That was a no... the whole party arrived by 4:07, didn't get to order my cocktail til 4:26... received @ 4:42... ordered 3 apps & a salad (all delicious), received by 5:08.. by 5:47, after table was cleared and the conversation between us had lulled... still no entrees. Finally, as we thought we were never eating, asked for the check. We were all annoyed & ready to go. They started bringing our food (AFTER I ASKED FOR THE CHECK), we declined it all and got a bill for everything. After a bit of debate and being told "it's a holiday & we are busy"... I finally received the bill with just what we ordered... Beyond annoyed doesn't even begin to describe our 1st eating out holiday experience. We have all done this restaurant before & enjoyed it. The wait staff was overwhelmed & I don't blame them at all. The service was terrible, and waiting an hour for an entree is unacceptable. I'll find a new place to go. I came here for lunch and definitely a fan. I love that they have lunch and dinner pre fixed menus. You get more food for your money and it's good quality food. Lunch you can choose soup or a salad an entree and you get coffee or tea. If you're craving dessert you can add it in fore a few dollars extra, some options include cheesecake and gelato. The weekends and after 4 pm you can park in the bank parking lot. Other than that you need to find street parking. read more

Simply amazing - no other words to describe. The Owner Frank treats you like family. The service is impeccable ask for Frank or Gus. Their hostess/Bartender April is sweet and her drinks are perfect. We had our engagement party 3/25/2018 upstairs room. Food was great, waiters were amazing. The set up the tables perfect. We had a DJ, candy table, backdrop. Update from 2016. Have been here multiple times and except for the one time of stale bread and heavy hand with the salt we love Cielos. I usually get the Caesar salad and either chicken parmesan or chicken Frances and hubby gets chicken marsala but I have also had their pasta with Bolognese and today the tiramisu. As usual, great food, warm inviting atmosphere and very reasonable prices. Went for lunch with hubby and friends. Was somewhat disappointed that the bowl of bread was burnt and rock hard. Had to request another one not toasted. Then the Caesar salad and the house salads were all over salted and the minestrone looked like it was swimming in fat. There is no meat in minestrone so where did the fat come from? On the plus side the entrees were very good and included the Mediterranean salmon, chicken Francese and penne with garlic and spinach. I recently came here for a party so I cannot say much about the price. However, I can comment on the service and the food. The service was great. Everyone was very attentive. They did take a long time to bring out the food but I think that had to do with the fact that they had two parties going on at the same time. I think the kitchen was a little backed up. I have only heard wonderful things about this restaurant. Unfortunately, my husband and I were less than thrilled. The staff was very friendly and the restaurant was clean. For the most part, the food was good. However, the bread in the basket was stale. My husband ordered a soda. When he was asked if he wanted a refill, he said yes twice. I never ate at this restaurant and never will. The owner is such a d*bag that it compelled me to make my first Yelp review. If possible I wouldn't even give this place 1 star. I was picking up my daughter that goes to a daycare across the street from this restaurant. Due to construction on the street, and with no parking spot available, I pulled into the parking lot of this restaurant and waited for a spot to become available on the street. The owner pulled up in his car and flashed me with his high beam to leave, but he was blocking my way and I couldn't pull out. Then he proceeded to just get out of his car, locked his door, and went inside the restaurant blocking me in. I knocked on the back door where he went in and he locked it, ignoring me. I had no choice but to go inside his restaurant to ask one of his patrons to move their car. That was when his waiters alerted him and he came out to confront me in a very aggressive manner. He was loud and inches from my face. Remember this was all happening in front of a daycare school where my 3-year old and others were being picked up by their parents. I wasn't about to respond to his demeanor. The director of the daycare came out to diffuse the situation, and the owner of the restaurant started to get in his face too! In an attempt to calm him I even offered an apology for being in his parking lot, although I didn't think I had anything to apologize for. But that still didn't work. This went on for 20-30 minutes until he felt his had his way long enough and left. This guy got issues and one day will get his, the way he acts thinking he's a tough guy. Came for a party for the private party room upstairs. Now parking is tight, because it's on the corner of a residential street and busy street. So good thing they have "Valet". So we pull in front of the driveway where the "Valet" sign is. Didn't see the "Valet" kid there, got the family out, still waited for "Valet" to come around. Started to walk to the front door, figuring maybe "Valet" is near there. As we start walking..some kid in a hoodie, tells me "you can't park here". Me: "Where's the "Valet", are you the "Valet"???" Hidden Gem in Staten Island! I have passed this place place over and over again in life and just now experienced this culinary delight! I'm mad at myself for not going in sooner! Frank the owner and Executive chef makes you feel like family from the moment you walk in. His staff is Super attentive to your needs. Frank will even refill your drink when he sees it low, well oiled machine they run. Sometimes in a restaurant when you step out of the box and ask them to prepare something your way you are met with attitude and ultimately sometimes they won't do it, not here! They have pounded, breaded veal chop (on the bone) | tri-colored salad w/ balsamic dressing and I asked for it to be parmed and met with no resistance. I've had this dish all over the US and hands-down is the best I've ever had, didn't even need a knife to cut it! Ordered a small side of rigatoni and marinara on the side and the attention even given to that was amazing. Don't be surprised if Frank lingers around and shoots the $h!T with you but remember your family. I'm a customer for life and there's no reason to step off this island to Manhattan or AC when this is right in our backyard! I was planning on giving this restaurant 5 stars, but I'm dropping it to 1 star after the fiasco I went through yesterday with them. I had my baby shower (which was great due to my planning, decorations. etc.), but when it came time to pay the bill, we were charged for 30 people even though only 24 showed up. When I set up the party and left my deposit we were told by Gus that if less than the amount of people we were expecting showed up, we would ONLY be charged for the amount of people that actually showed. Yesterday, he said HE NEVER SAID THAT, which is a COMPLETE LIE and charged us for 6 extra people. They also said they would throw in free cookies which I never got either. I'm really disappointed in how the conversation went down, and that he would not admit to what he said in our pervious conversations. I told him for future reference he should have clauses like this in writing, but I'm sure they won't do that since he said A LOT OF PEOPLE COMPLAIN ABOUT THIS. Then why keep doing it to people? My beautiful baby shower was (almost) ruined by having to pay more than I needed to and I left with a sour taste in my mouth and couldn't stop thinking about it all night. :( I'm definitely not going back there and I'm telling all of my friends and family not to go there either. I booked Cielo about 6 months ago for my son's communion on May 11, 2019. When I booked with Frank the waiter I told him I wanted the upstairs room and I will have 60 PEOPLE, including kids. Out of the 60 would be about 20 kids, which met the 60 PERSON minimum. He took a $250 deposit and handed me the party package choices. He filled out a paper that consisted of my first name, telephone number, people count and food selections and deposit. I did not sign this nor did they. I was only given back a receipt and menus. On Friday May 10, 2019 at 11 am I met with Frank the owner to finalize the table arrangements. Frank the owner tells me it is a 60 ADULT minimum not 60 person. I told him what was said with his employee and he tried to deny that wasn't the agreement. I told him I only had 40 adults and couldn't afford to pay for 20 more adults who would not be there. Which would've been about $1000. He started to yell at me saying it was my fault Insisting if I wanted the up stairs room I had to pay full price. I even offered to pay full price for the kids and not pay additional for kids. He refused to take it unless I paid for the kids also. He said he would work on seeing of switching my party to downstairs room that has a 40 ADULT minimum and adjust the party time of the one scheduled but give him an hour to work it out. I said ok. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 o'clock go by and no answer after I called numerous times. He was not in the restaurant. His workers finally gave me his cell. He answered and was nasty telling me I have to wait cause he is busy working, running a business, and waiting to hear back from the downstairs party. He would get back to me at 6. All these hours I was calling all over SI who can take my party last minute. Z2 to the rescue! I sent Frank a text saying I can not wait anymore. He asked for some more time. He then calls me saying he can give me downstairs (miraculously), told him I wanted the upstairs for what I booked. I said I will get back to him. He called me back a minute later saying he will accept my offer. I went there to get this in writing, he then tells me I also have to pay the adult drink package for the additional 20 children I offered to pay full price plus $5 pp surcharge for a Saturday. That would have been well over $1500. I walked out, canceled my party and he refused to return my deposit. I booked with Z2 who was absolutely perfect, accommodating and they really pulled off this last minute party. Perfect food, service and room! Needless to say, I do not recommend Cielo. Frank was unprofessional, rude, insulting and did not own up to their mistakes. I was treated like garbage. To do this to a paying customer, the night before my son's communion is completely unethical and a disgrace. He thought he had me pushed in the corner, but regardless of Z2 I would have canceled anyway and had it in my house. I wouldn't even give this 1 star if I had a choice. This restaurant does not know how to honor a reservation. I made a reservation for Mother's Day at 6pm and when I showed up with my family at 6pm, I was told by the hostess that it was going to be a "20 minute wait" that turned into 55 minute wait. When I asked the manager why he could not honor his commitment he said there was nothing he could do. My mom was hungry and upset and all the manager could do was argue with my family. I can not get behind a business where the customer's time is not respected. The owner was very rude and did not make any offers to make up for the wait. All Cielo cares about is the bottom line and they do not respect the people who have been coming to their restaurant for years. read more

What a wonderful meal. We were 7 woman calibrating a friend bachelorette party. First we all did not arrive at the same time but they sat us anyway. The waiter took our drink order and brought us bread. He waited for the the rest of our party to arrive before taking our food order. E everyone ordered from the fixed menu. The servings sizers were generous. I ordered the mussels as my appetizer. They were delicious. My main dish I ordered veal marsala. It was absolutely outstanding. Tender and moist. We arrived on time for our 730 dinner reservation yesterday. The hostess told us it would be a bit of a wait. Detecting some nervousness on her part, I enquired how she defined a short wait. When she told us 45 minutes, we promptly left and have no intention of ever returning. Why take reservations of you're not going to honor them? An appropriate response would have been something like, "I'm terribly sorry for the delay. Please have a glass of wine and an appetizer on us while you wait." My husband and I had the most amazing dining experience last night. Cielo, on Hylan Blvd in Staten Island.. It's a cozy place. Immaculate. The food was so good from the antipasto - to our dessert - to the complimentary glass of wine. The owners are so congenial - making sure that their guests are happy. We have been to the finest restaurants in NYC, and Cielo far surpasses them. Even the clientele, fine people. Nothing was overdone or underdone.. Cielo is perfection. Cozy and wonderful.. We sat at the first table - and usually that would not be my choice. In this place, I didn't mind, not one bit. We had a wonderful time. I highly recommend Cielo to everyone who loves Italian food. We really had a nice experience at cielo. The staff are welcoming and helpful,we sat upstairs by the windows but there are tables downstairs as well. I had the minestrone for starter and lemon shrimp for entree, both were excellent. Hinda had Caesar salad followed by salmon and they. too were very good, both came with Vegs and broiled potatoes. We went here for a family party so we didn't get to experience the whole menu. With that disclaimer out of the way, let's start with the decor. Dark wood everywhere with stark white, silver and royal blue accents makes for a great mix of traditional and modern feel. The second floor wine wall was fabulous and impressive. I had a mixed drink that was very strong so unlike other parties I've been to the bartender wasn't cheap with the alcohol. The food, which is one of the most important part to a restaurant was just good. Nothing to rave about but wasn't anywhere near bad either. The service was a little rushed The coffee was cold and the espresso was bitter, according to my brother in laws. Don't know about the food, but the owner is not smart. He scares away all the customers protecting his parking spots. Staten Island is a small place and people talk, and if you own the place you should be more customer oriented, once you make enemy with the pedestrian and with the customers of the next door business over a parking spot, these people and their relatives and their friends are least likely have dinner at this place. Sometimes being more flexible helps making more money. Non customers be aware never park near this restaurant, nor on the parking spot, unless you are the customers. My friend had mussels in white wine sauce ( which was awesome!) and I had Caesar salad (dressing on side?not a problem, mains me: spaghetti carbonara yummy!
