I finally had the chance to dine at Black Bear Diner. The place was always packed whenever I drove by. I wanted to see how it compared to Denny's and Ihop. I ordered the basic breakfast. It came with 2 pancakes, egg over easy, a piece of bacon, sausage and toast. I ordered a side of hash brown because I love hash brown. The bacon was thick and the sausage was plump. They had a different taste and texture. The hash browns were fluffy and well browned. I prefer crispy. I can say Black Bear ranks above Denny's and Ihop. It's well worth the wait if you're up to trying someplace new. I will try lunch next time. read more

Don't go there! First of all, the prices have skyrocketed. Secondly, for the amount of money that you pay for an omelette, you can get the same omelette, which is double the size at another eatery like Holders that charges you less. To add insult to injury, holders offers you two pancakes with the meal and I was horrified to see that pancakes were not part of this meal but yet cost another $14 for two, would you get for free with the meal at Holders. It took forever for the food to arrive, and when the food finally arrived, there was about a spoonful of hashbrowns caked in grease and an omelette that looked like it had seen better days. The only redeeming fact, was that the buttermilk biscuit was actually fluffy and fresh. Even the staff seemed washed out and worn out and wrung out and hung up to dry. I hope they make some changes or they will lose customers like me. At a time when the restaurant is supposed to be, but it seemed like it was half empty. read more

Now I know why there were no cars in the parking lot. There was no one at the hostess stand, the place is in dire need of cleaning and updating. All of the furniture showed lots of wear (rips, tears, stains, etc). The food. Yeah. If you like paying $30 for a cup of tea and a mediocre omelette, then this is the place for you. read more

Our family's go-to place for hearty American breakfast. Most importantly, my kids enjoy the food and always finish their set brunch meals. We came back again for New Year day and Juanita gave us a warm welcoming service to start out the year. Had no idea about what this spot had to offer until i just decided to try it out . We were greeted in a timely manner. Our waiter was nice but barely check up on us which was a con... but lots of options .. alil to many in my opinion . my brain just felt overwhelmed . But I ordered the Grilled chicken Taco salad very flavorful the ranch was really good . My girl got the volcano the breakfast sausage was really good the sweet cream pancakes were sweet and fluffy . I ordered a side of fries they were fresh and crispy perfect. This chain is a good breakfast spot. They do not have anything fancy or outstanding. However, their decorations are pretty cool. Their food is nothing special. Like I said a good spot for your standard American breakfast. I will say if you touch any of the condiments you might want to have a wet wipe or hand sanitizer handy as the condiments are very sticky. read more

Been here many times, it is our traditional meal on the way to Monterey biking trip. We got seated right away. Food came very fast and super good. Plates are hot. Home fried potatoes was so delicious, sweet, tender, flavorful. Server Juanita who is beautiful, charming, sweet with a beautiful smile and very attentive. Coffee was always good and hot. This is a fun place to go for comfort food in a comfortable setting. Old jukebox music plays in the background while you read old Milpitas Post articles as well as the menu. My tortilla salad was a real treat. I ordered it with Impossible Burger meat instead of ground beef. It came in a huge tortilla shell filled with lots of greens, tomatoes and avocado. Quite yummy and, of course, brought home leftovers for another meal. The small pies are also very good here.....berry, chocolate......just like home baked. If you like bear claw type breakfast pastries, take one home for the next day. They are big and Delicious warmed with a bit of butter. read more

Decided to stop by for breakfast by myself before I get my day started on my day off. It wasn't busy so I was sat right away. Nearly 10 minutes passed and no one had asked me if I wanted a drink. I was by passed several times (maybe I was temporarily invisible) the people I. Front of me and behind me were approached TWICE and asked if they were ready to order (they weren't) I finally flagged a waitress down I was about to leave but I'm really hungry. It's a terrible feeling being ignored. They are t busy so I don't understand. Got my food the veggies in the country potatoes aren't cooked at all. Been waiting for a coffee refill, nope..received the bill before a refill. Noticed customers that came after me basically were greeted with a cup of coffee as soon as they sat down. This was our first time here and needless to say we will not be back anytime soon. Service here was horrible. We waited over 45 minutes for our kids meals that were placed at the same time as the drink order went in. Then an additional 25 minutes for the remaining orders. The manager was unhelpful and said they are busy. I completely understand being busy but waiting over an hour for your meal is crazy. 3 tables who were seated after my family received their meals before my children got their kids meals. Not to mention that they forgot one item from my order. After all the meals were delivered and the meal was almost completed they delivered my order of onion rings. At which time waitress mentioned that the onion rings are free. The waitress never refilled our bottomless drinks and never checked up on the table. The manager gave excuses for the lack of customer service. He said he would check on the issue but never came back to talk to me. He also mentioned that he would give me a discount. When I got my bill they had charged for the onion rings which were supposed to be free since they showed up after the meal was ended and there was no discount like the manager said he would do. It wasn't until after I mentioned it to the hostess did they adjust my meal. Horrible experience and bad customer service! read more

I went to the one in Concord and fell in loved with waffles. The only waffles I had were leggo eggo waffles and pandan waffles. I also like their hungry man's scramble. I just like a meaty meal. Meat and carb eater here. I'm glad they open one in Milpitas a long time ago. My usual is the hungry man's scramble but I'll do a Benedict once in awhile. read more

Gave it another go today but sadly, we will not be coming back. Waited over 45 minutes just for our food to come out just to have my order incorrect with no seasoning. Asked for a medium rare steak & eggs AGAIN. When the food finally came, steak was well done with ZERO seasoning. I let the waiter know & she had it remade again. But what really got me this time was the uncleanliness of the restroom. One of the stalls was disgusting & a worker came in & told someone else to clean it. But the person who came in to clean it literally just put soap & water on a paper towel & used that to clean the toilet seat that had BLOOD on it. Did not use any cleaner or disinfectant at all. Just soap & water. I really hope management can step it up & bring this place back to what it use to be. read more

Went to breakfast here over the weekend, the foods good, very decent, but there is something that always happens when we order there, they always get my order incorrect on one of my items, example I ordered the pancake combo and I wanted my eggs "over medium", what I got were scrambled eggs instead, and I had to let the waitress know, thankfully she was a fem and got what I wanted and they are always to correct the mistake so we continue to go there because food is good and the service is decent and friendly read more

This is a small Bb diner compare to other. Its more like ihop or dennys kind. Store is a lil dirty.. Our server is a spanish lady very nice and friendly, a spanish guy also help us seat on our table, they are both ok and nice. But i notice they are over work thats why they kept forgetting stuff. Im not gonna elaborate and complaint because i felt bad. Theres a decent amount of people eating there and i assume for the past 8hrs they are busy! They buzz, take order and serve, so i cannot complaint on them Forgetting alot of stuff we order and had to wait awhile to get food serve because they also getting phone orders.
