Contacted Tom to remove a few stumps along my back fence. Access down the side of the house was a bit tight, requiring me to remove a couple of gates... and the fence area was bordered by a the walkway for my pool. But Tom had no problems navigating his grinder, and had plywood shields setup to maintain the debris as he worked. Everything went smoothly and it was a pleasure having him do the work. I'd definitely call him again if I have stump issues in the future. Highly recommended. read more

Tom responded immediately and was very professional. I liked his honesty. It ended up that my tree stump has been rotting for over 35 years and and was powdery and rotted thru. Tom could lift up the roots by hand. I felt bad be came a long distance only to find we could take out the stump by hand. We agreed to a compensation for his efforts and gas to come over. If the stump truly needed removing...Toms estimate was very reasonable. I will truly use Tom and keep him in mind for other tree concerns in the future. read more

Tom 4 Stumps - Stump already rotted away after 35 years so no need. - Tree Services Near Me - San Jose, California

I hired Tom in September 2024 to remove a total of 3 stumps. The stump in the backyard was hard to access and had limited space to operate. The two stumps in the front parking strip were easily accessible however they were surrounded by in-ground irrigation lines. Tom used his small power grinder on the backyard stump. Keeping in mind that he didn't have much room to maneuver, he was able to take out a good portion of the stump. Tom used a pick axe (?) and lots of brute strength to hack out the two front yard stumps. He was cautious around the irrigation lines and I'm happy to report they didn't get damaged at all. Tom is great and I would hire him again in a heartbeat. read more

Tom's terrific, he did an assessment estimate over the phone based on text message pictures which was great. The corporate guys want to visit the property, which takes time to schedule, and everything is a big production, with lot of intermediaries. With Tom it's straightforward, he picks up the phone, he responds to text messages, and he does a thorough job. The underground root bulb and root system was much larger that anticipated based on the tree trunk, Tom did it all, and left everything super clean. Thanks Tom! read more

I requested a quote on Monday and Tom called quickly after. He is very knowledgeable and asked all the right questions and answered all of my questions. He recapped our conversation and the quote and we setup a time for Tuesday. My wife was the one who would be home and would let him in the backyard. She forgot she had something she was doing at the time we scheduled, so I called him back and we were able to reschedule the appointment for this morning. He arrived on time and after meeting my wife he setup and got started. She said he was friendly and polite. As for the job, he did exactly what we had discussed on the phone. I can now plant a new tree in the same spot. Great job! He also left the area cleaner than it was. Definitely will use him again and recommend him to anyone needing this type of service. read more

Let's see. I broke my Hi Lift pulling out a stump. I guess you could say I got "stumped". Didn't feel like renting a truck so I can rent a trailer so I can get a stump grinder and a saw and some ear covers and a babysitter to watch the kids while I do this. Just too much work for one stump. I thought of homeadvisor but I work in tech so have no interest in talking to 20 people over the phone. Researched on Yelp, Tom had excellent reviews, he had the click here to reach out and answered within 20 minutes with a rough number and some questions. Next day he came in, nice and smooth, did the work professionally using his well tuned tools and voila. Now I no longer have that nasty stump from that useless tree that just grew leaves and looked dead in winter. I hated that tree. Thanks Tom. I wish I had more stumps read more

What a pleasure it was doing business with such a responcible, responsive and communicative business owner! Tom delivers it all; good equipment, skill, safe work habits, thoughtful procedure, people skills, honesty. In fact I paid him in cash and there was an extra bill stuck to the other one and he was kind enough to call me and get it back to me!!! His prices are very fair also. He tackled a huge overgrown shrub that was very close to house with a great attitude. Will use him again! read more

Hired Tom to remove two stumps. He was very responsive and very friendly. Came out same day to give me a quote and then returned 3 days later to do the job. Takes a lot of pride in his work and was very reasonable. One of the two stumps had a deep root system that took him longer and was a lot more work then he quoted but he kept his price from the original estimate. A man of his word. Very happy I went with Tom vs the other quotes I received. 5 stars across the board. read more

We had trees beside our driveway removed earlier this year and the stumps removed from the raised planter bed they were in (so we thought). We were having our driveway pavers redone and went to expand the driveway a bit. Low and behold, the driveway team found roots and a tree base the size of a couple of coffee tables there. They called Tom - he came out with only a couple of hours notice and did a very thorough job at a reasonable price. We're happy... read more

Ground an old yucca stump that was in the way of my new deck. Came out day-of, communication was excellent, work was fast (and good!), clean-up was thorough. I went with Tom after reading the reviews - didn't even get competing bids - and I'm very happy. Tom is great! read more

Loved that the owner himself was the main person of contact and person doing the job! Quick reply back when inquiring about service and quotes via Yelp. Very reasonable pricing, my mom and I inquired with 3 other companies before deciding to hire Tom for the job. My mom decided to try and chop down a Mulberry tree with a regular saw in the backyard and at some point in her "project" we needed experts to help get ride of the remainder of the stump and trunk - enter Tom 4 Stumps. He was available next day to help! Tom did an amazing job in a timely manner without any damages to the property. He put up protectors to avoid accidents which we really appreciated since there were windows near the area he was working on. We would highly recommend Tom 4 stumps!
