My daughter and I went on a Dad & Daughter day. She picked this place because we were in the mood for some nice seafood. The service was absolutely amazing. The food was top tier! From the moment we walked in to the moment we left excellent staff. Every dish from the appetizer to dessert!

This restaurant came highly recommended by friends from San Antonio. I was there with 7 others enjoying time away from home. Bliss is a bit upscale and while most of us arrived in golf attire, I would suggest business casual for the dress code. We had reservations and were seated immediately. Mary was our server and did an excellent job handling our group. While we all asked for separate checks, the automatic 20% gratuity was already added to our tab but was highlighted on the check. I ordered with Oyster Sliders which were very good. The octopus appetizer was shared with the group and was also very tender and tasty. For the main course, I ordered the special of Shrimp and Grits. It was excellent! While the food may be a bit pricey, it is definitely worth it. Everything was a culinary experience.

This is an updated review. The staff, ambiance and food are still amazing. If you have an opportunity to try the braised short rib do not hesitate. Its heaven on a plate with the silliest mashed potatoes I have ever had . Everything was delicious. Our waitress Candace was a joy from start to finish.

Amazing food always. Got to love a place that delivers at such a high level consistently. The service is always A+. Nice seating areas inside and a wonderful patio. Some of my favorites are the Spanish octopus, tuna tartare, bone marrow, roast chicken and the hanger steak. Restaurant Week is a great time to try. Reservations highly reccomended.

Despite having food poisoning from eating the short rib meal, I will say that the food was delicious and the service was superb. We completely loved Marcy and her expertise with the menu and the service! The ambiance was amazing too. It was chill and the low lights with the table lamps made it feel great! Here is my rating on each meal: Short Ribs: 4/5 - the sour cream like sauce on the ribs was too much. Duck: 4/5 - we removed the duck liver and everything was so good including the salad & butternut squash. Butter cake: 5/5 - we removed the ice cream here and enjoyed the sauce.

Bliss was a wonderful place to celebrate my sister-in-law's birthday last weekend. Our table was ready upon arrival (with reservations, of course), and Matty, our server, was excellent. He knew the menu well, took great care of us, and truly made the evening feel special. My husband and I both ordered the ribeye, cooked Pittsburgh rare, and the kitchen absolutely delivered--perfectly crusted on the outside with a beautiful red center. The sides were good, but the beef was undeniably the star of the plate. We enjoyed wine and dessert and left genuinely impressed. It was a fantastic evening from start to finish.

Amazing! We had the ultimate date night out at Bliss this evening. The front patio was quiet and relaxing, the service was exemplary and the food was spectacular Just look at the photos of their carpacchio and tuna tartar appetizers, followed up with a shrimp and grits with an out-of-this-world Cajun beurre blanc. And don't get me started on dessert. Had the most decadent chocolate heaven with miso caramel and black sesame taille. OmG, nirvana!!! Thanks for a wonderful evening.

My wife and I recently celebrated our wedding anniversary; I knew Bliss had been on her radar for sometime. Going in the door, I should say I have a love/hate relationship with what I consider to be high dollar bougie/trendy restaurants. The experiences, for the most part, are often good, but I routinely leave feeling I overpaid for the amount of food received. We were seated promptly and there is absolutely no complaint about the service here. The "happy anniversary" printed on our menus was a nice touch. We were waited on consistently throughout our meal; the table was constantly bussed and cleared away. The ambiance is perfect for a date night...low lit and quiet. We shared the oyster sliders to start, which were fine. Entrees included the beef short ribs for me and scallops and mushroom risotto for her. Everything was very well done, beautifully presented, and the portions were a decent size...but I was still hungry when I was finished. My wife ate most of her meal, but began feeling a little queasy toward the end. So, I was on my own for dessert and was underwhelmed by the butter cake. I found it crumbly and dry, and did not care to finish it. My wife got sick on the way home and was not a happy camper the rest of our anniversary evening. Really wish this had turned out better...for her.

Excellent experience dining outside at Bliss. My favorite bite of the night was the tostadas. So good in fact I put in a second order. My server was excellent and ensured I had a great experience as a solo diner. Will return!

This restaurant has a special place in my heart With private parking space, beautiful indoor and outdoor seating and excellent service, Bliss is one of my favorite restaurants for a romantic dinner in San Antonio. The menu is small but with enough options for an unforgettable dinner and their wine selection is extraordinary. I went for my dinner and it was an excellent birthday experience! Everyone loved their food and we got excellent service. You will never go wrong with Bliss restaurant, check out what we ordered!

The staff was wonderful and so patient. We had many questions and they were quick while being able to be thorough on their responses. All the food was quite different in flavor with different textures we were not expecting. The bathrooms were clean, the cutlery was constantly being changed out. There was one dish that was completely inedible the whole table tried to eat it and it was just unpleasant so that is the reason for one less star. It went unnoticed by the staff and we didn't want to call out the dish or make a scene. Everything else was wonderful and we had a great time!

Ask the Community - Bliss

Does Bliss have spirits or only wine?

No liquor! Just wine, beer, and sake.

Please explain the dress code. Can men wear khaki shorts? Are casual rubber soled shoes sport shoes?

Rubber soled shoes like sperry's would be just fine. Crocs--no way imo!! Dress shorts~ depends on time of year. I would give them a call to have a better understanding of their dress code.

Do you have a corkage fee at Bliss?

Yes! $35 a bottle.

I know there is a parking lot, but do they offer valet?

No valet is offered but there's parking on the street around the restaurant.

How are the portions?

The portions are a little smaller but for the meat items they are bigger. Appetizers are small and fish plates are small as well.

What's the corckage policy on outside bottle brought in?

They charged $30.

What is the wine selection like?

Very extensive. They range from very affordable to very expensive, they have reds, whites, roses, and sparkling. Some you can get by glass, I believe you can get all of them as bottles. The one we had was a Pinot Nero, it was about $45 (I believe?)…

First visited this restaurant in 2024 on a business trip, came back in 2026 for another trip and this is still our favorite (or 1A with Mon Chou Chou being 1B) San Antonio restaurant that transcends Texas cuisine cliches to create something unique and special. On this trip we had a lovely butternut squash soup, flavorful scallops, a to die for Hudson Foie Gras with extra French toast (a unique pairing that worked), killer lamb chops, a late arriving basket of bread (only service hiccup in the two visits) and the outstanding soufflé which we had twice two years ago. Wine list is excellent and decent restaurant pricing, service was friendly with only the bread basket issue. Otherwise she was a solid server who did the wine service professionally as well. I still wish the glass list wasn't at room temp. We bought a bottle off the glass list and had to chill it. We sat in the restaurant during our visits which is lively and energetic, the patio seats outdoor would be romantic on cooler nights. Glad to see such a consistently great restaurant in a tourist area! Highly recommended!

The lamb was also just absolutely to die for. The mustard crust on the lamb had great flavor and the mushroom & veal reduction sauce was a great combo! Wedding Anniversary Brunch at Box St. All Day…read more Yesterday, my husband and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary with brunch at Box St. All Day. After previewing the restaurant the evening before, we knew we had to try the Eggs Benedict with added chicken, chilaquiles with shredded pork, and twice-fried chicken. We arrived shortly after 12:30 p.m. on Thursday and were welcomed by our hostess, who let us choose our seats. Our waiter, Richard, introduced himself and when we mentioned our anniversary, he returned with two complimentary glasses of champagne garnished with gold-flecked raspberries! His genuine congratulations immediately made us feel special. He also shared menu recommendations and helped us choose our drinks: a Moscato for me and a refreshing raspberry drink for my husband. The restaurant's lively atmosphere, soft boho-inspired decor, and beautiful presentation were perfect for a warm fall afternoon. Our food arrived quickly, and everything was delicious. The twice-fried chicken was our favorite, with the chilaquiles a close second! Each dish looked as good as it tasted. Richard truly made the experience memorable. He checked on us regularly without being intrusive and made sure we felt celebrated throughout the meal. We were so impressed that we asked to speak with his supervisor, Spencer, to share our appreciation. Spencer was grateful for the feedback, and it was wonderful to see him helping the team deliver dishes to customers, a reflection of the restaurant's strong leadership and culture. Richard also noticed my military identification when I presented my credit card. Although I had forgotten to ask about the military discount, he took the initiative to verify my eligibility and apply it. As a retired Army veteran, I deeply appreciated the thoughtful gesture. Box St. All Day, you have something special here! The food, atmosphere, and exceptional service made our first wedding anniversary brunch one we will cherish. Thank you to Richard and Spencer for making us feel so appreciated and welcome. We will definitely be returning!

Luckily, we had dinner at Boudro's before a ghost tour, and neither one of these events was scary. We started with the oysters which were unique and delicious. After some bad meals on the river, we were glad Boudro's was so good!

So after reading the reviews for Boudro's, we decided to roll the dice. We started with the tableside guacamole. It's fun watching it being made right in front of you, and the guacamole was good. The flavors were more subtle than bold. Solid. Enjoyable. But I'm not running out to find a postcard to send home to Mama about it. Next came a Caprese-like salad. Again, good. Again, not life changing. Then we met the bread. Oh, that bread. Flaky on the outside. Tender and fluffy inside. This was the point where Boudro's officially had my attention. I could have ordered another basket, called it dinner and walked away perfectly happy. I'm getting hungry just writing about it. Then my wife and I shared the Pollo Asado. The menu describes it as a "Grilled Airline Chicken Breast." Airline chicken? I've been flying for decades. The words "airline" and "chicken" appearing together have never triggered pleasant memories. Thankfully, I learned that this wasn't THAT kind of airline chicken. It was marinated with adobo de achiote, citrus juices and olive oil, grilled over mesquite and oak, then served with caramelized corn, black beans and pineapple pico. And it was excellent. Beautifully prepared, juicy and packed with flavor. The pineapple pico and everything else on the plate worked together wonderfully. The bread had finally found its co-star. Overall, Boudro's didn't feel like the River Walk tourist trap we'd been warned about. Not every dish knocked us over, but everything was good, the Pollo Asado was excellent, and I'm still thinking about that bread. Four stars. And I've officially forgiven them for putting the word "airline" anywhere near my chicken.

I've visited many Yard House locations over the years in California and Arizona, so I was looking forward to another reliable experience. The restaurant was packed when we arrived, likely due to a convention or other large event in town. After being seated near the San Antonio Marriott entrance, we waited an astonishing 35 minutes before anyone came to our table. During that time, we repeatedly used the Ziosk call button but received no response. Thankfully, Nelson eventually stopped by and took great care of us. He seemed genuinely apologetic about the delay, and once our order was placed, everything went smoothly. The food was delicious, the beers were cold, and Nelson was attentive throughout the remainder of our visit. My frustration is not with Nelson but with the apparent lack of oversight that allowed guests to go so long without service. While I understand that restaurants can become overwhelmed during large events, waiting 35 minutes simply to place an order is far beyond what most customers would tolerate. I continue to enjoy Yard House and am sharing this experience because I would like to see the restaurant chain succeed. However, one of the servers, a woman wearing silver glitter on her face couldn't seem to keep her comments to herself. She ran drinks over twice, and after the second go around she walked away saying "Ugh I can't with you guys. I don't have the patience for this". When the food was coming out, she was bringing out a side that was being shared between two guests that both identified the side as theirs. She got frustrated and said something like, "you know what, I'm not even going to pay attention to the numbers anymore, what's the point". Again, I understand the food is ordered based on seating, but her tone was distasteful and unnecessary.
