I really like this place. The ambience is stunning and the service is exceptional. My husband and I ordered a salad, pasta, and one main course to share. Salad was goat cheese, walnuts, raisins, all the greens and dressed in a delicious dressing. A bit overdressed for me because then the lettuces get wilted; next time I'll get the dressing on the side. Next was the pasta course where they put the pasta into the wheel of cheese to dress it up. We braved it out in the heatwave to vote and rather than cooking, we had a late lunch at Bocelli in Old Town, Staten Island. We started with arancine and fried artichokes & zucchini, along with the Donnafugata Grillo from Sicily (wine is 1/2 price on Monday & Tuesday). For our main course, we both had the pork chop Milanese with salad. For dessert, the berry torta and chocolate cheesecake. Their $45 prix fixe lunch could feed an army! Bocelli's ambiance was WONDERFUL. The food was the best thing I've had in a LOOOOONG time. I ate everything. Their Limoncello Spritzer is delicious. The only complaint I have is the wait staff. Did take them a bit to service us and get our drinks. We had like 3 different waiters so that was a bit confusing who to ask things from when needed. Other than that I will definitely return again. The appetizer (arancini), Mela salad (with apples, walnuts and goat cheese) dressed in a honey lemon-thyme dressing; mains: striped bass with zucchini special, and parpardelle al champagne (with lovely homemade noodles, lobster tail, shrimp, asparagus, in a champagne crema were all very delightful. Service was extraordinary, but slightly on the "Stuck-Up" side. A little bit of condescending is too much. The acoustics in the restaurant are outstanding, if you're a musician trying to tune your violin. However, they become a nuisance as this place is always full and the result is extremely loud conversations overtaking these majestic 40 foot ceilings. Not as bad as one would expect on the pricing end. In fact, very fair considering that you're getting what is probably the best Italian food on Staten Island. One of the best Gnocchi dishes I've ever had. And the old tag line "Try the veal, it's the best in the city" is extremely true at this slice of Italy right in our own backyard. That was disappointing. I think most in our party enjoyed their food. I was not impressed. I had the ricotta ravioli bolognese- sadly it tasted like it came out of a chef boyardee can. Our waiter was an older Italian guy,nice but very slow. Even though most of us finished eating by 9:10 -check didn't come until after 10pm. Didn't leave until 10:30. The manager comes and checks on you which is always appreciated as well. They are able to modify your meals if needed which is lovely. Their desserts are great. This restaurant is located with a strip of stores. I parked in front of the restaurant and was told by a valet guy that I can be towed by their neighbor pizzeria ! I the signs in this lot are very confusing so I decided to allow the valet to take my parked car. We were early for our reservation so we had a couple of drinks at the bar. The drinks were ok. The actual restaurant is well designed and pretty. When we were about to be seated with our reservation, they tried to push us to a table near the bar. My wife was not going to accept this. After a bit of disagreement, they offered us a table next to many that were empty! The service was very good but found the master waiter to be somewhat displeasing. It seems many people serve you. The appetizers and entrees were very good so our party of four were satisfied with the experience. It's definitely not a reasonable place to go but I felt it was worth the visit. The food is overpriced, and the pasta sauces are too creamy you can barely taste the flavor. The pesto sauce was so bland I did not know that could exist. I believe it was overpowered by the milk they put in it (which is not how you make pesto). If your palate is easy to satisfy, you may like it here, not love. My friend and I just left Bocelli on this rainy Sunday...and I just know I'm going to be hungry in an hour because my entree at $34 amounted to nothing more than an $8 Chinese Restaurant order of Sweet and Sour Cauliflower with FIVE, less than medium shrimp. Everything started out so nicely...great table,friendly waiter,two delicious,albeit expensive,martinis and a reading of the "Specials"....which sounded terrific! My order was a Cauliflower Steak smothered in shrimp.I should have asked what sauce would be on it but being an Italian restaurant one would have to assume a tomato or cream sauce...NOPE! It was tantamount to being exactly the same dressing you would get in a Chinese restaurant...sickly sweet and sticky. And the cauliflower came as deep fried two inch cubes with five small shrimp. My friend's Ravioli with prosciutto and peas had an orange colored sauce...similar to the Home Depot colors. The dish was tasty but undercooked! SO, two entrees and two martinis...$99. No problem,I had a $125 gift card. I left it all...that's a 25% gratuity...but before we could get out the door the waiter literally grabbed my arm and said in a loud voice,"You didn't leave a tip...this is no good!" Now what he meant to say,I'm sure, was "Sir,gift cards aren't good toward gratuities"... even though they are good in some establishments. But he didn't...he embarrassed myself and my friend in front of the Maitre'D. I peeled off a $20 bill and we left. I doubt we will be back! Not even to use my remaining $25 gift card! read more

We started off with a few appetizers; rice balls and a shrimp and mushroom dish. Then onto our main meal. My boyfriend had rigatoni with filet mignon tips in a brown mushroom sauce which was very good, I had the ricotta gnocchi with a red gravy and melted mozzarella which was amazing, you don't find many places that make the gnocchi that way, it's usually potato based which for me is too heavy. Our Aunt had shrimp and lobster with pappadell noodles. The portions are large enough for two meals for my Aunt and myself. They can accommodate parties upstairs and have valet parking which you may have to take advantage of as parking is tight. The do have an elevator but it's located outside which will bring you upstairs to the balcony and there is a door to get into the party room we were told.
