I had been so wanting to come here since 2019! We finally got to come and well.. It was underwhelming. It's nice but small. We ordered a variety of things. I was disappointed on apps. We ordered the Mac and cheese with pulled pork. The Mac and cheese was somewhat mushy and no real taste. The pork was okay nothing really special about it. We also ordered crab beignets. Now I went to NAWLINS and I know a proper beignets. Idk what these things they served us were. I know for sure they were EXTREMELY GREASY!! For dinner we got a fried chicken sandwich and I got smoked chicken with potatoes. The smoked chicken was tasty but on the dry side . Difficult to pull off the bone. My friend from Staten island suggested visiting this spot since he wanted to try it out for a while. I got the lobster Mac and cheese and chicken pot pie. I was surprised they were both pretty small for $20+ each. The chicken pot pie was deconstructed and had a flaky top crust and no bottom pie crust. It was toast and hearty. The crust was very flaky and buttery. The lobster mac and cheese came out nicely as well. It could've been cheesier and come with more lobster pieces. I also shared the chicken and waffles. So the chicken skins are so tasty. The mac and cheese are just adequate. The meatloaf was disgusting. The collard greens was too wet. They needed to drain it off. Mashed potatoes were good. Stopped in here with a friend for after work eats and a nice drink .. Walked in and sat immediately but we didn't love the table (dark) asked to be moved and they were totally cool with it.. Starting the New Year right. After a family event, we decided to have a group lunch and we came to Sally's. Love the charm of the place and the cool music playing. The ambiance of southern hospitality and representing Staten Island at the same time. The staff were extremely welcoming and really knowledgeable of the menu items. The lobster mac n cheese was amazing, very flavorful and perfectly cooked, nice amount of gooey cheese and lobster to balance it all out. Loved the mini skillet it was served in. Also had the apple smoked bacon on the side which was really good, better than what I had at a popular Brooklyn steakhouse. I had the Nashville hot chicken biscuit sandwich with fries as my main entree. While the "hot" was more on the mild side, it was still an excellent sandwich. Buttery biscuit made it really happen and the seasoned fries were excellent, perfectly crispy. Nice amount of food served. The desserts of banana pudding and ice cream sundaes were enjoyed very much as well. Prices are moderate, excellent place for a date or groups. Being it was New Years Day I could understand if the place was light on crowds but I'm sure this place can be jamming. Next time, will try out the drink menu and add on to the review. I also asked for bbq hot sauce like most decent BBQ are supposed to have, and they didn't even give it to me. We would rate Sally's as a 4.7. Parking was easy on the street at 3 pm and it's a cute little restaurant. We received excellent service from Anne. We started off with the magnolia margaritas which Anne said were a favorite from customers and were strong (she was 100% accurate) and cornbread which was delicious. I had the fried chicken (3 pieces) with a small pan of mashed potatoes- which is served with their peach hot honey and homemade hot sauce and both were delicious. The chicken could have used a little bit more salt (thus the .3 off) but it was super crispy, juicy & delicious. Hubby got the lobster gumbo which was served in a HUGE pan, full of shrimp, sausage and gumbo fixings. Came in from Brooklyn with my 2 friends( one from Bay Ridge, the other from Long Island) to go to the SI Zoo. At around 3, we got hungry. My friend said he could go for ribs. The first place I thought of was Sally's Southern. I've been a member of this group for awhile, and always envious of your dining places. Sally's has always been on my bucket list. I actually was ecstatic when I found out it was only 5 minutes away from the Zoo! I finally got a chance to check it out! And I certainly was not disappointed!!! The three of us loved everything served to us. Ann, our waitress/server was extremely attentive to make sure we had a great dining experience. From making recommendations to refilling our water to making sure we had enough napkins, she upped our meal and made us feel right at home. We started with Fried Shrimp and Corn Fritters which were both amazing. Even got hot honey with them, which makes them soooo good! I had the Chicken Fried Steak, with Chicken Fried Potatoes and a side of collards. I can't rave more about the meal. Plentiful and so delicious! My friends ordered the pork bellies and Fried Shrimp Salad. Both were extremely satisfied. We ended the meals splitting a Peach Cobbler Bread Pudding( with vanilla ice cream!) and Banana Pudding. My Fresh Lemonade couldn't have been better. My friend's Peach Sweet Iced Tea was also great( after tasting it, I was upset I didn't order one). All said and done, we left stuffed and we all agreed this was a great place to have picked. My only regret is that I live in Brooklyn and can't make it here as often as I would like. What!, I had no idea it had a 2nd floor upstairs. Plus, a one-person elevator to get upstairs. It's a airy space upstairs. High ceilings. We ordered 3 baskets of fried chicken. I can see the hot steam escaping the pieces of chicken. Small skillets of mashed potatoes, Mac n cheese, fresh hearty french fries. The mixed drinks weren't consistent. I drank it's bloody south in 2021 and then a few months ago. Not the same looks-wise or taste-wise. I ordered the chicken pot pie and was surprised at all the chunks of chicken in it. And the flaky crust was delicious. For dessert, we ordered the chocolate cherry dessert. It's now served in a small mason jar versus spread on a plate in 2021.
