Nona's Ice Cream is delicious! I ended up getting ice cream twice while I was in town. I definitely preferred the Coffee Oreo over the Mint Chip. The Mint Chip was pretty boring and had large chunks of chocolate instead of smaller chocolate pieces throughout. My first visit on the Fourth of July was great. The service was kind, and I was really happy with my ice cream. Unfortunately, we had a different experience when we went back on Sunday. The service wasn't as friendly. The staff appeared to be mostly teenagers, and they seemed bothered to be serving customers. If you are in the Hingham area, Nona's is a must! read more

This ice cream was so good! Generous portions too. I LOVED the coffee heath and the orange mango ice. They are not shy with the sprinkles and it actually adds a nice crunch to the ice cream. Definitely one of, if not the best, ice cream I've had in MA. read more

Nona's homemade ice cream is my favorite on the south shore. They have a decent amount of flavor options but the flavors they do have are awesome. They are nice and creamy but also have lots of fillings with whatever the flavor is. The also home make the waffle cones and sometimes come out warm. I've had the coffee Oreo, white chocolate Oreo, and others and they are always amazing! read more

Some of the best ice cream I've ever had. Only thing holding me back from 5 stars is that sometimes the service and be hit or miss. Also the fact that they only carry peppermint at Christmas time is a sin. My grandma takes out a loan every December to get as many pints of it as humanly possible. read more

I have gone to Nonas my whole life, and tonight's experience was definitely shocking, to say the least. I am a bartender and server, and my first job was scooping ice cream. I get it when a customer comes in at 8:50 asking for a shake, it's annoying. We came in at exactly 8:30, which is my limit before any establishment closes. I really wanted a shake. The girls told me they already put away the blender. I try to be respectful to all food industry workers, but putting away shake equipment 30 minutes before would've gotten me a write-up in the past. I get it, truly I do, but seriously, guys, even I put on a brave face in those moments. Wasn't expecting this, but I'll go elsewhere for my shake because that's what I wanted. read more

Absolutely delicious ice cream. More flavors than usual and very friendly staff. Would totally go back if I'm ever in town again

Fantastic! Really nice teenagers working the counter, scooping up excellent homemade ice cream in a wide variety of flavors. I sampled from several of my companions and settled on the white chocolate chip and the heath bar. Plenty of comfortable seating inside, with the adorable and walkable town of Hingham outside. read more

I always go here but never left a review till today. First the selection of ice cream here is amazing and it tastes good too. Also the location is good with it being in the center of Hingham. Lastly the service was very fast and it took me not that long to get my ice cream. read more

Nona's is the best ice cream ever ‼‼‼ Even in Europe My husband and my daughter go there every night And have for many years . I can't eat sugar, or I would go with themThe owners and staff are friendly and do a great job The Ambiance is adorable read more

Good ice cream but not great. Definitely not worth the cost but it's Hingham and that is expected. Parking can be difficult. Decent selection of toppings. Staff could use some customer service training. Never a "Hi, what can I get you?" More often it's: " Do you know what you want?" There are too many other options for ice cream to make me want to go back. The snooty Hingham mother's are just the cherry on top. read more

Super nice staff and fast service. Very cute interior with okay prices. I got the cran-grape sorbet spritzer and it was very light and refreshing. Super tasty and had that burst of ocean spray flavor. Absolutely recommend! read more

No complaints! Had a coffee frappe and a lemon icy freeze drink with the grandson. We alternated sharing; both were great. Nice little place to sit in a hot day. Lots of folks visiting, in and out. Nice service. It's a popular place; understandably so. read more

Overall a big yawn. Maybe it's Hingham's best ice cream, maybe they just have the downtown market cornered, but of the four flavors we got were mostly MEH. (If you need further info, my 11yo. pitched his halfway thru). IMO you can do better with store bought 'scream. read more

From the first bite, I knew this ice cream was something special! Service was great! Good service and ice cream. But run by HS kids at night is quite disturbing with certain health protocols !

I got the coffee Oreo. It had a good, rich coffee flavor, not too sweet. I took off one star because the ice cream was a little soft and there was only one chunk of oreo. Th girls behind the counter were sweet. read more

Nonas is the best. I am confused as to why anyone would give this establishment less than 5 stars. To be quite honest, it angers me. 1. Great, quick service. The employees are always polite. (Do not write an angry review that there are "long lines" and "it takes too long" if you are at Nonas on a hot summer day. This should be expected. Use common sense. It is a popular spot and your not the only person on earth.) BTW: even if there is a long line, it still does not take long. 2. The ice cream is smooth, creamy, and flavorful. There are always the basic flavors, but also more extravagant flavors that vary day to day. It's the best ice cream around, without a doubt. 3. It's in a great location in hingham center; plenty of great restaurants, shopping, outdoor seating.. etc. Nantasket Beach is just 5 mins up the road. Please do not listen to the bad reviews. Everything about Nonas is fantastic, and you NEED to give it a try. I promise, you will not regret it. read more

I visit Boston every winter and always make it a point to swing through Hingham for a Cuban sandwich at Bloomy Rind and some ice cream at Nona's. During my most recent visit, I indulged in creamy scoops of coffee Oreo and white chocolate Oreo. I always forget how huge their scoops are and the price is inexpensive considering how massive the portion is. A double scoop feels like it's just shy of a pint! I love how you can get multiple flavors regardless of how many scoops you're getting and they have a good mix of classic and inventive flavors that are always spot on. The shop is typically staffed by high school/college students, but I've always experienced quick, friendly service. Must visit place for dessert if you're in the area! read more

OMG their coffee oreo ice cream. BOMB. OMG their chocolate jimmies (free! as much as your heart desires!). I don't even like sprinkles but these were like real chocolate and wonderful. A small was huge so I could have really gone with a kiddie. They have a ton of classics and creative flavors, something for everyone. Still an old-school vibe, super friendly. Can't wait to find myself back in Hingam next summer. Until then, I will dream of coffee oreo.. read more

Oh, how I miss Nona's! It was such an easy drive when I lived in Quincy. I truly don't understand the sub-standard reviews of this place. Ice cream is my #1 weakness Nona's does it right. To start, their flavor list is expansive. You can have something elevated (like blueberry cheesecake) or something simple (like chocolate M&M), so fans of all ages have choices. Second, you can tell by the depth of their flavors and the thick consistency of the ice cream that this is all made in-house. The staff behind the counter are rock stars. It's rather small inside, so they keep the line moving by tackling group orders in one fell swoop (very smart!) There are a few tables, but those are usually taken at peak times, so I'd recommend taking your cone (or cup) for a walk around town if the weather is nice enough. Hope to be back soon! read more

I've been only one time, but if you like puppy dogs and ice cream you should definitely go here. There aren't any puppy dogs, though. It's just a saying. It would probably be a health violation, but I don't really know. If you want to know for sure, contact the Health Department: http://www.hingham-ma.gov/about_contact.html. There you go - I'm rambling. What I mean is, I love Nona's and I hope I didn't take myself out of the game by talking about puppy dogs and ice cream. Maybe I should have waited 3 days to write this review. read more

I tried the coffee oreo, which I don't see often, even though both parts of the ice cream, separately, is ubiquitous. It was okay, though nothing incredibly special. The ice cream was pretty creamy though. The Johnny B Good, however, is rather special and a great change for those who want a substantial ice cream like a cookies and cream, but think that's a little too boring. The Johnny is a cinnamon ice cream with oatmeal cookies inside. The cinnamon gives this a kick and goes well with the richness of the ice cream. The prices and portions are generally better than city ice cream places. The decor is acceptable, and is an ordinary little ice cream joint. The service was friendly and patient. I guess they expect customers to be indecisive when they all the enticing flavors! read more

I am serious about my ice cream and Nona's is a as good as it gets in Hingham. Price point is reasonable and staff is polite. I wish they had more dairy free options as my husband is allergic and loathes shaved ice. If you stop here you won't want to miss out on the waffle cones! The ice cream here is SO GOOD.

Nona's is really one of the best things about Hingham MA. Her Hingham Harbor Sludge is about the tastiest thing you will ever consume. You simply can't have one serving. I used to send a quart home with a dozen roses from the Greenery every Valentines Day. Don't visit Hingham without stopping by Nona's. I mean it homemade ice cream! It does not get better. read more

Drove from Providence for the day and met my friends for a quick treat at Nona's. The inside was small with a number of tables. They had a bunch of quirky flavors, fun toppings, sundaes, and shakes. If you can prepare yourself for the monumental wait then Nona's is worth it. In fact, it's one of the few places where I will allow myself to get "real ice cream" instead of frozen yogurt because it is just that good. The last time I was there I had the Mint Oreo cookie ice cream and it wasn't minty enough for my taste and dare I say, it had too many Oreo's? Well, I think it did. That didn't stop me from inhaling the entire thing though. Once, on an all out splurge with my ice cream obsessed BFF, I got a sundae (I'm such a rebel) and there wasn't enough hot fudge. That, to me, is a crime. read more

We came here from Quincy, so it was a little bit of a drive, but worth it! The drive was beautiful and peaceful, passing by all the beautiful, large colonial homes. The street that Nona's is on is idyllic. Gorgeous store fronts, a church and old movie theater that makes it feel like you are in an All-American movie. The Ice Cream place itself is large and clean and has a couple tables, and several chairs at a bar. There is a bench or two outside; or you can walk the street. They were all out of Coffee Oreo :/ which I really wanted to try, so I guess I will have to come back! Instead I had the Mint M&M (delish!) and a scoop of the Cotton Candy, which did not taste or look like original Cotton Candy but tasted more like Cotton Candy with no artificial taste and was not overtly too sweet. My boyfriend got the Sundae made with Vanilla ice cream and Key Lime Pie ice cream with hot fudge and a brownie. He loved it! The only thing we wouldn't get again is the Key Lime ice cream. It was not the best, and had a bad aftertaste. There was also a price board, where you can purchase pints of ice cream or a thing of the hot fudge. I also saw some Cakes! There is diagonal street parking in front of the store as well as parallel parking across the street. We came on a Sunday, late afternoon and there were plenty of spaces. Overall we were quite impressed with Nona's. Tip: They were letting the girl in front of me sample multiple ice creams before ordering! Nice! read more

Have I mentioned I'm supposedly dieting? Hmm, well, that dreaded "d-word" and Nona's definitely don't mix. Nona's undoubtedly has some of the best ice cream I have ever tasted (and I guess that's sort of saying a lot...I'm always screaming for ice cream) I'd typically label waffle cones/dishes under "unnecessary calories," but if they have one of the chocolate ones, oh baby, who's counting? They have a ton of flavors, but my favorite is something along the lines of "Hingham Harbor Sludge." Sounds ooey, gooey and mooshy, and it is sooo worth it. (Just think chocolate) I do wish they had more regular seating here as it's pretty scarce... watching my 63 year old father precariously try and perch on a stool with a giant ice cream cone was something I'd prefer not to witness again. Be prepared to spend $10 or so for two people. Nona's is just up Central St. from the blinking stop light at the intersection of Central and South Streets. Tons of parking. read more
