I wish they'd replace the staff with that of Bread Brothers or any other Bagel spot in the country because they simply do not know what they are doing. Here's what I've observed: - 3 out of the 4 times I've been there the cashier takes an order and makes that persons coffee / latte / ice mocha cappuccino / 6 different types of teas / bagel with cream cheese etc... and lets the rest of the line pile up and wait while the other employees clean or sit there waiting for an order. Somehow they haven't figured out that it would be smarter for the business to train one of the other 3 employees to make coffee so that a line of 10+ people doesn't form, and so it won't take 25 minutes to get a coffee or breakfast. The only time this didn't happen to me was when there was no one in front of me in line. - Every time I've been there they've messed up my food order. One time for a breakfast sandwich titled "Omelette on a Baguette" - they gave me cold cuts / lettuce / tomato / and a cold egg omelette on a hero. Yes, for real, the egg omelette was purposely cold...I'm not even sure how that was possible. - You ask for a toasted anything, and you shall receive a gummy piece of bread - guaranteed. They put the bagels on the face of the grill - ghetto style - to give you just enough gumminess and 'old grill' flavor to encourage a "WTF!?", or perhaps a "Oh you got to be f*ckin'g kidding me...again!?" outburst. Careful if you're at the office. - The most discouraging thing about this place however is the fact that every time I asked for an egg sandwich - the eggs have been burnt. So rather than eating it, I gave my burt / gummy egg sandwich to my dog and wrote this review instead. - Their bagels suck. read more

Knickerbocker Bagel felt different. People recommended it to us as a bagel shop, and it absolutely is, but I think it straddles the line between a traditional bagel shop and a neighborhood deli or bodega. They have tons of bagel options, tons of spreads, sandwiches, waffles, French toast, and just a much bigger menu than I was expecting. It was fun having so many choices. The whole process was fast and efficient. They have machines where you can place your order, but you can also order at the counter. What really stood out to me was the woman handing out the food. Instead of just calling your number and handing you a bag, she went through the order with each person to make sure everything was there. Such a simple thing, but genuinely phenomenal service and a really nice extra touch. There is also plenty of seating. I had a hard time figuring that out from the photos online before we went, so I wasn't sure what to expect, but there was a good amount of space to sit and eat. Everything was clean and well maintained. Overall, it felt like a great neighborhood bagel spot. Lots of choices, fast service, plenty of seating, and a little more of that classic New York deli feel than some of the trendier bagel places.

When I got to the register although my order was there waiting prepared along with the white womans order, he skipped calling my number and called hers instead. He got her all set and off then he helped me. When I asked him why he finished her up before me when I was first he said because her sandwich was easier to make, but both our orders were sitting there ready to go. I'm sorry but from my perspective, this is bias at its finest. It's disgusting that in this day and age I have to go through this and the $17 BLT wasn't even worth it. Shame on that worker and shame on this establishment for not properly training your staff of treat ALL customers with respect regardless of their personal biases. Disgusting. BTW- The bagel was hard to chew. I'm a born NY'er and these bagels are not good. The best bagels are Essa Bagels. The service here I would give a zero. People that like this place don't know any better.
