I had the best chicken cacciatore ever last evening evening at Capp's. I'm not the only who knows about it, as last time they made it, they were sold out two days later--that's how good it is!!! I've made the dish before and the prep work is very labor intensive; browning chicken, chopping all the veggies, making the sauce. It was sheer perfection, chicken so tender, falling off the bone, in a fabulous sauce, served over home made bow tie pasta. We are so lucky to have a restaurant of this high caliber so close by. O and by the way, the apple pie is not to be missed, like grandma used to make! I'm on a sugar fast, but always fall off the wagon when apple pie is on the menu, I have not tasted a better apple pie in all the world and I have tasted a lot! My son and his wife took us for Capp's Pizza yesterday Saturday October 21, 2023 and we ordered the Cheese Pie 16 inch...when I tell you... THE BEST, MOST DELICIOUS PIZZA in the entire state of NC. Decided to stay close to home tonight. Had the Shrimp Casino minus the bacon for Lent. Fresh NC Shrimp were very good. A couple cold Rolling Rocks and a Riesling also hit the spot. Wish the beer was green. Service was also very good. Only call out would be a bit pricey for pizza. read more

Well worth the few minutes it takes to drive halfway from Chapel Hill to Pittsboro. The pizza reminds me a great deal of that from the now-closed Panzanella in Carrboro. Cooked in a wood fire stove, the crust is both crispy and chewy. The toppings are excellent but it is the cheese that reminds me of Panzanella. The cannoli was the best I've had in the area and the honey cake is outstanding. They serve wine and a very nice selection of craft beers. There is an awning-covered patio for nice weather. The pizza is also quite similar to Mercato pizza in Carrboro and these are now my two favorite pizza places around Chapel Hill. Capp's is now the less crowded of the two and the parking situation is much better there, too, but I expect that to even out once word gets out. read more

This review is for the physical restaurant located in Briar Chapel. First off, the pizza is good, but there are a lot of problems other than that. I've had their pizza off of the truck and have always liked it as well, when I saw they were opening a restaurant I was excited with a caveat: "I hope they lower the price, or increase the size of the pizza" I'm sad to say that neither has occurred. I did ask, and they said that the size of the dough had increased by 20g, which is so small, I wouldn't have even mentioned it. It is not feasible for a family of four to spent $40-$50 on just the pizza alone. Moving on, the service was atrocious. It took FOREVER to order, nobody ever checked on us during our entire meal. Wine was awful. We ordered a glass of the $9 red, which was tiny, and tasted corked. We traded it for the other red they had by the glass ($7) and it was just not a good wine. They should really focus on getting some decent by the glass wines in there, as well as extending the selection of beers. All in all, I WANT to love this place, but I honestly don't think we will be returning unless they can remedy some of these problems. read more

NB: This review is for Capp's new restaurant that opened recently in Briar Chapel, just south of Chapel Hill. I lived in Italy for more than eight years, and am constantly comparing U.S. pizza to the real thing. So far, I've been disappointed. Well, no more. Folks, Capp's pizza is the best, most authentic pizza I have had outside of Italy, bar none. In fact, Capp's can go head to head with Italy's best. First of all, the crust is perfect - thin and chewy with nicely blackened edges. The tomato sauce is fresh and spread thin. And the cheese -- while I don't think it's imported mozzarella di bufala -- is the best I've had on an American pizza. Ignore that earlier review. Sure, they just opened and are still working out a few kinks, so it may take a few extra minutes to get your pizza. But the service is friendly, the staff are really hustling, and it is absolutely worth the wait. Bravo, Capp's! read more

This review is for the Capp's brick and mortar location at Briar Chapel. We stopped by on Friday for lunch. This was just a week after they opened. The owner (as we learned later) was our server. We ordered two pizzas, an eggplant and an Italian sausage. Both were very good. The Italian sausage is made in house. The owners are very nice. I highly recommend them. If I could give 0 stars I would. Terrible place. Food wasn't even good and the service took forever with no apologies. I understand a new place still learning but we waiting 25 minutes to get water. Love trying new places and supporting small business but I wouldn't return here. read more

Been going back about once a week. Still great food, bar has improved. It is a good place to bring out of town guests to as well.
