I enjoy the fact that they offer vegan cheese (Daiya). There are tons of vegetables and meat toppings to choose from. I do wish they had more vegan options like grilled tofu or crumbles. Reasonable pricing for a personal size pizza. Generally $7.95. Depending on what time of day you get there, there can be a wait (no longer than 5min if that). Once you select your toppings, your pizza is done within 5min which is pretty awesome. I recommend this place if you're tired of the standard chain pizza spots. read more

I was really looking forward to trying Blaze since I think the concept of building your own pizza with unlimited toppings for one low price is pretty cool, but this pizza just didn't taste good to me. There were 6 people in my party and we ordered online for take out. The online system was super easy to use and I appreciated that there are so many choices for customizing your personal pizza. The order was placed and we were given a wait time of 18 minutes, which I was pleased to see was pretty much on the money, as the pizzas were coming out of the oven as we arrived to pick them up after 20 minutes. I ordered the classic crust with pesto base, cherry tomatoes, pepperoni, basil, mozzarella and goat cheese, and balsamic glaze. Our group also ordered an Art Lover and 4 other customized pizzas. Of the six of us, only one person really liked their pizza. We all agreed that the main issue was the crust. It wasn't crispy nor buttery - it was soft and really lacked flavor. It also had a strange scent, sort of yeasty but not in an appealing bakery sense of the word. It was just terribly underwhelming. There also wasn't a lot of cheese on any of the pies, even though most of us ordered pies with at least two varieties of cheese. The other toppings seemed fresh, but I personally would have liked to have seen the basil added after baking since it really crisped up and turned black when put in the oven. Maybe it was just an off night since this location is really new, but I doubt I'll give it another try when there are so many other decent pizza places in RTP. As a side note, I had signed up for Blaze's emails a few weeks ago and they have you enter your ZIP code. I found it strange that they didn't send out an email about their Durham opening. It's a chain, so I would prefer not to like it this much, but after eating a whole pizza by myself, I literally became sad as I ate the last piece... because it was the last piece. The general manager at this location of Blaze needs to know what's going on with his shift manager. We had an absolutely horrible experience and I am literally shaking leaving the restaurant because of the mismanaged customer service and highly emotional and unkind arguing she got into with us multiple times. First when we arrived she refused to honor a Blaze coupon for rewards for a cheesy bread that expired just 5 minutes before. we understood, however, rather than explaining that was company policy she was highly unprofessional and exclaimed toward us "That's life!" Then, I openes my pizza and ate a few bites and realized that it had been made incorrectly and that there was no sauce at all. I'd ordered the pizza with red sauce. I took the pizza back up to the register and a kind worker (NOT the shift leader) attempted to help me. This worker offered to remake my pizza but there was a huge line and an oven already full of 10+ pizzas and we were trying to make a quick stop on a roadtrip and I didn't have time to wait extra time. So that worker did the right thing and was trying to find a way to refund me since it was their error and I didn't have time to wait 10 extra minutes for them to correct it. The worker has to call the shift manager over to help. that manager got angry again and reluctantly handed me $15 for the pizza. She put the money in my hand glaring at me and not saying a word. Then as I scarfed down my pizza quickly in the corner with my husband and children. Just as I was finishing, the shift manager came over and said, Where is that pizza I refunded you for?! I said, I ate it because I didn't have time for you to remake it and that's what you all chose to do instead. She began belligerently arguing with me and my husband in front of our young children until finally my husband has to kindly but firmly three times ask her to step away from our table and our family. We usually eat at locally owned pizza joints but my GF recently went off wheat & flour products so I looked into a place that served cauliflower crust. Never having had it before we had no idea what to expect and mainly just hoped it wasn't horrible. Long review short, it was the BOMB!! Thin crispy crust with perfect crunch and fantastic toppings. After previously trying out their Cary location, I decided to try their Durham location during my lunch break. I did not have much time to spare so I placed an order online for pick up. Their online ordering is easy and quick. You have to pay online when you order, which makes pickup quick. When we arrived, our orders were accurate and ready on time. I ordered a 1/2 salad with 1/2 build your own pizza packed with ingredients (pesto, vegan cheese, vegan chorizo, cherry tomatoes, basil, garlic, mushrooms, roasted red peppers, arugula, and oregano). The pizza was crisp and delicious. Since the pizzas are customizable, I am surprised that their salads are not. They only have Caesar salad to pick from and it already has dressing on it. By the time I returned to work to eat it, it was soggy (but still okay to eat). Overall I would return here, there 1/2 salad 1/2 pizza combo makes a great, balanced lunch! read more

I created my own pizza but beware! Don't go too crazy with the toppings! Blaze offers a "any and all toppings" create your own pizza for a really good price. Just don't get too greedy with the toppings haha! The pizzas are flash cooked in their pizza oven for about 5-10 min and it's just enough to cook the crust. Unfortunately, my toppings came out a bit uncooked so it turned out to be more of a salad on top of my pizza. But I'll be back to try another pizza creation! read more

It's Cici's with better branding. The crust had a strange texture and off taste. For being wood fired, it had no crispness and none of the great char. Because the veggies sat in vats of water, my pizza had pools of water that sat on top and made it soggy after 5 minutes. The chicken was as bland as could be. My salad had large chunks of yellow iceberg and the Greek dressing was flavorless oil with no herbs. To top it off, the restaurant was dirty, both behind the counter and in the seating area. You could tell an attempt at cleaning had been made, just poorly done. That's probably the best summary of Blaze as a whole: great idea, poor execution. read more

Pizza is soooo GOOD! I love the different crust options and how customizable their menu is. I am very particular with the amount of sauce and cheese I like on my pizza and having it made right in front of me allows me to control the portions. I'm often disappointed at other places because even though I order "light cheese" it is almost always too much. Also, they will change their gloves if asked and use a clean pie cutter if requested. To be fair, I have eaten here 3 times and enjoyed it the two other times. I think you will enjoy your pizza to the extent you made good decisions and added toppings you like! My big issue today is the staff service. They messed up my pizza while tossing it around in the pizza oven, so that the cheese and toppings slid off one side of the pizza. It was also not done well on the bottom and there was an odd chunk missing. I offered to just take it and eat as it was, but then found it just too messy and impossible to eat. It would have been fine if they just offered to remake it the way I had it, but she asked if I could just get back in line (it was long!) and make it again. What?! If it were me, I would have made it easier on the customer in as short amount of time possible without making them work harder for it. I asked if I could instead write down the toppings I wanted without getting in line. Super awesome! We came here on Pi day for $3.14 BYO pizzas and I had such a blast! I'm so happy that Pi day lured me into finally trying Blaze because I can't wait to go back. We had about a 35 minute wait outside which was totally understandable and expected with the Pi day deal happening. Once we got to the counter, the first employee was super friendly and nice and after telling her it was our first time, she gave us a run down of how things worked. I got the regular crust with pesto and a ton of veggies and it was super yum! I also really enjoyed the variety of soft drinks such as fancy sodas and agua fresca. One star for the inexcusable service I got today. I ordered my pizza with a pesto DRIZZLE and the first time it came so oversaturated with pesto and grease that I SAW IT DRIP out the box and locked my boyfriend out the car until we plugged the leak. I had thought the girl knew what she was doing as she struggled to splat the pesto onto the pizza, but it was an oily mess and far more than the simple drizzle I asked for. The pizza was heavy as ever, greasy as ever, and sliding apart when I looked at home. We got it remade and I clarified that I would like the pesto baked on top with less pesto. I guess the girl thought it'd be smart to put the pesto under the cheese which is definitely not what I asked for, but whatever. When I picked up the box and it felt like it weighed about 10 pounds, I knew it was wrong. I took a look at the greasy mess in disguise, lost my appetite, and left. I have visited the Morrisville Blaze location a few times and thought the pizza was excellent so I was thrilled that there is a location in Durham now. I went around 6:00 on a weekend night and the place was crazy busy. I ordered the red vine pizza and got it to go. It took a while to get through the line, but that may have been due to how busy they are and the fact that the people in front of me didn't know how the process worked (It's not that hard people). I also think getting their pizza to go is not the best idea since it is so thin it doesn't stay hot for more than a few minutes. Despite the pizza being lukewarm when I ate it, I still thought it tasted good. I would rate Blaze as the best pizza chain between them, Uncle Maddios and Pieology. I would like to visit this location again, but next time I will eat in and go when they aren't quite as busy. read more

As a vegan, I am usually happy to come here for the pizzas which offer dairy free cheese and vegan chorizo for protein. Tonight I was disappointed to find pink pieces of animal parts floating around in the water that the basil soaks in. I told the manager about it and she told me that "always happens", even though I have been here many times and have never seen that. She also told me that they "couldn't guarantee anything", and that "they are not an allergy free establishment". She did nothing to correct the situation. Mixed experience. Ordered online which was pretty straight forward and easy to navigate as a first-timer. Walked over from the Spring Hill Suites to pick up the order, which was super convenient. Walked in and it was pretty empty; one couple sitting at a booth eating, one person sitting at another table waiting for their order, and a couple standing at the pickup area getting their pizza which was just coming out. I'm standing at the register, there are 4 people behind the counter. No one says anything to me. No greeting, not even eye contact. This is my first experience at a Blaze and all the good hype, including the Lebron mention, faded at this point. I finally initiate a conversation with the closest employee who let's me know that my two pizzas were already out and boxed but he was waiting for the side salad. Eventually, got the full order but no interaction from the staff, no sorry you had to wait, nothing. As for the pizza, I had a pepperoni with the traditional crust. It was pretty good, in my mind, the crust was the star of the show complimented by the sauce and then the pepperoni. On the lighter side but not too light. My son had the Blaze Chicken special pizza which we would not do again. The Ceaser salad, that we were waiting for, was worth the wait, crisp romaine, balanced dressing (on the side), and plenty of shaved parmesan. I'll give them another try when in the area but this experience could have been much better if the staff was more engaging and had some positive energy. read more

There were two stand outs, a young lady with red hair and a young man changing out salads and building pizzas. The rest of the crew had an almost hypnotized robotic look in their eyes. They exhaled frustration as they churned out burnt pizza after burnt pizza. Two people in front of me brought back charred simple pies and my daughter asked for hers to be redone after a young man tried to scrape the burnt parts off. We still left with an overdone pie but we live two hours away and needed to get home. Truly disappointed. We bragged to my brother about Blaze. He's a chef and hard to impress. Our first time eating here after hearing so much about this new spot! The line was very long when we went in but it moved very quickly!! Everything is a la carte from salads to pizza! You have the option of putting any and all types of toppings on your made-to-order pizza all for one price!
