Always a 5 I love this place and the hospitality that comes with it! Such an intimate setting../ highly recommend for date night

They were fined for DIRTYNESS last March AND they are RUDE just at the coaches running in that kitchen . Just you basic Hilton cheap hotel restaurant. Thanks Eleonard, then her boss for the attitude and telling me off. AVOID at all cost, total tourist trap. Thanks to Hilton for ruining another GREAT local place. I was going there with the most open mind and wallet, came out completely ENRANGED.

This is a review of the MTL À TABLE experience. I made a reservation through Libro and was pleasantly surprised that they called me the day before to confirm my reservation. They were also very attentive to my request for a quiet corner in the restaurant. 5 stars for attentiveness. The place was nearly empty at 6pm but by 8pm was almost full so it does start to get lively in there. They automatically offered the printed MTL À TABLE menu and the regular menu by QR code on a paper coaster. I started with a Fraîcheur d'été mocktail. It was reasonably good for a mocktail, obviously lacks the bitter balance that would've come with alcohol. When we looked at the MAT menu, we were confused as this was NOT the $39 menu we saw on the MAT website--we were sold and salivating about the duck and salmon steak on the menu which is why we were there. Our waiter Benjamin apologized and explained that it was a delay on MAT's website not processing their request to update the menu. We were bummed...but Benjamin came to the rescue and offered the previous menu price instead of today's menu price ($45) so that was much appreciated. We both took the gravlax and IMO it was a little pretentious. The labneh didn't really add much and the crispy rye bread were thin shavings. For the main, we both had the mackerel but I was hesitant because mackerel has the potential to be really fishy...so I wondered what treatment they would give it. To my surprise, it was the little marinated cherry tomatoes that stole the show. They went fantasticly well with the mackerel which btw was not fishy at all. I enjoyed the pairing with the tomatoes so much, I asked Benjamin for more tomatoes and he promptly brought over a couple more in a little sauce cup which I finished the last bites of fish with. As for dessert, my friend had her dessert replaced with a crème brulée due to a food intolerance while I had the blueberry financier cake. The cake was soft, fragrant and lightly sweet--I could definitely use a couple more of these! After we paid our bill, we just hung out on the rooftop terrace overlooking the Place Des Arts for another hour. It's a perfect thing to do on a warm summer night. Even though the service had ended and they had closed the terrace, there were still waiters coming to check on us and brought us water and drinks. This place has a great vibe, attentive service and a wonderful view. An additional perk is that parking is free after 4pm for any bill above $50 before taxes so that's really helpful. Keep an eye out for their MAT menu as they will change it 3 times for the whole period.

It was my first time in Montreal and I was looking for an upscale eatery with local inspired dishes, and this was the place. In short, everything from the ambience, food, and service was top notch. Special shout-out to service from Naomie, she was so personable and genuinely friendly. She took the time to get to know us as patrons and it felt like getting to know a friend -- she took care of us! From her excellent "silent service" of refilling drinks and taking care of our needs without having to ask, to her prompt table service of taking orders and getting us ready for the next course, she felt like a caring family member. I especially enjoyed her drink recommendations and wine pairing with dinner. Drinks: the peach gin drink was phenomenal. Perfectly balanced and refreshing with the right amount of sweetness. The bourbon lemonade was quite strong and only recommended if you're a fan of bourbon. The food was excellently prepared and perfect portion size. Local fare included trout and duck paired with seasonal sides. Everything was perfectly cooked, and the dishes had thoughtful and unique flavour profiles. We especially enjoyed the pouding au chômeur, a local casual favourite that was done with an upscale touch and served with a delicious house-made maple icecream.

If you're staying at the Double Tree (or near it) in Montreal you can't miss this spot! It was a wonderful restaurant with good ambiance, creative ingredients, and friendly service. I had the trout which had amazing flavor and served with fresh ingredients seasoned perfectly. The desert was excellent too! This spot completely exceeded all expectations of a typical hotel restaurant.

Came to Bivouac while the Montreal jazz festival was happening. The outdoor seating has excellent view for enjoying the festivities. The manager was BEST. He was kind enough to give us a seat outside after seeing that we were stuck at the bar

Got to try some delicious food during my short weekend trip to Montreal Quebec…read more A friend organized a lunch for everyone before we all headed to the airport and funny enough this restaurant was in the hotel my friend and i stayed at. The restaurant was super quiet when we went as it was a Monday afternoon when most people were probably at work. The interior was quite elegant very clean and royalty looking. The service was 10/10. Waiter was very attentive and we could tell he paid attention to detail. He gave great food recommendations and definitely had knowledge of what's on the menu. Now as for how the food and prices were? Prices i'd say are pretty standard and reasonable. The squash soup was so yum and comforting. It had a puree texture to it. Good serving size. I would order it again! We obviously had to have some mimosas and yes we paired it with orange juice. The duck confit may have been a bit too much for me. Large portion and i couldn't even finish half of it. But it wasn't dry and the veggies had a nice crunch and the lentils were very filling and healthy. The flavour notes all went together but i'd definitely say the dish was more on the healthier side. The chicken supreme on the other hand .. although healthy it was still cheesy and buttery. Considering it was chicken breast it didn't even taste dry so i definitely appreciated that. The risotto paired with it was the star of the show! The restaurant takes resos online and they do have brunch on the weekends, happy hour menu looks promising. If i'm ever in town again and in the area i'd want to try their happy hour or chacuterie spread!

(Hotel restaurants, can be good/bad) We were definitely not dressed up which I was worried about but it wasn't an issue, we started with beef carpaccio and charcuterie, the pate was absolutely amazing as were all the cured meats. The beef carpaccio, was for me a little bland, I would have hit it with a touch of salt, but once you got a piece th at had balsamic drizzle it really opened it up and changed my mind. (I wish there was a little more of the balsamic. My husband had the Cornish hen, and I had the filet mignon, both were absolutely amazing, I even stole a little of his Bleu cheese for my steak. Steak was cooked perfectly, the sides were amazing. Our server was on point, his name was Pedro, I had asked him to send out a dessert privately and it was our 1 year anniversary, even though we were not dressed for the occasion as we were both exhausted from travel, We will probably be in for lunch tomorrow!

The bone marrow with snails was also good, but the combination was a little weird. I liked the bone marrow. I liked the snails. But served together took away from enjoying each part on its own. The duck was roasted to perfection. The skin was so crispy and the meat just fell off the bone. Same goes for the braised veal cheeks. There was no bone to fall off of, but the meat was so tender and just came apart as soon as I pressed down with my knife. While the food was delicious, the overall experience fell just slightly short of what I would expect from a restaurant of this caliber. Service was the main area that didn't quite meet expectations. After being seated, we waited about 10 minutes before receiving menus and had to ask for them. Throughout the meal, interactions felt a bit rushed - several staff members who stopped by the table were somewhat brief, and on a few occasions, items like bread or water were dropped off while we tried to ask questions, but the busser had already walked away. That said, the restaurant was quite busy during lunch, so it's possible the pace and attentiveness were impacted by that. As for the food, we ordered the albacore tuna appetizer along with the strip loin, butcher's cut, and duck for our mains. Everything was well-prepared, though the duck portion was noticeably small. Desserts were a highlight - especially the pavlova with maracuya, which was excellent. Our server Laura was professional, though not very engaging until the very end of the meal when we were settling the bill. I would still return, as the food is strong, but I have to say that Bar George left a more lasting impression on us in terms of both food and service.

Even during peak summer season the restaurant was crowded and even had a line starting to form at peak lunch hour. There are not very many large tables so don't expect a large group to be sitting together. The menu is pretty straightforward with the typical miso, tonkotsu, and shoyu broths. But they even have a tomato broth with Hokato scallops for those more adventurous. We ordered the Tonkotsu Black $19 & the Tonkotsu+ $19. Is it pricey for Ramen? Yes. But was it worth it? Yes. The Tonkotsu Black had a rich broth with prominent garlic oil. The Tonkotsu+ was really the show stopper. With 3 different styles of meat: Smoked pork pastrami, meatballs & chashu. The truffle oil was fragrant and earthy. But the biggest surprise was shiitake mushrooms. They were marinated/seasoned to perfection, with a hint of sweetness. I would've been happy with just a giant bowl of shiitake mushrooms, and truffle oil. The broth was much lighter and delicate than the Tonkotsu Black, yet strong on the truffle. If you're not really a fan of truffle, do not get this. We were tempted to go back again, but we opted to try other restaurants around the downtown area. 10/10 Would go back again! But before even checking in, we had to walk through Bar George ~ and instantly knew we wanted to eat there. We were lucky enough to grab a last-minute reservation, and Julien took a good care of us throughout the evening. His recommendation of the Beef Wellington was spot on (it's already one of our favorite dishes), but this was hands down the best we've ever had. I ordered the lobster risotto, which was excellent with just the right amount of spice. My son had the 10 oz striploin steak with homemade fries (chips), and it was absolutely delicious. I also loved the Canadian touch of coarse salt on the steak, plus the option to choose between Béarnaise or peppercorn sauce. Julien also mentioned their pastry chef placed second in a NY competition, and the desserts absolutely lived up to that reputation. We tried the pineapple and coconut pavlova and the "lick me hazelnut" ~ both beautifully presented and incredibly delicious. We also ordered iced coffee and a latte, and noticed something interesting: this was the second place where we found Canadian coffee to be smooth and mild ~ such a nice change from the often bitter, over-roasted American coffee. Yes, dinner was a bit steep ($300+), but it was worth every penny. Between the rich history, stunning design, outstanding service, and unique cuisine, I would highly recommend Bar George. The tofu serving was substantial, the braising sauce was very tasty, and the tofu was firm and chewy and filled with saucey flavor. The optional coriander creme sauce and fresh limes were a great complement to the braising sauce. Around me i could see servings of chili, their vegan poutine fries, and the chesesteak come out of the kitchen, and noticed other tables were also complementing their food. I finished with a tangy lemon tart slice and vegan whipped cream - very nice. The tables are fairly close together as it's in town center. They've got several two top tables.
