This was our third visit to Millie's. We went on off hours after lunch and between dinner and it was still a lively atmosphere. Nice amount of AC in the summer, idk what it's like in the cooler months. The food was very good I highly recommend the Caprese appetizer, very creamy We have tried the Margherita pizza and the veggie pizza in the wood fired oven. Both are excellent. The wood fired crust gets a texture -- an ever so slight fluffiness, airy yet a good amount of bite, thin but not too thin. A nice sauce. Not too sweet. And delicious cheese. Before 4pm there is a pizza special at the bar we hope to try. The wait staff is very friendly explanatory and surprisingly fast. They accommodated a food allergy for the table, and told me what ingredients were in the dishes they could not change because they were prepped early, so I could order accordingly. I very much appreciated this. My only caveat would be to say if you have a food allergy pack your own to go food. One of the bus boys who was very helpful if a little overzealous packed the to gos on top of someone else's to go (a dessert) and I had to switch out containers on my own bc of a food allergy in my family. Also the caprese mozzarella is so wonderfully creamy that it was dripping all over the to go bag and had I not noticed it on the passenger car seat my car would have smelled like new born baby diaper by the end of summer! Lol So I spent a good ten minutes cleaning the seat of my car and then going back to repack. They were very good natured about the request and I did the repacking outside so all was well. Again, the way they handled it is to be commended. Possibly the friendliest restaurant on Staten Island. Also, very kid friendly. A lot of tables with children in the earlier afternoon. We gave Millie's a second chance after a disappointing first visit, hoping things had improved. Unfortunately, it was more of the same. Party of three on a Saturday night. The restaurant was not very busy; maybe ten to fifteen people at the bar and a few tables finishing up. We waited about ten minutes for our server, who was friendly and doing her best. We ordered three drinks, two alcoholic and one virgin. The virgin came out in about five minutes; the other two took fifteen. One was wrong, and the other was not drinkable. Our server explained the bartender had left whether a shift change or something else, I am not sure, but the drinks were a miss. Meanwhile, our menus were taken before we ordered. No waters, no bread, no setups, and it was tough to find our server. When she returned, we sent the drink back and asked for the check to pay for the appetizers and one drink. She offered dessert on the house, which was kind, but I was not looking for a free meal, So we chose to leave. We came ready to order the $75 filet, the $140 steak for two, sides, and cocktails. Last time I spent over $600 and left underwhelmed; this visit confirmed it. We drove to the diner across the way afterward and had the opposite experience; greeted right away, drinks in three minutes, great service, and I saved probably $400 and left satisfied. If you want pizza and a casual bite, Millie's might work. But I won't be back. read more

We waited a long time for a pizza as an appetizer which was delicious, but spending $70-$100 on entrees that were overcooked was not okay. Sent an email with no response from restaurant which was upsetting since our bill was over $600. Kicker was management delivered food and saw the meats were overcooked. Yes they did buy the table dessert, but if you don't eat your entrees to me dessert is just a courteous way to say sorry we messed up. I worked for steakhouses we temped everything out and checked for quality before hitting the table. It was a Saturday night, very busy and kitchen could not keep up. Ive been to Millie's multiple times since my first review in 2019. Each time the food is great and PLENTIFUL. They really do feed you here like your Italian grandmother would for cheap! The prix fixe menu is what keeps me coming back. As of now its around $26 for a huge salad, meatballs in sauce, a personal pizza, and a cannoli. Not bad at all! I could eat but never able to finish everything here. You have to try the Arcadian salad! Its an Arcadian mix with candied walnuts, crumbled gorgonzola, apricot vinaigrette, topped with red onions & applewood smoked bacon. The bacon is what makes this salad. Thick cut and crispy. The meat balls are good. Cant go wrong with either their marinara sauce or creamy vodka sauce. Not exactly your Nonna's Sunday meatballs but these get the job done. Cant forget the pizza either. Having tried various pies here from the white pie, vodka pie, Margherita and others its obvious they know what they're doing here. Not many coal ovens on Staten Island to begin with so when I See it noted on the menu you know I had to go with coal as it adds a unique flavor to the pizza you won't find around. Top quality food. Suggested Millies to a group of high school friends looking to meet up for a holiday dinner. Most were coming from New Jersey. It was a very good central point and I have eaten here several times without an issue, until last night. A couple of my friends had dietary restrictions, one being gluten-free. What restaurant in this day and age does not have any gluten-free options. No gluten-free pizza, no gluten-free pasta just crazy. Another friend is a vegetarian. On the vegetarian pizza there was maybe a tablespoon of vegetables in the middle of a Personal pizza filled with tomato sauce. You could have literally counted the amount of vegetables on that pizza. To top it all off the people cleaning the tables around us were cleaning the tables with Fabuloso. The smell was disgusting as we were trying to eat. Every bite you took felt like you had a mouthful of all purpose cleaner. I was mortified that I suggested and will not be returning. No I didn't speak to management while I was there as I'm sure they're aware they don't have gluten-free options and I'm sure they are aware of how they are cleaning the tables and think that that's smell is perfectly fine while people are trying to eat. As far as the quality control of the pizza, they really need to do a much better job! read more

Still in covid summer 2020. Beautiful spread out outdoor dining area there's totally no way you can go wrong with the $20/person all you can eat which is almost everything on the menu. Antipastos, salads, many choices of meatballs, various pizza (wood fired or regular) and I was shocked when they said a Nutella pie is included for desert !! I'm very picky about my meatballs. These were amazing. All beef. Fantastic sauces. Every pizza we tried was also incredible. The margarita could stand up to any, the truffle oil and prosciutto pie was over the moon and so was the pepperoni. The only thing I would do next time is get the salad dressings on the side. Came here twice for $20 all you can eat promotion. Hurry, it'll end February 1, 2020. The first Saturday, the hostesses were disheveled and disorganized, running around the premise instead of manning the reception. We were told to wait an hour for a table for two at 7pm. The wait lasted a bit longer than an hour. We passed the time at the stores nearby. I thought I'd start eating myself before we'd be seated. The restaurant is pretty small, so not many tables are available. We had to keep inquiring about being seated as we watched an empty table for two standing idle and unoccupied for over 20 minutes. After insisting to check who's next in the waitlist, we were finally seated at that table that would've remained empty had we not kept following up over and over and over. This restaurant is majorly understaffed, and the waiters and bartenders are working in difficult conditions for the amount of customers that come in on weekends. The second time, we came in at 3:30pm on a Saturday and that was the best time. People were leaving from lunch so we grabbed an early dinner table and watched as the crowds poured in after 4:30pm. The environment is super casual, with a bar taking up some space. TVs for watching sports. People eating at the bar, awaiting their tables. Family friendly space--a lot of big groups with kids. The bathrooms were not well kept. Since they were unisex, many customers did not maintain good hygiene, not cleaning up after themselves. The lack of staff to clean did not help the situation during busy nights. The waiter during our first visit was friendly and courteous. We were fortunate to be taken care of by professional staff who attended to our whims on our first visit. Our waiter even remembered us the second time we came in! Great guy. The second time, we got bad luck with a waitress who was so dismally depressed about working here that her face expressed pain during every interaction. She barely visited us and hung around the bar, chatting with co-workers while we were stranded without utensils or water or whatnot. She definitely was having a bad day and wanted her shift to be over. We tried not take it personal and enjoy your experience nonetheless. The food was delicious. Very glad we got to try almost all the menu items. The Arcadian mix Salad with caramelized walnuts, Gorgonzola cheese, apricot vinaigrette and cured bacon was light and fresh. Enjoyed it! Mozzarella and prosciutto were solid. Oysters were a bit underwhelming. Very oily, not enough "special cheese blend sauce." And VERY spicy. A lot of red flakes strewn all over them, so you don't overindulge. I could've ate five dozen oysters but because of that spice, I could not. Meatballs were superb--the best ones I've had at any restaurant. All three variations are worth a try! The vodka sauce was good, but the marina sauce blew me away even more, as it was hearty and juicy. The meat itself is great quality. These are not you bread and who knows what else stuffed meatballs. Very filling portions. The wood oven pizzas beat the coal oven pizzas for me. Definitely try the Capicola Ham and Pesto Pistachio pie. A really good coal oven pizza that we ordered both time was the meatlover's pizza which comes with three meats of choice. And tons of real chunks of juicy tomato! The white clam coal oven pizza was delicious too, but again, too much of those artificial red flakes were added to clams and eating such fiery pizza was not pleasant. Nutella pizza is included in the $20 all you can eat. Ask for cannoli cream on top (those balls that look like ice cream on the pics). They add a depth the sweetness of Nutella. Our second time, they ran out of Canolli cream (or maybe our surly waitress was just too tired and over it to bother bringing it). Hurry! Don't sit at the small table by the door if you want to be served. We came on a Sunday night and were sat down and not given menus until 10 minutes later when we waved down a server. Then we had to wait even longer to put in our orders. We flagged down the manager to take it down and then we finally received our waters. Our server never introduced themselves until one came over 15 minutes later saying they were taking over for the server who was supposed to come to ours. I used to come here all the time because they had a great special that included unlimited meatballs, select pizza, salads, and even oysters for a price. Eventually, they got rid of the oysters, which is understandable because it was all you can eat and they're expensive. I went back again to take advantage of the all you kitty understanding of the oysters were not part of the deal and we're told that they no longer have that special going on. I was there for my father's birthday for a large party and we weren't planning on ordering à la cart as that could be pricey. We decided to stay and order meatballs as an appetizer and figure out what we're gonna get for our entrées when we got the meatball appetizers it probably took about 35 minutes for the food to come to our table. Once we got the meatballs they were cold and lackluster. The service was pretty bad that they two in the restaurant was completely empty. A party of 10 people decided to get up close our bill and drive over to eat Italian as we knew we would get better service and better food. It's a shame that they got rid of their special. I wouldn't mind paying more just to know that I'm getting Multiple items for a set price but without the special I don't see myself going back at all as there is nothing special about Millie's, especially the meatballs as you can get a better meatball in a local pizzeria. It's pretty sad that Millie's decided to not cater to local Staten Islanders as a lot of people flock to restaurants like Patrizias because they do the family style special. The restaurant is also located by a bunch of stores like target Ulta, HomeGoods, Home Depot, etc., or a lot of family shop together on the weekends so this could've brought in a lot of business. If you're looking to have a meal in that area, I would say skip Millie's drive over to another restaurant in the area to get better food and service read more

I was suprized went my buddy said me & the guys were going there it was a Wednesday night !! not sure what to think drove by there all the time so went in w/ no expectations but was pleasantly surprised w/ the food table split everything we had salad apps all very good but the star was the porterhouse that came out boom. Sizzling plate. Didn't need any sause or fancy butter just a fork & knife. The beef was that amazing. I preidict in the next year this will be Staten islands number one rated steak on the island. Before I finish writing my review, I have to preface this by saying that I didn't have their pizza or meatballs (which they're allegedly known for). With that being said, I couldn't have been more disappointed with the food I tried here. Taking a bite into one of the clams is like taking a bite into a tablespoon of oil. The Rigatoni Vodka is false advertised (not a cured meat, olive, or mixed green in sight) and the taste was nothing to write home about. I added fried chicken to my rigatoni and I swear a piece of paper has more taste; I have never tasted something so bland in my life and it was $8 to add that to my already $25 pasta. The drinks are like 90% alcohol and 10% of whatever flavor mixer you decide to get. Apparently, the $32 salmon was just as bland as the chicken, although being cooked well (I didn't try it, but a family member did). The only good part of my whole experience was our server (bald white guy with really cool glasses). I'm not sure if this was a fluke, but I won't be coming to this location again unless this restaurant goes out of business and a new one opens up. read more

Went out with a group of friends. Took reservations which was nice. Some of us opted for the prefix which was a salad, 2 meatballs, A pizza and a cannoli. The pannarella salad was amazing... croutons, fresh mozzarella, tomatoes in a balsamic truffle dressing. It was incredible. Opted for marinara meatballs. Considering we are all of Italian heritage and have been making meatballs and sauce for years.... millies were dry and disappointing. At least 12 choices of pizza to choose from (coal fired or wood fired). While we all would have preferred the thinner type they were only offered with wood fired choices). We had the truffle (awesome flavors), soprasata (tasty), the white pie (not our favorite...it needed more flavor) & we all agreed the eggplant was the winner!!! The eggplant pie was incredible!!! A friend ordered charbroiled oysters. They were very tasty but were quite small. For dessert the cannoli was included. Shell was nice and crisp and cream was delicious. However, when you picked it up... there was only cream added to the ends (not filled). That was disappointing. Last comment...our waitress, Ariana, was patient, funny and a pleasure!!! A friend of mine and I went in for a late lunch. We were seated promptly and our drink order was taken we had a beer on tap they had several to choose from. We started with the char broiled oysters and an excellent salad with blue cheese candied walnuts and bacon. We also had a pizza with hot soppresad it was done in the wood fired oven For or main wr had the 42 oz porterhouse for two with creamed spinach, broccoli rabe and hash browned potatoes. After a gym work out we wanted to stop here for dinner. We parked right in front of Millie's, as we get out we see a family walking out and two waiters running out after them saying excuse me we forgot to charge you for something!! We found this super bizarre! We walked in and she must have been the manager she acknowledged us with a Hi, then turned to a young lady and was literally scolding her at the hostess stand saying you need to pay more attention! Well what's that saying "do as I say not as I do" because she just ignored us to yell at her employees! After yelling at her employee in front of everyone, She wanted to seat us in front of a wall so we asked to be seated somewhere we can see the outside. Two waitresses come over to a computer terminal while we were looking at the menu and started talking. They were cursing and speaking terrible of the restaurant. We both looked at each other like, this is a joke! We picked up and just left. Super unprofessional and they couldn't care less! In summary this place is a joke with customer service. Who ever trained the staff didn't do a great job. They have no respect for management and management has no respect for the staff. The salads and meatballs (3 piece) were alright, nothing really stood out. The chargrilled oysters were a mess. It looked unappetizing and tasted even worse. I'm pretty confident that they were frozen and microwaved with seasoning and cheese thrown on top. Now - the pizza. Guys the clam pie was sour. Those who had a slice took a bite and then spit it out.
