Instead, after speaking to Shannon the supervisor, we were told that it was refunded. No solution, no lunch. Not a good business practice here. What a cute bakery on Staten Island! Love the decor and the signs. The assortment of baked goods was almost overwhelming but the attendant was very patient and explained what all the items were. I've been coming to this place for years and tonight was the worst experience. I had met with some longtime friends for dinner at pizzeria Giove and went there for dessert following our dinner. When we arrived at approximately 730 we ordered very simple items... 3 cookies, an apple turnover warmed with ice cream on top and one other pastry. We ordered some coffee and cappuccino. As we were paying the cashier said he didn't have something for the machine and I switched my drink. They asked if the turnover should go on a plate or box, figuring it's ice cream we asked for a plate to sit and eat. What took almost 25 minutes and mixing orders up they finally serve us around 758 PM. Keep in mind, we ordered 730. We sit down and start eating. A worker comes up and says we have to pack it up and leave at about 802. We explained that there was a delay for the food and my friend was eating ice cream. A manager comes over and says we are being kicked out after spending nearly 40 dollars to sit down and converse at 730. I explained calmly that our order had been messed up and that we waited patiently for our food. We had told them it was to stay and then they waited til we sat and started eating to abruptly kick us out. My firmer said his ice cream would melt and she said she'd box it up. He can eat it and walk on the sidewalk. Needless to say they suck terribly and have teenagers with no respect running the place. On a side note, they don't know what one sweetener is and it tasted like I was drinking pure sugar. *** nobody stated that they were closing. They served us food to stay and my friend who ordered - At 730 waited over 25 minutes for ice cream. A refund for melted ice cream would have been nice and 20 plus minutes to pour and serve a beverage was unacceptable. The worker who stated he should take his ice cream to go on the ride home was really considerate. I'm happy I tipped as well, no thank you or ringing of the bell. Maybe the actions of employees spending over 20 minutes, 28 to be exact, to serve three people in an empty store should be the underlying issue, we didn't want to sit two minutes before closing. Had it even been served by 740, we have been out before 8. Waste of money and tip cause we didn't finish our stuff. I'll never consider going back because it's bad business practice. Is it being internally reviewed or are you saying that they communicated it? Were you there? I should have recorded the way we were spoken to. If you look at my yelp history, I rarely review. I was a customer for years and I will never go back in after the way I was treated. A good company would have reached out direct about the matter. Took me a very long time to get here, and the fact it's Sunday didn't help me either . Even tho this beautiful cafe is in the island it literally took me almost 2 hours on public transport to get here. If I was driving that would be a different story ! If I will be back here again & again ? I would have if I was driving ! Feeling sad tho.. Lovee the decor . Customer service was great; while I was deciding what to order on line, 3 people already asked me if I was being helped ! That's very rare this days ! Much appreciated ! Lots of options to choose from . I ordered coffee, pistachio & mocha macarons & blueberry turnover. Didn't like the pistachio macaroon tho. I normally love pistachio! For 3$ a piece the size was huge then other places , so I appreciate that . They have so many delicious sweet stuff that I do not wanna leave now ! But before I start testing everything & gain 10 lb sitting right here I decided that it's time to leave. Btw they have enough space to get a cup of coffee & chill out. It's not like some other coffee places where you feel like can't even breathe! If you live near by definitely a Cafe you gotta give a try , you will love it..! One more thing I have to mention that this cafe doesn't have much of seating but they have made a door to the other place called 'Cookie Jar' & both places uses that area for seating . Best cakes on the island, I love to get the strawberry cheesecake and I love their marshmallow milkshakes. They even have tons of delicious and creative coffee flavors. Most of all though the atmosphere of this place can't be talked about enough. There has been so much thought and care put into all the decorations, you do not find places that are so vintage anymore. with just the service and ambiance alone I give this place a five star. not only were the workers kind and extra communicative but welcoming as well. both piece a cake and the cookie jar share the same owner and the inside also are connected. Went there yesterday 11/26/2025 the day before Thanksgiving and purchased an apple crumb pie for friends giving dinner I had and we got to the dessert we put pieces of the cake that ppl wanted in the oven to heat up the cake and when it came out it looked disgusting the cake looked like someone threw water on it, it looked like a Soupy mess and also forgot to mention they put confectioners sugar on top of an apple crumb pie who does that I've never seen that done ever in all my years of buying pies unless you ask for it and it tasted like stevia sugar which the ppl stated tasted horrible they also said their were no apples to bite into only little cubes of apples. Really adorable, semi-kitschy bakery that makes top-notch apple ring, scones, and ricotta cheesecakes. Deviating from these greats and getting the pesto-egg sandwich and some cookies proved a tad underwhelming. The brioche wasn't very flavorful and the pesto was minimal, surprisingly dry. We come here for our pastries for the holidays as the store is down the street from us . As you walk in the smells are wonderful and you want to eat everything in site. We've had the St Joseph pastries and assorted cookies and they've been a hit to everyone's house we've taken them to . The staff are helpful and have you wrapped up in no time . The prices could be a bit on the expensive side but seems the trend everywhere. Parking is limited so finding a spot out front is purely pot luck. Worth a try for all you bakery fans. read more

not really sure why almost everyone in there has a gross attitude and I only go here because of the convenience of it being next to my job but customer service should have a negative 0 rating here. after this time I'm no longer using this service. I go to pick up an order the charge adjustments for sneakily even though it's not extra food so $20 is charged for one egg one slice of toast and avocado on the side. when you get there no one addresses you and I'm so sick of it because I don't ALWAYS have the 20-30+ minutes to patiently wait there that they think they're entitled to taking every time there's a customer like others have said so I asked if soemone was doing the pick up orders after like many people said an employee walked by without addressing I was waiting there. The employee doing it saw me and continued doing other things. So they both looked very put off they had to do their job at all and I was told she's doing it and give her a minute, which I always give them 25 minutes the shortest everytime. she doesn't address me, I tell her the name and she gives me an attitude, I ask for one thing and looking out off she hands it to me. I say thank you and she gives me a nasty look doesn't say anything back and walks away. This is everytime like other people noted. I'm getting my money back and not going there anymore. I don't have a lot to say. A friend told me about this bakery when I was on the island recently. He suggested a friend and I come here but we wanted dinner so we passed. And with only one exception, a tasteless scone, everything was outrageously good. I recently lost a ton of weight so a place like this will be an occasional indulgence.
