We Care Tree Care is now called Tree Cherubs. It's the same company and still run by Tory and Herme. Tory is very knowledgeable about trees and has over 20 years of experience. About 9 years ago we had Tory come and trim our 50-year-old Jacaranda tree and we were very happy with the care and concern about the tree and their work. Today, we wanted to have the same people come back out and were happy to discover that they were still around and rebranded as Tree Cherubs. Tory remembered our tree and was happy that we remembered him, too. Once again, he showed his knowledge and understanding of the tree and, again, didn't allow any climbers with shoe spikes for fear of damaging the tree. They took great care in protecting the plants and property below. They worked efficiently and quickly and did a fantastic job for a very good price given the large amount of work they needed to accomplish. They left the yard clean and neat and did a wonderful job at not cutting too much or just topping the tree like so many other tree trimming companies do. We rely on We Care Tree Care (WCTC) for all of our tree care maintenance needs. We have a gorgeous old Jacaranda on the park strip in front of our house. *(Before we moved in, this tree was most likely pruned by an unlicensed company so it looked really unhealthy). We had an initial maintenance performed in 2017 by WCTC and they did such a great job at restoring the Jacaranda that we reached out to them again. It was a quick response and they came out and gave us a break down of what tree care maintenance would be performed. They mentioned how the city requires 8ft clearance for all street trees and how our Jacaranda branches were hanging much lower than that. I also really appreciate the fact that they felt inclined to look at our other trees on the property and ask how they are doing. This is how you know they really care about the health of these trees. Anyone who lives in San Jose knows how trees are scarce here. Not to mention, trees are also notoriously topped which creates irreversible damage. So, it's great to see folks who take the time to carefully assess the best practices for tree care maintenance. Once the major pruning and trimming was completed, we had a chance to take a look and see if there was anything else that needed to be pruned. Luckily, they did such a great job, we didn't see anything major. After confirmation of the work that was done, we had a couple of neatly packed piles of debris and branches left on the street and ready for pick up by the yard trimmings by GreenWaste Recovery. Bad service! The price jacked up from $1250 to $1500 $1800 when Robert(the owner) showed up on the day of the service. Tori(sales manager) gave me the deal for the 3 jobs which are listed below. 1. Eucliptus tree trimming: this was main job to protect my roof before the winter. Tori pointed out with his laser beam which part will be cut which wasn't done. Tori said I'll see tree trunk will be cut like football rack after work done on my curbside. Only small branches were trimmed. See below pictures. 2. Maple trees alongside the fence: I asked to make a shape. No shape was made. 3. Trees around my roof: I asked to trim and clean the roof. Tori said okay to clean the roof. Later they said they don't clean the roof. When Robert showed up on the day of the trimming, he stated to YELL at Tori which made me very uncomfortable, and told me the price is too cheap for the job. They literally robbed me. They took $1250 CASH for $500 job. They do everything by email for the legal purpose but you can't read their contract because of the bad hand writing. If you want clean deal, don't use this service! Responded same day I contacted them. Sent photos via email and had someone out to give bid with a few days. He took the time to look at our trees and understand what we wanted. Arborist explained what was best for the trees and how to get the end result we wanted. Gave a very fair bid for the work we needed. We Care Tree Care lives up to its name. The company only does work for which it is licensed. I needed to get my tree in my front yard trimmed and WCTC was very fast in responding to my request. They were able to meet with me the next day to provide and estimate. After agreeing on the estimate they arranged service that same week. The trimming service was well done and much better then my previous service. It shows that there is a difference using a company that has a licensed arborist. Would definitely work with them again next year. I cannot comment on their performance on the job as we never even got a quote after several attempts. Apparently they use someone unrelated to the quoting process to prescreen potential customers asking for a quote. It took a few attempts and any back and forth emails to find out if they charge for a quote or not. Turns out it depends on they the of quote you are asking for (tree health or trimming). Not complex, but that could have been explained in one reply and then I could have made my decision on whether to proceed or not. Overall the screening process was unnecessarily complex and required more back and forth that I felt reasonable to simply get to a person that describe the quoting process and schedule the quote. It's a tree service, I am not selecting a medical plan. It should not be that troublesome to just decide if I want to get a quote. read more

The manager spent the time walking me through the process and answered all my questions until I was comfortable with the estimate and understood the scope of the work. We Care Tree Care is the absolute best tree service I've ever dealt with. My previous contractor had taken six months to do a job, and got it only halfway done. They came out, looked at the tree and said, "We can get it done in a single day at the latest." They came out the next morning ready to work, and good lord did their team work. Two hours and fifteen minutes later, this massive cottonwood tree was down from our backyard, chopped up, the stump ground, and all the grinds hauled away. They did in two and a half hours what the other company couldn't do in six months. They were polite, professional, hard working, knew their stuff, and most importantly: They left the worksite clean! I have used these guys at least four times, maybe more. I have never been dissatisfied with the customer service or the work. These guys literally care about trees. They will not do that ugly "topping" that so many others do. They make their cuts look natural. To a fresh eye, you would just think how nice the trees look, you would never know that they had just been trimmed. They work to keep the shape and the natural look of the tree. It just looks nicer, not naked or stumpy. I just had them out because I was hearing some squeaking and realized that my tree was rubbing against the power lines to my house. As I type this it's summer in California and I am taking no chances! They showed me the finished product and we agreed to go a little more aggressive in removing anything even close to the lines. The trees look great and no more scary squeaking. These guys are so professional. If you're reading this trying to decide who to choose, be sure to look for reviews where people have actually had the work done by them. I have. Many times. Contacted this company for an estimate. This was their email response, out the gate: "Our estimate is free but when conscripted for actual service, our minimum service fee is $700. We bill at a minimum of $350 per hour, before Liability Assessments. We do the bids on the weekends as we are involved with the work process, Monday through Friday." Love their attempt to discourage a potential customer. If you can't be bothered to do an estimate unless it's convenient for you, just say that...you're busy, I'm busy... So I am going with a company that actually came out to meet me face-to-face and actually evaluate my situation. Are they more inexpensive? Ha-ha...Nope! But they know how to treat a prospective customer. So if you actually get through to this company and they actually do work for you - looks like you might be happy. If you want to be treated like a valued customer, this is not the company. Edit---- I have to say i was pleasantly surprised to get a random visit from Tory of WCTC. (I also got a chance to speak to the owner of the company who was on the phone.) Tory stopped by to apologize for the bad impression he gave me and to let me know that he never intended to make me feel like my business was not important to the company. How rare in this day and age to actually get a personal apology when they could just as easily have brushed me and my review off? I think it speaks volumes to the company's values that they did not want me to keep a negative impression. Great company. Very knowledgeable team and their execution was top notch. I will not hesitate to review them or use them again in the future. The details our of job: 1. Took down about 5-6 various trees that died in the drought. 2. Pruned a few very mature fruit trees and a couple of young ones. 3. Completely tore down a problematic palm tree (including breaking up the trunk and all the leaves so that they are easily disposed in the yard bin and my neighborhood doesn't let you leave it on the side of the road) 4. We just had an outstanding experience with the We Care Tree Care crew of two. The team was professional and friendly and passionate about their work. They removed a gigantic diseased pine tree from our backyard and also trimmed a few adjacent trees. It was fascinating watching them expertly cut and lower the branches with ropes. They laid down several tarps to protect our nice stone patio and easily collect debris. They finished quicker than estimated and left our backyard tidy. The branches, leaves and wood were neatly piled up in the street. We look forward to working with them next year when we get our other pine tree removed. read more

These guys are great. We'll definitely be using them again in the future for any tree care or trimming jobs. They: 1. Responded quickly via Yelp's messaging system 2. Also responded quickly to follow up messages to set the date 3. Came out to the house on a weekend to take a look at our trees 4. Were very thorough in describing the problems with the trees and what they'd try to do 5. Trimmed all the dead areas of our trees and did some preliminary work to rebalance them 6. Dropped a ton of knowledge on us about what was happening with the trees and how they got that way (bad cuts about 20 years ago) 7. Cleaned everything up In the middle of the job, I was a bit worried they'd be able to clean everything up, but they did! They even kept most of it out of my pool (a tough job as one of the trees was very close). WCTC removed a podocarpus, loquot and apricot tree from our backyard. It was our first job with them, and they were very efficient, cleaned up extremely neatly after the job, and the space looks great. We called them back for a quote to thin out a humongous holly oak in our backyard. The quote was very reasonable, and I respect how much they care for the health of the trees. They educated my husband and I on the legal guidelines for shaping a tree, versus "topping" which is really bad for the tree's health. They provided printed materials with pictures to explain why these laws are in place, and why it's in the best interest of the tree. We're thrilled to have WCTC back next week to thin out the tree. It's disheartening to read others slam WCTC on Yelp for doing the right thing, what's in the best interest of our trees and in accordance with the law. I suspect they fall into the category of people who want to do what is quick and easy for them, but not necessarily kosher (aka "topping"). I couldn't say enough wonderful things about WCTC for their integrity and work ethic. This is going to be our 2nd time working with them, and they are truly our household choice for quality tree care. read more

I've hired tree trimmers once a year, usually just from flyers or someone trimming in a neighbor's yard. This year I researched a bit and liked the good reviews of We Care Tree Care, so I gave them a call. Response was quick and communication was easy via text and email. I used Yelp's "Request a Quote" feature for We Care Tree Care and three other tree service companies, and only W.C.T.C. responded at all, and they did so in under 15 minutes. After their initial call back, everything was done through email, and they were responsive and easy to work with. They came out for an estimate a couple days later, showed up right on time. They were very engaging and articulate, not to mention patient with my numerous questions. Their quote was thorough and reasonable, and they didn't pester me with follow-up calls/emails while I was getting other quotes. Once I chose to use W.C.T.C., we scheduled a time over email. They showed up a few ahead of schedule and got right to work. They were quiet, fastidious, and again very thorough. They had me look at each tree as they finished it, and they quickly made adjustments based on my comments. After they'd finished, they cleaned my yard completely of all debris. The trees look great, the crew was enjoyable to work with, and the price was reasonable and competitive. Many thanks to We Care Tree Care and their crew for taking good care of us! To the one-star haters: I noticed that none of you actually had work done by W.C.T.C., so I'm glad I didn't lend any credence to your reviews. And for the record, I only had 3 pines in my yard, not 4 so I don't appreciate the lies saying I did not abide by the city law. Which clearly I did before removing the trees. The We Care Tree Care team did an incredible job on our giant willow tree last week. The tree was in really bad shape, dead limbs, incredibly overgrown and when they finished up it is absolutely awesome, very clean, looking healthy and strong instead of shaggy and sick.
