What a fun venue! Highly recommend!! The drinks are very good. The food was excellent! The entertainment top notch!!! Go there! Enjoy the entertainment and have fun! Nice somewhat small venue. Service was excellent and didn't detract from the show. Highly recommend the Blue Note!

Food & Drink The better half of the world food tour duo had other plans, so I invited my sister-in-law to see Stanley Jordan. We chose a table on the upper level on the right side of the center section. This gave us good views of the stage and no one in front of us blocked our views. We ordered double Hendricks gin & tonics, a Caesar Salad, Portobello Arrabbiata, and the Jidori Coconut Basil Chicken. Interestingly, the pasta dish didn't have any portobello mushrooms; it featured pieces of Maitake mushrooms. Like before, the pasta was somewhat overcooked, but the spicy marinara sauce was fine. The chicken half came with what tasted like plain rice sitting in a coconut cream sauce. The rice was described as crispy cilantro lime rice ... I don't think so. Our biggest complaint about the chicken was that it was slightly overdone ... My leg was fine, but the breast meat was dry. We passed on dessert and I had a cup of black coffee. Food rating: 3+. The Concert I've followed Stanley Jordan for a long time and have many of his albums, starting with Magic Touch in 1985. That CD opened my ears to a different style of guitar playing. I thought I was a guitarist .... No, I'm a hack. Stanley, now 66, played his Vigier (a French guitar), another one whose name I couldn't see, and a grand piano during his 1.5-hour set. I wasn't able to check out his pedal setup. If you haven't heard him play, you are missing out on a virtuoso of improvisational jazz. Trained as a pianist, he plays with both hands, on one guitar or two. He played two songs seated at the piano and switched hands during each ... All while singing. His set included Yesterday, Eleanor Rigby, My Funny Valentine, and a couple of songs from his forthcoming album, Feather in the Wind. The Blue Note is perfectly suited for small scale / solo performances by artists like Stanley Jordan. Highly recommended! Concert rating: 5+.

I had a great experience at Blue Note for the Yuki Chiba concert. The lines were controlled, and the food/drinks were on point. Tried the Blue Note Sundae and Tiramisu. Both were delicious and very cool how you can dine while watching the show. Only issue I have is that although you buy premium seating - it's still FCFS, so you need to show up early if you want good seats. Another big plus is that they had a pretty good non-alcoholic menu for the people who don't want to drink alcohol (like me). I really enjoyed my experience and the server was helpful. This type of venue is more intimate and definitely a good idea for a cool night out.

Blue Note Hawaii was on fire for Mindy Smokestack's 10th Annual Amy Winehouse Tribute. The second you walked in, you could feel that "this is gonna be a good one" energy -- and the performers delivered all night long Mindy Smokestack set the tone with a lineup that was stacked with talent. Kristina Bair came in with vocals that hit you right in the chest, Cardamom brought that warm, smoky vibe, and The Elevations kept the groove tight and clean. Every performer -- Kessa Armstrong, Kevin Brown, Ayano A McPeek‑Bailey, Tazra Gomes, Belen León -- added their own flavor, making the show feel like a full‑on celebration instead of a copycat tribute The crowd was locked in, the band was dialed, and the whole night felt like one of those "only in Hawaiʻi" experiences where the music, the room, and the people all sync up perfectly. And of course the food was fire

I've been to the Blue Note multiple times over the past years, and this is my first review of it. I realized that the overall experience may change, based on your excitement and enjoyment of the show being watched, so I decided to rate it based on just the food and service as a venue, without regard to the show that I attended. The menu does change (both food and drinks), depending on the artist performing, so that's a positive. At least management knows that the audience demographic, and their tastes in dining, changes, based on the artist. The food is prepared by the Sheraton chefs and is fairly average, especially for the premium prices being charged. The prices equal what you'd pay at a high-end restaurant, but, due to the layout, and venue showtime, it is difficult for the staff to provide the level of service that would be expected. The food preparation and taste are good, but not great; same with the bar drinks. If I included the enjoyment of the show, I'd add another star (or two), but that's too random, especially because you're paying separately for that ticket. If you want to enjoy the food experience a bit more, I'd recommend arriving and waiting in line to be one of the first to enter, to have as much time to order, get served, and eat, before the show starts. Even then, the quality of F&B service is a bit overpriced, imo. Also, I've always parked at the Outrigger East hotel on Kuhio, and they usually charge $6 for up to 4 hours, with validation. This night though, I was charged $10. Just another annoying glitch.

July 18, 2026 - attended the KPop dance event. The Blue Note venue, event, and wait service was great however the food was sub-par and over priced!. Sodas were flat, food took long (granted all orders were going in at once but it did almost an hour which included waiting to place to arrival of food). Ordered a kids meal and this pork shrimp, basically shumai. It seemed like it was costco products throughout but was over priced. Guess it was a donation. Staff was great and friendly. Hotel was under renovation so it wasnt super conformable regarding temperature. Meow.

We went to a concert at. the Blue Note in Waikiki to listen to Josh Tatofi. Go early because Tatofi sell out this venue. We got in line by 4:30 and they start seating at 5:00, We were seated at a table for 4 and shortly later our server came to take our orders, you have to spend $20 per person at this venue. Since nobody drinks alcohol on our table were ordered food. Our table ordered scallops which changed from encrusted with pistachios to sauted in wine, two orders of smoked ahi dip and an order of poke nachos. The scallops were not seared and it was a shame that they were tasteless. The smoked ahi dips were also a disappointment, pretty bland. The ahi poke nachos were over sauced which made it too messy to eat. I wish we drank alcohol because that would be better than the food here. Saving grace was that Josh Tatofi and gang were awesome. I will return to listen to music again but I may not order food again. I've heard that the food has been terrible for years.

Came here to watch Courtney Barnett's solo show. You can dine-in and they have a dollar $20 minimum per person, food and/or drinks. JP was our server for the night and provided excellent service. The venue is cozy and some people, including my wife, complained about how warm it was. It ended up getting busy as the venue filled up, so service seemed a bit affected. The prime rib was delicious! My son enjoyed his...and most of mine. The wife had the shrimp scampi which she enjoyed very much.

Went to see Foghat Blue Note. Excellent menu with wonderful entrees and desserts. I ordered the poke nachos and ahi dip. Its a good idea to line up early for the best seat selection. Sat in an area with a great view so I was able to take great video. Courteous and prompt waitress. I parked at the Royal hawaiian shopping center. It was a wonderful evening.

This was a great venue with an intimate setup to have a great view of the musicians. The show was short at only about an hour, but it was packed with great music from Iam Tongi's band. The food was less than average and quite pricey so I would recommend eating beforehand!

Cold bread given for the pasta. Pasta noodles were overcooked and sauce had no flavor. Lobster pieces were good though.

Man, this was a difficult experience from start to finish. I will say that the staff was nice, even if they were a bit scattered and kept delivering the wrong items to our table. In summary: If you're seeing a show here, try to spend only what you must ($20/person) and dine elsewhere for food. Food: Food was mediocre at best, but prices were exorbitant. My friend and I ordered the Pistachio scallops ($25) and the Lobster Carbonara ($40). She also got a AMF. Pistachio scallops - Only three pieces given. Scallops were good and not overcooked, but the carrots that covered the dish seemed like they were shredded hours earlier and were dry and shriveled. Lobster Carbonara - Lobster pieces were good, but the sauce lacked flavor. I asked the server for salt and pepper, and they said they'd look for some, but never returned with any. Noodles were overcooked and mushy, which made the dish kind of gritty. We were also offered bread for the pasta, but ended up being charged $10 for three and a half pieces of cold focaccia. AMF - My friend said the drink was strong, which was a plus! Service: The silverware we were given in the wrapped napkins were still dirty, with food stuck to the back of the forks. Asked a passing server for new cutlery, and they were kind enough to bring us fresh sets. Runners kept bringing food to our table that was meant for neighboring seats. DURING PAYMENT - their tip options automatically default to the following three choices in the following order: 25%, 20%, 30%. I think this is incredibly sneaky on management's part, so please be aware. Parking: We parked at the Outrigger Ohana Waikiki East on Kuhio and received the validation for $6/4hr. However, when I used the machine, it charged me $10 and ignored the validation. I called the help button and the employee kept hanging up on me, until I used a different machine at the exit and someone actually picked up. The attendant told me that "that's too bad your validation didn't work." And just hung up on me. Wtf?? Why even offer validation at that point? I wouldn't come back to Blue Note again anytime soon unless there's an artist I'm absolutely dying to see, and if I do, I'm now wise to their tricks.

Five stars for ambiance and customer service. Green loge and seating area are first come, first served. Kudos to my dear friend and YE, Marissa K for scoring prime seats and view in half moon, plush green cushioned booth for Jiaoying Summers Comedy Show. I hurriedly rushed in from commute, traffic after work. Made it 30 mins before show time thanks to valet. Jiaoying kindly requested no photography and videography during the show. Able to see well from the distance. Great customer service from the Servers. They're willing to turn the lights in a different direction if shining too bright. One star for food. Calamansi Spritz: Mocktail didn't make a good first impression. Watered down. Some carbonation. Barely tasted calamansi. Hawaiian Shrimp Ceviche: Shrimp tasted uncooked b/c it was extra soft. Taro chip tasted good. We returned this appetizer after one try to our Server, stated the shrimp tasted uncooked, extremely soft, and if we could order something else. We didn't get charged for this app. KJ's Bourbon Bread Pudding: Worst bread pudding I've had in terms of taste, texture and presentation. Too mushy! New York Cheesecake: This dessert passed our test for discriminative palates. Edible. Please make improvements and serve top quality food and beverages. Food and beverage experience spoiled what's supposed to be a memorable evening of live performances with required minimum to spend $20 pp.

    $45 catch of the day
    Sherene H.

There is currently construction happening at Outrigger, so the lobby was small and cramped. We came here for Tumua at 7:45 for his 8:30 show and the line did not exist. We tried to make a line but they opened the doors at 8:20 and everyone just went to the door. People waited in line and people who just came cut in the mov of people. Very annoying. No one to monitor the line and was told to gather in the far corner which caused no line. Terrible and disappointing. Didn't get in until 8:35 and the show was suppose to start at 8:30.. When we came in and ordered at 8:42 all the main dishes were sold out. The braised short ribs, lamb polenta, and the steak... We ordered the garlic edamame that was $14 but so little bit! Literally a handful.. should be $4 at the most. The salmon was the catch of the day for $45 which was dry. The rice was very tasty it was garlic cilantro. Tumua was excellent and hilarious. Blue note is terrible though. I don't like that you must buy $20 worth of food or drinks if young a premium seat. They also need to hire someone to manage the line so there's no cutting or chaos. Not sure if I want to return back for a show at Blue Note.

Blue Note Hawaii Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Blue Note Hawaii

Is the minimum truly $20 per person (like each individual person has to meet that), or for a couple would it be $40 between the two?

I've never seen this "rule" strictly enforced. One standard drink or food item comes pretty close to the amount anyway, so a couple spending $40 total should be fine. They really just don't want people going there and not spending anything.

I understand having to share tables but does that count for the booths too?

Aloha, Yes, all seating is communal, including booths.

How is the parking? Is there height restrictions in the lot? Thank you

Hello Lance, We validate parking at Outrigger Paradise and for the valet at Outrigger Waikiki Beach. The height restriction for both is 6'4"

Am I able to check on previous tickets to confirm my purchse for coming show?

Aloha Hayden! If you need help looking up a purchase or confirmation number, you may email us at club@bluenotehawaii.com or call 808-777-4897.

Is there live jazz every day?

Go to the web site for their schedule, they have a variety of music and comedy shows. bluenotejazz.com

Where's the best seat to sit? Booth ? Or Front tables?

Pretty subjective, but I like the booths or being at the from tables. Great view, and the booths are easier to get the servers too

Regarding the bar area... are their seats or just standing to view the performance? It looks like their may be seats facing the stage?

Aloha Michael! There are about 20 bar stool seats at the counter, facing the stage, then it's all standing room.

I was wondering is it OK if we arrive a little late to the comedy show? Our tickets say it starts at 7 but we can't get there until a little bit after that so I was just wondering if late comers are allowed.

Yes we have been to shows there late. Only thing is table or seats are first come first serve. Hope this helps. Enjoy!

Is there wheelchair van accessible parking close by and how much does it cost? I Will be pushing my spouse in his wheelchair so would like it to be as close as possible. Thanks!

Aloha Wendy! We recommend valet parking at the Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort (where we are located). There are elevators you can take up to the second level to our entrance. The cost to valet is $15 for up to 4 hours (we provide validation stickers…

How much does it cost for valet parking with validation? Same as Hula's $6 for 3 hours?

    $15

How early should I get there if I have loge tickets?

Best to go about an hour before, You will be seated depending on your tickets are in will be on a first come first served. You would get your choice of seats if you go early.

Wheres the best seats for 2 people ? Thank you in advance !

The booths are best and go fast. As early as 45 minutes before the show they're taken. Next best is the floor seating in front of the band. Many seats here, but you could be blocked by someone in front of you. I would just avoid the ends of the…

How should one dress going there? It says casual, but T-shirt and jeans casual or business casual or something else? What would you recommend?

Business casual or Aloha attire is good enough to attend Blue Note Hawaii

Can you get gift certificates? Christmas is coming up.

Aloha Lena! We do offer gift cards for inside the club, valid for food & beverage. We don't have a way to offer ticket gift cards, but we've had several guests purchase tickets for someone and also buy them a restaurant gift card to package it as a…

I purchased Premium seating for an upcoming show thinking we would have seats, but a friend told me that even with Premium seat purchasing, you still may have to stand. Is this correct? As I thought the standing room/area was the bar area.

There is tables, booths, and bar seating. There are tables right in front of the stage which are for those that bought a premium ticket. Same with some of the booths. With the tables, seating is groups of 4, some might be 6 or 8 depending. If you're…

What is the difference between Lodge seating and Premium seating at the blue note? Is premium a better experience

Lodge is cheaper than premium seating. But no matter where you seat in the blue note, it's still a nice view and an up close view of the stage.

Where is the best place to park?

Hi! There's parking at the Ohana East Hotel. $6 for 4 hours, with a validation from the Blue Notes Gift Shop.

Do you have to share your table with others if your purchase a premium or table or loge seating?

It depends on how packed it is. If there’s empty seats you can have your own table. If it’s packed you’ll have to share tables.

Parking is always an issue but luckily we got there early...early enough to find one right away as it fills up quickly which you'll have to park at the next lot which can be a distance that we didn't want. What I wasn't prepared for was the wait as the time to enter was delayed by 30 minutes I did wished that I knew you could bring your own water just as long it's in a plastic bottle though there was lots of food options there it was spread out so far I wished there was just a single place to order but I was already exhausted from waiting that all I wanted to do was find our seats. He really helped make this event a more comfortable and intimate one. My friends and I sat in the first row where we could check out the jewelry and shoes (and bare feet) of the band. We enjoyed watching them communicate through gestures and eye contact and how they pressed the buttons of the amplifiers with their feet! I truly enjoyed watching Ka'imi's fingers glide over the frets of his guitar so effortlessly. ..He's a very talented songwriter even though he sang songs from the Doobie Brothers, Prince, and the Pixies, too. I was also amused by his playfulness as he approached the electric fan which blew his long hair wildly around his face! We're grateful to be invited to the Oceanic VIP Music Hall. It's a very special place! Hope to get another chance to return!

Ah the Road Runner Music Hall, they renamed it, it's now called the Oceanic VIP Music Hall! Yeah…read moredifferent but i guess Road Runner wasn't fast enough. This has to be my FAVORITE part of Clear Channel! Posters on the wall from previous artists that have performed to the couches you can chill on, how can anyone not like it here? Sometimes it can get cold, it just depends. I don't know what else to say, if I had to pick watching an artist at the music hall or at a venue, I'd rather it be here. It's just cool like that.

The drink is on a stronger side. My last visit, they gave us complimentary salted seeds and mixed honey nuts to pair with our drinks. They also have complimentary valet parking, all you have to do is tip the driver.

There's no: "Moonglow" (Benny Goodman) or "That was my heart" (honor to Ella Fitzgerald), so I asked for my favorite aperitif, "Dubonnet" , no. But, they came up with my other favorite, sambuca Mist. I have to agree with another reviewer that the French baguette served with the charcuterie was hard as could be and inedible. I did not enjoy the choice of cheeses as they were both of the same hard boring tastes, unimaginative, mix it up. They olives should be pitted. The tiramisu dessert was very delicious, even though very small, but expected--after all its fine dining. I have no other way to tell new manager to up their game in the food and beverage department. Just wouldn't expect Halekulani to slip in these departments. Also, manager never came around or was seen checking in his or her patrons, not very 5 star there. Just being honest. The complimentary valet parking was exceptional. Thank you for a very enjoyable evening.

And boy were we both blown away (so much so that I believe she returned the next day with others!). The menu had been completely revamped and seemed to take on a more local influence while still being very upscale. Since we both enjoy "sampling" we shared two appetizer and a main. Everything was bursting with flavor! This is what we had: Starter salad from the seasonal menu of watermelon, strawberries, blueberries and greens served on a bed of yuzu infused goat cheese and drizzled with a shiso chimmichuri sauce. Yes, bursting with flavor! I would return for just this dish! Next shared was a tempura battered cauliflower served with a robust curry and yogurt reduction. Deeeelicious. I wouldn't say we licked the plate... but I won't deny it. Hahah. Finally shared the seafood in curry soup (think a lighter version of laksa) served with white rice on the side. Holy moly. No words to describe. Portions were generous enough to share still next time, I won't. That memorable you won't want to share. No longer serving volcano black rolls, tho absolutely serving amazingly wonderful dishes. Volcano black pancakes still available at breakfast. We kept on oooing and ahhhing and asking about the chef. Our servers Gale and Lily, who provided the most awesome service told us "Chef Lance" (as he is affectionately called) moved over from the Mariposa (Restaurant in Neiman Marcus) over a year ago. Further research revealed Chef Lance Kosaka has brought experience from noteworthy restaurants: Top of Waikiki, Merriman's, 53 By the Sea, and most recently Mariposa. I am hoping he will bring in a notable creme brulee that I loved at both the Top as well as Mariposa! Not wanting the deliciousness of Chef Steve's cooking to end, I also ordered a warabi salad to go for the next day. It was...just as wonderful as the other dishes we enjoyed. Thank you to Servers Gale and Lily, Chef Steve, actually...the entire staff who elevated a casual evening of dining to be a most memorable experience! Thank you to sister friend Karen who insisted we dine here, for the most wonderful company and meal. Validated parking in the building accessed on Seaside. Validated for either 2 or 3 hours depending on the promotion. Kamaaina discount of 10 percent given. Will we be back? Absolutely. And I won't wait so long this time to return!
