This was our second time eating at the Black Sheep, we both ordered the Cowboy Carl which consists of USDA prime beef patty, brisket, candied bacon, chipotle bbq sauce, spicy crispy onion strings, house made pickles on a brioche bun. This is much more than a burger and is tied for the best burger I've ever eaten. We followed that up with some amazing shakes, the Purple Haze- a blackberry cobbler frozen custard shake & the Elvis- a chocolate, peanut butter, banana and frozen custard shake. These shakes were delicious and provided us the perfect finish to a great meal. If you're looking for high quality burgers, fries and shakes this is the one stop shop for all three of those. Highly recommend Black Sheep. Some friends and I were traveling back to St. Louis from a Mountain Bike Festival and stopped in Springfield. This place is a sports bar-ish type of spot. The fries are banging! Highly recommend the cheese curds. I got the Don't Go Bacon My Heart Burger--10/10 recommend. It's flavor filled and the cheddar cheese combo is . We just got take out but it was fantastic We ordered the blues brothers burger (would have been better with slightly less bleu cheese- it's such a strong flavor and easily overtakes) and the chicken breast burger (the chicken was a tiny bit dry- hard to avoid and could have used more sauce to compensate) but the basil on it really added a complex flavor I hadn't experienced before We shared the Oreo shake too. The best burgers I've had in Springfield. I will say they are pretty small, I could probably eat two without batting an eye. But they are great non the less. The fries are just as good if not better. With different options too. All are great, but the smoked fries are my favorite. The best thing about this place though is the sauces. They give you all of them, which is just awesome. They're all great and makes the experience more fun. I also like that the servers wear t-shirts of classic rock bands. It's in a great area and has a nice vibe to it. We have eaten here many times in the last few years when we are in Springfield. I absolutely adored their smoked fries and adult shakes. This place like many others has a shortage of staff. The food was still good, but even with a reservation we waited 40 minutes to be seated and another 30 for our shakes. The food arrived about 20 minutes later. While we were waiting the host did try to keep us informed of the delays but the waiter was less informative. Could have been he was covering tables in another section of the restaurant. No penalties for service, none of that is their fault. But if you're going there- like nearly anywhere take your patience and build in some extra time. read more

Two of us stopped here passing through Springfield recently for lunch. I saw a Facebook post from another friend a short while ago so this seemed like great timing. We rolled in around 12:30 and it was not very busy. Black Sheep is a craft burger place with fancy shakes including boozy ones. I had the "foodie" burger, a double 4 oz patty with Boursin style cheese, caramelized onion, and truffle mayo. My buddy had the "I have lost my mind" double chicken sandwich - grilled. The salt and pepper fries were shareable. My burger was really good - creamy, full of flavor and just the right size. Twin thin patties do not allow for medium rare so the patties were cooked through. The fries were hot and crispy and a sriracha mayo was a nice dipping sauce. The chicken sandwich was declared delicious as well. Service was really good, with drinks refilled several times and to-go drinks given to us. Oh....my.....stars!!!! We just drove through this place for the first time. We got the Bacon My Heart burger and fries to share. It was juicy, sloppy delicious, and "off the charts amazing goodness!" The wonderfully seasoned fries were hot, crunchy on the outside and "fluffy potato goodness" on the inside. They were just as amazing as the sandwich! (Additionally, we got the garlic dipping sauce for our fries and it tasted heavenly.) However, the fries are honestly "stand alone" delicious! We asked them to please cut the sandwich in half and they kindly did. If you are REALLY hungry I wouldn't buy one to share....but if you're somewhat hungry, sharing one (AND the fries) will satisfy you both.....and will leave room for a bit of dessert later. Highly recommend this place. You will NOT be disappointed! Also, we drove through Black Sheep during what could be a very busy time (around 6:00 on a Saturday). They got our order taken and delivered in a truly timely fashion. Plus, the young lady at the window was friendly and pleasant. .....a 5 star experience all the way around! I'm not going to lie, I was pretty upset to come back to Black Sheep this time to see the fried pickles and Jamaican Me Crazy burger be removed from the menu.... BUT, our time at Black Sheep was still an amazing one like always. I'll be sad to leave this restaurant behind as we move to a different state. That's how good this place is and definitely worth trying! There are a few Black Sheep locations in town. This one is probably one of my favorites but the downtown one is also a good choice. Today, we ordered sweet potato fries and their amazing garlic parm fries (YOU HAVE TO GET THIS). My husband got the Cowboy Carl and I got the Don't Go Bacon My heart. They were both amazing! We had some time to kill and are always up for a drink so we wandered in. We sat at the bar the bartender made our evening. He was a super nice guy and helped us pick our drinks and snack. We chose the salt and pepper fries. They were hot and good-not hand cut or anything fancy but good enough. We couldn't decide on a sauce so the nice bartender came through again with a very healthy selection of sauces to try. The boozy milkshakes looked delicious but it was cold and rainy outside so I couldn't imagine drinking one-but we will be back on a warmer evening to try them for sure! read more

Delightful restaurant. Casual, comfortable, with friendly attentive staff. Burgers are great and interesting. So are the milkshakes! There is only one salad on the menu but it is awesome! After spending a day in Branson we headed towards Springfield to stay the night. As usual, we visited Black Sheep because of all the Yelp reviews. It sure did not disappoint! For starters we ordered the Salt & Vinegar Fries. These were SUPER crispy and tasted just like they sound. The flavor is pretty strong so we weren't able to finish our order, but don't get me wrong, they were delicious! For drinks, we ordered two alcoholic shakes: Strawberry Fields Forever *alcoholic* : Strawberries, shortcake, vodka, frozen vanilla custard Elvis *alcoholic* : Banana, peanut butter, irish cream, frozen chocolate custard I ordered the "Don't Go Bacon My Heart" burger: 4oz patty, applewood smoked bacon, black diamond sharp cheddar, butter lettuce, tomato, pickle, onion, smoky garlic mayo. I asked to sub the onion with their spicy fried onion. I honestly thought they were going to do just a few strips...but as you can see from the photo, I pretty much got a whole order of spicy fried onions with my burger!!! And to top it off, they didn't even charge extra! My husband ordered the "Born in the U.S.A": double 4oz patties, american cheese, chopped smoked bacon, peppadew peppers, smoky roasted garlic mayo. He ordered it with peppadew peppers on the side since he wasn't in the mood in case it was spicy. Overall, the service was great and the food amazing!!! It was such a deal for the amount we ordered and how much our bill was. Definitely recommend those from out of town to stop by Black Sheep.
