I went in for a very very simple haircut but had my hair completely butchered. When I called requesting that a master stylist fix my hair the day after, they said they did not have availability and would call back to see if they had someone who could help. Nobody called and my hair looked insane. I was absolutely appalled and had to go to a different salon to have it recut. I called and demanded a refund for the cut which they informed me they were processing. They gave me no trouble about the refund but I will need to see if I ever get my money back. Definitely a huge fan of Blo both pre- and post-COVID. It's a massive salon, so there's plenty of room for them to spread out. They've always been very hospitable offering wine (or water if that's your style) when your arrive (although this is suspended currently for Phase 2), and they offer a good variety of products to purchase. They locked me in as a customer when they prioritized existing appointments that were missed due to quarantine. Just 2 days after the announcement they had called to rebook me and 3 days later I had a (safe) fresh cut! I will keep coming back time and again. read more

I tried this salon and will tell you they do not do well with Platinum color. Initially it seemed good, but my hair began breaking off. I know the stylist could see this, but she continued to color my hair. When my hair broke off so badly, 1/2 inch pieces sticking out everywhere, I said no more. I went to another salon and was told the stylist at Bio was overlapping the bleach touch up and it was not good thus causing the breakage. They use too much bleach to get it done quickly. Disgusting! Now I am dealing with my hair growing out as i had to have 5 inches removed from damage!!!!!!!! So let the stylist who did this to my hair flit around the salon with her long curly brown locks. Moved here and heard it was a nice salon. I requested someone with a lot of experience because I have long thick hair. Showed up and got a complete rookie, or at least she acted like one. Asked for chestnut brown and got dark, dark red. I am naturally a blonde so had asked for eyebrows to be done. She forgot so I left with blonde eyebrows and dark red hair. I looked like a vampire. It was awful. Had to pay a fortune to fix to color job. I've lived in Brier Creek for something like 4 years and never found a local hair place. I wanted to get some curls put in my hair for my engagement photos fairly last minute, so I was thrilled I could get an appointment with Cassie, a Blossom Designer. Blo has different levels for their stylists based on time at Blo. Cassie did a nice job and one of the other stylists checked in since she is still a Blossom. Overall I left really happy, but I had wished she'd put more hairspray in because the curls started falling out in the car and definitely didn't make it in the 90 degree August humidity. But, for $25 and less stress, I'm happy I went and I'd do it again but know I need more hold or a different style. I'm hoping to check back in for a highlight touch up for winter and maybe another blow out for a Christmas party when it won't be so hot and humid. read more

I brought my boyfriend to Blo for a more modern hair cut and Kym did a fantastic job. We showed her a photo that we liked and she adapted it for my boyfriend's hair type and facial shape. Not only does he look younger, but his new hair cut frames his face better and we were able to get a styling product (not too "girly") that makes his hard-to-manage mane more manageable without being sticky or rigid. About a week ago I received a haircut that just didn't turn out well at all and I left a review here on Yelp. Within hours Lindzy (listed as Director of Operations on the website) called me and offered to fix the cut. I was hesitant but I couldn't leave it like it was so she got me in the next day. She managed to turn it around. She listened to what happened and what I needed and we both agreed on a good solution for my hair type to achieve my intended end result. Sadly I had to cut off a little more hair BUT it looks more to my liking now and this can be styled. Although I am a little disappointed about the initial mishap (hence the 4 stars) the genuine concern for making it right made me very happy and deserved an update and this visit was a good experience. read more

I waited a long time to post this because I was trying to let my hair grow out a bit before I decided how I really felt about it.... The first time I came here, I had the best experience I've ever had at a salon. My color was beautiful and my cut was exactly what I was looking for. I have very long, very thick hair, and my stylist made sure she had enough time to really work on my hair and it didn't feel rushed at all. It was fantastic and I recommended blo to all of my friends and family. The second time I came, I was really excited to go back and have that same feeling I had the first time, but the receptionist told me the woman who cut my hair had moved and was no longer working at blo. Even though I wouldn't get the exact stylist I wanted, I really wanted to come back because I figured I would still have a wonderful time. The woman who cut my hair was super nice and gave me a really good shampoo, however, I was slightly disappointed because she cut my hair shorter than I wanted, even though I explicitly told her exactly how much to cut off. The last time was nothing short of exactly the disappointment I've felt at all the salons I've been to. When I called, I asked for an experienced stylist and the girl on the phone assured me that my stylist was very talented and I was so excited! When I got to the salon, I waited 20 minutes past my appointment time but I didn't mind because I felt the place was worth my time. My stylist was trying out a new hairdryer and took 3/4 of my appointment time to dry my hair. After my hair was finally dry, she spent the remaining time chopping away at my bangs and didn't give me the "V-cut" I asked for. She left my hair pretty much all one length and very boring, the opposite of what I asked for. Everything felt so rushed, and she told me she didn't have time to trim my undercut, which was one of the main things I asked for, even though she showed me tons of pictures of undercut designs she's done in the past. My sister discovered Blo a few years ago when looking for a place with good reviews for pixie cuts. She raved about her stylist Bonnie, so I decided to check things out. I had been growing my hair to donate and was ready for a new style and a color refresh. I'm so glad I went to see Bonnie. She has a great eye for color and cuts, but she also is very realistic and willing to warn me if the cut I'm thinking about would require more work than I'm willing to put in any morning. I completely trust her when it comes to my cuts and color. For clients getting coloring done, there is an array of reading materials, they make up a little personal snack plate, and there's an array of drink options (wine, beer, soda, water). The atmosphere at the salon is great: professional, friendly, and incredibly relaxing. I love the way more experienced stylists help train and consult with newer level stylists, and everyone there is always getting more training to improve their craft. As with most salons, the cost of services varies depending on the experience level of your stylist. Finally, I appreciate that the salon just thinks of surprising ways to be thoughtful. For example, right now we're many weeks into the coronavirus pandemic and everyone's true colors are starting to show. They reached out to color clients and invited people to pick up a free root touch up kit curbside. They had the curbside pick up area decorated and everyone was so happy whenever a guest came by. And they invited clients to "pay the kindness forward" and make a donation to a nonprofit that supports feeding hungry kids. When I got home, I promptly touched up my roots and was amazed at how nice that little bit of pampering felt during such a chaotic and unprecedented time. GO SEE HANNAH!!!!!! I have worked in the hair industry previously, and to put it simply I am an anxious and picky person. After trying several salons in the area previously I had resorted to just doing my own, until health constraints made this unmanageable. I spent months tracking reviews, talking myself out of trying someone new. Frances and other members of Blo's customer service team dealt with my calls and e-mails for a couple weeks, giving recommendations for stylist based on my needs. After lacking any negative interaction with them, I could not see a reasonable excuse to continue to just let my hair grow anymore and scheduled a consultation with Hannah (One of the two stylists recommended). I was 5 minutes late. When I explained how nervous I was and offered to reschedule, they not only made it not big deal, but were KIND to me. Hannah spoke with me and I scheduled a haircut for as soon as she had one. The Blo staff then put me on a cancellation list for an earlier appointment, allowing me to eventually get in over a week earlier than I expected. The service: Hannah made sure we had extra time, given that I was going to loose a fair bit of length. I waited maybe a couple extra minutes past five (my appointment) during which time she checked in with me politely and made sure someone got me water. We talked the entire time, she was really engaging and seemed to care about my interests. I kind you not she let me see with some length removed and re cut my hair when I asked for it to be shorter. She was honest the entire way and kept me informed. Let me say that again. She gave me two haircuts so I didn't leave not loving it. The shampoo was AMAZING, and helped my sinus headache a ton. Hannah is kind, compassionate, down to earth, knowledgeable, and wants you to be happy. I have been really sick for weeks and am being 100% honest when I say I felt pretty today for the first time in weeks. I left with products I love, the first cut I have loved in 4 years, and a smile. I've been getting my hair cut at Blo for about 2 years now and have never had a bad experience. The front desk staff are always friendly & will offer to get you a drink or hold your coat during your service. Their online reservation system is excellent because my schedule is unorthodox & I love the ability to make an appointment at 11:30pm from the comfort of my bed. The massage chairs & foot rests at the hair-washing station are a nice touch, though they weren't working properly during my last visit. They are planning an expansion soon & with that, extended services (makeup application and waxing, I believe). Some things to note: They have a tiered system of stylists & therefore prices. If you're one to stay loyal to a stylist (like me), you will find your prices rising as they grow their skills & business. Also, they'll accept credit cards for services but tips are cash-only. Very important if you don't want to run off to the ATM mortified, as I did on my first visit (oops). As the previous reviewer mentioned, some of the stylists don't seem to smile much but they sure have great hair. I can wholeheartedly recommend Brittany, she is fabulous both in ability & demeanor. For years I've struggled to find anyone in the area who could cut my curly, sometimes wavy, sometimes disastrous hair with little luck. I don't blame the other stylists as curly hair is just a pain to deal with. However, that all changed for me when I found Blo. I talked to the receptionist about my needs and they gave me a few recommendations. I can't speak highly enough about Jennifer. I've primarily seen her the entire time (if she's out, she did recommend me to Alysha who is also very good) and enjoy how she will accommodate whatever needs I have and styles I wish to try. The salon itself is well kept, clean, professional, with a modern vibe. Everyone has a smile on their face and genuinely seems to enjoy working there. The service is fantastic here! It's a very trendy and yet established place to go and treat yourself. There are different levels and teams that are separated by the color shirt they wear. Like the receptionists wore blue, girls in a training program work green, another level wore black etc. Zena was my stylist. She was very nice and did a fantastic job. I had balayage and a trim. I have been to blo twice now and am very happy with the cut and color I receive from Theresa, she is awesome! She worked with me at my first appointment to get my cut and color back to "normal" (after a few botched cuts and color courtesy of Caju in Chapel Hill). Yesterday I received the best cut and color in a long time. I'm definitely a fan of Theresa's. Blo as a salon is fine. Great front desk help (brunette) and I like that they are open in the evening. Not a fan of the location as Brier Creek can get crazy but Theresa is worth it. This salon is located in a busy shopping center where parking can often be a challenge. Walking into the salon its very modern and clean. The hostess will greet you and on your first visit require that you sign a form to agree by their guidelines. This was the first time I've ever had to sing anything at a salon, it felt odd, but I did my first time several months ago. I can't remember the wording exactly but it does mention if you cancel within "x" amount of hours prior or you are more than "x" minutes late you will be charged..... ironically the first time I went last year, I waited over 20 minutes before I was taken back. I actually came to this salon because a friend had recommended Adrienne. I have been to Adrienne several times, she is great, very personable and professional. She will not only listen to you wants/needs/concerns about your hair but also make suggestions on color/trends/styles etc. The reason I give it 2 stars is because I'm not impressed with the operations of the salon. I haven't experienced having to wait up to 4 + weeks of a hair cut at any other salon. One time I asked to be put on the waiting list and specified that I would be available for cancelations but not one particular weekend because I was traveling out of town, then I was called about three appointments during that time frame. The salon does not allow you to leave a tip on the card, but nowhere on the website does it say that information. Be sure to bring cash for tips, otherwise the stylist will probably think you hated your service. When I moved back to Raleigh almost 2 years ago I desperately needed to find a salon to handle my unruly locks. Blo was the first salon to accommodate my needs and I've been going back ever since! Blo is a hip salon in Brier Creek with a professional staff and fun atmosphere. The salon is spacious and the entire staff from the front desk to the stylists are always very accommodating. When you first arrive they check you in and offer you a drink; soda, water, tea, wine- when I've had early appointments on the weekend they even had mimosas set out! I love that the stylists can wear what they want- everyone always looks super cute and trendy and you can really get a feel for their personalities. It may sound silly, but it's reassuring when you dig your hair dresser's personal style. My girl Alysha is a color queen! I'm always open to her suggestions and ideas and she has a good understanding of what looks I'm in to. I have long, thick hair so working on my head is pretty time consuming. Alysha always does a phenomenal job. I wish I had the patience to blow-out my hair the way she does because it looks damn good when she's done with me! Another thing to note is that if you're not happy with the way your color/cut turned out, they will go above & beyond to fix it to your liking. We tried out Blo based on Yelp reviews and from a friend's reference. We were met by friendly staff, who promptly offered us a complimentary beverage and coordinated my walk-in appointment. I was assigned to Evan and I recommend him very highly. The staff felt he was the best to clean up my split ends and lopsided layers, and they were spot on! He listened while I told him my thoughts and then provided his opinion on how best to handle the layers (while I am sipping my wine still, mind you). The shampoo chairs had massage rollers in them, so while you get a Redkin shampoo and condition, you also relax completely! Though he wasn't pushy about it, when asked, Evan answered my every question about the products he used and how to do both day and night styles with shine or spray in hand. During this time my husband was also offered a drink (they only serve Yuengling beer, but he was happy all the same!) and last minute decided to get his hair cut too. Ashley did a wonderful fade for him and he was pleased with her thoughts on how to "dress it up." Summary: cuts were $33.00 per person, but we were both thrilled with the styles we got, the complimentary drinks, but most especially the quality of the service that Evan and Ashley ensured. The owner does a great job with continuing education for his staff, and turnover has decreased tremendously over the last two years. Others I know get their color done there, and it looks wonderful. My very first visit was a few months ago just to give Blo a try, so I went in for a trim and got it done by Kimberley. She did wonderful! The service and staff just made a great impression so I knew I had to come back for my next cut. Attention to detail is obvious everywhere, even the basin chairs has gentle massage rollers. They even use real arty glasses when they bring you some water (you have a wide choice of beverages). First time visitor to this salon after two years of growing my hair out from a super short bob. I called and was able to get an appointment the next day with no issues. The nice lady on the phone took the time to explain all of the different levels of stylists and recommended which stylist based on what I was looking to get done. There are essentially levels from beginner (blossom flower) up to a skilled level five. Prices follow the skill level. For blossom flower level a cut would be around 30-40 and go up from there. My stylist started at 60 I believe. I arrived about 10 minutes before my appointment time and filled out the new client information. NOTE: Same day cancellations are $20 so be sure you call a day ahead or make the appointment if you want to avoid a fee. The music is a little loud near the front desk/waiting area but gets better once you are back in the salon chair area. The inside has an industrial look and feel that is kind of neat and suits the vibe of this salon overall. Still a very comfortable atmosphere. My stylist was a little behind so I was seen about 10 minutes after my appointment time. Not a big deal as you can have someone that needs more time and I appreciate that she explained what happened. I showed her pictures of what I was looking to get done and it was a big transformation. I had long hair and basically wanted to go back to a bob with texture and stacks; so it can take some time. She was very easy to talk to and listened to what I wanted. She even helped me with taking before and after pictures, some of which with her phone because mine was having a malfunction of some sort! The end results were awesome. I love how much lighter my hair feels and that it has style even when air dried. I have so much more volume and personality to my hair versus my old boring long hair that I never had time to do anything with [I have multiple little ones :)] My husband loves it as well! I plan to come back and have Alysha as my regular hair stylist. She is very skilled and personable as well as helpful! All around awesome experience. I'm new to Raleigh. I called Blo, got an appointment quickly and was happy with my haircut. A month later I called to book a trim and a root touchup. I was told I absolutely would not be given an appointment unless I emailed a picture of my hair today and a picture of how I wanted my hair to look. This was news to me. I didn't have to send pictures for my first appointment. The Blo website even says walk-in clients are welcome. I reiterated that I wanted my same hairstyle, only trimmed a little, and my roots touched up.
