It might seem unlikely that a tree service gets 5 stars but Blue Ox Tree Service is an exceptional tree arborist. They definitely deserve the rating. Sheri owns and operates the business, and has an extremely tight-knit, detailed crew. It was easy to correspond with Sheri via text. She gave an on-the-spot estimate for our tree work, including two large Chinese Elms. Her bid was reasonable and we were able to schedule the work for a few weeks later. A few days before their scheduled arrival we noticed that rain was forecasted and reached out. Sheri was able to reschedule us for a few days after the original schedule. Sheri and her team arrived on time and got to work quickly. I especially appreciated how Sheri had me confirm if I was happy with each tree they worked on. Anything additional I wanted done to each tree was immediately addressed. When all of the trees were finished, they chipped the wood and cleaned up. Sheri is personable and it felt good to support a woman-owned small business. read more

I had Blue Ox Tree Service prune and thin a Chinese Elm tree and a Japanese Maple tree and couldn't be more pleased. Sheri came by the same afternoon I contacted her to give us a quote and her team came two weeks later to do the work. I highly recommend them read more

Sheri and her Blue Ox team are excellent! I needed two trees, two large shrubs, and two existing stumps removed. Sheri came out and reviewed the job with me, and provided a very reasonable quote. Her team showed up on time and made quick work of the trees and shrubs, and took everything to the street. A few hours later the chipper truck showed up, ground it all up and then swept up. Finally Teyo showed up with a small lumbering Star Wars attack vehicle and drove into the back yard. I watched from afar as he dialed the power up to 11, and then witnessed the stumps feel the grinding power of his fully operational Vermeer Stump Cutter. I truly felt the power of the Force. Blue Ox took care of everything in one day, and I could not be more impressed with their skill, attention to detail and safety, and the final result. read more

Sheri was great, beginning with the initial consult and fair estimate. She made good suggestions, pointing me to additional resources outside her company that I might use, and was easy going, in a no pressure way. When it came time to do the work, her crew was really good. With her encouragement, they went the extra mile to take care of some extra details/work that I'd asked her about. Finally, the stump grinder guy she works with, Teyo, does amazing work. read more

I called up this place again when I wanted to have a tree pruned down and a dangerous low hanging branch removed. Again the service was wonderful. The quote was inline with what we expected, the staff arrived on time and performed the job with minimum interference to us, and they cleaned up afterwards. Nothing more that what you expect. Overall, a excellent tree service. Also, as a side note, this company came as a personal reference from a family friend. read more

Especially during this past COVID year, we wanted to keep services local. Sheri and her wonderful team are at the top of their expertise. They love trees, have years of experience and it shows. We have a large, old maple tree that has provided beauty and shade, but needed TLC. Sheri was thorough during her consultation and didn't make changes to the quote. Blue Ox's expertise is why we will be repeat customers and highly recommend them for all your tree service needs. Not only was the work exceptional, they left the tree beautiful as well. Thank you Sheri! Kudos to you and your great team! read more

We used Blue Ox Tree Service again yesterday to help removing the giant pine tree in our yard and had another great experience working with them. The tree has been leaning heavily toward the house and we were concerned about the risk of falling. Blue Ox team planned it carefully and trimmed it carefully as well to avoid any branches falling on the roof to break tiles. The team started around 7:30am and finished the job around 2pm. The tree was completely removed, the roof and the tiles were intact, and the ground was cleaned after the job is completed. We are very happy with the quality and efficiency of the work. The team is very professional and we trust their service for any tree related work. Thanks! read more

Don't let stubborn trees get you down. Give Blue Ox a call instead. The 12-foot elm tree in my front yard was like the "gift that keeps on giving", except in this case, the "gift" referred to hours of cleanup and maintenance every year. I finally decided that this tree had to, err... make like a tree and leave. I got quotes from Blue Ox and another company for removing the tree and grinding the stump. The other company was supposed to be pretty reasonably priced, according to multiple reviews, but Blue Ox's quote ended up being 40% cheaper. Sheri, one of the co-owners of Blue Ox, seems to be the sole contact person. She was also on-site with her crew to remove the tree (but not the stump). Removing the tree and cleaning up took them 40 minutes, and a couple hours later, a subcontractor came by with a stump grinder to finish the job. Everybody cleaned up reasonably well. One thing to note is that Blue Ox only accepts checks for payment, but that's probably part of how they keep costs down. I wouldn't mind using them again the next time a tree needs a fellin'! read more

I have hired Sheri and the Blue Ox team twice now to trim large trees and remove small trees in my yard. Sheri was on-time with meetings to provide quotes, and was able to slot me in pretty quickly after initially thinking it might be a few weeks out. The team arrived on time and performed the work quickly as promised. They did a good job of cleaning up as well. Blue Ox pricing is very competitive and provides a great value for tree services. read more

Hired Brandon and his team to take care of some dead/dying trees on my property. Not only did they do an amazing job but they did it with rain being problematic. Fair priced and amazing work! Highly recommend! read more

I was originally looking for Radek, but found that Sheri was now running things. She was very responsive and was able to work with us on our tree jobs. There were a few things that she didn't have on her work list on the day of, but she worked with us day of and got everything done. Sheri was on time for the quote, on time for the job, and finished up 2 tree removals, 3 stump removals, and trimming back 2 other sets of trees within the day. Price was reasonable for the work and I'd definitely include her on quotes for all future jobs. read more

Wow! Sheri responded right away to my request for a bid and came in with a great price. The team showed up right on time this morning and within just a couple of hours, the dead walnut tree (RIP) was down and cut into easily splittable lengths for firewood. Thanks very much! read more

I've had several tree services over the years, and wish I had found Blue Ox much earlier! They came highly recommended to me, and even the positive reviews I've read don't say enough about how wonderful they are. I have an extremely large fruitless plum tree that had grown over my roof and was so heavy to one side, it was beginning to lean. Sheri came out and gave me a price and her crew was at my house a few days later. The man she has doing the trimming and shaping the trees is just amazing. He is an artist, and somehow the tree is now the perfect size, is balanced and is so graceful and lacy looking. I think half the tree had to be cut away, but what is left is perfect! You simply cannot go wrong here. Sheri and her crew are professional, kind, personable and truly experts. On top of all that, the price was so reasonable that there really is no other tree service that can compete with them. I 100% recommend them and I am positive you'll be as happy with them as I am! read more

We needed to have two oleander trees removed. Sheri came out and gave a quote on the day I called. It was super reasonable, and we scheduled the removal quickly. Her team was quick and efficient and they removed all the cuttings. I would highly recommend Blue Ox! read more

Totally happy with this company. Sheri is super pleasant to deal with and made the overall experience painless. We have a rental property in Los Altos that has a large camphor tree need to be remove and Sheri took care of everything from estimate to grinding the stump without bothering our tenant. I will be more then happy to deal with her again for any future tree issues. read more

This company is a JOKE. The person made me wait all day and didn't show up. Customer service has no idea who was supposed to come to my place. If you are in IOWA, don't consider this excuse of a business. read more

Sheri and the Blue Ox team exceeded my expectations. I plan to invite them back the next time that I need tree work done. About a decade ago, I engaged one of the nationwide tree service firms to remove a very large and also very dead pepper tree. Damage to my freshly installed gutters is why those folks didn't get the job this time. I recommend Blue Ox Tree Service. read more

Sherri runs a solid business. Hired twice, they showed up on time, completed the job as I had requested, and, cleaned the area. I would definitely use them again!! read more

Like another reviewer, I was originally calling The Czech Man Tree Service, but got Sheri instead. And I certainly have no complaints. We had an old Eucalyptus that needed to come down. We got a very reasonable estimate. The work was done quickly, and they cleaned up extremely well, even cleaning up some other detritus we had back there! All around, great and professional service. read more

Want to say what a great experience with Sherri and her crew, They did a great job. Thanks read more

My landscape designer recommended Blue Ox to remove a large Blue Spruce in a very tight location. It happened that Sheri and her crew were already working in our neighborhood, so she came by the same day for an estimate and the job was done later the next day. The crew showed great skill and care in taking down the tree, with absolutely no damage to the adjacent structures. I couldn't possibly be more pleased. read more

We had a small to medium tree to remove. I got quotes from multiple contractors and Blue Ox was the best price. The person (Sherri) who came to give the quote was the same person on site managing the work, which is nice continuity. They gave a specific time, down to the hour, and arrived in that window and finished quickly. I asked to add several smaller things to the quote the day of and they did them and didn't even charge me extra. Highly reccomended. read more

I could not be happier with the work done by Sheri and her talented crew. She promised artistic pruning and that is what they did. I wanted my Strawberry trees opened up as they had been given several haircuts that just encouraged a dense mass of branches, I know that healthy trees need to be open so the air and sunlight can get inside the canopy but my regular gardener, who is awesome on most things didn't get the whole pruning thing so didn't do a great job with this aspect. I had another company come out and bid and they wanted me to be there to tell them what branches I wanted taken out .....that seemed weird since I am not the expert. So I ditched them and called Sheri at the recommendation of a friend who she's done work for. A whole different story. Sheri knew exactly what I was talking about and the team executed it without hitch. In addition it was very reasonable, quite a bit cheaper that the other bid I received. I even had them come back the following week and do all my trees in the back yard. Highly recommended, great work Blue Ox crew! read more

My entire experience with Sheri and Blue Ox Tree Service was very positive. For them trimming my two trees was probably a very small job. Sheri showed up on time for the estimate and my trees were trimmed within 2 days. Exceptional service. read more

Great service, quick response, and great customer service. They are at a competitive price and does amazing work.

Our tree was in serious need for a prune. I chose Blue Ox because of Sheri's low pressure sales approach. I wasn't "required" to be at home for the estimate, and appreciated that flexibility. Now the tree looks great. read more

Sheri and her crew came and trimmed our 8 Palm Trees, the tallest of which was 35'. They were able to use ladders and not spikes so as not to damage the trees. They were in and out in under 6 hours and left the yard immaculate. The price was very reasonable for this huge job. I would highly recommend them and will definitely use them again. read more

Left a message and haven't heard back. But this is the beginning of the new year, the beginning of the work week, and it's not unusual to wait a few hours or even a day for service calls to be returned. I reached out to them because they were close to my location. I prefer to use local companies when possible. Only reason for the low rating is that Not Applicable was not as option. read more

This company did significant amount of work for me. I'll be hiring them again. What I like was professional approach, attention to details, being efficient and price-reasonable, polite. Shari was a great person to work with. read more

Last summer our gardeners decided to "help out" a truck that was delivering stuff to our driveway by cutting the 60 year old Japanese maple straight across the edge of the driveway. Sheri was the first to come out (Blue Ox took over for the Czech Man) and she talked me out of the panic attack that my tree was destroyed. They trimmed it out right there, cleaned it up, and let it be. She was great. Her team was superb. And we called her back for more regular tree trimming work. Blue Ox is the best and Sheri leads with serenity and confidence! read more

Excellent service. Easy to deal with, which was not the case with one of the vendors I chose not to use. $1300 to remove a giant three-story magnolia tree. This compares to two other quotes, one for $1600 and another for $2400. Company was on time, completed the job as scheduled. It took less than a full day. I would definitely recommend Blue Ox and will call them again should the need arise. read more

I was initially contacting The Czech Man Tree Service, but Sheri from Blue Ox Tree Service came to me instead. Sheri told me they are taking care of the The Czech Man Tree's business now. Their work really exceeds my expectation and my neighbor's. Unlike some tree service providers who keep talking and talking (even unrelated to the service) to try to get your work, Sheri is very professional during the initial estimate. She looked at the trees carefully, replied to my questions and quickly gave the quote, which was very competitive. In a few days, Sheri came with 3 other members to get the work done: removing a dying tree in my backyard, trimming two palm trees in the front yard and making them really clean. I'll definitely contact them for my next tree work. read more

I had a 28 year old cedar tree in my backyard broken in the last storm. I estimate that it got 40 feet tall and would have destroyed my garden if it fell. Sheri from Blue Ox gave me a quote on Thursday and the crew removed it the following Monday. They brought the tree down by climbing up into it and cutting it into smaller pieces. I appreciated that my garden was not damaged and they provided me with prompt service. read more

Sherry did the tree service for us, she came over immediately and provided a very reasonable price quote. She was very detailed and explained to us all the work items that were needed .She was happy accommodate re planting of nearby shrubs. The overall experience was very enjoyable. She is reasonable and honest. One area I had a bit of difficulty is to get hold of her during her busy schedule to complete the remaining work items such as tree stump removal and pole removal. I am confident she can get around to the remaining tasks soon. I will definitely recommend her. read more
