We opted to sit in the more quiet and intimate dining area, which had a nice fire place and beautiful Christmas decor to give off a warm family vibe. Our waitress, Jessica, went above and beyond to ensure we had a wonderful first dining experience at The LocaL, where she addressed our minor concerns and socialized with us in a welcomed and extremely friendly manner; Jessica is reflective of what exemplary service looks like and she definitely helped enhance our overall dining experience! Now onto the food: the is by far one of the most affordable restaurants I've been to in Staten Island, where the portion and quality for the price is definitely worth it. The French onion soup and Picasso burger were both phenomenal and I can't recommend it enough! The zucchini fries were humongous for the price (as you can see in the photo) and totally filling! A minor issue we encountered were that the price from the menu mismatched the price on our receipt, a few days were either a dollar or two less or a dollar or two more, so check your bill! Will definitely come back to try their extensive menu for I'm sure there are still so much more deliciousness to be discovered here! Thank you again to Jessica for being so friendly and kind, hope to see you again soon! Thank you for reading and best of luck! (:

I really wanted to like this place because the food itself was good, but unfortunately the overall…read moreexperience was one of the worst I've had at a restaurant. We visited on a Monday night and took advantage of their burger, wings, and beer special, which was an excellent deal. We also asked to sit outside because we have a newborn, and the staff had no issue accommodating us, which we appreciated. Unfortunately, that's where the positives ended. There were people smoking at the outdoor tables immediately next to us while others were eating and drinking. They were also very close to the entrance and the food service area, which I believe is not permitted under New York law. It made for a very unpleasant dining experience. There was no music or TV on for almost our entire visit, making the atmosphere feel dull. They were only turned on shortly before we left. Service was extremely slow and inattentive. Our water glasses were dirty, our waiter rarely checked on us, and, most frustratingly, our food took nearly three hours to arrive. We later learned there was only one cook working that evening, but no one ever came over to explain the delay or apologize. To make matters worse, we watched several parties seated inside after us order, eat, pay, and leave before our food even arrived. It's disappointing because the burger and wings were actually very good. However, good food alone isn't enough to overcome poor service, long waits, lack of communication, and an uncomfortable dining environment. Unfortunately, despite enjoying the food, we won't be returning. A restaurant is about the entire experience, and this establishment fell far short of expectations.

I was so happy hahah. It's been a long time since I enjoyed a restaurant for more than just their food. We came here for my boyfriend's parent's anniversary and the server's were wonderful and honestly very thoughtful as well! They were very attentive to our table and refilled our waters often. I also say this because when my bf's parents ordered the halibut to split, they had brought out their meal in two individual plates that were beautifully plated, you would think they ordered separately! They also took our group picture! :) We ordered 2 orders of the Basement Snacks: For Two, 2 orders of their raw oysters for appetizers. For my entree I ordered the Shrimp Carbonara Rossa with a side of Asparagus. Everything was so good. Their buffalo wings were perfectly marinated and not too saucy, their ribs were so tender and the meat fell straight off the bone! My carbonara was also delicious. For dessert they even gave an anniversary treat which was so sweet. I ordered a Chocolate Cappuccino which was also great. 11/10! Wonderful and would recommend.

We had a lovely night out with a couple who are our long time and good friends and we looked forward to this evening! However, there was a problem at the beginning of the evening that is unacceptable... my husband went to park the car, our friends were waiting at the bar for us, I walked in first. My friend ordered me an Aperol Spritz and my husband a diet coke. My husband does not drink and has been very successful with his sobriety for many years. The bartender, (I later found out her name is Maureen and apparently she is a manager there), misunderstood the drink order so my friend reiterated that we wanted a diet coke and an Aperol Spritz (two separate drinks). The "diet coke" arrived in a soda glass with a lemon wedge (just like a diet coke would) and the Aperol Spritz arrived in a cocktail glass. My husband took a sip of the "diet coke" and asked me if it tasted like there was liquor in it. Sure enough there was. We immediately returned it and the other bartender confirmed that it was a mix of Aperol Spritz with diet coke in the soda glass. My husband confronted the bartender and told her about her grievous mistaken and full disclosure, he said this is a "big f$%ken mistake you made". She took absolutely no responsibility for her error and shouted at him that she "was told to make a diet coke with Aperol Spritz". Truth be told, we clarified the drink order to her and why would she present the "diet coke" in a soda glass if it indeed was a cocktail. She went full "Karen mode" on him when she should have apologized. My request is that she re-trains in customer service and her ability to mix drinks! Like I said above, the food was excellent, the waiter was great, but this error is a serious error. People do make mistakes, but please acknowledge your mistakes and take care with serious issues. The dining experience was great, but I cannot give a 5 star due to the error.

Her steak was perfectly cooked and delicious, succulent, and thoroughly enjoyable. My pork chops were phenomenal in flavor, presentation, and volume. But they did get the best of me when I tried to lift it, slipping off my fork and splashing gravy all over my off-white shirt. Thankfully, it came out once we got home. No room for dessert. I think we each had a drink. Service was accommodating. I definitely would go back for those pork chops and will wear a bib next time.
