Good Food We have read of this place a few times and thought to give it a try. Smaller than I had expected. Only a few tables in the dining room, a few high tops in the bar area and a large bar. We chose to eat at the high tops because some locals were at the bar and quite boisterous and we wanted to join in. We enjoyed a bowl of Potato Chowder. Nicely done. Here it is DISGUSTING! Ordered a Swiss burger medium I cut the burger in half as I always do! It was raw/cold in the middle. Fries are little pieces full of oil! I tell the waitress the burger is raw/cold In middle she says "sorry, I'll have them make you another one". Takes my burger with the fries, comes back from the kitchen 2 minutes later with my same burger that was cut in half now it's burnt! And the same fries that sat in the kitchen while they recooked my burger! Waitress says "I'm sorry I told them to make you another one". I'll take it off the bill, I'm sorry"! The Waitress couldn't tell it was my same burger that I cut in half when she picked up it from the kitchen! Horrible experience, I will never step foot in this place again! read more

A nice assortment of bourbon is right up my alley. Last night we had ribeye quesadillas that were made from high quality steak! So delicious. Great "Irish" onion soup, the kids chicken tenders are amazing. Idc I taxed my kid a little. I know there known for their burgers but they missed the mark a little on mine (I'll give it another try). This is a tried and true neighborhood establishment on Staten Island that has been around for a very long time. I had not been here in many years since I no longer live on Staten Island. However, last week I had to drive my father to Staten Island for several appointments. He lives out of state now and I figured lets stop by and get some lunch. When coming here be mindful that parking is difficult. The tavern is on Richmond Avenue near the train station. There is paid meter parking with a two hour limit. Joyce's definitely has that old New York City neighborhood tavern feeling that does not exist where I currently live. I do miss that by the way. They offer a brunch, lunch and dinner menu that has your typical staples such as: burgers, sandwiches, wings, corned beef, meatloaf and pasta dishes. etc.. The full service bar is long and runs practically the entire length of the wall. They offer a nice selection of domestic, imported and some craft beer selections. My Dad got the Turkey Club and I opted for the Joyce's Burger (mushroom, Mozzerella and onions). The burger and sandwich came with a choice of cold slaw, chips and a pickle. We went with all three. The burger was good and was cooked just right. Overall, the food here is pretty good. I washed it down with a Sam Adams Octoberfest. Just a note, they do take credit cards to pay, however, they will not process the gratuity on the card. They request that you leave any gratuities in cash. Joyces tavern is a local bar and grill within walking distance to my home. Tuesday is 2 for 1 burger night if you dine in. The burgers are some of the best around and I love a good burger. Of course I forgot to take any pics because I was starving when my wife and I stopped in for dinner. Super friendly staff and also has a nice outdoor seating area when the weather is nice. Buffalo rice balls are really good and the pretzel with beer cheese Only downside is the burger comes with chips and you can substitute fries for the chips but they are miss a lot of times and always different. Ordered a chicken noodle soup, that chicken noodle soup changed my life. It was so good. The service came so quick however I don't think you should go there at night still so good if I were you, I'd come to Joyce to every day just not in the night, cause a hopeless person came up to my house, came out of there and came to my car, which was scary but still doesn't have anything to do with Joyce Tavern. Don't think so so buy everything from here and ditch all the other taverns, especially the top of the town Tavern ditched that place. read more

Awful experience. Awful nasty service. Made a reservation for Saturday night 7.45 for 5 people. Arrived at 7.55, the place was packed, standing room only, and no table was reserved. Nasty employee said that they had walk-ins and said "what are we supposed to do, not let them sit?". One of our guests was an older lady who is disabled, and they didn't even offer her a chair to sit. Instead we kept getting shoved around. The smaller room had an empty table for 10. When I asked why we couldn't sit there, the same nasty person said that it's reserved, to which I replied so you held this reservation but not ours. They finally sat us down at 9:00pm after standing for an hour. The waiter came around at 9:30 and took our orders. The first person got their appetizer at 9:30, which was not edible and had to be returned. I got my order at 10:00pm. None of our food was good. One lady at our party accidentally knocked over her full glass of wine. The waiter came over and said "don't worry about it". didn't even offer to replenish the glass or to get someone to clean up the floor. I took a napkin and wiped the floor so that no one slips and falls. One of the ladies in the group ended up with a bad stomach pains and nausea shortly after eating. This was a very unpleasant experience. We will not be going back. read more

Before Covid and shrinkflation I came here for a Burger because I heard wonderful things. Then the burger was fantastic. Cooked the way I ordered it. Fries were delicious and I could honestly say one of the best burgers on the island. Fast forward to this weekend when I ordered the Joyce burger with fries to go. Maybe because the order was to go, but the bun was twice the size of the overcooked burger that was in pieces. The mozzarella, onions and mushrooms were amazing and probably would have been a five star meal had I just ordered that on a bun minus the beef. I love good fries, but the fries were old, oily and had zero taste. I was disappointed paying that much and not enjoying the meal. I am going to say it was an off day, so I will go back and give it another try. read more

Joyce's is a cute little tavern right near the train station in Eltingville. We heard that the burgers were really good so we decided try them. In short this place is a bar. Packed for happy hour. The burgers were char cooked made to order. They were juicy with all the fixins. The waitress was pleasant and attentive. Joyce's hasn't been remodel prob since it opened and same with the ventilation system in the kitchen. Someone strongly suggested that I go in for a hamburger and fries and boy they must've been drunk when they ordered..No, I don't drink yet I really thought it would be a lot better than a slab of meat thrown on the grill and some undercooked fries.. Pretty good burgers!! Tough to rate this place because it's really more of a pub with pub food not a restaurant. It's a solid burger. Not the best I've ever had. Hot dog is just a Regular dog and the corned beef is slightly dry. It's a great local spot with a nice selection of booze. Tap beer is pretty good and they have a decent selection of bottle beer. I would say it's more of a beer drinkers bar than anything. I feel the food it slightly over priced. It kills me to give them 3 stars because I love drinking there, the place has an old school atmosphere. It's hard to find places like this, just wish the food was updated a little. read more

By far the BEST BAR ON STATEN ISLAND!!!!! The food is amazing. Corned beef, burgers, wraps, incredible dinner special. Appetizers are great. The owner and his family are terrific. I went with a friend who recommended this place after she had gone with her girl friends. I was disappointed. The food was okay but staff was rude and unprofessional. One woman who was working was sitting at a table with what seemed to be friends of hers. She was there for 30 minutes at a time without getting up while other workers were going back and forth delivering food. The burgers were okay but over cooked, fries were under cooked also. Drinks were okay. Stupid rules at this establishment such as extra charge for refills of soda/water, no specialty shots or regular shots served, and no buybacks for any alcoholic beverage purchased. How can this place be called a "Tavern" with these silly rules. The rules and service are better at most dive bars than this establishment. First time customer and also last time customer, very upsetting first experience. read more
