This hair salon charged me $350 for a "no-show" appointment that I canceled almost a month in advance. When I called to ask them about it, they refused to refund the money or provide the original service the $350 was charged for. Also the charge is listed as a recurring payment on my bank account so they have access to recharge my card repeatedly and feel they don't have to answer to it. The owner (Zachary H.) was absolutely horrible when asked about working with us to resolve the issue. There is nothing in their policy that states no-refunds or partial credits, in fact, it states they will do everything they can to ensure you leave happy! That's actually crazy. If they wanted to ensure their customers were happy they could simply provide the service that was already canceled a month ago, paid for anyway (against my will), and still refused by the salon. They could have made it right in any way but they simply refused. These people don't care about their customers. Beware!! Go somewhere else and guard your card information!!!!! EDIT: Hi zachary. Just wanted to let you know, your reply on my review very much shows just how much of the run around you gave me. No business in their right minds puts pocketing $350 over the satisfaction of their customers. Tell me why Roots Salon and Wellness in Cary NC chooses to do so? Is arguing with your customers the best way to handle customer service? I was just wondering. Also, you haven't shown ME proof of anything. I want to see proof that I didn't call and cancel the appoitment, because it is simple to pull call logs from my end. Is it from yours? also, I was not provided a copy of this signed document. I would like one. I would like to know the best way to pick that up since we aren't exactly "welcome" at your salon. Next, there is no clause that I am aware of (I don't have a copy because I wasn't provided one) that states if partial credits, deposits towards future appointments or no refunds will be made. Understand that in small claims court, that will be pointed out. You denied me the service after the fact. Not just a refund, but the service itself. Dont forget that point. Another Edit: "We are very understanding and lenient because we know that life happens and things come up" seems very untrue considering the great lengths you're willing to go to to keep my money now. Just saying.... One more edit ... I wanted to point out that the Brazilian blow out was a service sold to me while sitting in your salon chair. It was an UPSELL that was pitched to me while I had a stylist doing my hair. It wasn't something I asked for, it was recommended and promoted by your team as I was getting my original service done. the price of the service was never told to me. I did not sign a separate document regarding the blowout. Only the original document for the highlights. No price was ever shown to me but the website specifically lists "$250-$350" as the price RANGE for the service provided. When I called and asked the salon why I was charged the upper end of this range automatically, they said that the Brazilian blowout is $350 and the other smoothing services are the ones that are $250. That's not what is listed on the webpage. Only the price range. This price was not communicated to me prior to signing up for this service that I had no prior knowledge about and that was "sold" to me while in the salon.

My wife just got back from Roots Salon and Wellness and her hair looks fantastic. I haven't seen it look this good since she had it styled by Anh Co Tran. Zachery took the time and worked magic on her hair, turned the clock back 15 years. Now only if he could do that for me ;) Roots Salon has picked up another lifer. I can't attach before images, I like being married but you can see the after pics no problem!

This is definitely not what I showed her

After spending way too much time and money for this look, I'm sincerely disgruntled. I had pictures from multiple angles of my prior cut. Somehow the asymmetrical bob I asked for turned into an impossible to maintain shag. This cut would be great for someone with thick, wavy hair-- on mine it just looks dried out and damaged unless I'm spending a lot of time/heat on it. And because she took way too much off in the wrong places there's no way to fix it until it grows out. The color probably would work as a pop color on natural hair, but it's a little dull from my usual and I'm finding patches of brassy/blonde in under layers.

I desperately needed a hair cut after 3 years of not seeing a stylist and trimming my own ends. Tori had a last minute opening so I gave it a shot. She was FANTASTIC. Literally looked at the photos and knew exactly what I wanted! I felt like we were on the same page the entire time. I never book appointments at check out, but I could not pass up seeing her again for a haircut! Tori is a star.

Trenton was my hairstylist I had never been to this salon but we were staying in Cary visiting family. I never have time to go so I made an appointment the front desk staff was very nice. I went in Monday and spent literally from 10:30-2 with Trenton. I'll never forget he told me every woman should feel beautiful leaving there and I certainly did. I went from a mousy brown back to an amazing highlight job done by him! He truly captured exactly what I was going for. Family was telling me left and right how much they loved my hair and highlights. I will be back since he did such a great job!

I'm relatively new to the area and found this place (and Sarah) at random in Feb. I just want a good trim with layers a few times a year. I've visited Sarah twice now and she has done a fantastic job every time. She listens to what I ask for and doesn't push me into anything else, and knows how to accentuate my natural waves. Plus she's super friendly and fun to chat with. I'm so happy to have found her!

I came prepared with a couple photos of the style I wanted - U shaped with long layers. The stylist understood perfectly and the haircut only took about an hour. Scissorhands is my family's favorite with my two younger brothers regularly getting haircuts here. Andy is not as friendly as Miss Kim in Morrisville, but we recently had a nice conversation about the Korean language since I just started studying it. The cut was masterful, for sure, and followed the example I showed in a photo saved in my phone. Shampoo was included at no additional cost and I did not have to wait in my latest visit around Friday noon. I used to pay around $30 to $35 for a regular men's cut but the latest service, Andy charged me $40 (not including tips). As for the atmosphere, it's more spacious than their old location (where they shared space with other salons) but it's not as spacious as Hair News. Nonetheless, it's in a good location by High House Road, close to Cici's Pizza, a small Walmart market, and just less than 5 minutes drive away from HMart.

When you arrive you fill out paperwork with a few questions and they take your temperature. Do not forget your mask because they are required. The salon is split into two zones and the stylists have assigned teams that they work certain days with so if there is a COVID incident the chance of spread is minimal. They are still not serving drinks but blow drys are back! Alysha is the best stylist. I've been going to her for my cuts and colors since she was a blossom. You really can't go wrong with any of the stylists here though. They do a mentor program for new stylists, receive training to stay up-to-date with the latest techniques, they love where they work and are passionate about what they do. I highly recommend Blo. I also wanted to comment about what they did during the shutdown. They gave away free hair color to existing clients, there was a suggested donation of $20 (or more) and the proceeds went to No Kid Hungry NC. How amazing is that? One last thing, bring cash for the tip. They have an ATM if you forget (or you can just do venmo).

I told her my hair wings when layered and to leave it long. She promptly chopped off a large top piece and proceeded to layer my entire head. The longest section was only ~3 inches long. She then tried to form ringlets and left it to air dry. It was simply awful. Trying to keep an open mind (and having no other option), I thought I might get used to it. I left the salon. I called her two days later and left a message that I was having trouble making my winging hair look halfway decent, and wondered if she could squeeze me in for a quick fix prior to my event. I was desperate. She never even called back. Very disappointing. I went to my event with a bird's nest hairdo that several people told me wasn't my best look... It was humiliating. I guess she doesn't care about dissatisfied customers.

It didn't take long before I found Curl Up and Dye. The reviews sounded great (aside from the one scheduling snafu), so I made my appointment. If you're a new client, you won't be able to get in the same week. Kim is a one-woman show and is busy... because she's so good! So I scheduled my appointment for a few weeks out. I initially left her a message and she called me back when she was in between clients. Her place was easy to find, with its own little parking lot which made it convenient to zip in and out. Kim was friendly and listened to what I was looking for, and made suggestions based on my hair type. It was great. She was extremely efficient and my hair came out amazing. Now, I even send my husband there to get his hair cut. She is reasonably priced and sells Aveda products in her salon. I would definitely recommend Kim to anyone looking for a salon in the area... she's worth the wait!
