I feel like most places would at least take responsibility and try to address the issue, rather than respond so curtly. Her tone came across as rude and was really off-putting. My memory of the baked goods has long since faded, but boy, do I still remember that surly teenager and her eye roll. While we were waiting, a "Karen" unexpectedly turned around and confronted us about a lit cigarette. We looked around and did not see any posted "No Smoking" signs in the immediate area, so we had no reason to believe we were violating any rules. In many places we've traveled throughout the country, smoking on a public sidewalk is allowed unless it's specifically prohibited. What made the interaction especially disappointing was learning that the woman confronting us was the Manager. Instead of approaching us politely or simply informing us of any local policy, she immediately came across as aggressive and confrontational. We tried to end the conversation several times by asking her to leave us alone, but she continued pursuing the issue and would not let it go. We decided it wasn't worth the drama and walked back to where we had parked. Once at our car, she continued to approach us, making comments on the way to her car, which unfortunately was by ours. Rather than calmly explaining the situation, she seemed more interested in arguing and making sure her opinion was heard. As visitors from out of state experiencing Sunriver for the first time, this was not the welcoming atmosphere we expected. One negative interaction can leave a lasting impression, and, unfortunately, this experience overshadowed what should have been an enjoyable visit. We understand that businesses have policies and that managers have a responsibility to enforce them, but there is a respectful and professional way to communicate with customers and visitors. In our opinion, this situation was handled very poorly. We sincerely hope no one else has a similar experience. A little courtesy and professionalism would have gone a long way.

Last week I was asked to show ID for the first time in 17 years to buy a six pack of beer. I am 75 years old and obviously of age, so I find this process very annoying and lawfully unnecessary. look it up. I was told by the checker and other long term staff that they have always required ID and if I didn't like it I could shop elsewhere. Again, I have never been required to provide ID before. The staff were very rude and I was shocked that they would treat a long term customer as they did. I am very disappointed and will be shopping elsewhere unless absolutely desperate.

I've been on a matcha kick lately so I ordered a matcha latte rather than coffee. I didn't have to wait long before my iced almond milk matcha was ready. I definitely enjoyed it, although I will say that it's not the best matcha I've ever had. It was good though, don't get me wrong. Coffee does seem to be their specialty but I'm glad they have other options for people like me. I took my matcha to go and sipped it as I walked around the rest of the Sunriver shopping center.
