I was able to spend a few hours in Boston last week for the first time in over 6 years, so I was very interested in checking out some of the new local shops around the Quincey Market area. We got pretty lucky while roaming around and stumbled across what looks to be a new food hall that features a cool looking little ice cream shop called Crescent Ridge. Was I hungry? not really. Did I need ice cream? not at all. Did I order some since I probably won't be back for years? You betcha! I ended up ordering a two scoop cone with some form of cookie monster style ice cream as well as a scoop of double chocolate (or something like that). I was expecting two regular size scoops, but no, this cone was massive and dripping all over my hand (luckily, they offered a little bowl in case it melted to much) and I went to work on this thing. Both of the ice cream flavours were super rich, tasty, and really hit the spot (not of hunger, but of being cold) on a hot and humid New England day. Overall, Crescent Ridge is in the perfect location for grabbing some desert after eating at the food hall. The prices were reasonable, the kids working were great, and the ice cream gets a big thumbs up. read more

Wanted to love it but just didn't. Crescent ridge is located in the public market which is really nice because you can sit down or walk around with your ice cream. The service was great! The staff is more than willing to provide you with generous samples. I tried the campfire s'mores and the coffee Oreo. I ended up getting the coffee Oreo because I liked the flavor more, but note that it doesn't really have a coffee flavor. I'd say it was more chocolatey Oreo. I liked it, it just wasn't what I expected with the name. The prices seem high until you actually get the ice cream. For reference I got the smallest size (tot) and it was still difficult to finish by myself. I didn't LOVE the ice cream. It's more of a me thing, texture wise it just wasn't creamy enough. I'm glad I tried it and I understand why people like this place so much, it's just not for me. read more

This was the location in Hay Market. I love Crescent Ridge and I'm always excited to get it in the city. You definately get your money's worth at this establishment. I always get a kids size as the servings are large! The ice cream is delicious and there are many flavors to choose from. The staff are always friendly. read more

Didn't have huge expectations for this place, but we were pleasantly surprised by the portion size and overall taste/consistency of the ice cream. Came here for dessert on a Wednesday evening and there was no line - super quick. Service was super friendly and kind enough to let us try as many flavors as we liked. We settled on two flavors and got plenty of both - huge cup and scoops. They don't skimp which I love! The space also had tons of seating so we ate quickly and left without any issue. They were also doing trivia in the same area which was cool. If we're ever in the area again, I would gladly stop by! read more

I saw Crescent Ridge featured on Somebody Feed Phil! Located in the Boston Public Market, a must visit location, we just had to try. Delicious ice cream, great portions and such a friendly staff! We tried a few different flavors but chose Orange Sherbert, Cherry Ridge Ripple, and another flavor I don't remember but it was delicious!! Definitely recommended. read more

Crescent Ridge was my favorite stop of the entire Boston trip. If you are already in the area, I would absolutely recommend making a visit. The serving sizes were humongous, even when just asking for a sample, they gave us a full spoonful to try, which we more than appreciated. We got the s'mores ice cream, and it was incredible. The graham cracker pieces were the highlight and added the perfect texture and flavor. Great ice cream, great value, and a place I will definitely return to next time I'm in town. read more

Came here after a sunny day to get a refreshing treat. They have a nice big parking lot to park in. The service was very fast. I got the chocolate ripple which was light and sweet. The vanilla and chocolate were delicious and could not stop eating. I got my ice cream and ate at the benches they had looking over the fields. It was a great relaxing atmosphere. Some of the best ice cream I've had while traveling! Not many places can beat Graeter's (Cincinnati) but this comes close! I tried something out of the norm, campfire - which was marshmallow ice cream with graham cracker chunks and chocolate. SO GOOD. Not super sweet. The kids size was plenty for me and my toddler to share. I went at 3pm on a Tuesday and they were out of 8-10 flavors. A bummer but shows they are good! read more

Holy cow! I hardly ever give 5 stars but this place just blew me away with the flavors, customer service and sheer size of the thing. Their sign says 2x larger than you think and for sure. My "kiddie" cup was HUGE. I ended up taking it with me on a walk to the north end. The ice cream is hearty and creamy and hold its shape. Kiddie cup allow for two flavors, just to let you know. I settled on Graham central with black raspberry chocolate chip on top. It was amazing. The chunks of chocolate are BIG and graham central comes with chocolate covered honeycombs. Wow. read more

Sad to say rushed over here to get ice cream, had 14 minutes before they closed. Girl at the counter said she was closed, after discussing they close at 6pm she hesitatingly said yes, at this point my friend saw she wasn't happy about serving us, said no. So don't show up 15 minutes before closing bc they won't serve you. read more

Located inside Boston Public Market. I had a kiddie cup but should have gotten the smallest size. The ice cream is rich and creamy..It did not wow me but definitely a solid choice. The service was good by a girl but "you can leave a tip if you would like" comment was definitely unnecessary and awkward. read more

Way better than JP licks Taking off stars because: - their posted hours aren't always accurate - we've been burned before - flavors on the website don't always reflect what's available - turning customers away well before closing. I arrived at 7:30 when they're open until 8. There were 4 customers ahead of me. I wait my turn browsing the flavors. The server goes to assist the couple before me and tells me "they're closed and these are her last customers" and that she "put up a sign." The sign is at the far end of the display case next to a closed vendor that is out of eye site. I politely point out the time and tell her THEIR website says they're open until 8 and she tells me she needs time to clean up and close. Super poor service for one customer, it's not like I rolled up with a large group or family. read more

An ice cream stall located in Boston Public Market next to the Popover Lady and across from Union Square Donuts. Lots of flavors to choose from and 4 different sizes including tiny, kiddie, small, and large. I opted for a kiddie cone with strawberry and cotton candy. The service is quick and even if there is a small line it'll move fairly quickly. The ice cream here is rich, smooth, and creamy. They use real chunks of strawberry in the ice cream and the cotton candy flavor isn't too sweet or artificial. The size of the kiddie cone was huge and I wasn't sure if I'd be able to finish it, but lo and behold after some time it was all gone. This is a sweet, cold, refreshing treat to eat in the summertime. read more

The ice cream is creamy and flavorful. The portions are huge and the service is excellent. The only complaint is that there's always a line (which moves pretty quickly) and there's only bench seating that serves all of the nearby food vendors. So you might have to share a table if you're lucky enough to get a seat. It can get noisy as a result, but it's also great for people watching! read more

Location of the ice cream place is inside the Boston Public Market - near the open area with tables and chairs and closer to Congress Street. First off, there was a line for this place which means people would wait to get ice cream! We walked 18 minutes to try this Ice cream place and it was worth the walk. I felt bad for the lady behind us who ended up leaving :( Then another lady who worked in the area was behind us. When it was finally our turn, a man walked straight up and ordered chocolate milk!!! The lady behind me and I were talking about how rude that was to cut in line!! To the man who cut in line for his chocolate milk, how rude can you be to cut in front of 2 kids and 2 adults - 1 who works here and probably didn't have much of a break!! We let her go ahead of us bc we felt bad for her. We got the small mint cookies & cream & cookies & cream - it was really good!!! My daughter wanted the chocolate ice cream but they were out. EJ who was so nice and patient (btw, didn't have a breather after serving 6 people before us) said, he would see what he could do as he thinks the chocolate was too frozen, but luckily for us, it was ready! My daughter was in heaven!! She said, it taste like a milkshake. It was really good! EJ made our whole experience a very positive one. He was so nice and was appreciative we weren't rushing him or anything! My kids are used to waiting :) Thanks for your kind words. The ice cream is very good. Don't get tricked into buying a larger size; the smallest size is enough for any person. It's piled high. The service though. Ugh. The young woman taking orders is fine. The guys with dew rags are not focused on the job and not courteous. Probably should not be working with the public. They spend too much time talking amongst themselves and not paying attention to their customers. Mixed bag. read more

We walked 15 minutes under scorching 90 degrees heat because I desperately "needed" an ice cream and read the raving reviews. This is a little shop inside the very nice Boston Public Market. Service was good. As many mention, portions are huge. If you are here for quantity, you're in the right place. I ordered the two flavors "kid's cup" and even that one hugely exceeds maximum adult recommendations for sugar and calories. When a business goes all in on quantity, you know quality is not top of mind. We got three different flavors and all of them tasted almost the same: lots of sugar and butter, no flavor. The chocolate one was awful. Not even a hint of chocolate! My wife threw away after three tries. I threw away mine a bit later. I don't want to hate on a small business, but this one is only worth your time and money if you value quantity over quality. read more

I can guarantee I will be thinking about this ice cream for awhile. The cream was so thick and rich and smooth, but still more ice cream than gelato. All of the flavors I tried were good (we don't have black raspberry on the west coast but I wish we did!). I ended up going with the candy cane seasonal one and naturally eating half of my partner's. Also- huge shout out to the man working behind the counter. He clearly loves his job and he WILL hook you up with way too much delicious ice cream. Lately it seems every restaurant, every shop, is raising prices and giving out smaller portions. Crescent Ridge is a happy exception to this trend. Wow!! They weren't lying when they said generous portions. My friends and I have been dying for a classic ice cream in the North End and so happy we came across this place. After walking around Boston all day, my family and I stopped by Boston Public Market without any real thought beyond more exploring. I am now so thankful that we decided to get ice cream here bc EJ was absolutely incredible and the flavors we got were super delicious!!! Highly highly recommend Graham Central and Salted Caramel Pretzel - two flavors I've never tasted anywhere else. Plus, EJ really hooks it up for you and has some of the most amazing, genuine attitude that just translates as passion for his job - watching him scoop ice cream into the cup was like watching a sculptor work hahaha. i loved the ice cream! so good! everyone is really nice. i'm going to be honest, it took me so long to find this place.( it's inside the Boston Public Market building to the left). it's totally worth it though. i was craving something sweet after a long day of walking and i found this place. i highly recommend that you come here for ice cream. i got the small strawberry ice cream and the blackberry choco chunk and it was delicious. read more

Wow Wow Wow!! I come BPM all the time and I can't believe I've never tried this place until now. I guess I was going for those super popular places like Tosconini, JP licks, Emack and Bollio etc, but I somehow missed this tiny shop in BPM. Ice cream: 5/5! The vanilla ice cream is just soooo creamy and the aroma of fresh cream is so intense! I loved all the milk/cream taste unwrap in my mouth with every bite! Second the staff is sooooooo friendly! I got a pint, and he took each scoop and pressed soooo hard into the tub! so it was a solid pint of ice cream. It was not like some other hyped ice cream places where they just loosely pack ice cream into the tub. And he even put a parchment paper on top before putting the lid on, which prevented the ice cream from spill over or stick to the lid when you open it at home! Very impressed! They sell fresh milk, chocolate milk, and coffee flavored milk too. Def will come back to try their milk and some other sweets in their fridge. read more

I visited Crescent Ridge on a Saturday (2/8/2025) between 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM, and unfortunately, the service was extremely disappointing. From the moment I placed my order for milk, I was met with unprofessional and rude behavior from the staff. The two cashiers (both female) acted as if my presence was an inconvenience, especially when I asked for the restroom code. To make matters worse, a male employee threw a straw at me instead of simply handing it over and even made some degrading comments. On top of that, all three employees eyed me with disgust and couldn't even be bothered to offer basic assistance. The lack of professionalism and courtesy was shocking. This experience left a very negative impression, and I hope management takes action to improve customer service--because no customer should be treated this way. read more
