By far the Best "burger" I've had. I use the quotes, because my "burger" was also toppped with filet! Honestly though, the burger part outshined the filet. I had the 'SpringPhilly, I was initially leery of the Baba Cheese-sauce...(I think I carry Velveeta scars from childhood) but it was delicious! Not overpowering & very tasty. The RED Peppers and onions were perfectly cooked & even the bun was light & fluffy. I added a side of the Smoky Garlic Mayo... YUM! I also ordered the salt & pepper fries with a side of Chipotle Ketchup. The Salt & Pepper fries were Hot, Crispy, & delicious... but nothing overly special. I added more salt & pepper. (Perhaps I was just too engrossed in my "burger"). There are lots of "loaded fries" on the menu, to choose from. These do seem to be the perfect fries for toppings! The orders of loaded fries that I saw coming out looked delicious... Just not sure that I could've eaten that AND my "burger". The Chipotle Ketchup just tasted like normal ketchup. I ended up dipping most of my fries in the left over Smoky Garlic Mayo. On top of the great food, I had WONDERFUL Service! Accurate, Timely, & Friendly.. I'm a small girl, & routinely eat 1/2 of a meal, sparing my stomach, & saving the the other 1/2 for later.... BUT I Couldn't Stop!! & I Regret Nothing! We love this place. As a frequent business traveler, this is one of the best burgers I've ever had. We really enjoy this location and the owner has done a tremendous job with hiring his staff. After several hours at the Bass Pro Shops World of Wildlife we were looking for a great place to eat in Springfield. My son found Black Sheep on a search for places to eat in Springfield. Although it was very busy we were seated almost immediately. Our server greeted us right away and took our drink orders. Our food order was taken right after our drinks arrived. The place was very busy and loud but not that deafening loud that some box restaurants are guilty of. Our food was delivered quickly and boy was it good! My Parmesan truffle fries were hot, crispy and delicious. My son had the smoked fries and he loved them. The habanero cheese curds were really good as well. I suggest getting the truffle Mayo to dip your fries in too. The only thing I wish they had was heaters outside above or near the outside tables since it was cold, but we just staying inside and I would 100% recommend and go back! I've been here a few times. Service is great and so is the food. The only problem i have with the food is they don't have just basic fries. It's a bunch of crazy choices in which they put all sorts of weird stuff all over it. The reason for only 3 stars is it seems as if the management forces their very young Gen Z employees to wear t-shirts advertising rock bands from back in mid 70's thru late 90's and maybe a little into early 00's. That in itself isn't a big deal but I'm sure if you started playing music from the band on their particular shirt they would have no idea who it was. If you're in Springfield, you don't want to miss eating at Blaack Sheep!!! The burgers are fantastic and there is a big variety of fries - all choices being delicious! Our family favorites are the 'Cowboy Carl' burger with brisket and 'What the Dr Ordered' with ribmeat and a fried egg. An order of fries is large enough to share with 2 or 3 people ... favorites are 'Parmesan Truffle' and 'Apple 'n Hickory Smoked' fries. In addition to amazing food, the staff is friendly and efficient. I called two days ahead to setup our party of 70 people and everyone was happily full with their bill paid within two hours. Honestly, I cannot say enough great things about this place and really wish they'd put one in Houston. read more

This was our second time eating at the Black Sheep, we both ordered the Cowboy Carl which consists of USDA prime beef patty, brisket, candied bacon, chipotle bbq sauce, spicy crispy onion strings, house made pickles on a brioche bun. This is much more than a burger and is tied for the best burger I've ever eaten. We followed that up with some amazing shakes, the Purple Haze- a blackberry cobbler frozen custard shake & the Elvis- a chocolate, peanut butter, banana and frozen custard shake. These shakes were delicious and provided us the perfect finish to a great meal. If you're looking for high quality burgers, fries and shakes this is the one stop shop for all three of those. Highly recommend Black Sheep. Some friends and I were traveling back to St. Louis from a Mountain Bike Festival and stopped in Springfield. This place is a sports bar-ish type of spot. We have eaten here many times in the last few years when we are in Springfield. I absolutely adored their smoked fries and adult shakes. This place like many others has a shortage of staff. The food was still good, but even with a reservation we waited 40 minutes to be seated and another 30 for our shakes. The food arrived about 20 minutes later. While we were waiting the host did try to keep us informed of the delays but the waiter was less informative. Could have been he was covering tables in another section of the restaurant. No penalties for service, none of that is their fault. But if you're going there- like nearly anywhere take your patience and build in some extra time. read more

Two of us stopped here passing through Springfield recently for lunch. I saw a Facebook post from another friend a short while ago so this seemed like great timing. We rolled in around 12:30 and it was not very busy. Black Sheep is a craft burger place with fancy shakes including boozy ones. I had the "foodie" burger, a double 4 oz patty with Boursin style cheese, caramelized onion, and truffle mayo. My buddy had the "I have lost my mind" double chicken sandwich - grilled. The salt and pepper fries were shareable. My burger was really good - creamy, full of flavor and just the right size. Twin thin patties do not allow for medium rare so the patties were cooked through. The fries were hot and crispy and a sriracha mayo was a nice dipping sauce. The chicken sandwich was declared delicious as well. Service was really good, with drinks refilled several times and to-go drinks given to us. The best burgers I've had in Springfield. I will say they are pretty small, I could probably eat two without batting an eye. But they are great non the less. The fries are just as good if not better. With different options too. All are great, but the smoked fries are my favorite. The best thing about this place though is the sauces. They give you all of them, which is just awesome. They're all great and makes the experience more fun. I also like that the servers wear t-shirts of classic rock bands. It's in a great area and has a nice vibe to it. After spending a day in Branson we headed towards Springfield to stay the night. As usual, we visited Black Sheep because of all the Yelp reviews. It sure did not disappoint! For starters we ordered the Salt & Vinegar Fries. These were SUPER crispy and tasted just like they sound. The flavor is pretty strong so we weren't able to finish our order, but don't get me wrong, they were delicious! For drinks, we ordered two alcoholic shakes: Strawberry Fields Forever *alcoholic* : Strawberries, shortcake, vodka, frozen vanilla custard Elvis *alcoholic* : Banana, peanut butter, irish cream, frozen chocolate custard I ordered the "Don't Go Bacon My Heart" burger: 4oz patty, applewood smoked bacon, black diamond sharp cheddar, butter lettuce, tomato, pickle, onion, smoky garlic mayo. I asked to sub the onion with their spicy fried onion. I honestly thought they were going to do just a few strips...but as you can see from the photo, I pretty much got a whole order of spicy fried onions with my burger!!! And to top it off, they didn't even charge extra! My husband ordered the "Born in the U.S.A": double 4oz patties, american cheese, chopped smoked bacon, peppadew peppers, smoky roasted garlic mayo. He ordered it with peppadew peppers on the side since he wasn't in the mood in case it was spicy. Overall, the service was great and the food amazing!!! Oh....my.....stars!!!! We just drove through this place for the first time. We got the Bacon My Heart burger and fries to share. It was juicy, sloppy delicious, and "off the charts amazing goodness!" The wonderfully seasoned fries were hot, crunchy on the outside and "fluffy potato goodness" on the inside. They were just as amazing as the sandwich! (Additionally, we got the garlic dipping sauce for our fries and it tasted heavenly.) However, the fries are honestly "stand alone" delicious! We asked them to please cut the sandwich in half and they kindly did. If you are REALLY hungry I wouldn't buy one to share....but if you're somewhat hungry, sharing one (AND the fries) will satisfy you both.....and will leave room for a bit of dessert later. Highly recommend this place. You will NOT be disappointed! Also, we drove through Black Sheep during what could be a very busy time (around 6:00 on a Saturday).
