My recent visit to Cantina Valencia was deeply disappointing and fell far short of expectations. From the moment the food arrived, it was clear that the restaurant prioritizes presentation and pricing over actual flavor and value. I ordered the elote bowl, Birria tacos, tequila shrimp and the ceviche, hoping for a fresh, well-balanced dish, but instead received something that was overwhelmingly salty and noticeably overpriced for the portion size. Rather than highlighting the natural sweetness of the corn and complementary toppings, the heavy hand with salt completely dominated the dish and made it difficult to finish. Beyond the food itself, the overall value simply did not match the cost of dining there. For the prices charged, I expected a more thoughtful execution and better portioning. Instead, the meal felt rushed and underwhelming. The experience left me feeling like style was placed above substance, which is frustrating when you are paying premium prices. Service was acceptable but not memorable enough to offset the issues with the food. The atmosphere has potential, but unfortunately ambiance alone cannot make up for disappointing dishes and inflated prices. There are too many other places that deliver better quality and value. Overall, my visit to Cantina Valencia was not worth the money. Between the overpriced menu and the overly salty food, I would not return and would hesitate to recommend it to others looking for a satisfying meal.

So not sure why the 3.7 reviews but after reading the few reviews I can why and things happen I guess. So where should I begin I guess just like the restaurant chips and salsa . I don't really care for chips just because they are always either stale, store bought , or not worth my stomach space but not these!!! I've never done Drugs before if I did that what those chips and salsa would be!!! The chips were fresh and had a baked roasted flavor the salsa was really hearty and flavorful and definitely worth the stomach space . The service was slow due to the large party and the place was pretty packed and was a good sign. The owner even Came up and offered us a round of free drinks on them which we gladly took them. Then we ordered all that food and the food was all flavorful and had great taste. The gumbo broth was amazing like wow but it was more of a soup and not gumbo but I loved it . A bit pricy for the portion though a school of rice 3 shrimp 4 pieces of sausages and broth 16$ for a soup way over priced . But glad I tried it . Burrito was good and guac on top hit the spot. The tacos salmon and shrimp was great. And the elote was pretty good . And the customer service was great which isn't easy to find all the time now . Looking forward to coming back . But hoping there would be bigger portions . After I try next time if they aren't bigger on other menu items I doubt I'll come back.

Haven't been out in a while and have been wanting to try Valencia for a while. Got there at around 6 on a Friday when it wasn't too busy. Service was painfully slow. Waitress was not friendly, the shrimp Ceviche was horrible, it looked like they took the shrimp out of the bag raw and put it in the bowl without marinating. Chips were good and atmosphere was good. That's about all I can say positive. Will not be returning.

Tex Mex restaurant, located in the spot that used to be Cypress Hall. Decor was nice. Place was getting crowded. Menu and prices are reasonable with a lot of deals. Service was slow. We opened with a white Sangria (it was ok) and an Espresso Martini (which was a mistake on my part. I just didn't want a margarita-They had no martini glasses and the drink was warm and not very good.) the chips on the table are homemade and they put a pico de gallo it was good. We then ordered street corn. But it came as a street corn salad and it was nothing like what I was expecting. I guess this is more "TEX than Mex" It was OK not one of my favorites. We also ordered Valencias Pastelitos. There was shredded chicken inside, which was a little tough not one of my favorites. Then I had chorizo and potato soft tacos. No dipping sauce and I did not taste the chorizo or the potato. My son got a Birria quesadilla and my husband got the skirt steak. Everything was OK. Not great; Would I go back? Maybe. I think they were having an off night..they got some kinks they need to work out.

This location has transformed so many times and I'm glad there's finally some stability and it seems like they might be here for awhile.the service was great she was super attentive and friendly. The decor was cute giving American Tex mex. The food was a bit salty but well seasoned, good portions and easy menu to look through. I think it's a good place to sit and nipple/share at the bar.

Our waitress was so so nice, accommodating, sweet & fun!!! We loved her and her service was great. The restaurant was very pretty and nicely decorated. The menu had a wide range of tacos, burritos, bowls, entrees, drinks & more. For dinner I ordered the steak chimichanga and I'll be honest I wasn't a huge fan, whatever sauce & cheese combination that was on the burrito wasn't good. But, I really did love my drink- I had a frozen strawberry margarita with tajin on the rim. I would definitely come back because the service was phenomenal & because my drink was good. I'll just try something else on the menu.

Interior design is so aesthetically pretty and provides a wonderful and elegant dining experience!…read moreThe service provided by Behrouz was attentive, friendly, and warm, which definitely helped enhance the dining experience! Now onto the main topic, the food: This is by far one of the better middle eastern/seafood restaurant in all of Staten Island! The appetizers that were amazing were the chargrilled octopus, which is a MUST-GET, and the half dozen oysters which was by far one of the sweetest oysters we ever had (it was so good we ordered 3 orders!) The tuna tartare, calamari, and lobster bisque were all decent but nothing too special. For entree, the lobster pasta was perhaps one of the best tomato based pasta I ever had! Although the amount of lobster in the dish was on the smaller amount for its price, the flavor was so savory, sweet, and perfectly tangy, highly recommend it! The sea bass was good according to my family, but the flavor was on the milder side in my opinion; they liked it nonetheless so perhaps it's just a personal preference at this point. The lamb shank I would not get due to how overpowering it was; the sauce was salty and intense, where it overwhelmed every part of the dish. It was unfortunate because the lamb was so tender and had a nice proportion between its meatiness and its fat content. The dry aged steak was only okay too, since the spinach was so watery it soaked the steak in its liquid (as you can see from the photo), which detracted from the dish unfortunately. Overall it was a decent dining experience, where some were amazing and others were less so. It's a pricey dining experience but if you get all the right dishes, it's worth the price tag! Definitely recommend giving Sea Bar a try and I can't wait to come back again one day to give them the five stars I know they can definitely accomplish! Thank you for reading and best of luck! (:

They offered hummus and bread--super fresh. Ohhh, Get the lobster bisque it had the biggest pieces of lobster I've ever seen in lobster bisque!!! The calamari were cooked to perfection. They had the grilled watermelon salad and beets apps also delicious . Bronzino that was given was a hearty amount. The drinks were on point. They sang happy birthday and even though the kitchen was closed they made sure we didn't feel rushed or pressured. Can't wait to come try more and to get the soup again. See you there

Maybe serve whole pieces of pita? - cold appetizer - Mezze trio of eggplant salad , one of the most amazing tzatzikis I've ever had, and hummus. The eggplant salad tasted a little bitter to me. - my main was whole fried snapper. Nice and crunchy but a little bland. Small side salad also was a little bitter tasting. Lemon potatoes were a little disappointing. They could be a little more lemony. - friend had baked cod with potatoes and seasonal veggies. Desert was written on menu as strawberry crème brûlée but it was actually regular crème brûlée with small slices of strawberries on the edge. It was delicious. There has been a surge of Mediterranean restaurants opening in Staten Island and there is a lot of competition. There's a small parking lot in the rear so that helps since New Dorp is tight. Service was excellent. Clean restroom. Glad to see a large crowd dining on a Friday evening.

For appetizers we had Oysters Rockefeller and Avgolomono Soup. The soup was very good, though the oysters could have used more salt in my opinion. My Dad ordered a drink which, apart from being delicious, came in a very unique cup. The seafood entrees we ordered were tender and fresh, which I could tell because none of them had any noticeably fishy smell. The fillets I ordered were deboned flawlessly. I felt that the fish was cooked just right, and salt and pepper were provided on request. Great value at time of visit. Would recommend and visit again.

Our waitress was outstanding since it was our first visit, she took the time to explain everything clearly and made the whole experience feel welcoming and smooth. The custom seafood bags with mixed seasoning were delicious and full of flavor. The sides really stood out: the fried shrimp were huge, crispy, and perfectly cooked, the fried fish was good, and the calamari was light and crispy. The only letdown was the crab fries, which were disappointing considering how much fresh seafood they offer they used imitation crab, which felt out of place. Dinner all-you-can-eat, on the other hand, was less impressive. Dinner is about $20 more and includes the raw bar and snow crab legs, and while the food itself was still very good, the service was extremely slow. Getting our server's attention was difficult at times, even though there were plenty of servers working. We were only able to order a few seafood bags before being told we were out of time. We were 4 adults. Portions at dinner were also noticeably smaller than lunch portions, and overall it just didn't feel worth the higher price. I understand dinner is busier, but based on our experience, the lunch all-you-can-eat is absolutely the better value. For an additional cost, you can still add crab legs and raw bar items during lunch, making it a much better overall experience. Recommendation: Go for lunch all-you-can-eat great service, generous portions, and excellent food. Dinner all-you-can-eat could be improved, especially in service and pacing.

Stopped in on a Tuesday night (yesterday) by myself after work. I'm not local but work nearby…read moreevery few months. Been meaning to stop in for some time as reviews I've read are very positive. I can see why. I was greeted promptly at the door when I entered. Given my choice of table to sit at. Dining room is very nice. Spacious and white table cloths on all of the tables. I ordered the large lamb shish kabob platter. More than enough chunks of lamb. Not tough, very flavorful. It came with rice which was also very flavorful and a very tasty salad. A condiment plate of a yogurt dressing and also a spicy red sauce was brought out first along with a basket of warm bread of some sort that was also very good. You can order the shish kabob platters in a small size also which comes with half as many chunks of meat. I got a baklava assortment (6) to go and ate half today. There were 3 different kinds and all were good. Note: I was the only diner when I entered a little after 6. Not sure why as the food was delicious and the atmosphere is very nice. Maybe Tuesday is a slow night for dining out on Staten Island. Quite a few folks trickled in later for a dinner meeting in the back dining room. Lastly, my server was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. I will definitely return next time I am in town.
