ABBREVIATED VERSION - Nail tech, Becky D. displayed the following during my service: IGNORANT - making broad generalizations about Asian people. POOR QUALITY WORK INDIGNANT when asked to repair her mistakes First of all. F. Came here to get my nails done bc I couldn't get to my usual salon. Made an appointment with Becky D. Told her I needed my existing pink and white SNS redone (full set). Set the appointment for the next day. I get there 10 minutes early, she's 10 minutes late. No biggie. I tell Becky that I need a pink and white ombre. Becky tells me that she doesn't know how to do ombre because her clientele is much older and just want basic services. Becky now wants to downgrade my original service from a full set at $60 to a fill in for $45. Mind you, I get my nails done every 2 weeks and don't pay that at my usual salon. But, again, this was only because I couldn't get to my usual place. So fine, do the fill. If you know you don't know how to do what I'm asking for, I don't need you learning on my time. So Becky asks where I usually get my nails done and I say it's a shop back home. I go on to say that it's hard to find a salon that actually does SNS, because some places claim to, but are actually still doing acrylic. (No reference to race at all.) Becky says Yeah those little oriental shops are used to using cheap products and don't want to pay for the SNS. She's already filing my nails, at this point. One of her coworkers come into her cubicle and asks her what she's talking about. Becky goes on to say that I (the customer) was telling HER how those oriental shops use cheap stuff. (So evidently we're just going to pretend that someone ELSE and not you was saying this ignorant bull.) Don't worry, I didn't let that ride, but in the interest of brevity I won't include here. Becky starts on the SNS. For some reason, she's not wearing a mask and blowing on my nails to get the excess powder off (gross). She starts filing one nail before the dip powder has set and is still gummy. She starts filing my pink and white ombre with a black nail file. As expected, the black color from the file starts to mix with the powder, now I have this little dark spot on my nail. She dips another nail twice in pink. (No I didn't ask for an accent nail.) So this whole nail is tinted pink while the rest are pink and white. I mention this to Becky several times throughout the service so she can fix it. She files both a little, but, ultimately, both still have the same issue, just a little lighter. She says a couple of times, well it'll look better once the clear coat is on. (Because, somehow, flaws, discolorations, lumps, and bumps are always LESS noticeable when you shine them up.) At this point, this has been a waste of time, and I'm going to have to get my nails redone because they're just not right. It's not a blazing catastrophe, but my nails are always done. I've asked you to correct your mistakes and you haven't. Before she applied the clear coat, i asked her for the fourth time to fix the dark mark and the pink tint on the affected fingers. Becky says I CAIN'T DO NOTHING ABOUT THAT. But why not? You messed it up. That must've been in the powder. The powder you JUST APPLIED and drug a black nail file through? Becky says, Let's just see how it looks with the clear coat. Becky applies clear coat Guess what! Pink tint and dark spot on nail still visible! The clear coat gods didn't will the mistakes away as promised. CUT TO THE CHASE! Now I'm gonna need a price adjustment. I have to get these redone at my USUAL salon, where they know how to do ombre and nails in general. I've already wasted an hour and half for nothing. Quoted price was $45. She offers to reduce it to $40. Um no. Becky is getting agitated. I knew you were going to do this. I've dealt with YOUR KIND before! I don't follow. What kind? You just want to complain the whole time to try to get something off the bill. But Becky, YOU downgraded my service because you didn't know HOW to do ombre. I've asked you throughout the service to fix these two mistakes you made. You didn't. People SHOULD complain if they're paying for a service that's not to their satisfaction. I have to get these completely redone. Becky says, THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH YOUR NAILS. $40. No.I'm not paying you nearly full price for shoddy work. I'll pay you for your time, but not $40. Becky says, YOU CAN GO. I'M DONE WITH YOU. I'VE DEALT WITH 'YOUR KIND' BEFORE. (Two guesses what your kind means.) So I say, I'm willing to pay you, but not $40. JUST LEAVE! (Becky was mad, Y'all. Watch out!) You sure? You ok? Becky says I've been doing nails 30 years and dealt with 2 people like you. Ok Becky. Is there a manager here? Nope! We're independently owned! No problem. Linda Connor and Olivia Jordan are both so talented and I highly recommend them. My daughter had prom and I didn't schedule her appointment correctly for the blowout that she wanted. Linda was so professional to make changes and did a beautiful job on her hair! Linda asked about makeup and I don't have those skills and hadn't scheduled for her to get makeup. Linda was gracious to ask Olivia about helping apply some lashes. She saw our need and Olivia stepped up to the challenge beautifully! I am grateful that she went so far out of her way to make my daughter's prom night special and made her feel like a beautiful princess! I'm so, so happy to have found Linda, the curly hair specialist here! This was my second time coming to her for a Ouidad cut and WOW, she is the hair whisperer. My mixed up, wavy/curly/frizzy hair has been called difficult in the past. I've had lots of hairstylists who say they cut curls/waves that ended up giving me another 6 months of a frizzy triangle that I had to fight into shape. Not Linda! She made me love my hair again after both cuts I've gotten from her, and it seems to find it's shape without a fight after every wash now. I will not be going to anyone else. Well, I'm sure we as parents share some of the blame here but also, shame on Danielle at Posh Salon. Our teenage daughter wanted to get past a bad dye job that had finally washed itself out but maybe still had a hint of tint remaining. Anyway, she went to Danielle for the first time, shared what was going on and asked for a cut and highlights to fix things up. 8 hours and $800 later my daughter ended up with a partial cut and no highlights. Danielle decided she needed a color treatment first and without consulting us on cost, proceeded down this unbelievably costly path. When we finally realized what was happening, it was too late. Beyond that, we assumed that Danielle would finish the cut and highlights for the $800 but told us that, "no, to finish would be another $450"...but she did say she would take the hit and do it for $250. So over $1,000 to get a teenager's hair partially cut and colored but with no highlights. Unbelievable. We paid her the $800 and are moving on but again, shame on Danielle for how she handled this and a word of caution for other parents. read more

Serena cut my hair about a month ago. I quickly needed to get a trim and some styling done before a trip and she was able to squeeze me in that day. I have very simple Asian hair and struggle with lack of volume. She does the dry cutting, which I had never received before, and this is the only way I will cut my hair now! My straight hair had volume after just a cut, without any blow dry or anything. She is so knowledgeable in her profession, very accommodating and best of all, honest. She told me my hair does not need a trim every 6 weeks and told me to come back in 3 months. Most places will just schedule for 6 weeks no matter what. I really appreciate her making time for me that day because now I have a forever stylist in this area! I called last week to set up an appointment for a consultation and got an appointment to talk about cut & color. I met with Mark Anthony and it went really well. We went over prices and what would be best/what I was looking for. Originally, I wanted to go kind of drastic, but the fact that my hair was damaged and i'm low-maintenance kind of makes that difficult. We wrapped up and he scheduled me for today (Monday 24th) at Noon. I got in about 5 minutes early and walked right to his booth. One of the great things about this salon is that you stay in the booth for wash, cut, and color which I love. You aren't sitting with 5 other people, waiting, or shlumping around the salon from chair to chair. I had one person in one booth the entire time so you're not being passed off from person to person. We started talking color and i'm not really up and up with hair terms, but I knew the look I wanted so I showed him some cute pics from Pinterest of pretty brown hair that I loved and he made it happen. He did the color, did the wash, then the cut. My hair was a little scary and not healthy feeling when I went in. I should have taken a before with it down, but it wasn't great. I feel confident that I will come back and get a cut from this place because my hair looks and feels 10x better than when I went in. Yes, it costs more than the $7 haircut I got a few weeks ago, but there's a reason it was $7. It's also cheaper and puts out better work than some people downtime. I was really hesitant to have anything done to my hair, but now i'm really happy about it. My hair is on the thick and curly/wavy side so I needed an extra color bottle thingy so my total was $100 for cut, wash, and color which I think is amazing for how it came out. I saw Serena today for my first ever experience with highlights. I've always had naturally bright blonde hair but as I've entered my late 30's it has become much less blonde and has started to look dull. I can't say enough about Serena! I was a little nervous going in (I have literally never colored or had highlights at all!) but she knew exactly what I was looking for. She highlighted and trimmed my hair and I LOVE it! We were very pleased with the service at Posh Salon for our bridal party! Jaclyn and Tiffany were willing to come in early on wedding day to make sure our updos were finished in plenty of time for the day's festivities. They were willing to work off photos/preferences of the bridesmaids or offered suggestions when asked. In the end, the hairstyles were classic and lovely, each one unique. Prices were among the most reasonable available in the area. The waiting area in the salon was a bit small but the open ambiance was pleasant. I just moved to Raleigh and was super nervous about finding a new hair stylist, but this salon exceeded my expectations!! The atmosphere is a little quirky compared to what I go used to in Atlanta; each stylist acts as her own receptionist and has her own cubicle work space with a sink, chair, and mirror. A guy even came in selling fresh fruits to anyone who wanted them (apparently this happens frequently). Kristen is an awesome stylist. I have been dying my hair from blonde to red for the past five years or so and she did a fabulous job on the color. She is a Redken expert and really knows what she is doing. I loved the atmosphere of the salon. Very laid back yet professional and everyone was really nice; I was offered drinks and friendly conversation while waiting for my stylist, Don. If I could simply rate everyone else at the salon, I would definitely give 4-5 stars. Everyone I saw walking out of there looked delighted with their look. I had Don as a stylist and he is the sole reason that I didn't give a higher rating. He no longer works there, but he did not listen to what I had asked for. Since this is a common problem in the hair styling world - or at least, people aren't specific enough with what they want and end up dissatisfied - I came prepared. I had colored pictures detailing the plain, "chocolate brown" color I desired and the length of bangs I wanted. Instead, he ignored my pleas for a "flat" color and insisted that red would look great. I told him I didn't want that and yet, I somehow still left with very bright, distinctive red on the top (my hair had grown out so this was fresh, un-dyed hair) and a dark auburn at the ends. Between the red hair and the short bangs - much shorted than the picture depicted - I left very unhappy. To top it off, he pretended to not know anything about the 25% off new customer discount that their website boasts, and then made me feel as if he was doing me a FAVOR by honoring it. Before I left, he made me promise to give him an online review - well, you got it, buddy. I almost feel as if I am being unfair to the salon for giving them a rating on a stylist that no longer works there, but that was simply my experience there. I went here while in town for a wedding. I definitely think that Jacklynn is an awesome stylist! I had several compliments on my hair. HOWEVER, my style was $35 (no wash, cut, ANYTHING) and this was WITH the 25% off or whatever for the YELP check-in. That, in My opinion, was a rip off. I don't mind paying whatever for quality, but I think for a simple style $25 is more reasonable. If you think about it, the normal price must actually be $44...no way. Recently she started using a product called SNS on my nails. If you haven't tried it you owe it to yourself to go see Becky. This new product goes on thinner and is much stronger. Kristen is my hero. Speaking from the experience of at least a half dozen traumatic haircuts and at least one botched color job under my belt, I can say that I'm incredibly leery of having to find a new salon but my premature greys made putting this off any longer an impossibility. I'm not telling this story to encourage this approach, but I'll say I was impressed with how easily they were able to fit me in on such short notice (again, greys...). I emailed them on a Tuesday and asked for a Saturday appointment and was able to get in, even with 2 wedding updo appointments going on that day before me. I love that each individual stylist's station is completely self-sufficient. In other words, there aren't stations for each part of the process, each stylist has an area that has a sink, cutting hair and drying chair and they each take your payment themselves. Kristen came recommended by a friend of mine (with great hair), and I will absolutely be going back to see her. Not only did she do a fantastic job on my hair, she was incredibly pleasant and her prices are incredibly reasonable. I can't begin to explain how elated I am to have a salon I'm comfortable with in my new city! read more

Audrie Baker Sweet as Pie (Pun Intended) I have been going to Audrie for several years and find her to be the kindest and most even-tempered stylist I know. She's also fast and always looking for ways to save her clients time without sacrificing quality. The Salon is beautiful and calming as well as very conveniently located, right at the corner of Whitaker Mill Road and Atlantic Avenue, and it's very easy to park. There are several other shops in the same center that would be fun to visit if I had time! I love that the stylists have their own cubicles. It's easy to make an appt. by phone or by email, and Audrie always sends appt. reminders. There is a great magazine selection, a good product selection, and Audrie, despite having a full complement of clients, is really nice about working me in when I have a last minute hair emergency. Becky Daughtry is also very nice and does excellent nails, including nail design. Pricing is very reasonable. After making quite a few calls to other salons I found an esthetician at Posh that listened to my concerns and found an appointment that worked for me around a hectic travel schedule. I wanted someone who used LED lights instead of UV (recommended by my dermatologist) lights and Becky Daughtry was great. She came in on her day off and did a fabulous job. Mindy was my hair stylist and makeup artist for my wedding. I cannot say enough good things about her. My hair looked beautiful, it exceeded my expectations. She pinned it in an updo with fresh roses woven throughout. My makeup looked natural and beautiful. It lasted the entire night and did not show the tears and puffy eyes I know I had! I was blown away when I saw how flawless it looked. My bridesmaids all had beautiful hair that lasted the entire night as well. I cannot recommend Mindy enough! read more
