Came here for some eggs Benedict. I got the California Bacon. The yolks weren't runny, as I thought was the norm with eggs Benedict, so that made me sad. The tomatoes on the English muffins had sour tastes to them as well, not fresh. All in all, probably the worst eggs Benedict I've ever had. My wife got the turkey club and said it was extremely mediocre. Flimsy bread, lots of mayo, etc. Sandwiches don't seem to be there thing either. Didn't start well. Waited for 8 minutes to be seated. The single waitress WAS literally running. We were shown to our seat by the late arriving waitress as she walked in and set her stuff down. So I don't leave a lot of 2-4 star reviews. If its fantastic, I yelp. If it's bad I yelp. The food here was ok. That's as good of a compliment as this place is going to get from me. Service was really poor. They forgot us and my wife had to go and ask them for service after sitting for over 30 minutes. They take our drink order (as if we didn't know what we wanted to order for food yet) and we wait again. Five minutes later a different person with a trainee comes out with the drinks and is way bubbly taking our order. We wait another 20 minutes for food with no refills during the wait. They got 3 out of the 4 orders wrong. Super bubbly waitress laughs it off and gets it straightened out. Then they bring out two refills (I guess to make up for the previous hour) at once. I would have loved to have tried this place but I called to find out if they have MSG in their food because my husband and son are allergic. Apparently it's too much to ask to check ingredients for a potential customer. The only answer I got was "we aren't msg free". I specifically asked if someone could check and they refused. We occasionally go here and every time I say why bother coming back. It's not horrible, so I'm not sure what I expect, but it's never great either. The portions are huge, but the last time we went I got biscuits and gravy, and with their biscuits being ginormous, the gravy the gave me was stingy. Located in the middle of two college towns this place is busy busy busy always and you can except the service to be as any busy restaurant would be, poor to fair. I've never been impressed with a server from here but I've never had that awful of an experience. The food is always good, I have received burnt pancakes a couple of times and was unable to track down my waitress in order for her to take it back. Drinks take a while to be refilled. It's definitely the food that keeps me coming back, as long as it's not burnt. One of my favorite restaurants but if you have the opportunity to stop at a different location, it may be worth it for the better service. My wife waited in line to get an estimate on the wait time and was treated horribly by the hostess when she was finally able to ask. Friends, there really is something to be said for GREAT customer service at this location. I started coming to Black Bear Diner a few years ago and I bounce between a few favorite breakfast entrees that I've loved over the years. (Full disclosure, I've never ordered anything BUT breakfast from here.) But this last visit I ordered my usual ScramBowl (with hash browns instead of country potatoes, farm fresh eggs, and no jalapeños... because they are way too jalapenmymouth ;) and they completely botched it. The French toast I ordered on the side was soggy and tasted sour, the fry sauce tasted like salad dressing, and they messed up my order as well. I'm not usually one to complain, but I asked to talk to the manager and assured my server Tatum that she had done great, I just wanted to talk about the quality of the food. I'm so sad I can't remember the manager's name! UPDATE: Her name is Amber She was so awesome and listened to my few concerns and made my sister and I feel like what we thought actually mattered! It took 45 minutes to seat 7 of us on a Monday night. The food came out reasonably quickly, but was nothing to brag about. I got pancakes and didn't love them. I paid extra for cream and strawberries. It really seamed like there was only one sliced strawberry on there. Not really worth the extra $2.50. We came here on Labor Day, and it was wicked packed with people. 35 minute wait, oy! But then we got seated and were served by an angel in bear print suspenders, Aspen P. She was super sweet, and so nice about cleaning up my son's spilled drink. Additionally, and more importantly, even though she was waiting on several tables, she made my family of five feel like we were the only people in the restaurant. I absolutely love this place! I always get the breakfast food, which is available all day, and it never fails to impress. The service is typically on point, the scenery is very welcoming, and I love their old school newspapers that are also menus. My wife and I normally get either the Chicken Fried Steak or The Grizz. I've had times where we've been continuously checked on by our waiter and other times where staff is non-existent. Thought I'd try this place out. Cleanliness: pretty clean. I sat at the tavern and only saw water spots at the server's work table (which is common). Service: good. I was greeted by the hostess, my server, and another server. Food: I ordered the breakfast burrito, which was good. The only thing I have to say about it is I wish they had one more thing to add. Half the plate was the burrito and the other half were the hashbrowns. A side of toast would've made this dish perfect. Moved here from Shasta County, California which is home to the Black Bear Diner. I've been to various locations, most often to the one in Redding. The food is almost always delicious and the service is fast and friendly. The main reason for only 3 stars for the Orem UT location is not fixing a problem that the customer (me) brought to their attention. I ordered the Shasta Scramble and specified TWICE extra crisp hash browns. When our wait was a little longer than usual, I happily assumed it was to make my hash browns extra crispy. They arrived and were barely cooked. I immediately brought it to my waitress's attention. She should have noticed on her own but didn't. She said she'd get me crispy ones. I knew it wouldn't happen. And it didn't. I had almost finished my scramble and English muffin when she brought a plate of hash browns that looked a lot like the original offenders. I wasn't happy. The waitress and the cook didn't listen to my original order. And then failed to make it right. So I had no hash browns, was charged full price, and left mad. It's a pet peeve of mine, which is why I ordered extra crispy. It might be a while before I return. And that would be because they did a great job on my husband's eggs. read more

After we asked about it, she kept saying she was working on it but we waited 15 minutes AFTER we were done with our meal for our pancakes to come. No apology was made, nothing. That wasn't terrible, so we tried again today. We were told it would be a 20 minute wait for our group of four, which is understandable, so we waited. After waiting for 25 minutes, the host came over to tell us it would be 30 MORE MINUTES before we would be seated! If they had told us it would be an hour wait, we would have left right away. Out of all the restaurants in Provo, I think this one is my favorite. First of all they have the most amazing burger. It is probably one of my top 10 burgers I've ever had, it's that Parmesan one. Also, When you walk in the diner it's like you're walking in to a diner in a small town in the middle of nowhere. It feels awesome, the stuff is super nice, and different than your typical basic Provo people. Everyone is super interesting and totally nice, they talk to you at ton and are super helpful. The Black bear diner next to Snowbird has the same atmosphere, in the food is also amazing. They give you tons of food, and it's just a fun experience. read more
