My daughter and I were too weak after doing Thanksgiving dinner to even do our hair on Friday so we called BLO for an emergency wash and blow dry. It's time to update my review to talk about the safety measures that this salon is taking to keep you safe (and it's employees) during COVID-19. When you arrive you fill out paperwork with a few questions and they take your temperature. Do not forget your mask because they are required. The salon is split into two zones and the stylists have assigned teams that they work certain days with so if there is a COVID incident the chance of spread is minimal. They are still not serving drinks but blow drys are back! Alysha is the best stylist. I've been going to her for my cuts and colors since she was a blossom. You really can't go wrong with any of the stylists here though. They do a mentor program for new stylists, receive training to stay up-to-date with the latest techniques, they love where they work and are passionate about what they do. I highly recommend Blo. I also wanted to comment about what they did during the shutdown. They gave away free hair color to existing clients, there was a suggested donation of $20 (or more) and the proceeds went to No Kid Hungry NC. How amazing is that? I went to this salon about two years ago with Bonnie, and did enjoy the service, but felt the price was way too high. I wanted to come back so I called for an appointment, but was quoted extremely high prices for a simple balayage root touch up (only 1 inch of growth) and that for a Level 2 Designer? They wanted to charge me 250 for a partial highlight, even without a cut included bc I wasn't interested. With tip, that's a $300 touch up. I told them I didn't want to pay extra for a style either (I can curl my hair myself), and they said it was required unless I wanted to leave the salon with my hair sopping wet... I have to pay for you to blow dry my hair now? Very unprofessional to require and charge $60 for that. I called them out for having misleading information on their website, as it looked like the Level 5 Designer Full Highlight price was $200, but they stated they would add the $65 glaze/toner, and the $65 or so cut and style on top of that. How can you list a price for a full highlight, and not include everything that's required in the service? Customers assume you list the glaze and cut and style prices separately for people who come in only wanting that service, not because you have to add that on top of a service you want. That's misleading marketing, so that you can lure customers in and then pressure them with a "required" price. The service here is subpar, and seems like they just want money. I had also specified in my submission that I just needed my roots touched up, and when they called me they tried to give me a quote for a full highlight? Only after I questioned why I needed to do/be charged for a full highlight did they say something along the lines of "They might only need a partial highlight but we'll see when you get here." I don't need to be paying sky-high prices for a salon to not listen to what I want and later demand I need a more expensive treatment. read more

I went a while ago and I was in love with my hair the first time I went. This time.....not so much. After the first couple of days, I noticed that when i pull my hair up, there are these stripes in my hair. Theres not really a transition/blend, and I only see 2 colors which makes my hair look really tacky, sort of reminds me of early 2000s highlights. I don't know what happened this time around. Called to make an appointment today 12/2/2021 as a new guest even though I had gone there a year prior moved and then moved back to the area. This time was told I had to first go to the website and fill out a profile. Then take pictures of my roots and side profiles. Then find and submit a picture of my inspiration. I visited this salon today for a cut and color appointment. I left with disappointing results that I'm extremely dissatisfied with. I communicated these concerns while I was in the salon and we have booked a color adjustment appointment. They were very courteous and understanding, and took the time to explain what went wrong originally & help me understand how I can communicate more clearly what I want in the future. Blair is a master colorist to rival the best that I've been to in NYC and LA. I've been platinum for several years and tried to return to a natural blonde balayage look earlier this year, but the salon I went to just put dark brown in half my hair. It looked awful. I underwent a series of further procedures trying to salvage something before giving up and coming to Blair to take me back to blonde, ideally without irreparably destroying my hair. In two visit she took me from a crazy, muddy, red colored mess to a lovely golden blonde. She was super cognizant of how the treatments affected my hair and recommended a course of action that would preserve the hair as much as possible while getting me where I wanted. They told me ahead of time the expert stylists cost more, which was fine with me because I just wanted to chop it off! The long hair was driving me crazy. I was assigned to Alysha who was SO sweet and listened to what I wanted. She did such a great job and it's probably one of the best hair cuts I've ever had! I have very straight hair so whenever I've had it cut in the past, it looks super boxy and choppy and it takes months for it to grown in and look natural again but she blended the edges in and make it look so good! It was $75 (I tipped her on top of that) for a hair wash, cut and blow dry from the expert stylist. For what I've paid in the past, I consider this standard. I have really curly hair so going to the salon can be a traumatic experience if the hairdresser doesn't know what they're doing. However, my friend recommended this salon to me, so I finally mustered up my courage and went and I am SO GLAD I did. I made an appointment with Taylor for balayage and Amanda for a cut and I highly recommend both of them. My balayage looks like traditional balayage when my hair is straight but when it's curly it looks like the light just hits my ringlets in the most perfect way. I went into this consult and following appointment apprehensive as my impression was a large part of the salon's experience was with non-African-American hair. I was impressed when Kaela had asked if I had a reference photo for how my son wanted his hair colored, and as she started the process she shared with me that she had done research on the best way to apply color for a person with his hair texture.
