The only thing Kettle Black has going for it are the wings. I placed an order for pick up on halloween night around 7pm. I walk in and it was fairly busy (understandable because it's a bar on halloween). I told the host that I was picking up an order. She tells me "okay go stand by the kitchen". "Interesting protocol" I thought to myself. I walk toward the back of the restaurant where I see the kitchen. There is a sign there that says something along of the lines of "pick up orders here". So I knew I was standing in the right spot. I'm standing for about 5 minutes. Multiple people walk in and out of the kitchen while I'm waiting. Then, a door dasher walks in and picks up an order. The guy who brought the door dasher his order pretended like I was invisible. Another 5 minutes passes and I see a guy who I'm assuming is either a busser or line cook walk out of the kitchen. "Excuse me. I am picking up an order" I tell him. He asks for my name and goes into the kitchen. Out comes a girl (a host i'm assuming) and asks me for my name again. I tell her my name and then she brings out my order. Overall the wings were enjoyable but the entire pick up experience put a bad taste in my mouth. Probably won't be going back. read more

Great food! The one time I ate at the restaurant it was very loud, but I guess that's to be expected at a sports bar. It was also packed, so my mom and I sat at the little bar at the front window. Several waiters/waitresses came to check on us to make sure we were being helped, which was nice. I've also ordered delivery a few times and have been satisfied pretty much every time aside from the last order. I ordered the sunshine bowl with steak but they gave me shrimp by accident. Luckily I'm not allergic to shrimp or anything so I ate it anyway. I do want to mention that the roasted salmon is delicious! I was a little nervous to get it delivered, but it was still warm and juicy and well seasoned. Kettle Black is a fun, lively place especially for groups. The menu is a extensive considering it's primarily consisting of bar food. It offers a nice variety of wings and burgers. The cish and chips could be a little lighter and there is a decent Shepherd's pie. read more

Omg my lunch was bomb!!!!!! My homegirl suggested we go to Kettle for lunch, so happy she did. Love the outdoor seating arrangement. Service was speedy, Mike (server) was amazing, and the menu isn't too large but full of so many enticing things that it took us a minute to hunker down and order. I chose -Maryland Baby- too sweet not spicy but the much better of the 2 and fried nicely -Ragin Cajun- very very sweet not at all spicy but crispy and well made Also tried one of the specials which was -Potato skins stuffed with "firehouse chili" well made but the chilli is not spicy just kinda boring. I can tell the food is really good here I just didn't chose the best for my tastebuds. Food needs some heat otherwise I enjoyed myself. Last but not least -Mon & Wed are .50 cent wing night -Tues is trivia night -make sure your waitress brings you the correct change. My bill was $32.50. I gave her a $50 dollar bill, I waited for 10 minutes for her to bring me change to tip her $10 and she kept the entire bill change for herself by never returning with it. I went to The Kettle Black with a larger party on a Saturday night. Our reservations were for 7 and we didn't end up leaving the restaurant until 10 pm. I think partly because the first 1/2 hour or so we were waiting for the rest of the group to arrive and the other part due to the inattentive waitstaff. The group was a party of 10 with 1 baby. The high chair didn't come until at least 8:30 just to give you an idea of the service. When we arrived to the table the waitress brought over 2 pitchers of water with 4 cups...for 10 people. There was another large party there who rented out pretty much the other side of the restaurant so the waitress had a lot of multitasking to do to give her credit. However, there were a number of other waitstaff just standing around. If you know you're going to have two large parties, staff accordingly. The food was average, most things overly salty. 9 out of 10 people got their dinners a whole 5-8 minutes before the last person received their entree. I am one of those people who wait for everyone to get their dish to start eating and this wait was just uncomfortable for all of us. On the plus side, they were able to make modifications and got all the orders correct. Then when it came to cake time, they brought it out we sang happy birthday and then waited and waited and waited for plates and utensils. It was 945 before we ate the cake. Another plus was that they weren't rushing us out, which was appreciated but there could have been a happy medium. The crispy Brussels sprouts and sweet potato fries were the best thing on the menu. Wings were way too salty for my liking. A few people ordered the Shepard's pie and said it was good. IMO this is a great bar, and and average restaurant. read more

Friday night out with an old friend pregaming prior to a show. Busy night on Forest Avenue..,,the happy hour crowd was at the bar. The dining room was empty when we got there at 630 and within 20 minutes the dining room was full. Famous for their award winning wings I had to give them a shot. I went boneless and tried their version of the anchor bar buffalo sauce and the it Cajun sauce, both good choices. The order of French fries is huge, piping hot and delicious homemade French fries. The appetizer platter had mozzarella sticks, Zucchini sticks, chicken fingers, potato skins and jalapeño poppers. The chicken fingers and potato skins were freezer burnt and awful this the 2 stars knocked off.....quality control. The balance of the fried treats were very good. Cocktail service was solid and the drinks were made nicely....bourbon mule was made well. The waitress bought us out last round because of the disappointing chicken fingers and potato skins. Stef & I went to the Forest Ave Oktoberfest this past Sunday, The weather was beautiful and the street was mobbed with people, apparently 8k people had the same idea, everyone was having a good time but the beer line was so long we decided to go to the newly opened Kettle Black. It occupies the space where the old Afternoons Bar was a fixture on Forest Ave for so many years. They totality remolded and opened the barroom up, it is now very spacious, "tin" ceilings, TV's everywhere, & lots of High Top tables. Nostalgic news ads and Local sports memorabilia give it just the right touch with out being tacky. Even though they just opened and the place was packed with Oktoberfest Revelers the staff was very attentive & friendly. We ordered Flagship beer along with "Jack" & "Big Bear" Wings, French Fries and a Caesar Salad. Everything was very good. We look forward to returning. read more
