Many years ago, there was a burger spot in Clayton, Missouri that had excellent burgers. The Fatted Calf closed in 2011, and I just could not find a comparison. However, Black Sheep is that spot. The burgers at Black Sheep are succulent and savory. The service is quick, and the restaurant of always clean. I look forward to my next opportunity to drive those 3+ hours to the southwest for this delightful burger!

Black Sheep was such a great fast food stop! Definitely the best fast food burger I've had. The service was very quick, especially for it being nicer food than a normal drive thru Tried: Born in the USA burger, the Foodie burger with candied bacon added, sea salt fries with truffle mayo Loved: everything I had was fantastic - adding the candied bacon to my foodie burger was definitely a plus. the garlic cheese spread on the foodie burger added a lot of flavor too the fries were amazing - perfectly crispy and not too salty, with a great truffle mayo for dipping Liked: the price was really reasonable!

First time here and let me tell you! The service was great, she was kind and gave us time to look at what we wanted since it's our first time. I was expecting like it's gonna be a regular burger joint. But boy oh boy when they brought out my burger my eyes were wide as wide as they can get. It was so tall and so stuffed with brisket and loaded with those crispy onions ( i order the cowboy burger) . Ohhh the fries, man oh man the fries were so so crispy. Best burger and fries that I've ever had in my life! Don't forget the garlic mayo !!!! I want to go back and get some more but I live in Hawaii =/ if I ever visit again, it be the first place I head to before getting to the airbnb.

Being new to Springfield we are working our way down Sunshine. This one is a keeper and one we will keep in our rotation.

I had the Cowboy Carl burger (Check menu pic for details) and my wife had the Bacon My Heart burger & fries. Both burgers were great! Big burgers too! The staff were very friendly and helpful. Though not a very big place the seating area was clean with a very relaxed atmosphere. We will be going back to this place for sure. Worth the stop.

Black Sheep is a MUST STOP lunch or dinner spot on your way through Springfield. We stop every year on the way back to Kansas City from our yearly float trips on the river, and they always bring their A game. Some of the best burgers and topping combos you'll find, I've had a different burger every year and I have never left disappointed. They're reasonably priced and delicious. Highly recommend the ASAP location if you're on the move and don't have time to get a full service meal like the downtown location provides. If you get the fries don't forget to ask for their house made sauces to dip! (Chipotle Ketchup, garlic roasted mayo, truffle mayo) Thank you all for the wonderful food and friendly service, we would love to see you expand up into the Kansas City area!

Kids playing in kitchens. A recipe for disaster.

OSHA alert! Where are we're you last night? At the basketball game? Perhaps wrestling? You could have saved your money and gone to Black Sheep Burgers instead! There you would have seen somebody's kid running, and I mean RUNNING around in the busy kitchen. When he got tired of that he got one of the girls there to chase him in and out of the kitchen, through the dining room and into the parking lot before going back to the kitchen where they proceeded to have a full on wrestling match. Hot grill tops? No problem. Fryers with boiling oil in them? Pshaw! Workers walking around with knives, plates of food and all manner of kitchen implements? They should get out of the way. This is thunder dome baby, where two men enter, one man leaves!

Meh. The sea salt fries are epic. My burger? Dry as the Arabian Desert (which, as it turns out, I've lived in before, so I know a thing or two about dry things). In addition a to dry overcooked meat, I also got a dry, seemingly stale bun. It was also dry as in it didn't have enough sauce, even if the meat and bun weren't so dry. Not impressed. Paid too much for such a terrible drive through experience, too.

I will not drag the competition, but Dublin's Pass was the clear winner. I won't use specifics, but you get so much more bang for your buck, purely from a financial aspect. Let me first say, the eggs arrive on a plate with a light breading that adds the perfect balance of crunch yet balanced with the soft egg. All brought to you with a mustard that is the perfect combination of pickled veg and punchy mustard. The meat was cooked perfectly. The combination between the meat, egg and mustard marry one another beautifully to lend to a flavor roller coaster in your mouth. What really sets these Scotch eggs apart is the attention to detail. They taste like they are meant for a flavor rollercoaster. Each element feels intentional. Whether you're a longtime Scotch egg lover or trying one for the first time, this restaurant sets the bar high. Simply put: these are the Scotch eggs other places should be aspiring. Eggs aside, we also had an order of the boneless wings. Not a hard thing to get right, but we had roasted garlic parmesan with garlic aioli, to die for. I am from out of town, and this place is absolutely a must. It will never not be on to do list.

As soon as I walked into Dublin Irish Pass, I felt comfortable. Right off the bat, I was greeted by very friendly staff who were keeping busy during the slow opening hour by watering plants or restocking the bar. I decided to head to the bar backed by the very friendly Karlie. Started off with the Scottish eggs, and they came out piping hot and fresh with a side of spicy mustard. The combination of savory sausage flavor, sweetness of the deviled egg, and a dab of spicy mustard made these starters absolutely worth the choice but could almost be a meal itself! Going further along with the Irish setting, I also went with the original cottage pie, loaded of course, and hands down it's the best pie I've had. The beef, gravy, vegetables, and potatoes added with the garlic mashed potatoes and pie crust was absolute bliss. Again, piping hot from the oven with that perfect mix of soft and crunch from the crust was perfection comfort food. Paired with a Guinness, this is as close to heaven as one can get during work's hour lunch break. The bar area started filling up with the lunch crowd towards the end, but Karlie expertly managed all of it with ease, remaining attentive to the gathering crowd while multitasking between taking food orders and serving as well as bartending. This masterful combination of service, atmosphere, and great food is hard to find around Springfield, but Dublin Pass nailed it while making it look easy, making them a highly suggested stop.

The Table

Eating in a wing back chair, at some odd table, isn't well suited for dining. But, sure looks neat. The food is ok to good: Burger : The burger was really good. Has some jam sauce on it which really works. Beef has a good flavor. The bacon was very good. . Potato soup: The soup is good....but needed far greater seasoning to have it be great. Pork Wings: Again, needed more seasoning to elevate the pork. And the dipping sauces were a bit unusual. And the Asian style sauce - by gosh did it have a ton of saffron. Patagonia side item: These potato chunks weren't much. Potatoes were nothing special, under seasoned and the dipping sauce was unusual. And so much saffron, it was way overpowering. . Is it worth going to - absolutely and the place is neat. But I give an extra 1/2 to 1 star more, just because of the neatness of the place.

I really wanted to like The Table…read more The space itself is absolutely beautiful -- one of the best dining rooms in Springfield -- and it feels like the kind of place that should deliver a more elevated, full-service experience. That's part of what made the counter-service model feel a little out of sync with the atmosphere. We first tried visiting as a group of about 12 on a Saturday around 7 PM. I had called ahead and was told they don't take reservations, so we planned accordingly. When we arrived, we were told there wasn't any way to accommodate our group together -- not even the option to wait for space to open up -- so we ended up going elsewhere. I did come back later with a smaller group for lunch. The experience was better logistically, but still a bit disjointed. The menu felt somewhat scattered, and while we were able to find seating at a communal table, the overall flow felt a bit chaotic. After ordering at the counter, the wait for food was quite long -- around 45 minutes or more -- which gave us plenty of time to observe how things were running. Toward the end, I noticed tables being marked as unavailable/reserved, which made me wonder why a similar approach couldn't have worked for larger groups earlier. When the food arrived, it was good -- nothing wrong with it -- but not especially memorable, especially considering the wait and price point. There's a lot to like here, especially the space and overall concept, but the execution didn't quite match the expectations for me. I do think with some adjustments to service flow and consistency, this could be a much stronger experience.
