It might seem unlikely that a tree service gets 5 stars but Blue Ox Tree Service is an exceptional tree arborist. They definitely deserve the rating. Sheri owns and operates the business, and has an extremely tight-knit, detailed crew. It was easy to correspond with Sheri via text. She gave an on-the-spot estimate for our tree work, including two large Chinese Elms. Her bid was reasonable and we were able to schedule the work for a few weeks later. A few days before their scheduled arrival we noticed that rain was forecasted and reached out. Sheri was able to reschedule us for a few days after the original schedule. Sheri and her team arrived on time and got to work quickly. I especially appreciated how Sheri had me confirm if I was happy with each tree they worked on. Anything additional I wanted done to each tree was immediately addressed. When all of the trees were finished, they chipped the wood and cleaned up. We used Blue Ox Tree Service again yesterday to help removing the giant pine tree in our yard and had another great experience working with them. The tree has been leaning heavily toward the house and we were concerned about the risk of falling. Blue Ox team planned it carefully and trimmed it carefully as well to avoid any branches falling on the roof to break tiles. The team started around 7:30am and finished the job around 2pm. The tree was completely removed, the roof and the tiles were intact, and the ground was cleaned after the job is completed. We are very happy with the quality and efficiency of the work. Don't let stubborn trees get you down. Give Blue Ox a call instead. The 12-foot elm tree in my front yard was like the "gift that keeps on giving", except in this case, the "gift" referred to hours of cleanup and maintenance every year. I finally decided that this tree had to, err... make like a tree and leave. I got quotes from Blue Ox and another company for removing the tree and grinding the stump. The other company was supposed to be pretty reasonably priced, according to multiple reviews, but Blue Ox's quote ended up being 40% cheaper. Sheri, one of the co-owners of Blue Ox, seems to be the sole contact person. She was also on-site with her crew to remove the tree (but not the stump). Removing the tree and cleaning up took them 40 minutes, and a couple hours later, a subcontractor came by with a stump grinder to finish the job. Everybody cleaned up reasonably well. One thing to note is that Blue Ox only accepts checks for payment, but that's probably part of how they keep costs down. I wouldn't mind using them again the next time a tree needs a fellin'! read more

I have an extremely large fruitless plum tree that had grown over my roof and was so heavy to one side, it was beginning to lean. He is an artist, and somehow the tree is now the perfect size, is balanced and is so graceful and lacy looking. I think half the tree had to be cut away, but what is left is perfect! I could not be happier with the work done by Sheri and her talented crew. She promised artistic pruning and that is what they did. I wanted my Strawberry trees opened up as they had been given several haircuts that just encouraged a dense mass of branches, I know that healthy trees need to be open so the air and sunlight can get inside the canopy but my regular gardener, who is awesome on most things didn't get the whole pruning thing so didn't do a great job with this aspect. I had another company come out and bid and they wanted me to be there to tell them what branches I wanted taken out .....that seemed weird since I am not the expert. So I ditched them and called Sheri at the recommendation of a friend who she's done work for. A whole different story. Sheri knew exactly what I was talking about and the team executed it without hitch. In addition it was very reasonable, quite a bit cheaper that the other bid I received. Sheri and her crew came and trimmed our 8 Palm Trees, the tallest of which was 35'. They were able to use ladders and not spikes so as not to damage the trees. Last summer our gardeners decided to "help out" a truck that was delivering stuff to our driveway by cutting the 60 year old Japanese maple straight across the edge of the driveway.
