An absolutely wonderful salon experience. Thoi is an extremely kind and knowledgeable professional. She not only did a great job on my cut and color but she taught me several new, very simple techniques to take better care oif my hair. AND she gifted me some shampoo! I take care of my 94-year old Mom and we talked about her as I was getting my haircut. Thoi encouraged me to spend as much time as possible with my Mom and take pictures and truly touched my heart. read more

Great experience with Thoi! She listened to what I wanted for my cut and gave me a beautiful color to cover my grays. It's a very welcoming salon and reasonably priced. read more

Best hole in the wall neighborhood shop. You will immediately feel welcomed. If you are expecting some red door type salon this ain't it. I love the no frills vibe and everyone is amazing here. read more

I moved to NC 4 years ago and have tried so many salons (about 6 or 7). None of them were good. But Hair Etc did a fantastic job on my haircut and blowout. And it was effortless for them! I have finally found "the one"! They are also so friendly! read more

My crazy hairstyle has 6 colors and Thoi is the only person to ever get it right!! Services are reasonable and personable. The shop is busy and jovial. I've been coming here for about 7 years now. read more

Great haircut and friendly service, clean salon. Great service great cut. Tucked away in a strip mall

I have been going to Hair Etc. for almost 16 years. They are so friendly and do a great job. Color treatment is so reasonable compared to other salons. Twa and Lan are amazing ladies. Thank you for years of wonderful service! read more

I have been going to this salon for at least 2 years and I have never been more pleased. It is true that this is a no frills kind of salon, but the main reason one goes to a salon is for the expertise of the person cutting and/or coloring one's hair. In this regard, Thoa is an expert and can style hair like no one else can! I have medium to long hair and prior to coming to this salon, I have had a hard time finding someone who can layer my hair to frame my face well. Thoa is the only one who could do it and give it the framing and body that I had been looking for. I also trust her with coloring and highlighting my hair, and I've always left the salon really pleased with my cut/color. On top of that, the price is incredibly reasonable especially considering how well Thoa does her job. Trust me, for over a decade, I have paid nearly or even over $200 for cut/color at other fancier salons, but the way they cut my hair has never compared to Thoa's expertise and Thoa's rates are at least half of that. Thoa is a very sweet person and if you try to get to know her, you'll see she has a heart of gold. She has a great story about her life, and as another reviewer said, she really does give back to her community and really cares about her client. I've recommended this place to my 22-year old son who is so picky about his haircut, and he has been a loyal client of Thoa for a year now. read more

Great color and cut every time. Very friendly staff and the most reasonable prices around!

Okay seriously Yelp needs to come up with negative reviews for places like these. This is the most horrible (this is the nicest word I could use) place I have been to. There is no professionalism here, they hardly know what they are doing. They messed up my hair so bad that every morning that I comb now I shed like a dog. The color I wanted she didn't do. Instead of telling me she couldn't do that color, she decided to make a decision on her own to give me the color she thinks I should have. This was my first time here and she did not know me well enough to make that decision for me. I hate the fact that they are talking in their language clearly knowing they are talking about my hair. She kept on doing something to it to get the color that it completely damaged my hair. THEY DO NOT LISTEN TO WHAT YOU WANT, THEY WILL ONLY DO WHAT THEY WANT! Please please please stay away from this place and someone please shut this place down. The person who did my hair was Lan, I have never had anybody hurt me while doing my hair. The pulling and tugging on the hair was just too much. I kept on telling her to please be careful it is hurting me. She in the middle went and colored someone else's hair while I waited for her to dry mine. She also did someone's eyebrows while she was doing my hair. If I am paying for something I would not like to wait around when you take care of other people. I left in the middle of it as I couldn't stand to get more hurt and be humiliated by them. PLEASE STAY AWAY!!! CLOSE THIS PLACE I would prolly start a petition on it if I could. HORRIBLE! read more

I don't know why this place gets bad reviews! My whole family has been getting there hair cut here and we all love it! It IS a no frills place but the stylists are all very sweet and nice. They listen to what you want and I even showed them a picture and my hair is now exactly what I wanted! Another thing I liked was that I didn't even have to set up an appointment to have my hair cut right away! Granted I did go at 2:00pm on a Monday. The stylist also didn't use any product (except a little bit of hairspray) on my hair like other salons do, which I appreciated because I typically don't like the gel/creams they put in my hair if I go to another salon. Overall, I am completely satisfied with my haircut and it only costed $20 for my very long hair to be cut and layered. And because it's so inexpensive, my family and I always tip well. They deserve it! read more

No frills type hair cutting place which I went to because I had a Groupon. Cut & color regularly for $60 which is pretty reasonable. Twa the owner is a very nice woman and gave me a great haircut and coloring. I probably will not return because it is over 30 minutes from my house and I like a place that is more pampering. I don't mean to sound high maintenance, but I am. read more

WORST PLACE. The hairdressers kept on saying horrible and rude things about my hair. How thin it is because of stress, how I need to take more vitamins and not put my hair up in ponytails. I told them that I don't do that and they didn't listen. I gave them the max benefit of the doubt since I understand their cultural norms of how they say anything without any filter. I went to you to make me feel better about my self not to have me embarrassed and insecure with everyone in the salon listening. Horrible place, they know my family too. They lost a customer. read more

I have to say in going to really miss my favorite salon! I had to move now finding someone to do my hair for a reasonable price seems impossible. Anytime I'm back in NC I'll be sure to get my fix! read more

Good place. Its not spa like salon, but you can't beat the price. Twa cuts and colors my hair and it always turns out well. You can get all your hair needs at a much lower price amd they use good quality products. Its definitely not a horrible place, like others commented here. Like in all businesses , things happen... read more

I have been going to this salon for years and NEVER been disappointed! Now all my friends and neighbors are clients, and even my teenage son loves going there...and that's an almost impossible thing to achieve with teenagers. These ladies give back to their communities all the time by giving free services to those who cannot afford it. We need more businesses like that AND we all need to support businesses that give back to the community they serve. Highly recommended and will always be a client here! read more

Very displeased with my experience altogether. The stylist completely ignored all of my requests and seemed to know how I wanted my hair done more than myself (quite complexing indeed). She cut much shorter than I asked and was annoyed when I asked her to not go any shorter. Salon was very dirty. Hair is very choppy and uneven, and while this place was very cheap, I have now wasted my time and energy as I will need to get it FIXED elsewhere. Would not recommend. read more

I have been going to Hair etc. for over eight years! Lan & Twao and all of the staff treat me like a queen. They do my hair better than anyone I have ever gone to! I drive all the way from Wake Forest just for their great service!!! read more

I've been coming to Hair etc for the past 12 years now and I don't have one complaint. They treat you like family, my hair has always looked amazing. Prices are so reasonable for all I get done and in a timely manner. Everyone is so so nice and they are great about appointments:) read more

Been going here 3 yrs now. They get 4 out of 5 stars, because on occasion either Twa or Lan is having an off day and my hair is "ok" rather than "oh my goodness, who is that in the mirror, she looks hot!" However, the MAJORITY of the time, my hair is done fantastic and everyone at work, church and on the street will stop me and comment how nice it looks. This is not a high maintenance salon with glitzy couches, aromatherapy, hot tea/coffee, place. If you want that go somewhere else and pay triple! The prices are great: $60 for a cut, color and style and $75 for highlights if you want to add on. The prices for their hair products are reasonable too. I see a lot of men come in, as well as kids, and ladies of high end nature (designer purses/clothes) to the moderates. read more

Def a no frills place. We having been coming to this place for three years. Low cost and friendly staff. Thailand has always maintained my cuts done by the more expensive salons. Great for kids, hubby and maintenance. Not the place to go for latest styles and glamorous cut/updo. Super sweet and friendly staff. read more

Twa has been cutting my hair for three years and I've been happy each time. This place is about 30 minutes away but well worth the drive.

Very basic. Haircut was fast, the lady cutting my hair was nice enough, but I would have expected cheaper rate than 15 usd for very basic man's haircut that takes 10 minutes. I would mainly come back because of the location. read more

Great service, been there three times and never had an issue. Staff is friendly and kind.

I just got my first cut from Twa, and I love it! I've been paying $65-$80 for haircuts forever, (Aveda salons and Salon Blu) and she did as good, if not better, for $20. I will definitely be back! read more

I wish I could give 0 here. The hair dresses constantly made me feel that I have bad hair because I have good volume and he had to put more efforts.he was not ready to cut to my desired length and kept saying that it would look bad on me even when I showed him pic that I have kept in past and I love it. read more

I have been going to Lan for YEARS. She has always known just how to cut and shape my hair so it looks great with minimal effort every day. She's been doing my highlights for the last 2.5 years and has ALWAYS been spot on with mixing and applying. I receive compliments nearly every day on my style as well as the color. She has also been cutting my son's hair for about 3 years now (he's 5). She is so wonderful with him that he looks forward to his haircuts! I cannot give Lan high enough praise!! read more

I got a haircut from this place a few weeks ago and the guy who cut my hair did everything I told him not to do. I told him not to thin my hair and he thinned more than half my hair off. I also told him long layers and he made the layers short. I told him to TRIM it and at the end my hair was half the length it was before and he said he did not cut any off at all. Over all I was on the verge of tears and I was very disappointed. This is overall the worst hair experience I've ever had. :( read more

Wish there was an option to NOT rate them with any star, however the one star is for the star working in that salon "DEBBIE" I love her she does her job with sincerity & she shouldn't be working under those Vietnamese sisters !!! The Owner IS SIMPY AWFUL to say the least I am not sure of her name I guess its either Twa OR Lan they are sisters & they rush you in to the whole thing they don't wash your hair well , I was asked to come for a touch up ,since i had already been there for highlighting, that after my highlights faded within 1/12 week....I paid $ 15 in tip the first time, which was so not needed ,just the White lady named Debbie deserved all of the tip because she did a wonderful job ,even if it was just washing my hair. Anyway ,the owner told me I could walk in @ any time within a month of doing it , but I still thought it would be considerate enough from my side to go on a week day , & I was right, they were free ,I went on a Wednesday afternoon! just with one client who was almost done with her coloring . she rushed me in to the whole thing I walked out with dye all over my forehead with wet hair water colored water dripping over my jacket & she tells me "now you can go and blow dry you hair, there it is" pointing at the hair dryer on the table!!!!!! This with, Shampoo still on my hair & all over my forehead. I told her I was free & didn't mind waiting she tells me she did not have time!!!!!!! I actually got some pics of it !!!!! RIDICULOUS & SO UNETHICAL!!!!!!! I never really write reviews nor do i check for reviews just perhaps ask friends & family , thinking one must experience it for themselves to know if its bad , but today I actually signed up @ yelp & wasted 15 minutes of my precious time writing about this HORRENDOUS place & a DUBIOUS woman!!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

I recently opened a store in the same plaza and people have been telling me to go there to get my hair done. I figured dozens of people can't be wrong, so I made an appointment for a color, highlight, and layering. My appointment was with Jenny, but Twa (I may not be spelling it right!), stepped right in to help with the coloring of my very thick and long hair. My color and highlighting came out perfect, and they razor layered my hair giving it so much more bounce, and movement. I am very pleased and the price was reasonable. I will definately make this a regular new stop for me. Thank you ladies! read more

I was in the area for a longer than expected business and I needed a haircut. The hairstylist was very friendly, cut my hair the exact way I wanted, did a great job, and only charged $15 (which is standard at most places). I wish I had a place like Hair, Etc. in my neighborhood at home. read more

I can't even explain how disappointed and frustrated I am with the lady who did my hair. Well I HAD long beautiful hair. I went in for a quick hair cut to trim the tips and add some layers.I usually cut my hair every 6 months so it was all the way down my back. This is not an expensive salon so I wasn't expecting anything great I guess but my haircut is terrible. I specifically told the lady I just want a trim and to keep the length. As I am watching my hair fall and fall and fall on the floor. I ask her if she is keeping the length. She assures me she is keeping the length just adding some layers in .After she blow dried it, I was a little convinced that it's not that bad but when I got home and tried to braid my hair, I saw how much she really took off. I could barley make a bread. She did not listen to my request at all. I guess I got what I paid for.I wouldn't recommend this salon to anyone or at least this woman. However I do want to say the owner (I forget her name) is the only one who has ever done a good job cutting my hair. I've been here before and she listens and does a good job. Overall I wont be coming back here. read more

I was recommended to Twa at Hair Etc. by a co-worker that has always had the best hair cut and color at work. After being very unhappy with my hair style and brassy highlights as well as the high prices I have been paying other hair `stylist in the area, I decided to make an appointment with Twa. It was absolutely the best decision ever! Twa was very nice and took her time to listen to what I wanted. She did a fantastic job with my color, highlights, and stylish cut! Not to mention it was ALOT less expensive than what I had been paying a "Master Stylist" at a well-known hair salon in North Hills. With that said, I highly recommend Twa at Hair Etc. to anyone that wants a good, quality hair cut, color, etc. at a very affordable price. read more

I was referred to Hair Etc. by a neighbor two years ago and have been going ever since and have referred others. I have slightly long highlighted blonde hair. I gave my formula to them once I booked my first appointment and became a regular client. They have always respected that I like my hair long and layered and they have kept it stylish. They recommend products and services based on hair texture, in my case, Keratin treatment. My hair has never looked better. I booked an updo and my hair looked fantastic. To save time (and a few dollars), I can wash my own hair and come in with it wet so they can cut and blow it out. Sure, they accept walk ins but that may mean you have to wait and they do try to accommodate walk ins but on weekends they are usually very busy. I've always found the salon to be clean and well managed. My suggestion is to book an appointment and have in mind or available your color formula or a photo of a cut. The staff is very attentive and accommodating to your hair preferences. read more
