We walked in and were immediately greeted by the hostess .. It was beautiful out so we asked for an outside table which informed was being cleaned but then there was a bit of confusion and the manager apologized but we decided inside was fine we were just hungry lol .. The manager brought us over a complimentary guac and chips and apologized again and we were not upset at all we know stuff happens but definitely appreciated the gesture ! We had a kids free weekend and were looking to enjoy some good food and that we did ! I tried the frozen Paloma margarita, which was very refreshing but strong, and the red sangria, which was definitely much more wine forward than fruit forward. The complimentary chips and salsa were fantastic. I decided to try the wings, which come in a mango jalapeño glaze that I could have drunk through a straw. About halfway through demolishing them, however, I noticed a long black hair on one of the wings. The staff was very apologetic about it, but my appetite was ruined after that. But as we are sitting there waiting to order looking at the menu there was flies constantly flying around we spend the either time swatting them away from food and drinks. The services isn't bad the waitress was nice even though she was dressed like a college student that just got called into work (a t shirt and some short shorts). She was the hostess the waitress and the bartender. Too much if you ask me. The food very bland I ordered steak with rice and beans it had no flavor even with the chimichurri sauce on top. My friend ordered fried fish tacos she said they were chewy and not very flavorful. I also got queso dip and for the nachos it didn't taste fresh tasted microwaved. Overall this isn't very clean place to eat Or a good place to eat The price is overpriced for what they offering and the quality of what you getting. They've been a go to for a quick drink or bite to eat on the north shore and in the summer you can sit outside (hard to find in SI). The service and food are consistent. Drinks I recommend the Pineapple Express I get it with tequila. For apps I love the wings and guacamole is decent, the Korean tacos also tasty. I'll see you there read more

On our journey to try all the Mexican restaurants on the island, we visited Ho'brah on a Saturday afternoon. It was not busy at all so we were quickly seated at a table. We ordered the baja street corn, camaron quesadillas, and ohana quesadillas from their expansive menu. Our waiter informed us that there was another street corn option in a bowl, but we opted for the corn on the cob option as it was less expensive. However, we regretted our decision as the bowl would definitely have been easier to eat. Everything was presented nicely and my ohana quesadillas were pretty good, although I wish I had gotten it without bacon and the brisket as those components became overwhelming midway through the meal. Overall, Ho'brah is a solid Mexican spot on the island, but nothing was mindblowing about the restaurant. read more

I've been here several times over the years but something is different, not sure if they recently went under new management, changed cooks, but the food and menu has been elevated. Even the chips and guac is hitting different. Chips are so fresh, warm, tasty, guac is seasoned well. I'm so here for this! I recommend the new Buffalo chicken taco, dirty bird taco, brisket taco, quesadilla birria, tostones with all the fixings. I basically recommend for lunch/tapas. Space is clean, kid friendly. I came to this restaurant because it was recommended to me. My daughter and I ordered a burrito and my other daughter ordered a kids taco. We all liked the food as it was presented nicely and had good flavor. The 2 stars is for the poor service. We ordered Salsa, chips and guacamole to start with. When that was finished, my daughter asked for more guacamole to have with her burrito. The waitress brought out a whole new bowl of chips, salsa and guacamole, not saying that we would be charged extra. When the bill came, we were charged for 2 starters. She said the guacamole is $12 each for a small bowl because of the high price for avocados. I've been to many restaurants and the most I've paid for a side of guacamole is about $6. The drinks ( iced tea) were not free for refills and we were charged each time a new one was brought. Again, the waitress said nothing. read more

Moderately priced tacos, but you get your bang for your buck! Since the tacos are so elaborate, it's good to eat them in house. Shrimp empanada - Crunchy shell, deep fried paired well with the savory filling. Don't skip using the dipping sauce it comes with. We both loved this one Thunderbird - well seasoned chicken with a zesty lime flavor, also this is a heavy packed taco some might need to use both hands to eat this. Classic cali fish taco- deep fried mini fish filet with a nice chipotle mayo drizzle and slaw inside the taco Captain Jack - At this point we had over ordered, Pickled Onions added a nice vinegary flavor to the fried shrimp. The nachos plate was nice. The tacos were good too. I had gotten the captain jack, the americano, and the sunset pork. I think the captain jack was the best of the bunch. Nice crispy fish. The pork was marinated well. The americano reminded me of a more typical taco. Margarita wise. They didn't have the flight which would have been nice to try each of the flavors. I ended up doing the watermelon and cucumber jalapeño frozen margaritas. They melted a little fast but they were good flavors. The watermelon was less flavorful but still refreshing. I was craving tacos and elote so my boyfriend and I decided to stop by here to pick up some take out to go. We had previously came here over the summer to have a sit down meal. The place itself is very cozy and a pretty spacious. Their menu has a wide variety of items but it is definitely more expensive than the hole-in-the-wall type of taco places. We went with the elote which is definitely a must in my books. It fixed my craving and it was super yummy and they do ask you if you want it chopped into smaller piece or just the one piece of corn. Their empanadas were alright and slightly on the expensive side of being 2 for $7. Their nachos were pretty good - the chips were super crispy and the flavors were good. For tacos, I really liked the Captain Jack taco, the shrimp was really crispy and the flavor was good. The other two tacos we got were the Americano and Dirty Bird which I found to be pretty mediocre. I definitely had better tacos in other places for a cheaper prices, but tacos here are more "unique" but I do find them to be hit or miss. Some of the tacos are definitely really yummy but I feel like the other ones fall short. Overall, it is a pretty decent place for tacos, but I definitely have other places that I like more. read more

Figured we give this location a try cause it's so much bigger and more convenient for my friend that was already in Staten Island. We were all sadly disappointed. we got seated right away and they did get busy on a Tuesday night. I got four tacos, the long beach, dirty bird, bohemian, and the classic cali taco. The steak in the Long Beach taco was cooked very well done and dry. It was very tough to eat. The chicken in the bohemian taco was very moist and not in a good way, the water or whatever stew the shredded chicken was braised in leaked through the soft taco tortilla and ripped it making it pretty difficult to eat. My friends had the same issues. Their chips were good though, served warm and tasted fresh. Honestly don't think we'll be back because the quality of their tacos just weren't the same as what we're used to from their Bay Ridge location. read more

Great mexican spot! Got the mission bay burrito with chipotle chicken which was very well wrapped (not falling apart) and hit the spot without overfilling me. Some of my friends I was with got the wet burrito which looked amazing as well. They have a nice selection of drinks . This place is near me and super convenient to grab food and drinks. NOTE: the happy hour on the menu pictures on yelp is no longer valid. I was kind of upset at this because 2 and 3 dollar tacos sounded amazing but apparently the lunch special ends at 3:30 (no clue when it starts). The tacos are BOMB! The pork taco, fish, and shrimp tacos were my fave but they were super filling and flavorful! I definitely would go back for more! The margaritas are strong and yummy! I've tried the blueberry, pineapple ginger, and cucumber! Loved them all, pineapple ginger was def my fave! They get a bit pricey when not under happy hour though ($11) but for happy hour it's $6 and well worth it.
