Upon stopping by town decided to swing in here and try this burger location. They are friendly and we're kind in educating someone not from the area on how each burger style was and which were best sellers. I ordered a double patty ugly burger, solid cheese burger for kids and the foodie to eat in with fries and the garlic aioli and truffle aioli dips . I also ordered the brisket burger to go for later. Let's start with Service - inside it was fast freindly,helpful and informational. Enviorment - modern no music playing or background sounds other then the cooks which was ok but a little ambiance music would help. Restrooms - Older building with modern upgrades so bathrooms were clean but hot not ac cooled like other area of the restraunt. Food - Now to the main courses. The ugly burger was great veggies were crisp burger looked like an ad and tasted amazing on all options taken each with its own twist except the kids they choose basic and those tasted good too. The fries were good crispy and hot with aioli soda products chosen were good nothing tasted over carbonated or flat. The bbq brisket sandwiche was beyond amazing and itself even re heated to eat later was a star if only I had taken one bite hot and fresh if was over the scale great 10 out of 10. read more

Holy Cow...literally, this place is home to burgers that come from heaven! Customer service was top notch and the interior was warm and cozy. The beef was the most tender I've had, and I literally couldn't finish my fries by the time I ate my burger. The hubby and son had the Cowboy Carl with brisket and onion straws- both of which they raved about. The sauces were outstanding and had a great variety. Many years ago, there was a burger spot in Clayton, Missouri that had excellent burgers. The Fatted Calf closed in 2011, and I just could not find a comparison. However, Black Sheep is that spot. The burgers at Black Sheep are succulent and savory. The service is quick, and the restaurant of always clean. I come to this specific location when I'm in a hurry. It took a bit longer than usual the last time I ordered from here, but all things considered the wait was worth it. The burgers aren't anything extremely fancy, but they're very fresh and served hot. They are a definite leap above what you would get at McDonald's or a similar establishment. The sea salt fries are always crispy and worth it by themselves. Do keep in mind that the fries do not come with the burger, you have to buy them separate. I was expecting like it's gonna be a regular burger joint. But boy oh boy when they brought out my burger my eyes were wide as wide as they can get. We stop every year on the way back to Kansas City from our yearly float trips on the river, and they always bring their A game. Some of the best burgers and topping combos you'll find, I've had a different burger every year and I have never left disappointed. They're reasonably priced and delicious. Highly recommend the ASAP location if you're on the move and don't have time to get a full service meal like the downtown location provides. If you get the fries don't forget to ask for their house made sauces to dip! The food quality is excellent. I've tried numerous burgers and they are all very good. My demotion in my rating is the mistakes made at this location. I've been there about 6 times now, and my order has only been right the first visit back in October of 2023. I've received other people's orders, ordered the "bacon" burger that was missing bacon, order extra dips that were not included, had missing fries, etc. You MUST check EVERYTHING or it will be wrong!! The vibe is very casual and we were glad to get a table on a Saturday night with a relatively short wait but it was very awkward. I could barely squeeze it enough to take a bite. The brisket was super on it. The foodie was just my size since I wasn't super hungry and very good. We loved the fries... large and crispy on the outside with salt. We tried the Chipotle ketchup and roasted garlic mayo... both were good, but I think out of the 2, the ketchup was my fav. The inside is set up using wood, and it feels cabin...ish. Very nice outside seating area with good light. Everyone was so nice when we ordered and talked some while we waited for our food. Wow wow wow is all I can say after coming here for the first time! 10/10 for the BURGERS We stopped by the drive thu since we were in a hurry and while they got our order wrong the food 1000% made up for it! Can't wait to come back and try a shake or another "single ugly cheeseburger" as they call it for what I think is the closest to in n out taste of burgers I've had in a long time! Stopped into Black Sheep during a trip to Springfield . Burgers were great but what sold me were the fries . They took me back to my childhood living in Belgium where you could get "frites" on any corner. The fries here were so reminiscent of those of my childhood. I'll be back maybe not at lunchtime because the poor gals were swamped and the wait was a little long but they couldn't help that they were short handed. I was torn between two and three stars at this restaurant. The temperature was around 77 degrees outside and when we walked in the building you could feel the heat hit you in the face like opening the gates of Hell. I'm assuming that they were having some issues with their A/C unit but, none of the workers acknowledged the heat. They have $1.50 draft beer all day everyday, which was the main reason I stayed. They offer some really good sauces to dip your fries in. The fries were good and crunchy. I ordered the "Jamaican me crazy" burger that was supposed to have a jalapeño jelly but, the only thing that was Jamaican me crazy was the hot restaurant, ok food, and eh service. read more
