Thank goodness Folsom has a donut shop like this. Highly recommend them. I've only had nothing but great donuts from BJ Cinnamon and I'm looking forward to being able to try everything they offer. We discovered this place from the old owners who opened a new shop in Rocklin. They are 5amazing! You must try on Granite Dr. Rocklin. Friendly clean and excellent quality. Sadly, not my experience today in Folsom. Why do people buy restaurants or businesses and change the service or recipes? Bummer! They should change the name? The store- filthy! The service- horrible and rude, even to the 4 year old little (my grandson) excited to get a sprinkle donut for himself and brother. (Not a single crack or smile and for sure no eye contact. We ordered glazed and ended up with about six donuts we didn't ask for. When I looked at the receipt and opened the box? I was amazed? I just paid 22.00 that included the tip for donuts we did not ask for? When I went back she through in a "free random donut" we didn't want that one either. I told the lady that too. Omg! How does 6 donuts 2- sprinkles and a dozen donut holes end up with maple old fashioned, some powder donut, not sure what the other thing was? And a sugary sprinkled kind of blob! I greeted everyone cheerily with a 'good morning, how are you' and not one person said anything back to me except 'what can I get you.' Kinda killed the mood, but whatever. I ordered an egg/bacon/cheese croissant and it was not very good. The croissant was burned and the bacon was burned and in tiny pieces that fell out everywhere. It was $5.50 and I did note that their prices have increased recently. I also ordered two donuts which were good/average donuts. One of our staff generously brought in several dozen donuts and what a perfect opportunity to finally try them. After tasting the glazed, chocolate and even a special strawberry-glazed with fruit loops, I can safely say they're decent when fresh. The dough lacked that pillowy soft chew I've come to love from places like Randy's Donuts and Stan's Donut Shop in LA. HECK YEAH. That was the most excellent cinnamon roll I've had that wasn't made by a grandma. Maybe it was, I don't actually know. We ordered the gourmet cinnamon roll, and we're told it was a 3 minute wait for the next batch. We happily waited, and were rewarded with a beautiful, light, fluffy, super cinnamon-y bun covered in ooey-gooey delicious frosting. In the exact 3 minutes we were told, even despite how crazy busy it was. Incredible. Tried BJ cinnamon for the first time. I had read it's super busy, but I must have hit the sweet spot. Came in about 11am regular busy. Still well stocked with donuts. Super friendly quick service, yet didn't rush me. Hubs wanted a white cake with chocolate glaze. I never get donuts and didn't know what I was looking for. So I just asked. The server brought out one covered with sprinkles. In a split second I'm thinking "dang that's a lot of sprinkles, it looks like something a little girl would love, I don't think hubs would want that." He read that on my face and immediately switched out for a plain glazed. Yes, hubs would love that. The hubs said it was very good. Still had a crispy outer crust with a delightful glaze. I then ordered a ham and cheese croissant, which I was told to be careful it just came out of the oven. Score! It was very good too. Still crispy outer with melted cheese cheese and ham center. As I was being rung up the server said "I threw in a glazed donut in case you forgot someone." I thought how nice and how funny. I said, " I do have a giant poodle in my car that will appreciate that." He laughed. So, when we got home I thought let's see what my 7 month old pup would do. Basic concept. If you're going to sell people, your product and want them to return, scale back on the rudeness. I sat there and noticed how preferential they were on customer service. I got none. Not even a, "good afternoon" or a "thank you" All they were concerned about was how much to charge me.. Maybe I got a bad seed, but it is the woman working the shift up to closing. Also, I tried to enjoy my coffee and donut there, but I almost slipped on the floor because of all the grease. I wonder if the health department knows that they store their products to make donuts and other in the Customer seating area. Is that even legal? Wow, I completely understand why this place has five solid stars. Aside from the delicious donuts and rolls, it also comes with a bubbly and proud donut shop owner! This guy was so pleasant and friendly he even told us how he came here from Cambodia and started this business eight years ago. He has a ton of awards that he proudly displays and it shows how proud he is of his business. The place is nice and clean and several options to choose from. Honestly had no plans on eating pastries today but I was told to come here while I was waiting for my windows to get done since it would only be an hour. I walked in and was pleasantly surprised to see rows and rows of all different varieties of donuts, pastries, cinnamon buns, and more! The woman behind the counter immediately asked me what can she get me but my brain had not yet settled on just one as my eyes continued to scan the assortment. There are also a bunch of espressos, blended drinks/smoothies, even croissant sandwiches. I felt the pressure and ended up choosing a bran muffin lol! I didn't think they would have it but they did! AND IT WAS WARM, FLUFFY, AND PERFECTLY SWEET. To my surprise I found a little stow away donut holes in my bag which I did not return :) music in the background was nice and upbeat. TRY THE CREAM PUFFS!!!! Best creampuffs I've ever had in my life! It's exactly what I picture eating a cloud would be like. The donuts taste so fresh, airy, and light, you can tase tthey use fresh, quality oil that is changed frequently. The last time I got donuts from Winco it felt like I had six hockey pucks in my box that were incredibly one note. Their cinnamon buns are like pillow cushions with gooey goodness shoved in between the spaces. The butter cream frosting is perfectly thick, creamy, and luxurious, and The staff is not stingy about it. On Fridays and Saturdays they make these enormous donuts that are as big as your head and if you want don't even fill it with cream for free. I also love their ham and cheese croissants, I don't know what they do but they taste amazing.
