I have reviewed the Tavern in the past, and was able to give them a higher rate. Been here countless times. Great hang out spot if you like Keno, music. However, their fried food items the last couple of times have not been good. Everything seems to be overdone. From the fish to fries & onion rings. Dark brown and no flavor. Wish they would correct this. Also, not sure of his name, but a real aggressive and not so friendly guy working the bar now. Makes me sad to have to write this review. read more

This is a local bar with a great craft beer selection. I ordered the Buffalo Chicken spring rolls and it was a generous portion for the price. The guy next to me at the bar ordered the prime rib and it looked like a good portion with a side potato and vegetables. read more

Had a great lunch experience here! Stopped for a casual lunch and it was exactly what we were looking for. The salads were amazing, french fries were hot and cooked perfectly, and the chili came with so many chips which was a fun surprise we didn't expect. Service was fast and friendly. It's a no frills type of spot. The music & TVs are loud but it's what you expect from a dive bar/tavern spot. We could have a conversation just fine, but wanted to throw it out there cause some people don't love it. I'd absolutely come back next time I'm in Quincy. read more

You don't find many places like this! The food is always great and the prices are just right. Try the Prime Rib Dinner weekends only after 4 pm. For 25 bucks you can't beat it! I can't believe that Hancock Tavern was not on Yelp's list! This definitely is a hidden gem obviously. The atmosphere is a pub feel. Everyone knew each other and were very nice & helpful. I came here after lunch hour. There's no server, only 1 bartender who was serving 10+ people. Food also took 20 minutes to be served. The bar area was spacious and there's many big screen TVs. I ordered black and blue burger with green tea martini. Burger was cooked medium well done and a bit chewy. The cocktail is far below my expectation. I was excited to check this place out as I had heard good things and the food photos looked worth trying especially with the reasonable prices. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly after seat yourself service in a cozy, warm lit atmosphere with good music and plenty of screens offering a variety of viewing options and the always fun, Keno, which had the slips been available on the table, I definitely would have played a few rounds. Our food arrived fairly quickly well within the 12 minute ticket window but I had ordered medium rare steak tips that were not a hint of pink and mostly chewy which was not quite the delicious dish pictured. The bbq sauce was watery and lacking flavor but the portions were big and the tater tots were cooked perfectly. Definitely will return to try the pizza next time. read more

Stopped by about 11:15pm to try to have a couple beers and grab one of the bar pizzas. I guess the kitchen was open till 12 admitted by the bartender, she had to argue with the cook to even put the order in as he was drinking at the end of the bar and didn't want to do it. I was disgusted with the back and forth said forget about it and walked across the street to the Chinese food place. Haven't been here to eat in years. Must have changed menu and cooks because the food was very good... Boneless Buffalo wings were good and plentiful. 1 order will more than satisfy a group of four. Wings had just a tad heat. Not too hot. Big basket of fried pickles also that were fresh and deep fried right with a nice aioli dipping sauce . A unique Prime rib sandwich with carmelized onions was tender and very flavorful with a side of Au Jus to dip in. I'm told it's the go to place on weekends for Prime rib and my friend wasn't disappointed. Barmaid was a hoot and super fast. She never stopped working behind the bar. The burgers. OMG! 12 ounces cooked to perfection on a brioche bun with lettuce, tomatoes and pickles. Hot crispy French fries and cold beer. This place is a slice of heaven! We hadn't visited here in a while and am SO happy we did today! I had the Turkey Club which was fabulous (real turkey off the bird) and steak fries (no one ever has these type of fries too much anymore) are really good! We got a basket of onion rings to start which is why we stopped there today (delicious) and my friend got a chicken Parmesan sandwich with the same steak fries. We skipped dessert and had a few cocktails instead which were excellent. The service and the air conditioning were excellent! : ) we will be back again soon...thank you read more

This may be the most underrated restaurant in Quincy. The sirloin steak tips were among the best I've had, and cooked to a perfect medium rare. And they were plentiful! The blonde b, whose face looks like a witch, who just started as a bartender and who bartended today on 10/20/23 erradicated our 5 years, usually three times a week, loyalty to this establishment. She was constantly on the phone and actually made up her own extra charges and then proceeded to argue with us. F her! If you are the owner reading this then fire that low life. The issue with her is more severe than this. Used to be a "good" place to for steak tips, service was "ok" but I'd say everything has gone down the urinal. Honestly, they should just make it a bar only, or cut back on the food to burgers only. Certainly not a destination spot for dinner. Sadly, the only Anglo business left in Wolly is not worth the visit. Virtually no parking. The crowd inside are professional drinkers. Old dudes bar... every time I come over to have a glass of draft beer, there are old dudes seating there from the morning and spending their 401k drinking bottled beer and playing mass lottery. Food is good, burgers are big a decent. Beers are only served in small glasses and in my opinion overpriced, except bud light for 3.5$ and Budweiser. Basically, this is a local sport bar, bar packed pretty much all the time with those dudes - not a fun place sometimes... However, they do have a good food, sometimes they do fish tacos, and they do them god damn good. I would literally go there and eat those tacos everyday if they had them on the menu daily.
