Minneapolis moving services are some of the most expensive anywhere I've experienced. I hope that simply means that MN companies pay their labor well. We paid $1365 + $180 tip (optional, but come on) for a 3-man crew at $260/hr (2-hour minimum), and we obviously also provided snacks and drinks (they declined breakfast). For comparison, in San Francisco it was $250/hr for 5 men. The rate was with both the weekday discount and winter pricing. Weekend would have been $285/hr for 3 men, and $345 for 4 men. There was no trip fee. Robert, in particular was incredible; he moved a 6 drawer dresser down a tight stairwell alone. They needed to remove the front door at one point, but did so without issue. They also were happy to use our own furniture pads and plastic wrap (leftover from a cross-country move). At one point, they had to back the huge truck through the alley on icy ground, and had no problems. Also, it was easy to provide them inventory by email, and easy to reach them by phone. Lots of moving companies were annoying to contact, which is partly why we chose this one. One a few minor issues: one piece of furniture was shedding pieces of wood. I think they were reinforcements put on by previous owners. I didn't even know they were there, and it doesn't seem to have affected the furniture. They also forgot a couple of items in the yard, including a big smoker we had to move on our own. It's partly my fault, I told them we were good to go. Also, we were made to sign a lot of paperwork, and at various points it was for things like "you confirm that nothing is broken and everything has arrived" and, like, it's weeks later and I'm still unpacking, there is no way I would have known for sure. It's fine, because so far we have had no issues, but if someone did have issues it might feel like being strong-armed via contract. The guys in the truck were just doing their jobs, so it's the process that is problematic more than anything. We would use these guys again!

When they arrived they took a quick look at amount of items and then got to work usually taking 2-3 boxes per trip to truck. They wrapped items in blankets then plastic wrap to keep safe or just plastic to keep drawers in place. They even moved and loaded all the extra random items like packages of toilet paper and a bag of canned food. At the new place they laid down rugs and plastic to protect the floor as they moved items in. They made sure furniture was placed in the area we wanted and even helped adjust as needed. The moving company arrived and it was not the company that we picked.. They were not good. We had a lot of damage to our furniture. I did get some minor reimbursement but not happy with the entire process. I actually had to call for our bill. I did talk with one of the office managers about this experience and was told our move manager was being encouraged to retire. The quote was wrong, the movers were slow and one was exceptionally unprofessional (by any standard) cost me over 3x my estimate and there was damaged property involved and issues with fixing the problems. Don't use them. A pick up truck and 2 guys from the nursing home could be faster. I was so disappointed. 11.5 hrs instead of 3 and a half. The level of detail is always impressive. They really get the dirty areas that we never seem to clean ourselves, like inside the oven, stovetop, refrigerator, microwave, etc. I was also impressed with how they cleaned the grout in our bathroom. Nice guys too - polite and personable. I highly recommend them. The only reason I'm not giving them 5 stars is their truck broke down on the job before them, so they had to scramble and rent a UHaul, making them an hour late. The one hour late really caused no major issues but they could only get a 10' truck (!) on short notice -- their truck that broke down is a 16', I was told. Now these guys are really good packers, but this meant a few boxes and misc. were left behind. This meant me making a couple of trips 30 minute one way to pack my Nissan Sentra. Assuming their truck does not have ongoing issues, I recommend them highly, but suggest you ask ahead of time if the truck is in good shape for the job. No extra fees, just a straight hourly fee and we were definitely in agreement on the total time they worked (and drove), which in my case was 4 hours.
