Lamb burger, veggie burger and truffle fries
Erika R.

Black Lamb is one of my favorite spots in south end. Great location on Tremont Street and the fact that they have daily dollar oysters is amazing! We were there after five this time so we got a variety of the oysters they had, they're grilled cheese, which I highly recommend, then we got lamb and veggie burgers. Oysters were fresh and delicious as usual. The grilled cheese was so good that we ordered two. All of our burgers were cooked just as requested, and the truffle fries were delicious. I've been here several times and will definitely be back again.

Stopped by Black Lamb for dinner as it was close to my Hotel. Was a lively place. Got the mussels in green curry! Love green curry and this sauce was good! Not the best I've had but solid. It was topped with a crispy slice of sourdough bread. Recommend for a quick bite!

Absolutely loved this place! The drinks are great, the food was great, and the outdoor patio area is adorable! The food standouts were definitely the Brussels sprouts, the lamb burger, and the artichoke dip. The service was also great, and they have a lot of fun wine options too! I'll definitely be back.

Belgian Waffle, Potato Latke & Smoked Salmon, Turkey Club

Came here for lunch and I cannot wait to return. I had the latke with smoked salmon and the waffle. Both were amazing. The flavors of the waffle were well balanced and made it an incredible pairing with the savory salmon latke. The latke was thick and golden with a good portion of smoked salmon. The service was good and the ambience was nice for lunch time. Would love to try the cocktails and dinner options next time.

A south end favorite! I love going to the black lamb for their ambiance, great food and drinks and amazing service. This is a great spot for drinks, small bites or dinner with friends. If you like a nice cocktail, check out their drink menu for cool drinks. They also have a seafood bar with a great selection of oysters.

Visited the Black Lamb for the first time last night. My two friends and I were greeted nicely and promptly seated at a table. Our servers were friendly, knowledgeable, and prompt at times, while at other times we would have preferred faster service. Drinks were delicious - The gimlet and the old fashioned were both crafted with care and were perfect. For food, we started with the artichoke dip, which was served warm with large chips. The dip was creamy and tasty, and the quantity of dip and chips matched each other well. I would definitely order this again. My friends also ordered a dozen of the $2 oysters, and enjoyed them also. We also ordered a bowl of chowder (not a very large bowl for the price), a cheeseburger, and the lamb burger. The fries that came with the burgers were really good. They were shoestring fries with a great crunch to them. I had ordered my cheeseburger with the sauce on the side, but it arrived with the sauce on it which ended up making the bun soggy, slippery and difficult to pick up. I wish there were more choices on the menu and the prices were a little on the higher side - $24 for a cheeseburger is too much for what we received. The Black Lamb does have a nice atmosphere - it was relaxing, warm, and comfortable. Service was friendly, but woud I go back? Maybe I would if my friends wanted to go there. But I would probably prefer to go somewhere else given the wide variety of restaurants in the area.

came here because we heard they offer $2 oyster deals and it was great! however the deal is only for one specific oyster and not the full menu, but it was still decent for the price. their truffle fries were good as well. the ambiance inside was nice and we got to watch part of the world cup finals while dining.

If you're looking for a great restaurant in the South End, this spot is definitely up there with some of the best! Their dishes are crafted to perfection all while maintaining a level of simplicity that celebrates the culinary skill of the chefs and the depth of flavor from the intentional ingredient pairings. Everything I tasted felt effortlessly flawless and incredibly satisfying. Right off of beautiful Tremont St, this spot has such a chill, calming vibe perfect for any meal, but emphasizing the comforting energy of dining alongside people you love- the dinner felt just as much about the company as it did about the meal all thanks to the beautiful environment and accommodating/caring service. I cannot recommend this establishment enough! It's perfect for a calm night out with friends or family to enjoy a mouth-watering elevated meal. Pro tip, get their lamb burger!! It's a perfect reflection of their amazing menu and is absolutely spectacular! You will not be disappointed dining here!

Crab Rangoon Grilled Cheese

I came here on a colleague's recommendation - we were visiting Boston and couldn't pass up the opportunity to enjoy fresh seafood. We arrived early for our dinner reservation, and the restaurant was able to seat us right away. I took in the modern brasserie vibes and felt like I was entering an exclusive but welcoming dining club - the floors were adorned with black and white tile, the lighting was moody, and there was a killer playlist of Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande that kept everything upbeat. After we were settled, our server explained the new winter menu, including a seasonal version of the seafood platter. We ordered a couple of appetizers to share - the crab rangoon grilled cheese and the seafood plate. The crab rangoon grilled cheese was unique - the crab and cheese was a decadent combo, although the pineapple dipping sauce struck me as a little out of place. The seafood platter was the true showstopper. The platter featured Arcadian oysters, clams, salmon carpaccio, and shrimp, along with several sauces and pickled vegetables. I'll admit that I don't eat fresh oysters very often, but these oysters were at peak freshness - they tasted like the ocean in the best way possible. For my entree, I ordered grilled salmon with white beans and root vegetables. The salmon was flaky and tender, and the vegetables were bathed in a rich butter sauce. I was very full after the meal, and my seafood craving was certainly satisfied.

Came here for lunch on Friday early afternoon, party of 2, no reservations needed since it wasn't crowded on a weekday, sat inside. Our order: corn bisque with salmon ($32), Brussels sprouts, poke ($20), 3 oysters ($2 each , special of the day). Everything was $80 ish total including the 4% wage fee. Pros: - DELICIOUS seafood. Salmon was well cooked, hiramasa poke was so unique (reminded me more of ceviche with sashimi sized fish with shrimp chips) and flavorful with different textures that blended together really well. Brussels sprouts were a great tasty veggie (much needed after long travels) - kind service - our waiter was helpful in rebalancing our tippy table and service was efficient - beautiful upscale ambiance inside, but not so fancy that you feel underdressed. The bar area is really pretty. - indoor and outdoor seating available - walkable from train Cons: - none. Great menu. Will be back.

Really great place and would go back. Service was just perfect. Atmosphere is super. Not too fancy but a nice place. Kind of wish we'd sat outside but when making reservations you never know what the weather will be. Food was quite good, a bit pricey. But location was good. I could have skipped the cornbread. Others loved it. Burger and Lamb Burger were well liked. Grilled cheese was great but too rich as an entree so I mostly shared it. Good dessert.

I've been to Black Lamb three times now, once for my birthday and have had great experiences all three times! They have $2 oysters every weekday or day until 5 (I believe all day on Mondays) and they have a great assortment of food options and drinks! I have ordered their salmon entree, the cheeseburger, and the mussels and they were all delicious! Service is great and the ambience inside is perfect for group outings, dates, or hangouts with friends.

Creme brulee with strange items on top

Great meal. The cornbread was outstanding. The lamb ribs were very flavorful with a satay kind of sauce. The creme brulee itself was good, but the toppings were odd. There was a dry foam that was like bread midway through being vaporized, and the other accoutrements felt like things you'd use to lure a bird into a trap. Overall, great experience and I plan to come back.

It responded right away that it would optimize for a place that appeals to cocktail nerds and is open on Mondays. I directed me to Wig Shop, and said that Wig Shop even has a cocktail named in honor of John Gertsen, Boston's much-missed (he's in SF, last I knew) founding bartender at Drink and Number Nine Park. Wig Shop did not disappoint: fabulous cocktails, an easygoing vibe (my two buddies and I were able to chat without yelling from 8pm until 11:30), comfortable banquettes (with, incidentally, backs that are high enough to be supportive but low enough that you can spread out your arms on them), and wonderful service. The service, in particular, lives up to the "cocktail nerd" aspect that the LLM highlighted: our server knew the drinks backwards and forwards, and knew exactly what I was talking about when I mentioned the drink in Gertsen's honor. I'd recommend this place to cocktail nerds, and to anyone who wants to have a drink and chat with friends. We'll be back soon.

The Wig Shop was on the list... what a coincidence we were just going to be there. So, obviously, we made it a point to check it out. It was very last minute, so we had no reservations, but we checked opening hours and were there almost on the dot. Thankfully we were able to get in. The way they are setup is that if you are a party of 2, they sit you with another "couple" to maximize space. This is fun, it makes you have conversations with strangers that for the time you are there become "friends". Hopefully you have the same good experience we did and not have anti-social people in front of you. The drinks are fun and strong, and they have a full bar for those who want something more classic or have a drink of choice. They also have food, which looked really good.

In advance, I stopped into the hotel to confirm that a gluten-free guest could be accommodated and was assured this would be handled. In reality, the accommodation was inadequate and, at times, unacceptable. While the rest of us were served scones, my stepdaughter was given cut fruit in their place, and told that was all they had to accommodate. The dessert course consisted of what appeared to be basic gluten-free cookies, misrepresented as something more gourmet - egg nog cookies??? This lack of preparation was both disappointing, upsetting and avoidable. The broader experience was equally concerning. We were subjected to an unsolicited and uncomfortable "lesson" on tea service, which detracted from what should have been a relaxed and celebratory occasion. While trying to enjoy the time with the girls, being a lifelong tea drinker and someone who has been to many times at your establishment and its various incarnations, this is something I have never experienced. The food quality was poor (scones were clearly reheated and stuck to the cloth napkin they were wrapped in), and there were notable service lapses, including being served water in a visibly shattered glass. Additionally, when hot water was added to refresh the tea, my stepdaughter's pot curdled and had to be replaced. It was especially disappointing, as I mentioned that I had stopped in and spoken with the concierge, and was assured, as they had called the kitchen while I stood there that they readily accommodated gluten-free. There are numerous places in the city that could have done this, and if you had just told me that you could not do so, I would have booked us elsewhere. I chose not to raise the multiple issues in the moment so as not to disrupt what was meant to be a special day for the girls and me. However, the total cost exceeded $500, and the experience did not come close to justifying that price point! Do not recommend.
