    ICED SALTED TOFFEE LATTE
    Casey A.

I'm really here to review the chicken Caesar wrap from Sally's sandwiches, that operates as a part of Blackbird Donuts. The donuts are just okay for me, not my go-to in Boston: 3/5. However, I'd say the chicken wraps are maybe like a 4.5/5. The wrap was so good! The chicken was crispy, the croutons were great, it was well-dressed. Honestly, one of my favorite Caesar wraps in Boston. I also got their buffalo sauce on the side and it was *chefs kiss*. I tried the iced salted toffee latte as well, and it was really good for like the first 1/4 of the drink. However, it got to be too sweet for me, but that's a personal preference. I would definitely come back for the wrap!

I was in search of a Boston Cream Pie donut and after some research online was told that Blackbird donuts was a place to try. It definitely did not disappoint and lived up to it's hype. The space itself was an interesting little shop. In addition to donuts, pastries, coffee and the usual assortment of food items that you would find at a donut shop, they also had rotisserie chicken. I didn't try the chicken but was curious to try it next time around. The service was fairly quick and efficient. As for the Boston Cream Donut I got it. It was very tasty. The chocolate was better quality than the chocolate on other donut places. I would recommend giving Blackbird Doughnuts a try if you're in the area.

Donuts are delicious and flavorful. Breakfast sandwich was much worse than I thought it would be: I like that they added aioli, but not at the expense of the bread. Sort of soggy. Egg got lost in the mix, the giant potato tater tot thing (delicious) was the only thing with any crunch. Good enough to eat but I will not be ordering this again. I will 100% be back for the donuts-- I'm still hopeful enough about this place being good I'll likely order a different sandwich in the future.

    CLASSIC CHICKEN CAESAR WRAP

Blackbird, while small, was surprisingly cute. I stopped in quickly in need of a quick bite for lunch and grabbed their chicken Caesar wrap, which was quite a good size. The wrap was delicious- there was crunchy and crispy chicken, lettuce, cheese, and Caesar dressing, all warmed up to make one of the better chicken Caesar wraps I had in Boston! While relatively simple, I found the meal to be exactly what I needed. I hope to stop in soon to try some of their drinks.

Loved the Honey & Blackberry donut - the brioche donut was chewy and so soft, and the honey butter glaze was divine! Also got the Blackbird donut, which was cakier with a subtle sweetness. The texture reminded me greatly of an Apple cider donut, but needed to be paired with a coffee. They also have sandwiches/wraps available through Sally's Sandwiches and the Falafel Wrap was truly a surprising favorite of ours - large portion but the falafel was soft (as opposed to more cornmeal in texture) and the feta and spicy sauce were top notch! The wrap itself was very delicious too with a nice chew and really complimented the ingredients of the wrap. Lots of people came by to grab donuts or munchkins to go and even coffees/teas - would highly recommend for a sweet or savory treat!

After a solid morning run, I decided to try Blackbird. The Boston cream donut was excellent but what was truly remarkable was their everything bagel/donut hybrid creation. It was excellent and I highly recommend you give it a try! Really unique and I don't think I've come across another bakery or donut shop that produces something similar to this.

    Raspberry with marshmallow filling

So so delicious. This is a super small shop with a variety of donuts and coffee. We chose the raspberry marshmallow one. My husband thought it was too sweet, but that didn't keep him from eating his half! I loved the tart raspberry taste paired with the sweet marshmallow. I'd be happy to eat one of these every day of my life. The service was quick with smiles.

I've been wanting to come here for years and I finally did last week. Sadly, I was greatly disappointed. I came here and wasn't sure what to order and the cashier gave generic recommendations. I ended up ordering the Ice Cream Cake Bismarck. The donut tasted old and dry and barely had any chocolate mousse inside. I was very put off by the taste that I couldn't even finish it and threw it in the trash. The donut looked aesthetically good, but the quality wasn't there. It was $4 and definitely wasn't worth it. Of note, this store is small and is mostly meant for takeout. There are no seats, but there is a small bar area to stand by the door. They also have breakfast items and coffee.

    Lemonade & Lavender Matcha Latte
    Lizzie Y.

I went to an aerial yoga class next door and came back to the car to a blueberry lemonade and lavender matcha latte. The lemonade was extremely tart and was a bit difficult to drink because it tasted like eating a lemon. The lavender matcha was all right, it was just watered down and lacked matcha flavor.

Trying to avoid donut chains, I'm always on the lookout for local donut places. Blackbird popped up as he closest to my hotel. Without doing much research into the place, i went straight down there. Well, as soon as I started reading the menu, I was instantly disappointed. These are brioche donuts, which I am not a fan of. But, I was already there and ordered 2. I went with the salted toffee and the dole whip. So, yeah, brioche just doesn't do it for me. I should have went with their basic cake donut, which I think they have 2 or 3, looking after the fact. There is a Sally's Sandwiches at this location. Maybe I should have went with one of those. On a more positive note, it seemed as if a new employee was being trained. I overheard one of the employees helping with that and he was doing a good job explaining things.

The too heavy dough! Strangest dough ever! Not a fan.

There was a line, but it moved quickly - we waited about 10 minutes total. We tried several things: pistachio, limoncello, pecan caramel cannoli and the pecan caramel cheesecake. I didn't even think I liked cannoli at all based on a previous experience, but WOW - these changed my perspective. They were sweet without being overwhelming. The cheesecake was delicious as well. Heads up, as other reviews have mentioned, it's cash only. Luckily, my mom is old school and always carries cash with her. I wish I lived in Boston - I'd love to come back to try their other offerings.

I guess I lucked out because when I went (Wednesday, around 3 PM), there was virtually no line. I heard it can get super busy, so beware. This place is cash only, and the service is really straight-to-the-point. I guess they just want people in and out quickly. There's not really anywhere you can sit, so definitely just get what you want and go. The bakery itself is kept very simple and minimal. Sweets are displayed behind the glass, and there are plenty of signs along the wall that display what they have to offer. There were a lot of different goodies, but I noticed that people really only ordered the cannolis. I got a singular chocolate chip cannoli, and I think it really threw the person helping me off that I only got one to try. Pastries are packaged in a nice blue box and securely tied with a long string. The cannoli itself tasted pretty nice, but I wish there were more chocolate chips other than the ones that coated the areas of visible filling. I liked that the shell was crunchy and flaky. I can't say much because this was my first time having a cannoli, so I have no point of comparison. Not sure if I can eat a lot of it in one sitting.

The ice cream itself was sooo good. I got my usual: soft serve twist with rainbow sprinkles in a waffle cone. The cone was so fresh and flavorful, the rainbow sprinkles also tested fresh (I love when the sprinkles have their own distinct taste. That's how you know they're fresh), and the soft serve was cold and creamy. The dream. My friend got the cookie dough hard ice cream in a waffle cone and she really liked it too. The ordering/waiting lines were wild. Idk if it was an off-night when we went, but there were at least 15 people standing around waiting for their ice cream while we were in line ordering. Then it came our time to wait and it took 12 minutes just to get these 2 cones out. The kitchen was closed by the time we were there too, so no one was waiting on food.
