The last time I got donuts from Winco it felt like I had six hockey pucks in my box that were incredibly one note. Their cinnamon buns are like pillow cushions with gooey goodness shoved in between the spaces. The butter cream frosting is perfectly thick, creamy, and luxurious, and The staff is not stingy about it. On Fridays and Saturdays they make these enormous donuts that are as big as your head and if you want don't even fill it with cream for free. Super friendly service. I came here in the afternoon and there was still a decent selection. I didn't get any cream puffs which is my biggest regret but I did get several donuts and a few cinnamon rolls to take to a party. Awkward because someone else brought donuts too but by far, these donuts were superior and were the first to go. Best cinnabon and sticky buns in town!! Yesterday I found myself craving for their sticky buns, since it was Father's Day I didn't know if they were opened or not. I did attempt to call them but they didnt pick up so I took a risk and drove there. They were open!! I got 2 cinnabon buns and 2 sticky buns. These buns are light and fluffy not too sweet. Basic concept. If you're going to sell people, your product and want them to return, scale back on the rudeness. I sat there and noticed how preferential they were on customer service. I got none. Not even a, "good afternoon" or a "thank you" All they were concerned about was how much to charge me.. Maybe I got a bad seed, but it is the woman working the shift up to closing. Also, I tried to enjoy my coffee and donut there, but I almost slipped on the floor because of all the grease. I wonder if the health department knows that they store their products to make donuts and other in the Customer seating area. Is that even legal? There are a handful of places where you could just "pick up some donuts" - if you want delicious, melt in your mouth, worth the extra little mile or two down the street... go to BJ Cinnamon!! I have been wanting to go here for the past two years (just never made the time to go in during business hours) - and it lives up to its consistent 5-star rating. (I even read the few low balled reviews and beg to disagree - sure, if you want or expect simply soaked in sugar go on ahead to Krispy Kreme or Cinnabon. What you find here is a good family run business cranking out their baked goods... not some corporate run-of-the-mill). I pulled into the parking lot this morning at 7:50am, walked inside, and got in line behind 6 people - when I left, there was still consistently about 10-15 people in line. The customer service - amazing! Friendly, attentive, polite, smiles on their faces as they wish you a good morning when entering/leaving, didn't feel rushed at all. Instead of simply saying that they were temporarily out of maple bars, the gal went to the back and inquired with the baker(s), and came back out to tell the customer it should be no more than 2-3 more minutes. The store is immaculate, well maintained, CLEAN. As for their pastries/donuts - DELICIOUS!! The cream cheese/blueberry pastry was yummy and not hurt your teeth too sweet. Would love this in a guava or strawberry version!! Cream cheese makes everything taste good, right?! The donuts/donut holes, melt in your mouth, soft little pillows of sweetness, just enough icing/glaze, and don't leave you with that oily/greasy taste in your mouth - yum! The blueberry muffin, was saving this for tomorrow's breakfast, but had to take a nibble - moist and not too sweet! Perfect for breakfast!! Ham and cheese baked croissants - they are HUMONGOUS!!! Airy, FLAKY, BUTTERY - they have perfected their laminated dough!!!! The filling was delicious against the buttery croissant. Popped it in the microwave for just a few seconds and it was sooo good. Apple fritter - finely chopped cinnamon apple pieces mixed into the dough, fried to a perfect crisp/bite on the outside and soft inside with just enough dunk/coating in glaze. Maple Old Fashion - they're about double the weight you would get at Starbucks or at Bel-Air. I love to break off all the little cracks around the outside circle first, then eat the center circular piece. Delicious! The texture of the cake/dough was spot on. And their cinnamon rolls... I'll take these cinnamon rolls over Cinnabon or IKEA any day! They are HUGE covered in as little or as much icing as your heart desires. I think it tastes just that much better if you pop it in the microwave for just a few seconds. Now, if you're a lover of Cinnabon or Ikea, perhaps this place isn't for you - I LOVE bread/dough so I enjoyed the amount of soft bready dough to the ratio of cinnamon/sugar... not overly sweet. I enjoy tasting and chewing the bread, with the bites of icing. You control the amount of sweetness on these rolls. You can either order them plain without any icing or you can ask them to pour it on! I love that these rolls are NOT gooey sticky drowning in sugar and icing. You can actually bite it, chew it and enjoy the work that goes into the texture and creation of the cinnamon roll dough. And to find this bakery/donut shop in Folsom, I see now why there's a sweet amount of five-star Yelp reviews for this place. And if you're like me, I love eating donuts. Whether its with a hot cup of coffee or a cold glass of milk, its the absolute perfect comfort food to satisfy your taste buds. Located directly in the heart of Folsom on East Bidwell Road, "BJ Cinnamon" is tucked in a quiet strip mall in between Glenn Drive and Coloma Street. The exterior of the business has the words CINNAMON in big yellow letters which may confuse a few people if this place sells cinnamon products or if is a dedicated bakery/pastry shop. But once you step foot inside, you will notice cases and cases of some of the freshest donuts in the entire area. And as far as the inside goes, this place has it done the right way; ample seating for several families and kids, modern tiles on the floors, a very clean and sterile atmosphere, and of course the aromatic scent of fresh donuts that can make any grown adult feel like a kid again. Do keep in mind, this place does get BUSY. Not to mention, it has been voted Folsom's #1 donut shop. Since my lady works very close to this area, I've had to the opportunity to eat many different choices off their menu. One of which is their signature "Cinnamon Roll"; this had the perfect consistency of glazed cinnamon and was moist enough where every savory bite was tantalizing my taste buds. It even tops the cinnamon rolls that Cinnabon sells! Another favorite of mine are their "Donut Holes"; these bite size snacks have the perfect amount of sugar with a creamy custard in the center. And finally, I also enjoy their "Glazed Donut"; this was another one of my favorite items off their menu. One word to describe every donut sold here and this is "fresh". These all literally tasted as if they were just baked and put inside the glass cases. Since I live relatively close to "Donut King" (in Citrus Heights), I will be the first to tell you that their donuts come nowhere as close as good as BJ Cinnamon. So that extra drive to Folsom makes it all the more worth coming out here. Overall, this is one of the finest donut shops and bakeries in the entire Sacramento area. The quality of everything I tried from them was outstanding, even as I am writing my review I am drooling - good thing I still have some doughnut holes from yesterday (nom nom). My new favorite item on the menu is the sugar dusted cream puff. The dough texture is fantastic, unlike anything I tried before, and the custard is creamy and just the right amount of sweet. Their doughnuts are also to die for, so puffy and light, I could eat a dozen in one sitting. In terms of customer service they shine. We're always greeted with a smile and they take their time with every customer. Yes, sometimes this creates a line, but that's just testimony of how amazing this place is. I'm really sad to have to change my rating, but we are moving out of state next week and we wanted to go to our favorite donut shop before we go. I ordered a dozen donuts and two breakfast croissants. As expected, I had to wait for the croissants. I've been going here long enough to know that the wait used to be quite a bit longer so I appreciate how they streamlined their croissant making process when ownership changed hands. However, I waited at least twenty minutes. After ten minutes I asked "I've been waiting a bit and I've seen other people's sandwiches coming out. Is mine on its way?" "Oh yes! It's coming." I asked again after a few more minutes. Same answer. When I saw a woman order the same type of croissant and get it immediately, I had enough and asked more firmly. It was still coming. I said "I just watched a customer get the exact same thing immediately". And only then did they realize that my order had been sitting for a while. I was not rude in the least and I kept getting brushed off. It was very busy and I do understand that, but they need to work on actually listening to their customers. Doordash orders also seem to be part of the problem as well. They take priority. The old owners were much friendlier, the new ones are not. I'm sure they are tired after this last year, but this started happening well before the pandemic. I just wanted to believe it would get better. Honestly had no plans on eating pastries today but I was told to come here while I was waiting for my windows to get done since it would only be an hour. I walked in and was pleasantly surprised to see rows and rows of all different varieties of donuts, pastries, cinnamon buns, and more! The woman behind the counter immediately asked me what can she get me but my brain had not yet settled on just one as my eyes continued to scan the assortment. Came here to pick up a cinnamon roll and ended up picking up that plus a blueberry muffin, Mexican mocha and cream puffs. Everything was good but what made us go back a few days later was the cream puffs they are really good and you don't need alot of them to be satisfied. The blueberry muffins are really good also very soft and moist and great flavor. Tried the cinnamon twist the next visit and that was really good also. The owner was a really nice guy who was super friendly! He keeps a container of extra frosting to pour for those interested (of course we said pour it on!). He provided us with napkins and forks and even threw in some donut holes for the road! We had the donut holes while driving, and they were so airy and just the perfect bite (or more) - a little cloud of doughy goodness. When we finally tasted the cinnamon rolls, angels sang! I called earlier in the morning to see if that had more cinnamon rolls since we were coming from Elk Grove, I didn't want to drive all the way there and be disappointed. A few doors down, Cupcake Craving was closed (cupcakes tantalizingly still in glass display case you could see through the window though)...and Yelp told me nearby was yet another popular sweet treat -- BJ Cinnamon! Hard to miss from the main road. Chocolate croissant donut FTW. Well, since it was the afternoon they only had one croissant donut left, which was the chocolate flavor, but fine by me! Cheaper than the ones at Baker's ($2.50 compared to $3.50), more croissant in form/shape than donut, but too cool to be abbreviated in name to doissant or cronut. Super nice guy behind the counter -- when I got back to my car and opened the bag there was an extra glazed donut in there too, no charge! As the sugar granules that coated my first-ever cronut hit my mouth, I felt lucky to be the owner of an additional cronut, waiting for me patiently in a white paper bag. Both cronuts were from BJ Cinnamon, which featured chocolate-glazed, maple-glazed, and sugar cronuts as part of their wide variety of donuts and baked treats. I tried BJ Cinnamon for the first time 2 days ago and had a great morning as a result. From their cute, powdered sugar covered cream puffs to the donut and cronut I tried, everything has been really good. The staff is really nice and welcomed me right away to the bright, tidy shop. Fritters Fritters Fritters. I love their option of different flavored fritters. Their cronut is our cousin's favorite and I've yet to try it. We are huge fans of fritters and they had a cranberry raspberry one that we really like. Their apple fritter is good and their apple maple bacon fritter is a bit on the heavy side but worth a try if you like that thing. We also really like their cream puffs!
