I've been a client of Sandy (partial owner of this salon) for a few years. She's always given me a good haircut and highlights. I planned on being her client indefinitely. However, I recently had a very upsetting experience at this salon. On January 13, I had an accident that resulted in a cut to my face and a very black eye. I had an appointment scheduled with Sandy two days later, however, since my injured eye was swollen shut, I had to cancel and reschedule. I was rescheduled a week later with Betty. During that week, the cut on my face and the black were healing well, and I have photos to prove this. During my appointment with Betty, my face and eye were re-injured, at least twice--once when she was too vigorously hand-drying my hair after a a shampoo (I said "ouch!" and she responded by asking if I I was still still sore, and I told her that I definitely was, and pointed out my obviously black eye and the healing cut near my eyebrow.). The second time, I believe, was with a blow dryer. I again said "ouch" and asked her to be more careful. The next day, I woke up to a huge swollen area around my eye. I was very surprised, as my injury had been healing very well. The next day, the swelling was even worse, and my face was oozing blood from the cut that had before formed a scab and was healing well. I had to cancel all my clients that day (and I am a self-employed psychotherapist, so this was a loss of income as well as a risk to my clients), and called my doctor. He was able to work me in, took one look at my face, saw the photos of my previously healing injury, and explained that the re-trauma at Salon Kroma had resulted in a large hematoma and blood clot. My doctor had to perform surgery on my face to to remove the blood clot and drain the hematoma. He told me that if I hadn't had this done that day, the cut would have burst open and I could have permanently lost my vision in that eye. He recommended that I take the rest of the week off to recover from the surgery. When I called the salon the next and talked to Sandy to explain what happened, she was only defensive and a argumentative. And I was not threatening a lawsuit, requesting a refund, or anything of the sort. She said she would call back in a few days, which she did. During that conversation, while she again did not take any responsibility for what happened to me, she told me, "if we can ever do your again, just let us know." I had already scheduled a follow-up appointment, and reassured her that I planned to keep it. When I called and left a message a few days before my scheduled appointment, requesting a call back to confirm it, I received no response. So I called again the next day, talked to Dara, she put me on hold for a while, and then Sandy took the call and informed me she would no longer do my hair. Apparently, they assumed I would just show up for an appointment that they had already cancelled without bothering to inform me. I find this extremely unprofessional, disappointing, and yes, I'm rather angry. The only reason I'm giving this salon three stars is because Sandy is a good hairdresser, but just a good hairdresser. There are lots of good hairdressers out there. I suggest finding another salon. read more
