Perfect spot for a pre dinner happy hour. We were able to easily make a reservation by calling ahead of time. Our party of three was seated promptly and we quickly put orders in for 36 oysters during the $1 oyster happy hour, rolls, and drinks. There were three different types offered so obviouslyyy we ordered a dozen of each. Served with the typical sauces and vinegar, it was delish. Refreshing, salty, and hits the spot. The rolls were a good buffer between all the slurping. I ordered a cider and my two friends ordered cocktails they seemed to enjoy. Service is friendly and attentive, but not overly so. The place is the perfect upscale but still affordable aesthetic with the dark green walls, high ceilings, indoor plants, lamb wallpaper, and various types of seating (bar, high top, traditional table). Made a reservation for three for dinner at 6:45pm on a Tuesday night and it was already pretty much packed by the time we got there. It seems like a popular spot for the post-work rush so I'd definitely recommend making a reservation. We sat at a high top by the open windows and got to enjoy the breeze. There seems to be a variety of seating options, including a nice patio outside. I got the Tom Collins and the salmon, both of which I really enjoyed. The salmon sat on a huge bed of vegetables and was surprisingly filling. Our waitress was super friendly and overall I had a good experience. Came here for brunch with friends! My meal was DELICIOUS. The different textures and flavors on my plate were amazing. The tzatziki sauce was a great touch and added a nice freshness to the dish. This used to be our go to place in the south end. Always good food and good service . Tonight was just bizarre and so disappointing. When we checked in , we were told that we have an 1.5hour limit ( it's Monday night at 7;00pm) . We were ok with that and we were promptly seated . They took our plates away as we waited for the steak . After 15 min the waiter came over and asked us if we wanted dessert ? Huh ? I said " we're still waiting for our steak " he apologized and said the "the system marked you as green so I thought you've already had your food". So again we waited and the server brought out a plate of sweet potatoes . I assumed it came with our steak so I started picking at it ( since we didn't have plates or silver ware ). The waiter comes back , picks up the sweet potatoes and says " sorry wrong table " . ... by then I'm getting anxious and Hangry . Out steak finally arrived and it's COLD. I was so annoyed but hungry so we decided to just eat it in fear of having to wait another 30 min for our food . We finished the steak and still no sign of the side dish : I ordered the spring Spaetzle . So the cleaned up our plates again and then the server came by and asked " can I bring you a dessert menu "?? I just lost it !! I said "where is the side we ordered" ? She looked confused and walked away , came back and said " oh sorry looks like we might have given it to another table "! So we asked for our check , paid and left . The bartending was excellent and attentive, both the gimlet and the white negroni were strong and tasty, refreshing for a late summer evening. Food-wise, we ordered 4 things to share amongst 3 women: the parker house rolls (piping hot, amazingly soft and fragrant), the artichoke dip (tasty but forgettable), the black lamb burger (VERY lamby with that meat flavor but well-cooked, on a generously sesame seeded bun), and the fried chicken (well-breaded, the breast was tender albeit a tad undersalted, with good cornbread, flavorful-yet-not-too-heavy potato salad, and refreshing watermelon/tomato salad). We put off going in hopes that they'd iron out the kinks, and it definitely was not as loud as other reviewers have said. We started with the salt and vinegar chips, and as someone who LOVES salt and vinegar, these were lacking a little in flavor. They had a great texture and it was a healthy serving, but they were just missing that tang. We shared the lamb tartare which we heard was a must, and while it was very tasty, the sauce kind of overpowered the meat and the potato stick/crisps were really difficult to eat. Unless you're a dainty eater, be prepared to be stabbed repeatedly in your mouth! But what made the meal were the CORN MADELEINES! These are an absolute must. They are cooked to order and come out fresh and hot. Just enough crisp on the outside yet moist and fluffy on the inside. They have outdoor seating and plenty of natural light inside. You can order in batches of up to 2 dozen oysters. We ordered 3 rounds of 24 oysters for 3 people. The size of the first batch was significantly larger than the 2nd and 3rd rounds (which could just be a weird coincidence). The quality of the oysters were great and I could tell the oysters were very fresh. Aside from the oysters, we also ordered a crab dip special that the waiter told us about. Unfortunately, it wasn't until we got the bill that we saw how expensive the dip was and I wish we had known the pricing beforehand. I've been here twice before always for their $1 oysters Mondays. Sadly, the price for their oyster Mondays have increased to $2 per oyster. However, I just had to leave a review because of how absolutely delicious the Flat Iron Steak was. I've had their steak before around 6 months ago, and it was cooked and flavored completely differently. Today, I had one of the best steak dishes I've ever had. The individual sides in the dish were amazing, the meat was melt in your mouth tender, and the overall flavor combined perfectly. I'm calling them tomorrow to find out how long this menu item is staying as they change their menus seasonally. I hope they can make it a permanent addition to their menu! The host wouldn't let us sit in one of their several window seats even though the restaurant was empty, and continued to be fairly empty when we left. She reluctantly moved us but to another corner. The young waiter was inattentive, curt and rude. He never showed up to take our order (someone else had to tell him to come by) and when he finally did, he couldn't hear me so he said "please speak up". He would plop food down and whisk off. He didn't even check us out, again another staff member did. We tipped much less than usual and before we could leave, the young waiter (that did not check us out) showed up to stop us in our tracks and said we tipped very low and asked why. No professionalism and the restaurant is likely not paying their staff a decent wage if this kind of aggressive behavior is encouraged. Not ok. Second, points for being consistent! Whether it's Baked Oysters (recommended) or Raw Oysters (I recommend), you can't go wrong because both are equally delicious. Drank the Citrus Tea, which is a nice balance between the lemon and tea. I think refills for this is free too? In addition to these, he recommended the Madeleines which are mini cake nuggets made out of corn bread. I LOVE corn bread, so much, that I ate 2 and took the rest home to savior over the weekend.
