White pizza with baby bella and truffle oil
Monica W.

We stumbled upon this food truck at a local brewery and decided to give it a try, we are glad we did! We ordered the 'White' which had bella mushrooms, truffle oil and ricotta cheese. The crust is on the thinner size but not cracker like crust. They cook in a pizza oven affixed tot he back of the truck but thankfully it wasn't burnt on the edges (like some 'pizza oven' places we have been). My husband definitely would like to try it again and get one of their pizzas with meat on it.. I'll probably stick with the White again :)

Fantastic fast fresh fired up pizza! I'd never heard of this food truck until Wednesday, when I heard that it was coming near my office yesterday. 11:30am to 1:30pm. There was a mad dash from the office over to the parking lot where it was resting since we wanted to beat the rush. We all arrived just before noon and ordered our personal pizzas. I ordered the pepperoni with hot honey. It was amazing! The crust was thin and crunchy, but flavorful and there was just the right amount of sauce with a sprinkling of parmesan. My friend and I traded so I could try a slice of his Sweet Italians sausage. I hate half my pizza and saved the rest for today. Can't wait to experience it all over again! We were impressed with these guys who were taking orders, firing up pizzas in a mobile beautifully tiled pizza oven, and then getting them out to us in less than 20 minutes. Highly recommend Flirting with Fire!

the inside of a food truck

As you may already know if you've read my other reviews, pizza is one of my favorite foods! Therefore, I was really excited to try Flirting with Fire as they were the food truck of the day at my work. I read over their menu prior to stopping by the truck and was a bit surprised by their prices. Although I know food truck prices tend to be higher (which is fine), the prices averaged around $12-$13 for all menu items. I was hoping this meant that the pizzas were decently sized. When I got down to the truck, I noticed that the prices on the menu on their truck were higher than those on the menu they had provided to our front desk staff. Strange. (Ex., the menu given to our staff noted the pepperoni pizza was $11 and "Mike's Hot Honey" was $0.50. On the truck, the pizza was $12 and the honey was $0.75. Hmm...) Regardless, a few colleagues and I ordered pizzas from the truck and were surprised at the service we received from the female employee working the window. She was not very friendly at all and seemed aggravated while taking orders, taking payment, and calling names for people to pick up their food. This was a consistent comment made by quite a few people waiting by the truck for their food. Maybe she was having a bad day; but, it definitely impacted their customers' opinions of their overall service. While waiting, I was observing the truck. I have never seen a "wood fired" grill on a food truck; so, it was pretty neat to see their gas grill attached to the trailer. Also, it was nice to see their sanitary training certificates posted in the windows. After about 8-10 minutes, I received my pizza. It looked to be decently sized; however, the crust was so, so thin and soggy. The cheese didn't fully cover the slices, either. Overall, there wasn't much flavor to the pizza outside of the pepperonis. I was really disappointed - especially for a $12 mini pizza. As a result of the service and taste/quality of the food, I was not truly satisfied with my experience at this food truck. Definitely a bummer!

At the window of the food truck, making yummy pizzas! Check out their stove!

I love the hot honey that is an optional add when you order the pizza.

We have many breweries closer to home but we drive 30 minutes out of our way for the pizza. I always tip them well even though they don't serve you. Today when I went to pick up our pizza, one of the staff members was rude and snarky towards me. I don't driver 30 minutes out of my way for that. I will patronize a local business that's closer to me next time.

I've been to the Raleigh location as well, check out the review if you want to know more. Panysaurus over all is a cool place (either location) but they have drastically different vibes - which in my book is a good thing. The Durham location brings you an awesome patio scene! The bar itself is a bit small but their indoor/outdoor approach makes it seem huge. The patio is two floors, both covered, one just off the bar and the other right about that which has a few TVs for those interested. Off of the patio is a nice size "beer garden" sitting area complete with picnic tables and a great view. If you are looking for chill family friendly patio vibes this is the place to be! I really love Ponysaurus beer, their pilsner is nice but their kolsch is my favorite. If you've been to the Raleigh location, the Durham menus is not the same. Yes they have pizza but it doesn't seem to have the same options - still good though. We went with a hankering for the hummus we got at the Raleigh location, again the Durham location had hummus but a different variation. One thing that's consistent with both locations is the amount of pita that came with the hummus, there is nothing worse than getting a huge bowl of hummus and only a few pieces of hummus or chips. Both locations knocked it out of the park. Plenty of WARM pita for everyone. This location is somewhat self-service, the bartender obviously poured out beer and there is a cute window for picking up snacks but no table service.

They have both booths that are very comfortable and tables that can be pulled together for a group. I took advantage of a lunch special and had a meatball sandwich with salad. Yum! The sandwich could have used more sauce but the huge meatballs were wonderful. The salad was so much better than other places....real greens, tomato, cucumber and OLIVES! It was tossed with a super dressing. The service was excellent and both ladies that were working checked on me often. One of the ladies was a bad influence when she told me about the dessert choices. Everything is made in house except the gelato. I chose the cannoli cheesecake! Wow!!!!! It was awesome! Clean, comfortable, great food and prices. I have found a place I will be coming back to when in the area!
