Spoke to my husband, then spoke to myself. For some reason they thought I was a scammer because I didn't want to leave my 4 kids and fly in to sign paperwork because "they've seen this scam before". I sent a RABBI and another car dealer in IL willing to buy the car for me (so NOT out of state) and to attest to my character - they decided that additionally was scammer behavior. A rabbi????? My husband then spoke to the General Manager who said if we show him a ticket and we wire the funds they'll sell us the car. So we wired $60k to show them good faith and looked up tickets for a flight. We were waiting for confirmation they received the $60k before we sent the rest and booked a ticket. We sent the money in good faith hoping they'd hold the car while we were purchasing tickets - that we had to coordinate around the schedule of FOUR kids. The next day we were told they weren't going to sell us the car, they doubled down on us being scammers (yet we were willing to fly in, I sent my drivers license, my business documents, and the wire confirmation to them). Now they refuse to answer the phone, have actually told us to stop scamming them while hanging up on us (they've apparently told every single person who answers the phone to treat us this way as well) and I had the manager call me asking why I keep calling their dealership... give me my money and I'll stop! You think I'm going to hand over $60k and then just shrug when I don't get it back? I guess I must be too busy on to my next scam... ridiculous We've involved the sheriff department who has verified we are REAL people and took our documentation and saw for their own eyes the money out our account (verifying it was ours at the same time). I look forward to the moment the dealership realizes the money is legitimate and is forced to return it to us. I don't even want to speak to them anymore. Look at the wire, see it's real, and return my money. Good riddance. Disgusting treatment. Just be careful if you're a female and have your husband talk to them AT ALL. If they deal with more than one person apparently they can't comprehend that and think you're scamming them. If you have hesitations as a mother and try to find a different way to sign documents other than an all day trip/flight away from your kids (even offered to go to a notary local to me to have someone verify my identity), be careful they might think you're a scammer. And for goodness sake, don't send your rabbi to them to vouch for you and help you buy the vehicle. They definitely will think you're a scammer! All this and I even offered to still fly in and do whatever it is they needed to prove who I am to purchase the vehicle. What was a simple car deal 45 days ago has turned into a paperwork nightmare. First, they screwed up the loan so had to go get my own financing after 15 days. Now they won't send title. I can't register vehicle, can't transfer plates (which they said they would do), can't pay taxes..basically stuck in limbo until they do what should have been done 25 days ago. I brought my 2016 Subaru Outback to Leader Automotive in Bloomington-Normal, IL on March 10th, 2023. After 2-3 weeks they called me and said the radio was repaired. I had an appointment to see a 2021 Mercedes C300. I walked in and was greeted by a nice young lady at the desk. She then asked me if I would like a coffee or water and walked me to the salesperson who was going to show me the car. He had the car cleaned, warmed up (heated seats on!) and ready for me to drive. To make a long story short. I loved the car and bought it for a fair price. I even got to ring a bell with my favorite song playing in the showroom and the General manager came out and Thanked me for my business! I made an appointment for my 10000 mile service on my 2023 Lincoln Corsair on a Thursday morning. I asked if I could use my Lincoln points to pay for it, the service person said she didn't know and then transferred me to the Lincoln rep for the answer. I left a message and my phone number with my question and asked if he could return my call. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday went by with no response. My appointment was on Monday, so I called and waited 10 minutes when there system said wait time was less than a minute. The service rep didn't know whether I could use points so she called the Lincoln rep and found out that I couldn't use my points to pay because they do not participate in the program. Kind of screwed up that an authorized Lincoln service dealer is not a part of the Lincoln reward points program. I CANCELLED MY APPOINTMENT and went elsewhere. We went through the entire buying process. They needed our last signatures. At that point in time, they handed us the final numbers and we saw a random $2,500 charge. We asked what it was and it was for some type of paint and upholstery warranty. I asked for it to be removed because we did not want it. They would not remove it and said it comes with all their cars, even though we were buying used. Please know this is actually an optional thing for used cars and costs the dealership about $250. They make $2,250 by forcing a bogus 5 year paint and upholstery warranty. We walked away from the vehicle and will never be back to that dealership and will recommend others not to go either. read more

1st time using the service department here. Apparently I was billed "double labor" charge. It is a common practice at dealerships. The tech only took 50 minutes but I was billed for two hours as that was the book labor time for my appointment. So if that's their way of doing business I'll be going back to Napletons VW of Urbana for repairs I can't do myself! Also their lot was so crowded I could barely navigate around the building. After a terrible first experience here where it was obvious the car wasn't test driven or checked over, the dealership took the car back and nearly 3 months later it seems repaired. They were gracious on the price and kept in touch even though for 2 of the 3 months it wasn't even touched. Still wouldn't recommend getting a repair done here. read more

Don't shop at Bloomington Auto Mall!!!! Run!!!! We have had my son's car 11 days, we called them on the 8th day to discuss some issues and to get them fixed. We have been calling and calling and nobody will talk to us about the issue. I have talked to Nic who was going to get someone else to call me, I have talked to Horeb who was going to get someone to call me, I have called for Steve who was the sales person for us and he isn't calling! This is the worst business! Never thought I would do a post like this but I think it's significant enough for people to know. If you thought about purchasing a vehicle new or used from the Bloomington Normal Automall (aka Leader Automotive) think again. I have sent several people here due to previous experiences (all with certain sales individuals I had good relationships with), however two friends recently have come back to me telling me about what poor service and shady business practices they're doing. Current example was someone coming to purchase a used Subaru Forrester that was advertised on their webpage (as well as 3rd party affiliates like Car Guru) as a certified vehicle with a specific price. When my friend came to do the purchase as he was all in to do it at that moment, he was then hit with an additional $6000+. What is this charge you may ask? Well that would be because to certify it was additional money, even though they advertised it at the price as certified, and some additional charges above the norm. In addition, they do a cheap version of a ceramic coating on all their vehicles now (and NOT done by anyone truly trained in professional detailing in the Bloomington Normal area such as Fisher Detailing). They don't tell you this nor do they ask you if you want it but will add it on and say the charge is mandatory. I didn't believe this and just went here to the dealership to talk to the general manager. The GM Lou (Luke?) told me that's exactly what they do and they can do what they want with their charges and was "sorry I felt that way" (of course in a condescending tone). I told him his business practices are questionable and shouldn't be advertising one thing then changing to another story when someone comes in to purchase and he continued to tell me he's sorry I felt that way and have a great day. Weak leadership and negatively stereotypical car salesmanship at its best. I will never, ever, come back here for any purchases and will never recommend them to anyone ever again. Bloomington Normal and outside area car enthusiasts should take note and be smart shoppers. This business having changed ownership several times over the last several years keeps getting worse and worse and they just don't get it. If you're someone looking for a new vehicle, especially one of their premium brands, look elsewhere within the hour or so radius as you're just wasting your time here. read more

They've got some kinks to work out. Friendly service advisor and the car was returned cleaned and with the tires blacked. However, they didn't have my part in stock for my appointment despite me making the appointment in advance. Nor, did they call/text to advise me the part was in stock resulting in a wasted visit. I then had to follow up to check on the part instead of them contacting me when it arrived. Lastly, I had to call to check when the car would be finished. Too much effort on my part. read more

Avoid at all costs. I went to test drive a car that I was interested in and Dan "helped" with that. We took it out on drive and about halfway through I expressed that I was not really loving it. After I explained why, he seemed to get personally offended and started trying to argue with me. When we got back, he was trying to still get me to buy the car and offered me "top dollar" on my trade in. I said again that I was not interested in buying the car. As I sit at a different dealership getting our MKC serviced, I decided to write this review. We bought our MKC brand new from Grossinger. Our salesman was clueless about the vehicle as it was his second day on the job. We purchased the vehicle to avoid paying an out-of-county tax. A month or so after, we had a flat tire (hole in tire) and we had a chip in our rim. We called Grossinger and they inspected the vehicle informed us that we would need to buy a whole new rim and tire for over $800.00. We took the car to Farm and Fleet and they showed us how the chip in the outer rim would not affect the new tire and replaced the tire for $125.00. We have not had any incidents with the rim or tire since. Very dishonest service and disorganized dealership. We take our Lincoln to Velde in Peoria, Il for all of our service needs. read more

We took one car in for services. The next day the battery died. The invoice stated the battery was fine. We were told new tires were needed all around. A local tire shop informed us that only one tire was needed. VW corporate was concerned about our experience. The representative from the dealership could care less. She offered no resolution or help. I'll be receiving my settlement from VW due to the TDI issues that are occurring. I bought my Subaru Outback new 2017 from Grossinger bloomington. The sale was perfect and the dealership service HAD BEEN superb. That is until today. My wagon needed warranty repairs, I called and scheduled a date with a loaner car a week in advance. I spoke to the service agent on three separate occasions to say that my dogs would be with me and asked specifically if that would be a problem, and each time was told it would not be a problem. The ADVERTISE THEMSELVES AS PET FRIENDLY. I showed up at my appointment time, was advised my dogs were NOT welcome, a loaner WOULD NOT be available, nor shuttle service because of my well behaved trained golden retrievers. I complained to the service manager, who acted put out at my request, and then she gave me the loaner car on an EXCEPTION BASIS, along with a$100.00 detail fee if the car was soiled I return. Example: Credit union or bank approves you at 4% but the dealer doesn't let you know. The dealer may increase the interest rate you will pay to the bank. When the dealer delivers the contract to the bank, the bank will pay the dealer an upfront premium for the "marked up" intertest rate. Example: The dealer writes up your contract at 7% interest instead of 4% and they may receive hundreds or thousands of dollars from the credit union or bank. To save money, get pre-approved at your credit union (CEFCU is the big dog in central Illinois) or bank before negotiating with the dealer but don't let the dealer know you are pre-approved. If the dealer "marked up" your interest rate, you should refinance the auto loan within 90 days of purchasing the vehicle so the dealer must refund the premium to the credit union or bank. read more

I recently decided to lease a car. I walked into the dealership with a friend and we both watched bemused as a couple salespeople looked at us and walked away. I get it, you see a younger person walk in and you assume they aren't there to buy a car. After a few minutes of waiting, Scotty finished up with the customer he was helping and saw us standing there and immediately came over and introduced himself. I told him what car I wanted and he immediately pulled up the cars they had that fit my qualifications. When the car I wanted was unavailable, they put me into a rental at no cost as Scotty found my perfect car. What really amazed me about his service was how he went above and beyond. I indicated I wanted to be contacted via text and every couple of days I would receive a friendly text informing me about the status of my car. Even though there was only one car in the area that fit my qualifications and specifications, Scotty got it for me a week ahead of time. When I went to pick up my car, it had been beautifully detailed (despite the brewing snowstorm outside that threatened all their hard work). I also worked with Jami who was absolutely amazing and made me feel comfortable and explained every piece of paper I signed to me. It was a great experience. Since then, I have come a couple times to get my car washed and my last experience was above and beyond and worth mentioning. I pulled in and Steve let me know there was a bit of a wait. He handled it by giving me his number and telling me to call back in an hour. It was wonderful! I ran some errands, called him and got my car in with no wait! Scotty came out and looked it over to make sure it was perfect and then Steve and one of the guy from parts gave me a couple hints on how to keep my car looking this good all the time. Amazing how just a little extra time makes all the difference. In addition to the little add-ons such as free car washes for life, Grossinger via their employees like Scotty, Steve and Jami, went above and beyond for me and I couldn't be more pleased with my experience.
