This is a tried and true neighborhood establishment on Staten Island that has been around for a very long time. I had not been here in many years since I no longer live on Staten Island. However, last week I had to drive my father to Staten Island for several appointments. He lives out of state now and I figured lets stop by and get some lunch. When coming here be mindful that parking is difficult. The tavern is on Richmond Avenue near the train station. There is paid meter parking with a two hour limit. Joyce's definitely has that old New York City neighborhood tavern feeling that does not exist where I currently live. I do miss that by the way. They offer a brunch, lunch and dinner menu that has your typical staples such as: burgers, sandwiches, wings, corned beef, meatloaf and pasta dishes. etc.. The full service bar is long and runs practically the entire length of the wall. They offer a nice selection of domestic, imported and some craft beer selections. My Dad got the Turkey Club and I opted for the Joyce's Burger (mushroom, Mozzerella and onions). The burger and sandwich came with a choice of cold slaw, chips and a pickle. We went with all three. The burger was good and was cooked just right. Overall, the food here is pretty good. I washed it down with a Sam Adams Octoberfest. Just a note, they do take credit cards to pay, however, they will not process the gratuity on the card. They request that you leave any gratuities in cash. There is an ATM at the end of the bar for your convenience.

We ordered the Forest Ave roast beef sandwich and the fried shrimp appetizer with bang bang sauce. The shrimp had a nice crunch, and the bang bang sauce was good, but its flavor was a bit mild and plain; some garnish like chives can definitely elevate this appetizer further! Our sandwich unfortunately came without the bacon jam and maple bourbon, which meant it was just roast beef double dunked with Gruyère cheese. Unfortunately we didn't realize it until near the end, and although our waitress apologized and brought us a side of the bacon jam, by then we only had a quarter of it left which was a bummer. The roast beef was perfectly cooked and the gravy was rich and deliciously beefy, but the extra Au jus was a bit pricy for how little it was, where it came in the same small plastic sauce container instead of a small bowl/ceramic. I'm sure this doesn't happen often that half the sandwich ingredients were left out, so I guess we were just unlucky we didn't realize sooner, but it nonetheless detracted from our experience and we were charged the full price for the meal. Overall The Point Tavern has a lot of potential of being amazing and serve probably the best roast beef in all of Staten Island; I really wish them the best with their varied roast beef selections! Please give them a try and just check your sandwich before digging into it! Thank you for reading and best of luck! (:

What's the secret at the Point Tavern in Staten Island? They keep things simple! This review is based on my visit this past Saturday Evening - 21 June 2025. Bartender Mike is a true Mensch, if that's even possible, in a place like Staten Island, but he was truly a gem and kept the drinks flowing. This is truly a neighborhood watering hole that is frequented by many, including some friendly and beautiful teachers from the local school across the way. You are struck with an immediate vibe of friendliness and happiness, and visitors to the Point Tavern are truly treated like family. My great friend, "Uncle Anthony," and I enjoyed ourselves sitting and relaxing at the bar. There was a wide selection of draft beers on tap, and the mixed drinks were delicious. Confession: I made the "Shlep" to investigate this "Suspicious" Roast Beef Sandwich. My suspicions were confirmed--amazing, Juicy, Tender, and savory. Sandwiches are made to order and tailored to the customer's likely preferences. The kitchen got it right on the first shot and got me my "Kosher" Roast Beef Sandwich. Trust me, its worth the visit. A+

Like nachos but they use kettle chips rather than tortilla chips. A baked Reuben dip (a special)--so cheesy and savory! A soft baked pretzel--perfect for sharing. Came with a spicy mustard! Then came the real Irish classics -- Irish sausage rolls--thick sausage wrapped in a pastry, a great comfort snack. Shepherds pie--a mix of ground beef and lamb. This was savory and perfect for a cold March day! Fish and chips--the BIGGEST fish ever and it was so light and battered well. And if you're a sandwich person, you have to try The Rail Bender which was a huge sandwich with mouthwatering beef brisket, and came with a savory au jus for dipping. For drinks, we went full Irish with their St. Paddy's day specials: Irish Lucky Charm, Irish Maid, and a Jameson Orange Creamsicle that tasted like dessert. If you're looking for the perfect spot to celebrate St. Patrick's Day all year round, this place absolutely delivers. The service was warm and friendly and was a welcoming place in Spring Lake!

Sandwiches had dried out meat like it sat too long in the fridge. Edible but kind of like they were stretching to make a profit. Keep that that theme in mind as they also charge a credit card fee. If you are willing to overlook the cut corners and additional fees, I guess it's better than eating pop tarts at home.
