I originally discovered K Elizabeth Salon via Groupon. I was looking for a good salon that would do full highlights and a cut (nothing crazy), but I always check reviews before buying a Groupon deal or making an appointment. K Elizabeth had great reviews that made me decide to give it a try. Although they don't offer online scheduling, they are very flexible and made scheduling easy. It is a quaint salon off St. Mary's Street in downtown Raleigh. There is parking behind and a little on the street (if you are lucky). About 3 weeks prior to my appointment, I got silly and colored my hair with Clairol Color Crave Semi-Permanent in Scarlet; let's just say my hair was RED. This stuff lasts 15+ washes; there's an understatement. After weeks of washing, my hair was a faded red/orange ugliness. I work from home, so not too many people thought it was CRAZY. I walked in and promptly apologized to Maddie for the condition of my hair. She was concerned that highlights, etc. might damage it due to the WONKY color, but she accepted the challenge. She spent a lot of time figuring out the best way to get rid of or remove/reduce the red. After working her magic, my hair just had minimal hints of red, and looked AWESOME! I was VERY impressed with Maddie and the team at K Elizabeth. They are all very friendly, and I could have spent more time watching them interact and just have fun. read more

I've been here twice with Ally - once for a fashion color (periwinkle blue) and cut and another to turn my blonde color back to a chocolate brown / copper tone. Ally did an amazing job each time - I sent over a picture of inspiration and she was able to absolutely nail it! When I got the blue halo color done, Karen mixed some take-home ColorCraft, which was super helpful so that I could refresh the color whenever it faded. This salon definitely knows what their doing when it comes to color - I've never had a better experience with getting exactly what I ask for at a salon! You do have to park on the street, but generally you can find parking no problem, and I do recommend calling well in advance for an appointment (especially if you're doing color), since they book up pretty fast. Price is pretty affordable as well and the entire team are sweethearts! read more

Christian rescued my hair from a 10 month COVID disaster! It was a mess of colors from using drugstore products all year and he brought it back to life. This is a very cool spot, staff is super fun and friendly, and they definitely were taking COVID very seriously. Plenty of space and only two client including myself at a a time. Yesterday was a great salon experience at K Elizabeth Salon. I watched as other stylists (Christian and Maddie) turned out great colors and cuts and hoped my results would be as well executed, the results exceeded my hope. I moved here from ATL and have been nervous on finding the right person. After trying and being disappointed by someone else, I'm happy to say I've found my stylist in K Elizabeth's owner Karen. I arrived with pictures of what I wanted and even what I did not want. Karen asked questions not only about the results I wanted, but my current products, hair routine, the amount of time I wanted to spend styling and how often I wanted to come in for maintenance/styling appointments. The consultation alone was enough to win me over. What I wanted: I wanted to give some oomph to my current style by creating more contrast between my natural roots and the feathering at the bottom of my hair. She achieved this by placing a semi permanent color at the top which was a shade darker than my natural, then highlighted up from the bottom with a much lighter blonde. As a working professional I needed the oomph to be subtle and that's exactly what she achieved. Fun fact: she was running an amazing first time special that made the price stupid affordable. We all know that finding a space to get one's hair done is vital when moving to a new city. I came upon K Elizabeth through Groupon and I am so glad that I did. Their space is cozy and comfortable. I was immediately greeted as I came in and from then on the experience was great. Ally is the stylist who worked with me and she was attentive and listened to what I asked for. Along the way Karen, who I believe owns the salon, was checking in to make sure everything was going smoothly. One thing that I noticed is that Karen remembered my name and referred to me by name when speaking or asking me questions. It is so easy for people, customers and stylists alike, to just check out during the service. However I was offered coffee and given tips on where to visit as I am new to the area. I have had two hair cut and colors with Maddie. The entire team is friendly and vibrant and you can tell they enjoy their work. Where do I begin?! Well the other day I had a mental break down about my hair and NEEDED to get it done as soon as possible but being 6 months pregnant I'm trying to save as much money as possible. So I decided to buy a Groupon. I chose K. Elizabeth Salon because of their positive reviews and decided I could put my trust in them and quite honestly I just had a good gut feeling vs. the other places that were on Groupon. First Karen's salon makes you happy the moment you walk in. The decor is upbeat, funky and just gives off a positive vibe. It felt like a little family, everyone was super welcoming and involved in conversation. Karen, Shawna, Christian and Maddie were all so inviting and made the whole experience absolutely perfect. Karen was my stylist. She's also the owner. She took the time to figure out what I was envisioning for my hair. Somehow she made sense of what I wanted, given I felt I was all over the place. Her and Maddie kept the conversation going so effortlessly while they put the highlights in. Karen really did wonders on my hair and worked her magic. I absolutely love my hair now. The place has a funky vibe, a good music selection, and great personalities, Christian even dance for me, LOL. The owner was on site cutting hair at the next chair over. I just recently started going to a salon, up until now, I was going to great clips or some other generic haircut place. Guys, do yourself a favor and go to this salon, you will not be disappointed. I can't tell you how many times I went to Great Clips and left with a buzz cut that I could easily done myself AND I didn't even want a buzz cut! This place is well kept, clean, cozy, and everyone is super friendly. The staff will converse with you as you had known each other for years which I greatly enjoy. They offer beverages while you are getting your hair done and shampoo/massage your hair at least twice. Shawna does my hair and she does an amazing job, at this point she knows what I like as far as style, so all I have to do is sit and enjoy my diet coke while she does her thang. They have a super high quality standard here and lots of cool little haircut toys that I'm always awed by. After a friend used a Groupon here and had an awesome experience with her cut and baylage with Shawna Casey, I signed up for my first time ever coloring my hair. Shawna is SO friendly and knowledgeable about color and made me feel comfortable with the process. She even grabbed me dinner from next door while we waited for the color to set! (I paid of course :). The color turned out amazing and the razor cut was so professional- don't think I can go back to scissors for my straight, fine, and somewhat thick hair.
