We came here while on the hunt for banana flavoured treats. We got the banana bread doughnut. Absolutely no banana flavour from it at all, just a vanilla cake doughnut. I even tried just a bit of the actual doughnut without the ganache and it had no flavour at all. The chocolate ganache was decent but the doughnut was dry and had an oily taste and smell. I didnt get to enjoy a donut (sad day) since no GF options. However, they have so many vegan ones to choose from! My friends enjoyed their donut options (good, but not the best ever), and I did enjoy my protein mango tea drink. Worth a pop in if youre close or craving donuts, but not a must do for Boston. I'm really here to review the chicken Caesar wrap from Sally's sandwiches, that operates as a part of Blackbird Donuts. The donuts are just okay for me, not my go-to in Boston: 3/5. However, I'd say the chicken wraps are maybe like a 4.5/5. The wrap was so good! The chicken was crispy, the croutons were great, it was well-dressed. Honestly, one of my favorite Caesar wraps in Boston. I also got their buffalo sauce on the side and it was *chefs kiss*. I tried the iced salted toffee latte as well, and it was really good for like the first 1/4 of the drink. However, it got to be too sweet for me, but that's a personal preference. I was in search of a Boston Cream Pie donut and after some research online was told that Blackbird donuts was a place to try. It definitely did not disappoint and lived up to it's hype. The space itself was an interesting little shop. In addition to donuts, pastries, coffee and the usual assortment of food items that you would find at a donut shop, they also had rotisserie chicken. I didn't try the chicken but was curious to try it next time around. The service was fairly quick and efficient. As for the Boston Cream Donut I got it. It was very tasty. Came here with my daughter on. Tuesday morning and enjoyed the cozy atmosphere and ease of ordering. We wanted to try a yummy artisan donut so my daughter went with their brioche chocolate sprinkles donut and I went with the brioche Boston Cream donut. These donuts were like no other. Donuts are delicious and flavorful. Breakfast sandwich was much worse than I thought it would be: I like that they added aioli, but not at the expense of the bread. Sort of soggy. Blackbird, while small, was surprisingly cute. I stopped in quickly in need of a quick bite for lunch and grabbed their chicken Caesar wrap, which was quite a good size. The wrap was delicious- there was crunchy and crispy chicken, lettuce, cheese, and Caesar dressing, all warmed up to make one of the better chicken Caesar wraps I had in Boston! I've had positive experiences at their other location in Fenway, so when I was in the South End, my friends and I decided to try their donuts. Just like before, their vegan donuts did not disappoint. They aren't labeled on the menu, so you have to ask a staff member what flavors are vegan. There were three when I went: strawberry rhubarb, strawberry sprinkle, and animal cracker. The texture reminded me greatly of an Apple cider donut, but needed to be paired with a coffee. They also have sandwiches/wraps available through Sally's Sandwiches and the Falafel Wrap was truly a surprising favorite of ours - large portion but the falafel was soft (as opposed to more cornmeal in texture) and the feta and spicy sauce were top notch! The wrap itself was very delicious too with a nice chew and really complimented the ingredients of the wrap. I've been wanting to come here for years and I finally did last week. Sadly, I was greatly disappointed. I came here and wasn't sure what to order and the cashier gave generic recommendations. I ended up ordering the Ice Cream Cake Bismarck. The donut tasted old and dry and barely had any chocolate mousse inside. I was very put off by the taste that I couldn't even finish it and threw it in the trash. The donut looked aesthetically good, but the quality wasn't there. It was $4 and definitely wasn't worth it. I went to an aerial yoga class next door and came back to the car to a blueberry lemonade and lavender matcha latte. The lemonade was extremely tart and was a bit difficult to drink because it tasted like eating a lemon. Trying to avoid donut chains, I'm always on the lookout for local donut places. Blackbird popped up as he closest to my hotel. Without doing much research into the place, i went straight down there. Well, as soon as I started reading the menu, I was instantly disappointed. These are brioche donuts, which I am not a fan of. But, I was already there and ordered 2. I went with the salted toffee and the dole whip. So, yeah, brioche just doesn't do it for me. I should have went with their basic cake donut, which I think they have 2 or 3, looking after the fact. Got the apple butter doughnut. It was actually excellent, and I liked it the more I got into it. The insides were appropriately creamy with a very good consistency. The dough itself seemed odd at first - as if soft until you bit completely into the dough, at which point it seemed a little tougher. It's hard to explain. Went to the Blackbird doughnuts on Tremont St today, got a donzen donuts. There was an older man with a beard that was helping us. He charged us $104.00 for a dozen donuts, he was supposed to only charge $45.00 After we told him the mistake, he just called for someone else to help us then left and didn't want to deal with us anymore. After the other woman helped us with getting a refund, when we opened the box of donuts, it had looked like he just threw then in there and didn't take the time to make sure they looked good in the box, one of the donuts was being squished by a part of the box he had messily just pressed down onto the donuts instead of making sure that none of the donuts were being damaged by parts of the box. The BCB is a brioche doughnut filled with vanilla pastry cream topped with and topped with the signature chocolate glaze. My son wanted a doughnut with Fruity Pebbles?! Some BS flavor that they didn't offer, for him I chose the simple Chocolate Old Fashioned, A chocolate cake base with vanilla glaze. I ordered a total of 6 doughnuts, kind of expensive when you're going to someone's house. My Boston Creme? Yeah, they got it down. The Creme was silky and the chocolate topping was a high end chocolate. This was a nice rendition from what I've been enjoying for decades. My friends and I were looking for a breakfast spot in Boston nearby where we stayed and we stumbled upon Blackbird Donuts. I must say, the creativity at Blackbird Donuts is what drew me to give this place a try. I really enjoyed the different and unique flavors they offered. My favorite, and so I see everyone else's favorite, is the Everything Donut. I wasn't expecting much when I had it, but the mixture of oily from the donut, creamy from the cream cheese, and flavors from the everything seasoning was just out of bounds. If I'm being honest, it's better than the bagel. I also got the Boston creme (in Boston!), Vanilla glazed, and Pomegranate Curd Bismarck. Those were also very good! The coffee was not very strong and too watery. All in all, I recommend coming here to try the Everything Donut and maybe some of their other signature donuts. I think I first heard of Blackbird on a Facebook post by Thrillist or Foodbest or one of those, highlighting in particular...their everything bagel doughnut. Now there are no shortage of good doughnut shops right here in NYC, so I hadn't really intended on 'wasting' a visit to a doughnut place in Boston (gimme some more cannolis!).
