    Tonkatsu black and plus ramen
    Khoi N.

Very tasty ramen and the location is right in the heart of downtown Montreal. My family and I shared everything from the chicken wings, tonkatsu plus and black. The aromatics and broth were so rich. Even on a hot summer day this was absolutely delicious. I could taste the rich truffle oil in my tonkatsu plus. Portions are fair and can be shared. They offer different ramen add ons and drinks as well. The interior was very clean. They had wood accents all along the walls and very high ceilings. Food comes out quickly and you can fully customize your ramen. I saw plenty of people enjoy their ramen alone. Staff were really friendly and accommodating. If you want some authentic Japanese ramen this is the spot.

Got there on a Friday around 5:45pm and were seated right away. The service was a bit slow but everyone was courteous. We got their Tonkatsu Black with thick noodle and the regular Tonkatsu for the kiddos. The broth is standard, light yet full of umami flavors. The chashu pork was lightly charred on one side and gave wonderful aroma to the broth. Noodle was standard, The chili paste ($1) was totally worth it! Overall a decent place to grab a ramen and feel satisfied. Go get it!

Tasty ramen. Great location. Seating indoor and outdoor. Great service. Beer by the bottle.

It was NYC, 2021 - The place is called Tonchin, and there is a line around the block 15 minutes before they open. They set the bar for ramen extremely high. While Sansotei didn't quite reach that level, it was still a solid bowl of delicious soup. The broth was terrific! It was a little sweet, very savory, and just the right amount of salty. Further, the black garlic is an excellent touch and takes the dish to a new level. The Chashu was excellent! It was an explosion of flavor. It doesn't fully melt in your mouth, but in context, it works! The fat is rendered beautifully, while the meat is tender and not chewy. The tea egg was cooked to perfection, as well. The noodles were alright; they weren't my favorite, but they did the job. It comes down to a question of balance. I found too much noodle and too few vegetables for my taste. The service was fast and polite.

It's Sansotei. I came here to get my ramen fix because there isn't any near me currently. This location is nice and spacious, and the service is very friendly. They speak both French and English. Went on a Saturday during the afternoon and we were seated immediately. This location was okay. I ordered the black tonkotsu as usual, and the soup was good. However I wish they gave me more garlic oil. The portion feels a bit small. The eggs were great, and the chashu was nice and tender. It costed me $21 after tax.

Good spot to stop by have a some warm ramen. Service was kind and friendly. Restaurant has nice interior design and clean. The Miso ramen black was very delicious! I had the thick noodles and would recommend those over the thin noodles for your ramen personally. The chashu was a little fatty for my liking but overall the meat was delicious. I would have preferred a tiny bit more in terms of portion, but the price was still good in USD for the amount I had. Overall delicious ramen! 7.5/10 Mango cheesecake was also pretty good. I would have liked a little more mango inside the cheesecake and for the slice to be a tad bit bigger, when we received the slice it looks as if the tip of the cake broke off. Overall, nice dessert to have at the end. 8/10

We went to this place on our first evening In Montreal. It's close to our hotel (in downtown Montreal) and opening late till 10:30pm. The inside is small but around 9:00pm on a Friday night, there are around 2-3 tables left for a party of 2. I ordered Tomato Ramen, but exchanged Scallops for an egg and Chashu for corns. They were very accommodating to my special request. The broth was thick and soothing. Noodle (I chose thick noodle) was chewy. Overall very solid late night dinner choice. My friend ordered black Tonkatsu Ramen and she said it was also amazing and def worth a try. We also had seaweed salad, which tastes exceptionally refreshing on a humid summer night. Great food and great service. Ps if you are a tourist like myself, a souvenir store is right next door, which offers a large selection of interesting magnets

We both got the black garlic tonkatsu ramen and it was good but I do wish the ramen noodles were a bit softer. The black garlic was very flavourful and there was a good amount of meat. Loved the egg as well. Service was pretty fast.

First stop in Montreal with the family. Food is a little pricey on the $15-20 side, but we are right in downtown. We ordered Shoyu Ramen, TanTan ramen, Tonkotsu, and the prune and sesame ramen salad. The food was tasty, but wasn't the best I've ever had. The staff and servers were very friendly, which bumped this up from 3 to 4 stars. The place is definitely quite cozy and a bit snug when it gets busy. But the servers tried their best to make it work. I just wish the music wasn't so loud. We had to speak up to hear each other.

Found myself in Montreal on business recently and needing some dinner. I narrowed it down to three places and because it was starting to rain and was chilly, I decided for some ramen at Sansotei. Place was hoppin'! (A good sign!). Got a table and ordered the tonkotsu ramen and the fried chicken side. Loved the chicken side. Crispy, well seasoned chicken bites. Nice flavor. Hot. A good choice. The ramen came promptly and it had an egg, some greens, and some mushrooms. There was also some charsu. I found the broth to be fairly mild, maybe a bit too mild for my liking. The noodles were thin and bouncy they were fine. Egg was perfectly jammy. Charsu was a little too fatty. Don't get me wrong, you want some fat for flavor, but I felt I got the last bits on the hog. All in all a fine bowl of ramen, but not killer. I'd like a milkier texture to my Tonkotsu and I appreciate some table condiments to either add some spice or soy. Maybe the view from the owners is our ramen is so good, you don't need any condiments....but I missed them. It was warm, and filling. Definitely gave me my ramen fix, but not the most impressive bowl of ramen I had, and I think my hopes were high. Thanks team, it was a nice visit.

A solid ramen spot in Montréal I've tried Tonkotsu Black & Spicy Tantan. Both have good flavors. I would prefer the Spicy Tantan a bit more just because the spice adds a bit more depth to the flavor of the broth. Overall, it's a good spot if you want good ramen!

I stopped by around 8:45 PM, 15 minutes before they closed, but the staff were so kind and lovely, let me dine in, gave me a free drink on the house, and even told me to take my time and not worry about closing. I ordered the spicy garlic pork ramen with thick noodles, and I was blown away with how flavorful the broth and QQ (chewy) the noodles were. I didn't like the pork that much and found it a bit tough and gamey, but they do have two other types of meat (chicken, beef) as well as a vegetarian option available, as well as seasonal menu specials. If I was at McGill, I'd probably visit this spot a bit too often LOL, and I highly recommend checking them out for their comforting ramen bowls and incredibly kind service!

The staff member was very friendly, service was quick and the food came out fast. The Karaage was perfectly fried, seasoned and delicious. However, no dipping sauce is provided, all other joints that I've been to will give you a mayo dipping sauce, not here. The Ramen - noodles were perfectly cooked, however honestly package ramen had a better flavor than their Original pork ramen unfortunately. I had expected this rich and creaminess of the pork broth, that was sticky-lipped intensifying, but it was not. This was disappointing and thus can only give 2 stars. I can't say for other noodle type, but original pork ramen needs a lot of work.

You can also order to go here I believe. They really operate efficiently, expect fast service! Tables are tightly situated and there's a cozy bar situation where I sat this time, able to watch the chefs cook right in front of me. The daily specials are posted on their Instagram page, as well as written on pieces of paper around the restaurant. My server quickly helped me to water and a glass of sake. I placed a to go order for one of the daily specials, the grilled sea bass with sushi rice and salad, with some kimchi. I also ordered the BBQ chicken with tortilla and salad, as well as vegetable gyoza. Everything was incredible. Truly. The gyoza came topped with green onions and was SO crispy and hot and was perfect with their soy sauce. I thought sea bass was wonderful with a unique almost smoky flavor that melted in my mouth paired with the slightly sweet sticky rice. The barbecue chicken was great as well and better the next day. One thing I don't really understand is why they served plain flour tortillas cut into quarters with their food. We didn't utilize this, nor the white butter/mayo sauce that came alongside it. Once seated, things happen very quickly...it is go, go, go (in the best possible way.) We ordered appetizers first, the tempura green beans with a delicious truffle mayo, gyoza and the tofu salad (they make it fresh every Sunday). Green beans were everyone's fave, but I have to mention the (pickled?) vegetables on the salad. So flavourful! Also tried the egg drop soup which is so tasty. Mains were the salmon tuna bowl, the beef short ribs, the shrimp burger, and 48 hour pork with curry sauce. Everything was wonderful! Finished with their soft serve ice cream, I had the cherry blossom but one of us had the sake, which is a shot of sake poured on top. Amazing! You can even have wasabi or ginger... I'll try that next time (and there will be a next time soon!)

I thought I had pre-booked a reservation, and we were running late. Parking in this area can be a trick. I dropped my wife off and continued to locate parking. She contacted me and said there was no reservation. I panicked as I parked my truck and sifted through my emails for a confirmation. I hustled the 0.4 miles back to her. When I went in the hostess said it wouldn't be a problem and brought us to a table. My wife later told me she was offered tea while she waited. The waiter was on spot. He knew their menu and provided us with his insights. All the food was Devine. Beautifully laid out and brought out each course in the perfect time. My wife loved the hibachi, she doesn't eat much in general and I do most of the cooking at home. She couldn't get enough of putting items in the hibachi and moving them around. Guess I need a hibachi at home lol. Also my wife is 86 pounds, so she gets cold easy. The hibachi was the perfect personal heater too!! We had a great time together. The ambiance had that perfect Japanese appeal, while still modern. I used to live in Japan so I can be skeptical when it comes to Japanese flair & food. This establishment did not disappoint. So if you are in Montreal, I highly recommend giving this place a go. Side note, pricing is very reasonable considering what is included in packages. And the Saki I had was delicious and looking it up for the going rate they make around $5 per bottle based on what they sell it for and market retail price (place around the corner up charges 110%). So you are more than getting what you pay for in my opinion. And sometimes you just cannot put a price on excellent service! We will definitely be returning when we venture. To Montreal again.
