I was really disappointed with my experience here. The service was extremely slow, and it seemed…read morelike our table was forgotten several times. We waited far too long for drink refills. What made it even more frustrating was that the restaurant wasn't busy at all there were only three tables occupied during our visit, so it wasn't a situation where the staff was overwhelmed. What appeared to be the owner spent much of the time engaged in conversation with another person instead of checking on customers or helping the staff. Meanwhile, no one checked on us after our food arrived, and it was difficult to get our server's attention for refills or the check. While the food was decent, the poor service overshadowed the entire meal. I understand every restaurant can have an off day, but with so few customers, I expected much better attention to the dining experience. Unfortunately, based on this visit, I won't be returning.

We paired it with a half pie (I love that option!) of STATE OF NIRVANA: BASIL PESTO, ROASTED CHICKEN, SPINACH, CARAMELIZED RED ONIONS, BLEU CHEESE, MOZZARELLA + an extra slice of cheese pizza, just because: it was the perfect portion for 2. Pie Pushers has all your original pizza toppings but a variety of specialty pizzas that I have to try sooner than later. They also offer daily specials, salads, appetizers, beer and wine.

ABSOLUTELY THE BEST PIE (Pizza) I've had in Durham !!!! Ordered a 1/2 Specialty (Dazz) and a whole Pepperoni + Mushroom + Black Olives. Both were so very Delicious, Tasty, and Scuptious! The Counter/Waitress was so very friendly and accommodating (which isn't a surprise in Durham), but she was so very "In Step" with my order + other things going on ! I'm definitely visiting Pie Pushers in the immediate future!!!!!

My wife remembered a…read morefoodie friend recommending this spot, especially for its wall of photos with famous visitors, so we decided to check it out. The restaurant sits on Franklin Street, right in the heart of Chapel Hill near UNC. It's a lively, walkable area filled with shops and restaurants. Parking can be a little tricky--we circled a few blocks before finding a gravel lot nearby (free after 6 p.m. and all day Sunday). Inside, the place had an old-school, authentic feel. The staff spoke Italian, which added to the vibe, and the red curved booths reminded me of classic pizza joints from my childhood. The menu is posted on the wall behind the counter, and you order before sitting down. We also noticed their most recent health score was a 99, which was reassuring. My wife ordered the chef's salad, and I went with the meat stromboli. Her salad was fresh, colorful, and much better than the iceberg lettuce you often get. She enjoyed it so much that she finished before my stromboli was ready. When mine came out, it was served on a pizza pan with a side of sauce--it looked and tasted great. It was also clear they do a strong takeout business, with lots of people picking up orders and the phone constantly ringing. Overall, the food was solid, the atmosphere memorable, and it felt like a local institution that's earned its recognition. Definitely worth a stop if you're in Chapel Hill.

Ran into Flirting with Fire at the Independence Day Block Party at Nickelpoint Brewery in Raleigh!…read moreI had already had lunch but I'm a sucker for good pizza and Flirting with Fire caught my attention. Large food truck type trailers hauling a huge, brick oven pizza in back will do that to me... So it was time for a snack, I ordered up a pepperoni with honey drizzle (I think about $13) which came out pretty quick (5 to 6 mins). Flirting with Fire does a Neapolitan style pie, nicely charred crust with white splotches of mozz, nice! The crust is nicely raised, crisp and chewy. Decent sauce base and good cheese, I probably should have done a straight margherita to get all the flavor though. But I can tell you that Flirting with Fire does a very good neapolitan and is probably the best za you'll get from a food truck right now. So thanks Flirting with Fire! It must be a lot of work hauling that pizza oven round the Triangle but I can tell you that it's worth it for your happy pizza customers...

My friends and I decided to split two pies (the pizzas range from $12-$14 each): (1) White sauce, cherry tomatoes, mozzarella, arugula with a swirl of honey (2) Basil pesto, mozzarella and cherry tomatoes I personally think that the pies with more than one ingredient need a name. Both of these tasted fantastic (I preferred the white over the basil), I wish they both contained more cherry tomatoes though. I definitely recommend that you try this food truck!

Great place in the heart of Downtown Durham to grab pizza and some other quick bites…read more A friend and I were doing a little bar-hopping in Durham, and I saw someone with a pizza box and immediately started craving pizza. I'm not from Durham, so I'm not as familiar with all of the places downtown, but my friend is a Durham native and told me Pie Pushers was good. She's also particular when it comes to food, so if she says something is good, then I fully trust her. The restaurant is on the 2nd floor, but there's an elevator, so it's accessible. You go to the counter to order your food and then receive a number so your order can be delivered to you. It's not a large place, but there are several seats and tables to eat at. I know they have a lot of takeout orders as well. I kept it simple with just a slice of pepperoni, and it was really good! We ended up getting there late in the evening, so it wasn't crowded. We received fresh slices so there was a short wait, but it was worth it. I'm not sure about parking because we were walking around downtown, but it's probably comparable to most parking in downtown. I will definitely be back when I return to the area! I love a good slice!

Tasty pizza, but pretty $$$ for what you get…read more We came here for a late lunch. My husband got the lunch special, which was half a margherita pizza plus a salad for $10. If you add a topping, you pay the full upcharge, even though it's just half a pizza (though maybe they put a whole pizza's worth on half?). I got the calamari, thinking that for a $15 app, it could just be my lunch. Alas, the portion was quite small (see photo; several of the fried bits were fried pepper, not even squid), and it was just okay. Some pieces were pretty rubbery. I also tried a bit of my husband's pizza. The crust is lovely, and the sauce was very flavorful and complex. Service was friendly but a bit lacking. They forgot to bring out my husband's salad until after his pizza came out, and when we were done, I had to go find a waitperson to get our check. Also when I googled up the lunch special price to double-check, I learned it's also supposed to come with a drink, which I guess they forgot to tell us or offer us. It was nice to sit outside and enjoy the spring weather. If a friend suggested meeting up here to grab a drink and share a pizza, I'd say sure! But I wouldn't waste my money on the calamari again.

The only reason for 4/5 stars is due to the fact that the calamari dish seemed to be about 89% cherry peppers and 11% calamari. Otherwise we will definitely be back to try more items
