The food was massive . Huge portions, the wait staff Lisa was very friendly and very attentive, bright and clean dining area. They have a separate dining room for a large group. This is a great restaurant to take people who are from out of town, symbolizing the Pacafic northwest, and black bear carvings everywhere awesome family friendly restaurants thank you Lisa for your awesome service

Nathan was our server and he gave excellent service. Very friendly and detail oriented. We love this Black Bear location in Bend. The food is always excellent, awesome portions and our server is A+ server. We will continue to come to this location whenever we visit Bend Or.

We were seated very quickly and everyone was so friendly! Tiffany was our server and she was phenomenal. There was so much food! It was delicious, hot, and came out fast. The whole restaurant has black bears everywhere and is so cute and cozy. We are from out of state and unsure of where to go for breakfast, this place was great!

Service was great! And it was lovely that the place was empty on a Saturday morning. Maybe because these chain breakfast joints just aren't as popular anymore. Sadly the food is just alright. The portions are huge which is probably its main selling point still. Especially when you have a hangover. I was so excited about the biscuits but mine was cold and it's really just too big. No flavor. Not tasty at all. My omelette was also cold, in fact the finely shredded cheese inside it wasn't even melted a little bit. It was still pretty good though. It tasted way better with the signature hot sauce. I'd rate the basic hashbrowns a 5/10 and maybe I'll get the OBrien potatoes instead next time. They looked a bit more flavor town. Overall I'd return if I could be promised a hotter meal. It's needs to bring back the l mom n pop feel. And start making the food with a little more care (freshness and seasoning) and dare I say with a reduced portion size. No one needs to eat a full entree here for a balanced healthy breakfast. It's just too much.

They have breakfast and lunch and a solid kids menu. The pastry case looks great! I love that there are gluten free pastries and clearly marked menu items without gluten. I had the Benedict with carnitas on a gluten free bagel. The pork was delicious. The portion was generous. Lots of Hollandaise sauce. Crispy potatoes. All very good. I couldn't finish. My husband had the breakfast sandwich (not gf) and said the lemon aioli was great. It's out of the way if you are staying near downtown, but worth the drive.

Hubby had classic Eggs Benedict that he said was very good. I started with a warm Chai and a Bobbin for Apples Mimosa which was magical. Having read the reviews I was prepared to order the stuffed croissant French toast. Last minute change of heart- I ordered the Gobbler, a roast turkey sandwich on a croissant with a flavor profile reminiscent of Thanksgiving. The sweetness of the fig jam played well with the poached pear, savory turkey and peppery arugula. Dessert will have to wait until our next visit. The pastry counter at the front of the restaurant displays cinnamon roles, scones, muffins and impressive cakes. There's even a marionberry and white chocolate bread pudding that would make a wonderful brunch choice.

I ordered the bacon & eggs & pancake set and the bacon was their special thick cut that they bring in which was very tasty! The pancakes were light and fluffy and they brought over 3 types of syrups a honey, lemon and the maple syrup. I had the lemon and it was very good and the flavor of the lemon was great with no tangy taste. The thick bacon was very good and tasty and not overly salty, My wife had the waffle and she enjoyed it with the maple syrup. The vegetable omelette was also very good but huge and it could feed 2 people. Restroom located in the restaurant were clean and well kept. Staff was friendly and service good.

Staying right across the street from the church, this was an easy decision! While we never actually sat down for a meal here, we did have a couple of take out orders. The first was a hamburger for dinner. The burger was delicious once I got back to our room to eat it. It was an extremely busy Friday night and I was warned that there would be quite a wait. Actually, it was only a half hour. Customer service was excellent. The second was a Denver Omelette and hash browned potatoes that we shared for breakfast the next morning. It was a delicious meal. Again, service was excellent. I even declined an offer to have the meal delivered to our room Negatives: 1. There was no fridge or microwave in the room. I was awaken about 4:00am, I thought my husband was taking a shower, I felt him, so I know it wasn't him. It must have been a loud fan! 2. We couldn't look outside the windows, we have our drapes closed all of our stay, the outside seats for the restaurant were right outside, and it can get noisy during Happy Hour. 3. The sink is too small, none of the glass shelves are fit for my Waterpik. Positives: 1. The pillows were perfect. The TV channels were right on my show. 2. The temperature of the room was good, no drafts. 3. The night light also goes on, when all the lights are off. That's a bonus, because we always forget to bring our night light. 4. I love the colors, decor, ceiling fan light of the room. 5. In the morning, Fresh coffee was available on a table right outside our door. If I wasn't reading on the back of their menu, I would not have known or heard about their St. Francis Turkish style bath. If we have more time in the day & night, we could have done some tours around the building in and out. There's always a next time!

Just enough spicy without being too much. Ordering at the counter seemed interesting to me due to the layout of the dining room, but the staff knew exactly what they were doing and were able to direct us to a seat easily! Our food and drinks also came in a timing manner. I really appreciated that we could see all the way back into the kitchen and there was transparency between the kitchen and the consumers. The bar looked gorgeous and I would definetly like to sit there next time for the vibes. I also loved that they provided self-serve boxes, napkins, and utensils but still had a sign asking patrons to be concious of how much they're using. The overall flow between ordering, self serve, and dining was super efficient and nice! Can't wait to come here again!

We loved the esquites (traditionally Mexican style street corn) with fish sauce - so so good. The strawberry & crispy rice salad and Thai beef salads were both bright, fresh, and tasty. The dan dan noodles, lomo saltado, and curries were all great as well. As an extra icing on top - the drinks (especially the $3 nonalcoholic shrub and homemade sodas) were great as well. Bad news. Good news…read more Bad news first is this: The Drake has been sold to new owners and TONIGHT, APRIL 12, WILL BE THE LAST DAY OF SERVICE at The Drake with the original owner and the current menu. So if you're hankering for the mac n cheese or shrimp n grits or veg burger or any of the menu items, after today they are history. I started eating at The Drake in their first week of business and had many, many, many meals there over the years but things change and so, it seems, has the popularity of The Drake. Now the good news. The new owners are a trio and one of them is also one of the owners of the inestimable Ken's Artisan Pizza in Portland that opened its' Bend location last year. (Go! Even if you have to stand in line for 45 minutes like I did.) The first news of this ownership change was that they would keep the name and current focus of The Drake. But local television news reports that after The Drake closes today it will be reimagined with a new name and design and menu. The opening for the new place is currently said to be Memorial Day weekend. I don't live in Bend anymore but there is still a family home there and so I visit on occasion and knowing a "Ken's" owner is involved in the new enterprise may make me brave the wicked-bad downtown parking to try this new place. In the meantime, I remember how fun and delicious it could be to eat at The Drake.
