Skirt steak and truffle frues
Libby V.

First day in Chicago and I was getting hungry. Nothing was appealing to me until I saw this place, and it reminded me of a sidewalk cafe in Paris. So in we went. Would have sat outside but it was way to hot that day. This was the best meal we had in Chicago. I had Cheese Ravoli and he had a skirt steak and fried with truffles. Of course we had wine as well. I scarfed my meal up in record time. Service was great and ambiance lovely. It will definitely be on the agenda on our next trip to Chicago. Price was reasonable for quality of food. I would have eaten here a second time, but I had decreed no repeats so we could try as much as possible while in the Windy City.

What a wonderful find in Streeterville. I had no idea that they had this French restaurant here. It's a very cozy small restaurant with wonderful wait staff. Our waiter was literally the best. He would engage with everybody in our party. He wanted to know what people like to eat and even made recommendations. To celebrate our first time here they even gifted us a dessert. I had the roasted duck breast and they split it for two in each individual plate without additional cost. The escargot and desserts were impeccable, which is what you expect from French cuisine. Overall, if you like French food, this is a must visit.

Tuesday is Dover Sole day so of course we were there for that. We shared the remarkable tuna tartare and tomato gazpacho as our start. The surprise of the day was a new dessert, Floating Island. It's crème anglaise, baked egg white carmel sauce, and toasted almonds, wow!

I wish that I took more photos while we were here for a friends birthday dinner! I ordered the ravioli and chicken liver mousse- and wow, the flavor was so amazing. Everyone really enjoyed what they ordered- some getting it off of the pre fixe menu and the standing menu. I would recommend this place for a smaller group of people!

Charming French spot with a surprisingly extensive brunch menu. One downside was the lack of a coffee menu or alternative milk options, which felt like a miss. The staff was very kind, though service was a bit slow--likely due to a large group dining at the same time, so we gave them the benefit of the doubt. That said, the food delivered where it mattered most. I ordered the steak frites and the flavor was fantastic.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time at bistronomic we were welcomed to buy the owner, and she was very attentive to all of the guests throughout our time dining bear. She would constantly check on you along with all the weight staff. We went during brunch and so I had the brunch prefixed menu which included soup, du jour croque Monsieur and homemade portiferoles. All were lovely and for my beverage I had the Au Soleil. The restaurant was neat and clean. The bathrooms were neat and clean, and the vibe was completely cozy. I definitely will be back. This is a great dining option for friends who want to catch up and family dining.

So impressed by the cozy atmosphere of this place. A cute French restaurant that serves up a delicious brunch surrounded by lots of lights and soft music. Service was friendly and loved that they had a coat check as we came in winter. Service was excellent. Food came out at perfect temperature and tasted excellent. The carrot soup was TO DIE FOR. My water always stayed filled to the brim as well, which was a plus. 10/10 experience!

With restaurant week 2026 off and running, Bistronomic set the bar very high as my first stop! It was not too busy during lunchtime, so the ambience was peaceful and the staff warm and attentive. The interior is also very beautifully decorated, balancing classy with welcoming vibes. Their restaurant week deals are some of the greatest values in the city, so be sure to stop by while you can! The $30 lunch special came with 3 courses with several options for each. I opted for the chioggia & baby yellow beet salad, the salmon aux lentilles, and griotte cherry diplomate. All were outstanding. The beet salad was refreshing and the complex flavors came together so well- I really enjoyed the hazelnuts coupled with the ginger vinaigrette. The salmon was cooked perfectly with an extra crispy skin atop juicy, tender meat. The roasted garlic puree complemented the fish very well without covering up its flavor. The lentil and root vegetable hash was filling with a subtle dijon vinaigrette. My favorite part of the meal however, was the griotte. It was extremely fluffy, piping hot, and the most perfect combination of a custard and cake. I love the stewed cherries and that it was not too sweet. Will be thinking about this one for awhile! Wonderful experience all around- I will absolutely be back and highly recommend paying this spot a visit!

I met up with a friend (a local Chicagoan) on my very first trip to Chicago. Having travelled to Paris the previous summer, we decided to relive our experience by dining at a French Bistro - and Bistronomic was her restaurant of choice. I made a reservation a week in advance via OpenTable. When I arrived at the restaurant, I observed that Bistronomic seemed more upscale and refined than the neighborhood bistros we dined at in Paris - yet still inviting. While everything looked delicious on the menu, I decided to follow my friend's lead and order the prix fixe dinner, which includes a soup or salad, entree, and dessert. This turned out to be an excellent value - green bean salad with goat cheese and hazelnut was refreshing and decadent at the same time. The salmon was cooked perfectly - crispy on the outside and flaky + buttery on the inside - and served over a bed of quinoa with a sweet and tangy sauce. I devoured everything on the plate. Dessert was baked Alaska - while decent, the first two courses were the highlights of the meal. Overall, our meal at Bistronomic was a lovely way to begin my first trip to Chicago.

My husband and I had a staycation in the area and decided to try Bistronomic for brunch. I booked the reservation the morning of, but you likely could easily do a walk in for brunch with limited/no wait. Immediately after stepping in, the host welcomed us with a smiling face and made us feel right at home. We both had a busy day ahead, so we didn't opt for the unlimited mimosas ($24.95 as of Jan 2025), but it is a good deal if there is any chance you may have more than 1 mimosa. We each ordered 1 mimosa. The mimosa was great and also more bubbly forward : ) The eggs benedict ended up being an ideal choice and I liked that it wasn't overly heavy. We decided to share the pancakes as a dessert to end the meal. The pancakes are so fluffy and addicting. I would get those again in a heartbeat. I heard they have jazz live music during dinnertime on some specific nights and their dinner menu in general looks fantastic. A future visit to Bistronomic is needed.

I decided to check out this place for a weekday dinner WITHOUT reservations. I knew that having…read morereservations would make dining easier but I didn't plan in advance. I arrived around 6PM for a table, I was told I could go to the bar for bar seating or get my name on the list and wait. So I went to the bar but surprisingly, there were couple other parties waiting at the bar for a seating too. We actually waited about 45 minutes at the bar for seating, and then I received a text an hour later that a table would be ready. Since I was already seated at the bar, I kept my bar seating and forgo the table. So you might be able to get a table seating if you get your name on the list for a weekday dinner. I have to admit this place felt very dim, it feels darker - I supposed that tis the ambiance of a nicer, upscale restaurant. However, I have to admit they are laxed on the dress code. I don't actually know if there's a dress code although a lot of people are in more business casual/dressy attire. I wasn't in anything dressy though and no one said anything. As for the food, I think it is delicious. So we ordered 2 different steak dishes - the bone in aged rib eye and the steak & frites. I love the pairing salt that comes with it, it really tops it off for the steaks. We also ordered sides -- sides do not come with the steaks, they are purchased separately. However, the creamed spinach and the truffle mac and cheese were amazingly delicious. I still remembered the deliciousness as I am writing this review. The sides definitely tops it off. I think they do an excellent job cooking the steak, I love that they already cut it perfectly for me. This is an excellent steak place, great sides. It can get a little busy/crowded, but service is also pretty good. I think the staff does a good job overall given the craziness of this place. It seems like it is always packed. I see people in their "work attire" come here for drinks too and possibly for a bite to eat. I would definitely recommend this place to others -- if you don't want to wait for a table, plan ahead and book a reservation ahead of time. But this place is "casual" enough for you to stop in to grab some food if you're willing to wait.

We ordered the sourdough, crab avocado salad, dry aged ribeye, fried chicken, and mac and cheese. Sourdough: 10/10- ate the entire loaf before we even got the appetizers. Salad: 10/10- amazing flavor and unique. We usually never order salad but this sounded so unique and didn't disappoint - creamy, acidic, perfect appetizer. Fried Chicken: 8/10- above average fried chicken on mashed potatoes. Well spiced but nothing to write home about. Ribeye: 10/10- great steak and honestly not bad pricing. Great crust and flavor, would definitely recommend to split for 2 since it's big. Mac and Cheese: 4/10- pasta was not hot and was undercooked. I usually like al dente but this pasta was hard. It was barely cheesy and was like a alfredo sauce more than cheesy, and the crust on top was lukewarm and stagnant like it had been sitting there. Overall great experience but avoid the mac and cheese.

The sides are a la carte and our waitress let us know that we can order some of the sides as "smalls" since it was just the two of us (thank goodness, otherwise that would've been a lot of food). Although we were full from our meal I know we had to try one of their cakes since I heard the portions are huge and delicious. The chocolate mousse cake did not disappoint. The chocolate was not overly rich or sweet the cookie crumble bottom balanced the mousse out. I will definitely be craving this place when I'm not in Chicago This is already on my list as "places to come back to" if I'm ever in Chicago again.

We had the inkling to go to a great Italian restaurant, but it turns out the night before the marathon, everyone has the same inkling. So, we picked. Prob not fair to Butcher & the Bear that I was in the mood for raviolis. The ambiance is like a speakeasy. They have valet parking. I'd recommend a reservation for dinner--intimate and romantic. This is a steakhouse and while they have other options on the menu, this is the primary reason for my 4-Star review. I don't eat red meat (someone else gifted us the reservation). However, my husband would give 5 stars. I ordered a dirty martini, which was perfect and the blue cheese in the olive was probably the best I've had. The hubs ordered the Negroni because when in Chicago...we started with the focaccia which comes with beef tallow candle--a cool touch but then again, red meat. I had the delicious butter with herbs. Put anything in butter and I'm game! The hubs ordered the filet and I'm certain it was fantastic based upon his reaction. And he loved the beef tallow on it. I ordered the black cod, a favorite of mine. Now, I'm vegetarian adjacent, mostly because meat kinda grosses me out. The less like meat it is, the better. (This is why you take me with a grain of salt if you love a good steakhouse.) the fish was on the underdone side of my doneness continuum. Just a little slimy for me. Flavor of the miso sauce was good and I liked the grilled bok choy. But I had to choke down the fish. (At $47 I wasn't going to leave it.) I hope you'll try this restaurant if you love meat!

Perilla Korean Steakhouse -- Chicago…read more We had a very successful brunch at Perilla. The Kimchi Bloody Mary was definitely one of the highlights. Being from New Orleans, I personally like my Bloody Mary a little spicier and with a little more of that NOLA kick, but this was still a really good option and a fun Korean twist on a classic brunch drink. The food was excellent and gave us plenty of variety. The Korean tray was a great choice, along with the bibimbap and avocado toast. Everything came together really well, and there was enough variety that everyone could find something they enjoyed. Overall, it was a great brunch experience with good food, interesting drinks, and a nice atmosphere. Definitely worth checking out if you're looking for something a little different from the typical Chicago brunch. I visited on July 30, 2025, and I've been meaning to write this review LOL…read more When we arrived, the restaurant was relatively quiet and did not appear particularly busy. Since we did not have a reservation, we were seated on the outdoor patio. This did not bother me at all! I completely understood the situation. Unfortunately, the food did not meet my expectations. I had seen so many positive reviews beforehand, so I came in expecting a much more memorable dining experience. Instead, I found most of the dishes to be fairly underwhelming. The steak fries were enjoyable, there's no way you can mess up meat. Although, I felt that the dipping sauce was what really made the dish. The brussels sprouts lacked overall flavor, and the garlic chive pancakes were noticeably burnt. I have had this dish at other Korean restaurants and have never experienced them being this heavily burnt. I understand that Perilla is a Korean fusion restaurant and that the preparation may differ from what I am accustomed to, but at an upscale restaurant, I feel like the food itself needs to be much more consistent. This is one of those places where the dishes looked beautiful, but unfortunately, the presentation didn't translate into flavor for me. Just because something looks appealing doesn't necessarily mean it's going to taste good, and I think Perilla could really work on that aspect of the menu. Now, the customer service was AMAZING! Unfortunately, I didn't catch either of their names, but the host was welcoming and kind while our waiter was also sososo sweet and attentive throughout our visit. I would honestly give the staff 5/5 stars for their service. They were wonderful, but I don't think it would be fair to give the restaurant the same rating based solely on the service because I can't say the same about the food. I also want to say our server gave us complimentary dessert, how nice! The dessert was actually very yummy, but this is not a dessert spot though LOL. Overall, I really wanted to love Perilla because of all the amazing reviews I had seen, but the food just didn't live up to my expectations. The staff, however, deserves all the love because they were genuinely lovely.

It was essentially a large platter of shells and nowhere near enough food for six people. When we asked to speak with the manager, he came to the table while I was in the restroom. Although six other people were sitting there and available to explain the problem, he chose to leave and never returned. Without speaking to us or offering to replace the meal, he took it upon himself to remove the seafood baller from our bill. We weren't looking for free food we wanted the meal we had ordered so we could eat.
