*Long review and cross posted in the SI food groups* Thank you to everyone a few weeks ago who gave suggestions for where I could hold a party of 12-25, I did look at all suggestions and chose Bella Mama Rose. I am so happy I chose them because they were absolutely pleasant to work with, start to finish. This party was both a social gathering of my gym buddies from South Beach CrossFit and also rolled in with my bday Out of three restaurants I contacted, Bella Mama Rose was the most responsive (I prefer to message via email or instagram). I never had their food before the party, but visited beforehand to check out the space. They provided me with different party menu options, and we chose the Pizza Party with open bar. This came with a choice of 4 apps and 3 pizzas. Party size: 26 Total Party time: 3 hours Apps: Eggplant rollatini, fried calamari, Caesar salad, rice balls Pizzas: Margherita, pepperoni, meatball. Extra touch: they had the logo of our gym in the TV screen! That was so nice! I appreciated their flexibility- I had very last minute additions to the group, and surprises the night of! Surprises/extra party members may not be a big deal to some, but a restaurant needs to be prepared due to staffing and food prep. We had about 3-4 servers, two floaters (including the owner), and one bartender (she was fantastic and quick!). Everyone was so incredibly kind and pleasant. The food: The crew enjoyed everything. I tend to be picky with salads (I don't like salad dressing) but their Caesar salad was solid! The fried calamari was crispy and not oily or soggy like some places. I also ate my fair share of pizza and wish I had some to take home, but my amigos beat me to it and I'm glad bc it means they had fun! My friend bought a sheet cake from Moretti's and he was able to drop it off a few hours before the party. My favorite party/birthday party I've had to date. I tried to take as many good pictures as I can... but you know, that open bar package! My immense gratitude to everyone that worked the party, we really appreciated the staff! Went to celebrate my relative's birthday and I was amazed by the calm ambiance and the great tasting food. The staff were extremely courteous and helpful and kept the event going smoothly. I will say the appetizers were top notch and they are very filling. The apps could have been meals themselves. The dinner was buffet style with a fantastic salad, homemade dressing, penne, chicken parm, fish and other good entrees that slip my mind but were of excellent quality and taste. Dessert served which was chocolate cake and yellow cake were delicious and not overly sweet. Great coffee too. I went to "Bella Mama Rose " to meet up with my brother , his wife , and a sister-in-law. And it never disappoints . Besides the food being exceptional , it just makes you feel right at home . Artichokes are to die for not to Mention the " baked clams" Very friendly establishment . Ambience was spot on . My family held my surprise 60th birthday at Bella Mama Rose. The chef deserves high praise because the food was SUPERB. The ambiance was so lovely, and the service was impeccable. The management, wait staff and bartending staff were extremely attentive, helpful, and went above and beyond to make our family event so memorable and special. Justin and Joe, thank you so much. Honestly, they were so kind to all of us, and coordinated beautifully with our event planner/decorator. They made everything so convenient. Our entire family was so impressed with how well they were treated, the delicious feast served and the gorgeous rooms provided. I haven't been to the restaurant in ages, however, I saw their instagram and the pizzas they were making so I decided to order for takeout. We got the traditional grandma pie and the rice ball salad. The pizza sauce was delicious and the pie was crispy and thin. The salad was really good and the rice balls complimented the salad nicely. They were fresh and tasted like a little Italian grandma was in the back making them :) Everything was so delicious and fresh, I imagine in the restaurant it would be outstanding. From the moment I walked in, the aroma of sauces, breads and wine, I felt like I was in an italian spot in the 90s. The inside is very cultural, and decorated beautifully, with a lot of care for detail in the design. We were looking to decide on an appetizer, and met with fresh baked bread, and a delicious bruscetta served on croustini. My wife started with red sangria and I wanted wine with my steak, but one sip of hers, and I ordered one of my own. Regardless of the complimentary plates we were presented, we were suggested the meatball appetizer as one of the specials. We were lied to. The waitress told us it would be the size of a baseball, it was more like a small volleyball, huge! Served over a pasta weve yet to discover the name for, we had to come up with a way to approach it! Eventually, we went right down the middle, hot steamy cheese pouring out, meeting sauce. The meatball itself remained very tender and flavorful, and believe it or not this wasnt the end of the meal. I had the Ribeye, a nice go to for a new restaurant, while also trying my wifes shrimp fra diavolo. The steak came with mushrooms and onions in olive oil that I needed on everything, my steak, potatoes, veggies all over. Cooked medium like I asked, and well seasoned. The winner here however was the fra diavolo, epic. Mountain of mussels, shrimp, clams, sitting over pasta and this smoky spicy red sauce. The italian experience here is real, and its for everyone. I just came here to celebrate my aunt's 50th birthday and it was such a nice time. The area we were seated in was classy with elegant touches in the decor. The food and service were the best part though. The food came out very fast and the quality and quantities were even better. The pizza is comparable to any fancy italian place in manhattan. The chicken wings were juicy, tender, and crunchy. The stuffed chicken marsala with cheese and ham was also delicious and filling. It was a cross between chicken cordon bleu and chicken marsala. The servers were very accommodating and friendly-- always checking up on us and making sure all our food was delivered. This was definitely a perfect fit for the occasion read more

The food is good but the lady at the bar is brain dead. Sat for over one hour waiting for 1 pizza and order of calamari. She forgot to put the order in and kept vanishing for 10 minutes at a time. Bella Mama Rose is one of the finest Italian based restaurants on Staten Island. We started out with a charismatic waiter that lit up our table with energy. He was not only confident when presenting the nights specials but he also had extensive knowledge of the wines. We ordered 2 appetizers. The fried calamari and the stuffed meatball. The calamari was light and crispy. The stuffed meatball was the size of a softball and completely exceeded our expectations. Our entrees consisted of veal parmigiana, carbonara, and the vodka cavatelli pasta ( which was my personal favorite ). I used to love coming here but their service has gone way downhill. The last two times have been a disaster. I normally don't comment or make a review but this is ridiculous. Last time, I begged my family to meet me here for my birthday because I love their vodka sauce. One of the best on the island. Anyways, I ordered first and made it clear that I'm the birthday boy and the most important thing is the chicken Parm with vodka sauce instead of regular sauce. We ordered a bunch of other things and the chicken Parm comes out and no vodka sauce, it's just regular sauce. Not a problem, I wave down the waiter, she apologizes and said they will make a brand new one right away, dish comes back in about 5 minutes. I cut into and taste and somethings off, doesn't taste like the usual vodka sauce. I look under the cheese and it was the regular sauce, so they just poured vodka sauce over the dish they brought out already even thou she said they were making a fresh one. Manager took it off the bill and bought us dessert. Fast forward to tonight, begged my fiancée to come here ordered our food. An hour plus before we hit our eggplant appetizer. Waitress says she yelled at the kitchen after telling us multiple times it's coming right out. Finally comes out, it's cold, and I'm just pissed. My fork is filthy... this really upsets me. We were in the mood for family style good Italian food, and here we are in Bella Mama Rose again :) We had stuffed Meatball for appetizer to share. The meatball was the size of a softball, but not only the portion is impressive, it was also very juicy and flavorful. Inside was stuffed with ricotta cheese,and enclosed in a crusty shell that soaked up the yummy sauce. We ordered the Seafood Fra Diavolo family style, and it is so delicious. Went to dinner with my sister (615 on a Friday) I have a coworker that loves this place. Service was great, food was good. The restaurant was consistently busy with diners and take out. I had a piece of grilled salmon at Randazzo's that would knock your socks off the day before and it was bigger and less expensive: Go there and learn how to make it or take it off your menu. - With a name like "Bella Momma Rose", I expected more. First time here. Staff excellent! Accommodating and kind. Went so far as to go to the neighboring store to ensure the juice my 3 year old requested was served. They were vigilant without being over bearing. All items were correctly made. Food Apps We ordered the shrimp special- wrapped in bacon with balsamic glaze and arugula. Wife and son loved it. I personally didn't like the glaze tasted like bbq to me. Baked clams were very good. 2nd best on the island. Pizza- my sons ordered a cheese pizza. It was excellent. My chicken Parm was dry, my husband's salmon was served cold. When we tried to complain and bring it to the attention of the restaurant they caught an attitude. They started treating us very disrespectfully. The owner was very disrespectful and made a racist comment. I do not recommend this restaurant. They have to understand that the customer has the right to say something about how they want their food without being retaliated against.
