Ever time i go to this salon i get so happy. No one else can touch my hair but these women!! I made an appointment a week ahead and once i got there, they were ready for me. They made me feel comfortable and i felt safe with my hair!! 10/10 recommend! I have really curly hair and once i washed my hair, the curls were still there the best part haha. Please be aware of this salon. They burned an entire plug of my hair out. The stylist Alba acted as if nothing happened and the mother walked over to look after smelling burned hair. I went to the car and an entire plug of hair can out when I rubbed my hand across my scalp. I walked back into the salon and called Alba out to speak with her about what happened. She stated it was not that bad and that the hair will grow back, she smiled in an evil way the entire time and did not offer to do anything until I made the suggestion. STAY AWAY!!!! I would come here once and a while when my regular stylist was out of town or couldn't get me in. That's when I found Abril, she explained everything to me and showed me my hair was damaged. Fast forward to covid and them closing for a couple months. When they reopened they did increase prices which I understand, you have extra cost now;but don't nickel and dime me. Meaning if I want curly, it's extra, if I go on the weekend, it's extra. Pretty soon it will be if you want rollers it's extra. Now, Abril has her own shop and I know what to expect, my hair is so healthy and I love her honesty, she will tell you what your hair needs to be healthy! and she is open on Sundays! read more

I came in for a touch up texturizer and it turned into a 4 hour long process which resulted in my hair being permanently damaged. My hair has always been strong and thick but after leaving my hair noticeably brittle which resulted in a majority of it falling out in the weeks after the appointment. This may be the best place for someone who isn't African American but if you value your hair staying on your head stay away. *My hair was not natural when making my appointment but had always been healthy. read more

This is a very well deserved 5 stars! I am visiting Raleigh from out of town and text my friend, who's the best in town? She says Sunni. I google Sunni, get Capriccio, she tells me it's the same place and that she would make me an appointment. Great experience. It was clean. Free WiFi. When my hair was washed, the conditioner was gently combed through my hair to the ends. When i asked for a roller set they happily obliged, and again gently combed out my hair. I never felt as though they were rough or unnecessarily yanked out my hair to get the comb through and parts separated. The products are high quality. I prefer stylist use the least amount of product on my hair as possible, and i was happy at the end it wasn't weighed down with shine spray. It was not greasy at all. The stylist was very personable and held conversation with me the whole time she was styling my hair. Next time I'm in town, i will be back! read more

Ask for Angie. I don't chemically "relax" aka "perm" my hair. I decided to go all natural in 2006. Realized my hair could be straightened out without the chemicals if I put the time and effort into it. It was painstaking to do it myself so I took a chance with Sunny's salon. I get my hair done with Angie and she turns my Afro into Asian bone straight that lasts me a week and 1/2. Ask for Angie because she will not force you to go under the hair dryer with rollers. This causes extra waves and curls that are really hard to "blow out" with the hand blow dryer. ASK FOR ANGIE - 100% DOMINICAN that can tame the wildest of hair. read more

Sunny's Salon is located in mini city for those who are familiar with Raleigh. This was actually my first time visiting a Dominican hair salon. I absolutely love my hair!! I moved here from Atlanta, Georgia almost 4 years ago, and had been going to a Dominican salon there for the past 5 years. I continued to travel back and forth to Atlanta to get my hair done until someone suggested Sunny's Salon. I called first to see what products they used because I have a relaxer and I also get semi-permanent hair color, along with a regimen of deep conditioning and leave-in conditioner and serums. My stylist in Atlanta used very good products (e.g., Alter Ego, Salerm, Silicon Mix, Una, etc.), and I had to be certain Sunny's used similar products because they're part of what keeps my hair healthy, plus good products are important to me. Well when I called they gave me a list that consisted of everything I'd hoped they used and more. Needless to say I've been coming every week since then (except when I'm just too tired), and they keep my hair looking flawless. My stylist is Ana, but listen closely, every single stylist in the salon can do some hair. Whether your hair is natural or relaxed they will have you walking out of the salon with beautiful healthy hair. Keep in mind they do focus on healthy hair (while still making certain your hair looks good), and for me that means a little more time under the dryer for my deep conditioning treatments and leave-in conditioner and serum before getting my hair set on rollers, but it's worth it. Depending on your hair type you may not have to sit under the dryer with rollers. Give them a call, and tell them what you want. Those of you with natural hair, sometimes they do ask you to come by before your scheduled appointment (if possible), just to take a look at your hair and see what type of natural hair you have. Can I just say this will be the one and only salon for me here in Raleigh!! I called for an appointment at 10 and was told I could come in for my service at 1015. It was a last minute decision to have my hair lightened cut and styled. I got there and was greeted immediately by the stylists. I wasn't too sure of what I wanted or if it was even possible. Alba took the time to look at my hair, look at the pictures I bought in and guided me through choosing my new color. I wanted to lighten it quite a bit but felt completely at ease letting her lighten my hair. I have very dark long thick hair that I'm very attached to. Alba did an excellent job. The base and highlights turned out phenomenal and I have been getting nothing but compliments on my new style. I highly recommend this salon. Make an appointment because they definitely are busy. I also need to add that they do an amazing job blowing hair out. You will walk out there with a silky shiny Dominican blowout like no other. read more

Last time going!!!! Extremely unprofessional and just Rude!!! I took my daughter to get her hair done and not only are they very unprofessional, they change their prices from week to week. If you look like you have money, the mother Ana will tell her daughter to up charge the price (in Spanish not realizing I spoke Spanish) and when asked why the price was different this time, she pretty much said because it is (in a harsh tone that frightened my daughter who is 12)!!! I stopped going as they did not take the time to detangle my hair - it was pulled out of my head and I was burned with blow dryer a few times! My hair started falling out bad so I stopped going a few years ago. But thought I'd give them another chance. Bad idea. I felt like the owner and her daughters were upset that they were at work and didn't want to be there! I still can't believe they wanted to charge me $70 for a wash and blowout on a 12 yr old. No deep conditioning or nothing! But they said cause she has long hair but charged me $50 last time! No it was because they try and get over on anyone! Just money hungry as they don't care for your hair (flat irons are set to 400 even if you don't need all that heat and we don't need a lot of heat in our hair) Smells like burnt hair in the salon! You will leave with more damage than you came in with if you go to them often!!!! Bottom line is this place is unprofessional and the owner and her daughters are extremely rude! Note: they constantly have new stylist and the old stylist that are no longer there, mentioned the owner and daughters are rude and jerked ppl for their time and money and they couldn't work for people like that! So sad for business! read more
