I just got my hair trimmed and somehow it cost me $85. I asked how much a cut was, and the receptionist said $25. After my hair had been washed and cut, the stylist asked if I wanted it dried. I assumed that meant an upcharge for blow drying it, but I couldn't very well go back to work with wet hair, so I said yes. Well as it turns out, that was a $45 "blow out." That's so shady to me.
The actual service was mediocre. The place wasn't that clean, the stylists were not very professional, and the cut and dry took a little over an hour. The hair dryer was too hot and burned me in several places, and she couldn't get my bangs right so she just gave up and let them flop back. Again, if it had only cost me $25, I wouldn't be unhappy with these things. It just comes with a cheap haircut. But $70!?! I expect much more for that kind of money.
You should also be aware that they use an app on an iPad for payment, and it charged me a $4.75 fee and didn't give me the option to write in a tip amount, so my lowest choice was %15 gratuity.
So... if you're in a pinch and this is your only choice for a hair cut, don't let them dry it and bring cash. read more
