Our server was friendly, kind and easy to talk with. The restaurant looks great and has three separate sections: the bar area, dining area, and what looks like a dining hall/party room. We ordered the Forest Ave roast beef sandwich and the fried shrimp appetizer with bang bang sauce. The shrimp had a nice crunch, and the bang bang sauce was good, but its flavor was a bit mild and plain; some garnish like chives can definitely elevate this appetizer further! Our sandwich unfortunately came without the bacon jam and maple bourbon, which meant it was just roast beef double dunked with Gruyère cheese. Unfortunately we didn't realize it until near the end, and although our waitress apologized and brought us a side of the bacon jam, by then we only had a quarter of it left which was a bummer. The roast beef was perfectly cooked and the gravy was rich and deliciously beefy, but the extra Au jus was a bit pricy for how little it was, where it came in the same small plastic sauce container instead of a small bowl/ceramic. I'm sure this doesn't happen often that half the sandwich ingredients were left out, so I guess we were just unlucky we didn't realize sooner, but it nonetheless detracted from our experience and we were charged the full price for the meal. Overall The Point Tavern has a lot of potential of being amazing and serve probably the best roast beef in all of Staten Island; I really wish them the best with their varied roast beef selections! They keep things simple! This review is based on my visit this past Saturday Evening - 21 June 2025. Bartender Mike is a true Mensch, if that's even possible, in a place like Staten Island, but he was truly a gem and kept the drinks flowing. This is truly a neighborhood watering hole that is frequented by many, including some friendly and beautiful teachers from the local school across the way. You are struck with an immediate vibe of friendliness and happiness, and visitors to the Point Tavern are truly treated like family. My great friend, "Uncle Anthony," and I enjoyed ourselves sitting and relaxing at the bar. There was a wide selection of draft beers on tap, and the mixed drinks were delicious. Confession: I made the "Shlep" to investigate this "Suspicious" Roast Beef Sandwich. My suspicions were confirmed--amazing, Juicy, Tender, and savory. Everything here was great. The atmosphere, the service, and of course the food! They are known for their roast beef sandwich so you know we had to order one! The Pointer was the winner with its horseradish mayo, Swiss cheese, piled high meat, and spicy peppers on the chosen Portuguese roll. Was here for the first time! This is a simple hidden gem! Started off with the hush puppies followed by crock onion soup both excellent! Had the New Enhland Roast beef on a Portuagese roll The roll was fresh crispy and the Roast beef was cooked to perfection! No room for deser Place was spotless Price was resonable! I had the Buffalo chicken flatbread, and it was fantastic. My wife thought it was kinda spicy. I enjoyed the meatloaf sandwich ("Point burger"), but my wife thought the turkey platter left something to be desired. I was disappointed to see there is no hamburger on the menu. Point strikes me as a place that would do great business if they served hamburgers. The children's menu has good variety. My daughter loved her hot dog and tater tots. Ambiance reminded me of many a pub/restaurant in New England, and I really liked that. I want to try the Cuban sandwich, but I sincerely hope they add burgers to the menu. Good bar, and a regular crowd that seems loyal is a plus. read more

Staff is very friendly! I had the Cuban and the rest of my party has the roast beef sandwiches. Have to admit, I missed out because the roast beef sandwiches were absolutely delicious!! Believe it or not, the asparagus was perfectly seasoned and cooked as well. Didn't expect the veggies to be that good. Finished our meal off with a rainbow cake. Only came here for drinks. Haven't been since it was Rusty's or 'Scoreboards?', many moons ago. It smelled delicious, and we wished that we were hungry. The bartenders were great. Only complaint was that it was super hot inside, temperature-wise. It was only 50-degrees outside, yet 80-degrees inside. Service was excellent however the food wasn't that good I ordered the turkey platter it wasn't quite what I expected but I said let's try it the stuffing was hard and dry no gravy turkey was dry they threw some cranberries on it and broccoli with bread crumbs it was cold like it was in the refrigerator and they took it out and packed it up I threw out the whole thing I paid 26.00 for it to go in the trash cause it was disgusting gross.
