This was my dad's go-to ice cream place growing up, so we had to visit when we were in the area. My dad says they are known for their soft serve ice cream, but I went with their hard serve cookie dough. The hard serve ice cream is from Richardson's. If I am ever back in the area, I definitely would get the soft serve staple. Service was friendly and fast. The parking lot is not ideal with only a few spots but customers were in and out and there is always street parking. Support local and come on out!

Piece of hard plastic found in my ice cream

I have been going to this establishment for the past two years and never had an issue. The staff is friendly. The prices are affordable, and the ice cream is good so you can imagine my surprise when I was eating some ice cream and discovered the below piece of hard plastic. I've emailed them about it and no response. I've tried calling, no response. I was trying to avoid writing a public review but since I haven't received any response from them, I must write this review. Now I need to find a new Ice Cream store because finding this piece of plastic in my ice cream is truly disgusting.

If we ignore for a second how environmentally problematic styrofoam is, it truly is a miracle of science. Plus I miss the styrofoam Dunkin' cups. There's just one thing: when hard (ie not soft-serve) ice cream in a styrofoam citadel is attacked by a spoon, holes can easily form in its defenses. Really, a hole forming in the base of my cup is the only complaint I have, and even that may be, in part, due to how enthusiastically I devour ice cream! I ordered a kiddie sized Coffee Oreo. This stuff was great! The coffee notes were pronounced and noticeable, and the Oreo was in perfect amount and worked flawlessly with everything. The portion size was generous, especially for something "kiddie" sized, and the price of ~$5 seems very reasonable. The service works pretty efficiently. You order with the cashier, and another person scoops and tops your ice cream. It doesn't seem quite as lickety-split as Frozen Freddie's, but as someone not in the food service industry, I realize there may be reasons for this beyond my knowledge. Thus, Dairy Freeze seems to be a local cultural establishment; an iteration of the quintessential ice cream shop that kids, teens, and adults alike enjoy on summer days. While Freddie's is closer to me, I can absolutely see myself frequenting Dairy Freeze if it were the one closer to me.

Big scoops and wallet friendly, this Quincy institution brings together nostalgia and classic ice cream flavors. The ice cream is pretty standard - no crazy flavors and none of the extra creaminess you get from freshly made ice cream. However, it still hits the spot in a hot day when you want to hit up an old school ice cream stand. They have a few parking spaces in the front but it can be tough to navigate on a busy day.

We went here on a Saturday afternoon. The line was a little long. We got the soft serve and large cone which ended up being around $10. It was hard because you had to ask for the prices instead of readily seeing them. The ice cream was good, though there was no seating area to sit and enjoy it.

I've been coming here for years and I'm so excited that it has finally reopened for the season!! This place is a Quincy staple and it is so dangerously good. I can't count how many times I've ate ice cream from here but it's always so tasty and they always have great portions and generous toppings. My go to is the hard chocolate ice cream with chocolate sprinkles and walnuts. If you don't want ice cream they also have a food window where you can get burgers, fries, seafood and more. The staff are also very friendly and they get your ice cream to you quickly. I'm excited for another great year of delicious treats.

I love going to Dairy Freeze for my favorite Orange Sherbet Cone.... I have tried other flavors but Orange Sherbet is so tasty and creamy and when every I can go grab a cone I will. Sometimes the lines are super long but it's worth it... the service has always been great and a great location to pull over and grab a cone.

Ok, I only had a couple of soft serves, but five stars for: volume of ice cream (excellent!) and ambiance and nostalgia. Just a cool old ice cream stand. Can't go wrong. Not over-priced. Kick in good service as well. A hidden gem in the Boston area.

We also love their stuffed dates. For entrees, I had their Salmon which is always cooked to perfection. My husband's had their Steak Frites which he enjoyed very much. Dessert is always a tough choice since all of them are excellent but this time we went with their brownie sundae. After plenty of glasses of wine and some dirty martinis let's just say we didn't want to leave but it was getting late. If you have never been to Dotty's or their other restaurants I highly recommend checking them out! Cheers

Walked in and it wasn't busy, pretty dimly lit insides but I appreciated that there were plenty of tvs to watch the games. Plenty of seating by the window, bar top and booths. For starters it took forever for the waitress to bring waters, that I had to ask for. When we asked basic questions about the menu, Laura acted as if we were bothering her. She forgot to put in drinks and then go upset that the food I ordered wasn't up to par. Philly egg rolls - 4/10 they are definitely pre made, like weeks in advance most likely because they were so rubbery and hard to even bite. I mentioned this to the waitress and she demanded that they remake them vs me not wanting them anymore. (We ordered two orders of them and I only sent one back) Calamari 2/10 -it was soggy and then drenched in like a nasty marinara sauce. We made the waitress aware of this as well and she had it remade although I specifically stated I didn't want it, and would even still pay for it. Lamb burger 6/10 -the lamb was juicy but could use a little more flavor. The fries were soggy but okay BYO burger 3/10 - wasn't prepared as we asked, and it really just taste like ground beef and that's all. Even with the added toppings Cowboy burger 7/10 - wasn't bad but if it didn't have onion rings etc on it then it would taste bland like the other burger Lamb lollipops - 8/10 - these were good and had a decent amount of flavor to them. The jalapeños on the side are extremely spicy and good "Buffalo chicken" nachos 3/10 - there was barely any Buffalo chicken on the nachos, they seem to put the shredded cheese on the chips and then melt the so they're hard to pull apart. On top of tasting stale. I used the jalapeños from the lamb to eat with nachos to give them more flavor Salmon w/ jasmine rice 7.5/10- the salmon was a little dry but paired well with the jasmine rice. Could use a little sauce on the side but it was good Sweet heat wings 8/10 - these were really good and were cooked well. The sauce isn't too spicy and just the right amount of sweetness Drinks - Blueberry limeade 2/10 - taste like juice and had to go to the bar to ask for it because the waitress didn't put it in. When I went to ask the bartender if the drink was ready, since I couldn't find the waitress, she made the drink on the spot for me. Apple cider margarita - 5/10 wasn't horrible but the rim on the glass was excessive and mainly taste of cider.

The buffet was epic- perfectly cooked baked eggs, bacon hash, and scrambled eggs were all uniquely prepared and excellent. The buffet line continued with a lox platter, crudité, omelets to order, and a variety of up scale pastries. There was literally nothing on the buffet that was not noteworthy. We loved our drinks (bloody & cinnamon toast brunch) while the GM came over to chat. Our waitress Cheyanne was on point and helped us decide on our juice choices for the Bucket of Bubbles that rounded out our drink order. Grilled Prawns - the highlight of the night. They were huge, perfectly cooked, and the creamy sauce was delicious. I'd come back just for those. Octopus - overcooked and bland. Beef carpaccio - overloaded with Parmesan, which completely overpowered the beef, and it lacked flavors. Crab fried rice- oily and it was also lacked of flavors. We had to pour the steak sauce on top of the rice to make it flavorful. The biggest disappointment was the ribeye steaks. Out of 8 steaks, only one was cooked to the requested temperature. Most were served rare instead of medium, and while the inside was undercooked, the outside was overly charred, leaving a bitter taste. Service was attentive, valet was convenient, and the restaurant is beautiful. However, for the price, the food quality just wasn't there.

We ordered four items: rice rolls with curry fish balls, an egg custard lava bun, Ovaltine French toast, and the fried chicken bolo bao. The rice rolls were mild but fine, topped with enough cilantro and scallion to keep it interesting. The lava bun was hot, gooey, and did its job. (GOOD JOB, LAVA BUN!) The Ovaltine French toast? Eh, it aite. But here's the heartbreak: the chicken bolo bao. The chicken wasn't hot; it had that "sat around" feeling. And the bun? Just a dressed-up brioche, missing that true bo lo bao magic.
